We got this as a first puzzle for our 7 month old. She is, as the age recommendations suggest, still a little young for it, but I think will like it as she gets a bit older. The mirror in the middle is a particularly fun feature. Sadly, the item arrived with a crack in the wood of the purple piece, which I hope will not grow to split entirely. The mirror was also detached from the red center piece (looked like the glue failed) and it did have some sharp edges. We will probably keep the item anyway, as we like the design and can glue the mirror back on, but were a bit disappointed with the construction. We have other Educo products that seem more sturdy and are fans of this brand in general.Just pulled this out of the package. It was in a nice box and is wrapped in clear plastic. However, I can see through the plastic that the paint bubbled up and is missing in a couple of places like it was thick and peeled off so I will not be opening this to give to my 18 month old. The material appears to be some sort of pressed wood, maybe MDF or plywood, with a balsa wood-like weight and texture. The colors are bright, and there are little beads in a couple of the shapes. The shapes are fairly small though, and my son might put them in his mouth. From the size of the pieces, I would expect this to be for slightly older children. It's made in China as well. Will be returning this immediately because of the chipped paint. Very disappointed!
