Kettler Kettrike Splash Tricycle

Kettler Kettrike Splash TricycleI thought I had thoroughly researched the Kettlers, but I didn't get all the details on this one. Unfortunately, Amazon got them wrong. They advertised this bike as having the "free wheeling" option, when it DOES NOT. I love the quality of the bike, have had no tipping problems, and the upgraded wheels are great. I'm giving it four stars because the pedals hit my daughter's feet when she doesn't keep them pedaling. I'd recommend spending more to get those free wheels.

I bought this for my 2 year old daughter, and I was hopeful, but she isn't ready to ride it.

You must be aware of what you are getting though. Amazon's ad says that the trike has the free-wheeling option, it does not.

I bought it because of the safety features and the free-wheeling option, which I found out when I got it, it didn't have. So it hurts my daughters foot and leg as the pedals spin. She is now a little intimidated by it. We will work through this eventually. The company I bought it from compensated me for Amazons false ad though.

My preschool bought 10 of these trikes. They are not used on a daily basis and they are stored in a building away from the elements. The children who use them meet the recommended age/size. Seven of the 10 broke in the same location (the wheel fork)where it is welded together. The manufactuer was very unwilling to help us replace the parts. Obviously the location of the break has been caused by faulty manufacturing. I do not recommend this trike and question the company's commitment to quality, safety assurance and customer satisfaction.

This was originally a gift from Santa for my 2nd son when he was 2.5. 4 years later and having endured the constant wear and tear from the same son and 2 of my other children this is still a favored ride-on amongst all of the children and with an easy seat adjuster accommodates our 2 year old just as easily as our 6 and 7 year olds. Plus, the frame is solid enough to endure constant free-wheeling rides from our 30-58 lb children down a 70 ft. long 30 degree slope in our backyard. How's that for rugid? Our tricycle was manufactured in Germany rather than other Kettler models that our manufactured in China.

We're looking forward to at least 4 more years of continued use from this happy trike! This was truly a great buy.
