This "guitar" is simply a noise maker. There is no volume control. There is no off button. There are no strings. All kids have to do is hit one of four buttons to start loud, annoying music. It is unreliable. Sometimes the buttons start the music, sometimes they don't. Do not buy this toy.
I searched all over the internet and local toy stores to find a toy guitar for a baby that wasn't too simple or cheap looking. The father of the baby I bought this for plays guitar and is eager for his baby to begin playing alongside of him. Both father and daughter LOVED this.

My baby girl loves this play guitar. Her daddy plays guitar and her older sister has a child-sized guitar, so this makes her feel part of the family band. Simply rotate the guitar from the neck to turn it into the Cookie Monster bass guitar. To the reviewer below: There is an On/Off switch on the back of the guitar neck, as well as a volume adjustment.
