LeapFrog My Discovery House

LeapFrog My Discovery HouseAs soon as I saw this toy I knew that I had to get it for my 21 month old son. He LOVES ringing the doorbell, turning light switches on and off and closing doors in his own home so it's no surprise that he LOVES this toy! I am also very pleased with how much he has played with it since we got it as well as how durable it seems to be. At this point I've learned not to expect any one toy to hold his attention for more than 10 minutes at a time (and even that's pushing it) so I was happy to see this one occupy him quite frequently throughout the day as he keeps coming back to it over and over again and even likes playing with it in the car when we travel. He especially likes ringing the doorbell and hearing the ding-dong sound and he says "who is it?" and then waits for the toy to tell him who's there (the neighbors, a cowboy or even an astronaut!). My only small complaint is that I wish there were even more things to do on each side as a few of them are kind of sparse w/ room to add (like the kitchen). It also would have been awesome if the bathroom side (which is the only side that he doesn't play with) had a toilet that you could flush and a sink instead of the tub (he LOVES flushing the toilet) which might have also been helpful as we're getting him ready for potty training (flush the toilet wash your hands). Just a thought! But overall I am very happy with this toy and would definately purchase it again.

I have a son with Down Syndrome who is 5 and just learning basic words. This toy has been a fantastic learning toy for him. It goes through basic terminology for him, including opposite terms. There are lots of fine motor activites on all sides and plenty of songs, stories, and sounds that he absolutely loves. In addition, when he turns the light switch on, the house lights up. He is able to focus in on this toy for hours because of all the interaction on all 4 sides. It's size makes it idea for taking anywhere. When he gets bored, he will throw things on the floor, and it hasn't gotten damaged at all. Also, it has a soft and loud feature that I think all mothers love. Of all his toys, I have found this one the most educational and entertaining for him! I love it!

I like how this toy can grow with the child. perfect little "busy box" type toy that they can play with when they are just sitting up... but can also be interesting to older babies/toddlers who are learning about household items and opposites, for example.

the front is a door with doorbell and day/night window. also some birds on the roof. one side is a bathroom with just a bubble bath with large faucet handle and rubber ducky. you can turn the faucet and press the duck for sounds. one side has a living room with lamp and functioning light switch and a little open book. if you press the book it makes a turning page sound and then reads an excerpt of a "story" about some learning idea. then the fourth side has a kitchen... just a refrigerator that opens and has a few food items inside you can slide around. very cute.

I guess if I could change some things I might make something else in the kitchen and bathroom... those areas are a little "sparse" but there isn't room for that much in such a compact toy. and the size of the toy is nice. it isn't a huge thing so it can be easily toted around by little ones with the handle. and if it drops it isn't going to be so heavy that it hurts their feet.

currently my 14 month old likes the birds in the nest and the refrigerator the best. she is able to do all/most of the things at this age but only certain parts currently hold her attention well. but as I said, it will certainly grow with her.

I'd really give this a 4 1/2 rating, not a 4, but that isn't an option.

This toy is AMAZING. I honestly thought it looked pretty simple and boring, but the kids love it. I have a 2 year old who is obsessed with light switches and a 8 month old who is into everything. They both love it. The light switch on it alone was worth it. My toddler would constantly run around the house trying to flip all the lights on & off. Now he has his own light, he plays with it daily. The other features are cute too. The singing and talking isn't over the top annoying like a lot of toys. It's pretty mellow and tolerable to hear over and over. It's a nice size too. Small enough to carry around but not so small that I have to worry about the baby choking on small parts. I'd highly reccomend this for little boys in particular.

My 19 month old daughter recieved this for Christmas. I couldn't get it out of the package fast enough and she sat for 30 minutes straight with this thing when she got it. She LOVES this toy. It has doors to open and close, a light switch, a sun/moon window, bath room, kitchen and living room. The more I look at it the more I find! I haven't seen anything like this in a while. I have a 5 year old so I've been in the toy market for a while. This compares to the "good ol fashioned" toys from when we were kids. LOVE IT LOVE IT. Plus it's not too loud, and it has so many different sounds and sayings that it doesn't get annoying like those repetitive toys. It is easy for her to carry around, big enough to hold interest, but also small enough so it travels well. This will be our gift for all the first birthdays!
