Jack The Dog Tin Jack In The Box

Jack The Dog Tin Jack In The BoxA big hit with my 9-month old grandchild. Child needs adult help since the handle requires finger coordination, but is entertained over and over again by the music and puppet popping up. Clever design coordination with music, Oh where, oh where has my little dog gone. It is nice to find that a toy without flashing lights and noises can still be fun.

Great little classic jack in the box with a fun little doggy twist! Our family loves this toy and how simple it is to use. I like how I can wipe down the exterior as well

We just received our jack-in-the box yesterday. Even before I ordered it, I knew what the other reviews have said. Our box shows the reviewers were right. The dog is difficult to put back into the box, not impossible, just difficult and the latch on the box doesn't hold very well. Lastly the crank for the music is very limp. We don't expect this to last long. Either the latch or the crank will most likely break. My almost-two-year-old grandson will not be able to play with this by himself. It will definitely be a parent-and-baby toy. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? This is another time I shouldn't have bought something off the computer.

It is fun to watch the dog pop up, but the latch is on the outside and is very sensitive, so within minutes my toddler had figured out that you can make the dog jump out just by touching the latch -no need to wind the toy. Then, getting the dog back in is near impossible -even for an adult -because you need to hold the dog inside while you close the lid on your hand. If you try to allow the lid to close on the dog without holding him down, one of his ears will get caught and the lid won't close. Plus, the lid won't close unless you finish winding to the end of the song -how is a toddler supposed to figure that out? So, it works if I demonstrate it, but he wants to do it "himself" and he can't. This toy is going back to the land of nod...

This toy is really cute and I like how it looks, but it is too hard for a little one to use-the crank is on the small side so it's hard for my two year old to grasp and turn it, and it is difficult to close it againit requires a complicated two hand maneuver to stuff the dog back inside, hold the lid closed and then turn the crank at least one full turn for it to latch again. That said, the style is cool and it looks great on the shelf...
