Intex Recreation Froggy Fun Baby Pool, Age 1-3

Intex Recreation Froggy Fun Baby Pool, Age 1-3I bought this for my 18 month old granddaughter to use in my backyard when she comes to visit. She enjoys being in it. Here are some things to consider before you purchase it and also some reasons why I like this.

1. The picture makes this look much bigger than it is. The inflated pool area has a 28 inch diameter and a maximum fill line of 4 inches. That is plenty of room for one child, but probably too small if you want to have a friend.

2. The pool holds 12 gallons and takes just minutes to fill with a garden hose. Although there is no drain plug, you don't need one. Even when full the pool is not heavy. It took me literally two seconds to lift it up and empty the water when I was done.

IMPORTANT: As the owner of a 16x32 inground pool I am very familiar with pool water and chemicals. DO NOT use any chemicals with this baby pool with the thought that this will save you from emptying the pool out each day. As a practical matter you would not be able to measure the appropriate amount of chlorine for 12 gallons of water (my 500 gallon spa uses only 1oz of a spa chlorine). Just empty the pool each day and refill with clean water for the next use. DO NOT use the same water over and over.

3. The rainbow sunshade really does work. It provides shade for the whole pool (not that hard really). The flip side is that my grandaughter can't walk around this pool because the sunshade extends over one half and is too low for her to walk under. Not a critique, just an observation.

4. Even when filled with water the pool can easily be rotated to adjust to the position of the sun.

5. The inflatable bottom consists of multiple air cushions, which are comfortable to sit on.

6. I used an electric inflator with a tube adjustment on the nozzle to inflate this with no problem (the directions say to inflate only with a manual inflator). You just have to make sure that you don't overinflate this, which is true of any blowup toy.

7. There are three items to be inflated: the bottom on which the water sits, the ring encircling the pool with the frogs head, and the sunshade. For an inexpensive item I was pleased to see that its air valves do not immediately release the air after you remove the inflator. That makes it much easier to fill than cheap blowup items where air comes shooting out of the valve the second you remove the inflator.

Bottom line: This is a nice little pool for a small child to sit in to cool off on a hot day. I think it is a good value for the total cost of $15.03 that I paid as a Prime member (the price has since increased).

Update July 5, 2012: This is sturdier than I thought. My granddaughter loves to squeeze the frog's head and move it back and forth. She also likes to pull on the sunshade and see how far down she can bend it. So far no problems from her doing either one.

Update July 21, 2012: I needed to deflate the pool and store it. There is no quick way to deflate it. I opened all the air valves and it deflated overnight on its own. Just keep that in mind in case you decide to take this on vacation or to the beach. You won't be able to deflate it at the last minute in time to pack it up.

I purchased this baby pool to take to the beach with my 5 month old baby. We also let our 4 year old niece play inside of the pool too, but it was a bit small for her. I think the up to 3 years though is the perfect age for this pool. Obviously with a baby you have to be very attentive. The frog design is really the best I've seen. Any kid will have fun kicking or playing with the frog face. The shade also provides good cover without causing the pool to blow away in the wind. It's easy to setup, but does have multiple valves to fill with air. It should take 5 to 10 minutes to blow up depending on your lung capacity and how many helpers.

Purchased this for my 10 month old son to use on our beach vacation and it was absolutely perfect!! We received several commpliments about this pool from other parents who wished they had one just like it for their little ones. It was the perfect place for him to play and the perfect place for him to take naps on the beach. We carried fresh water in a bucket to the froggy pool, put it in and let him play. Once he was ready for a nap, we dumped the water out and put a clean towel in the bottom for him to lay on. The canopy provides the necessary shade to keep him safe and out of the sun. The padded floor gave him a safe spot to play and a comfy place to sleep. I can not say enough about this pool, I love it! We had a beach umbrella that didn't get much use because this was so easy and provided all the shade we needed. We spent hours at the beach without having to go up to the room for naps. Great purchase...a must have for anyone with a baby that wants to really enjoy the beach!

I got this specifically for my little guy about to turn 1 because I wanted something that would be small enough he could play in it by himself, to keep the bigger kids from tracking dirt in his water, splashing him... This pool is so cute! The quality seems very good, great seams. It's small, perfect for a toddler (or maybe 2), but you couldn't get in there with your kid. It was exactly what I wanted. My little guy was afraid of the big rainbow sunshade but since it inflates separately, I was able to deflate that part and kind of tuck it under the pool which solved that. :) Since it's small, it is quick to set up and take down. My son loves smacking the frog head and watching it bounce back.

UPDATE after 1 year:

The connection between the frog head and the pool is broken, for no reason. Now it is totally flat.

How can I fix it!

I did a thorough research before I decided buy this pool and It worth the price!

The color is much more bright and vivid than the picture in the ad. My 10 month old love it so much. He just keep splashing water and turn around and around and around. It is very sunny when he was playing. But the canopy blocked almost all the sun! It is terrific for taking picture.

BTW: When not in summer, this pool can be used as a ball pit.
