Shelcore Sound Beginnings Groove 'N Go Music Maker

I purchased two of these as gifts for children in the family. The box says you can make up to 125 different songs. Maybe it should read 10 different sounds. The toy seems to have a mind all its own. It makes noise rather your playing with it or not and it makes the same music over and over. We've tried rotating the rings, removing a ring and pressing on the head, all which the directions say will give you different results. No matter what it does the same thing over and over. I ordered other toys made by Shelcore and I would say about 3/4 of the toys I ordered made by this same manufacturer do not work.

This is a colorful stacking toy with a friendly stuffed "face" but not much more than that.

It does play music, but as another reviewer mentioned it seems to play the same few songs over and over on its own schedule. It also does not dance or move along to its songs as the text on box seems to claim it will.

I have this toy out for use by a group of 8 children and it hasn't held anyone's interest longer than a few minutes. It's headed for the Goodwill, unfortunately.

I just purchased this product at Toys R Us on sale about 33% off. When I got home, before I opened the box, I read the reviews. To the person who could not get her toy to move & dance around: like most electronic toys these days, this toy is loaded with cheap, limited-power heavy duty batteries. To get the full effect of the toy, change the batteries to quality, fresh alkaline batteries. After I changed the batteries in my toy, it THEN would dance around when I pressed the "sound beginnings" button. To the person who says this toy does not have an off button, it DOES: the selector switch has three settings, display mode (for in the store), the off mode (push the selector switch to the center), and the regular play mode. I think toy is adorable, and well worth the money I paid. I do think the concept (selecting different sounds/tunes to create different songs) is beyond my 14-month old, and maybe even beyond the comprehension of an 18-month old. But I can compose the "songs" for her, and she loves listening to them and watching the toy dance and spin around. I'll bet before long she will discover the button that gets the action going! Also, because of the nature of the toy, I think it will older kids, also; maybe even up to 4-5 years old. I think this was a good purchase, and I may go back & get some more for gifts while it is on sale!

I got this toy for my 18 month granddaughter. It is much bigger than I thought it would be and so much fun! The sounds are different from most toys human sounds rather than computer generated. So much fun that even my 16 year old daughter loved it! With each turn of one of the rings you get a different type of sound (boing, or a child laughing etc.)You combine those to make music and fun. I am VERY happy with this toy.

This toy was very reasonably priced. So I tought you might just get what you pay for. But to my surprise. This toy offered way more than I anticipated. The circles actually come off. They spin, light up,dance,and it moves, sings, and talks. It was a great purchase. Our 6mo old loves it.
