Crayola 3 Ct Washable Tadoodles Crayon Buddies

Crayola 3 Ct Washable Tadoodles Crayon BuddiesI was sooooo excited to try these with my twins boys! What a disappointment!!! First, the crayons just come right out of the plastic holders. My son had all three crayons pulled out within 30 seconds (before I could even demonstrate how to color on the paper with them). While I was trying to put the blue crayon back into it's thing, my other son just bit the top off the red crayon no problem. Then they decided that throwing them would be fun. Again, the crayons just came right out. In addition, the color of the crayons does not match the colors of the holders. I would have made the dark blue crayon's holder mostly blue (not mostly red and purple with a light blue stripe), etc. The yellow one holds the red crayon and the blue one holds the green crayon. My last complaint is that they are bottom heavy. This means they rest with the crayon side up. So, when my sons would go to grap them, they have to figure out how to flip them over in order to draw with them.

I loved the concept of a safe, easy-to-hold crayon for toddlers. Unfortunately, my 13 month-old picked two of the TaDoodles up and started tapping them together and one just fell apart. That was followed by a mad scramble to pick up all the little internal parts, one of which I had to fish out of her mouth! And to make matters worse, she proceeded to pick the remaining two TaDoodles up by the crayon tips, and they just slid out of their holders and again, went immediately into her mouth. Total time for me to chuck all three of the things? Less than 5 minutes. Very disappointing.

Oh how I wish I had read these reviews first. I was so happy to have something that I thought would be easy for my 13 month old to draw with. I excitedly gave her one, and within 2.5 seconds, she had bitten the top off the red one and was on her way to muching the rest. I can totally see that the crayons are exactly the choking hazard size and come out easily (if they aren't nibbled to pieces first). It's not even easy to draw with. I am absolutely floored that these are not recalled. It's a "no brainer" that this is a choking hazard. Please, please for the safety of your little ones, do not buy! I encourage everyone to complain to Crayola.

At this point, I'm just throwing my voice in with the others, if only to underscore how completely ineffective these crayons are at their purpose. Does Crayola even have a product testing department? With actual children??

My newly 1-year-old daughter received these as a Christmas present, and I'm so glad I didn't spend my own money on them!!

My daughter did all the things the other posters' kids did. In addition to that, the crayons were so soft that my 4-year-old was able to smash them flat very easily. I'm not a choke hazard worrier but if I were, the crayons that come out so easily are definitely a choking hazard, as they are about 1/2 inch wide, and 2 inches long (maybe a 'swallowing hazard' would be more appropriate, since they are THAT SMALL). Even if you were able to get your child to use them, once the tip is gone, the toy is useless, since there's no way to get the rest of the crayon to sit higher. That's just wasteful to me.

My solution was the same as the other posters, I went and bought the 16-pack of big fat crayons for my daughter, and we're much better off.

I was very excited when I heard about these, and the whole TaDoodles line of products. I don't know about the markers, but the crayons and paints have some very basic design flaws. My 21-month-old daughter loves to color, so I told all of the grandparents about TaDoodles for Christmas. The crayons are hard to grab and get in the right position for coloring, the crayons fall out, then the washable wax is so soft it gets everywhere! The paints were even worse. The little bristles acted like siphons, and paint just kept coming out, even when the toy was upright. The paint we did put on paper still wasn't dry the next day. The only redeeming quality is that both the crayon and paint truly does wash out of everything, but who wants the mess to begin with? She does just fine with regular crayons, so don't waste your money. Her Christmas presents got all of about 30 minutes of use before we gave up on them.
