I ordered this for a little girl turning one. She likes it but often ignores it as I think she doesn't recognize the character yet. It's soft all over, which is good for younger kids. The materials are not very durable, but should last a while. I believe for someone bringing it everywhere with them that this may get dirty. Unlike other dolls, this one is washable because of no plastic parts. Also, it's much smaller than it looks. It is indeed 12 inches in total length, it just looks smaller because of the oversized fins and head.All in all, it's a great alternative to a traditional doll, especially for younger kids.
