PlanToys Mini Fire Engine

PlanToys Mini Fire EngineWe have all 5 vehicles in this series and this is hands-down my 21m old son's favorite.

Features:

Ladder moves up and down and spins in a circle

Gray roller actually spins and has a small bell inside (fire alarm? water?)

Smooth rolling wheels

Pros:

Simple yet entertaining

It is one of the very few wooden firetrucks out there that is appropriate for a toddler

Quiet with no flashing lights or sounds (other than the small bell)

Cons:

It is a little abstract (other than the ladder it takes some imagination to see how it resembles a firetruck)

If you're into natural/wood toys or are just looking for a nice, basic, small, safe firetruck for a toddler this is a great bet.

My 17 month old does enjoy playing with this cute toy. When you buy this toy it comes in two pieces, the truck and the ladder. While attaching them I noticed right away that only two tiny little plastic clips hold them together. One drop on the floor (as all toddlers do) was all it took to break the clips. Now the ladder piece will not stay attached to the truck. Still usable, but frustrating none-the-less. It would be much better if it all came as one piece.

I just love this little firetruck. It's the only truck in the "mini" series that makes noise and has a few "tricks". (There is a bell inside and when the ladder turns it makes a clicking noise).

I bought this toy for my 20 month old son. I thought it was the cutest thing and was very excited about it. But to my disappointment, he just isn't that into it. He never plays with it until I pick it up and make sounds with it and seem to be having a blast playing with it myself (to entice him)then he wonders what all the fuss is about, plays with it for .2 seconds and then lets it continue gathering dust in a corner. It's so sad because it's such a cute toy, I just don't think it has enough features to keep a toddler entertained, or maybe my little one is just too picky.

Another con I see is that it's very heavy and once it fell on my foot and it hurt beyond words!! It's a solid piece of wood so it hit me with a serious clunk. Also, the ladder part actually came off, and whenever my son does venture to touch it, the ladder falls off again. I would have loved to give this toy a much higher rating, but it just isn't entertaining enough for my son. I give it two stars only because I like it so much myself (it looks cute and is eco-friendly), otherwise it really would only be a one star toy.

The only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it hasn't been one of my daughter's favorite toys...it's one of mine though!:)

Of course I love the fact that Plan Toys uses non-toxic paints and this truck is absolutely adorable.

The ladder lifts up and rotates, and the gray cylinder you see in the picture spins and jingles. Not an obnoxious fire engine noise like a cheap, plastic one would be but a fun little noise as it rolls along.

We also have the mini recycling truck and love it.

I just think you can't go wrong with these trucks from Plan Toys -they are the perfect size for toddlers, and I know it will stay in our home for years to come.
