American made. I had the choice between this one at $25 and one made in China for $10. Easy choice. Good workmanship. My grandkids love it as I did when i had one as a child.

I like the wood and the quality of this piece, however you practically need a real hammer to get some of the pegs in. Maybe they will loosen over time, but out of the box I could get only one peg to hammer down flush. Currently it's impossible for my son to hammer any of them even a few centimeters, luckily all he cares about is the noise right now.

I bought this toy for our 2 year old grandson and 10 month old twins. Previously, I had purchased the Melissa and Doug pounding toy. In that version, the pegs were easily removed and lost the first morning. The pegs on this toy are snug. The only negative is that the noise might drive you nuts, but that doesn't bother the kids. :-)
