Intex My Baby Float

Intex Baby FloatThis float was a vacation godsend! I had spent all kinds of money on fancy contraptions to introduce my 5 month old to the water on a recent vacation, but all the babies in the pool when we got there had "my baby float." Baby was a bit nervous her first time in the pool without a float, and I worried she wouldn't take to the water, but we put her in "my baby float" and she was so happy.... it seemed to make the pool feel less big and overwhelming for her. There is no doubt that any baby using this product should be watched at ALL times, but the criss-cross seat does a good job of supporting her in the water and still letting her legs be free. The other reviewer mentions that the inner-tube sits lower than the outer tube it is designed to be that way, and wasn't a problem at all. I am not sure what the issue for that reviewer was, unless she was using it wrong. I highly recommend this as a cheap, fun thing to bring along on any pool trip. I appreciated that a small baby didn't get lost in it. And best part, when deflated it is flat and folds up really small. Best $5 I ever spent -totally changed our vacation.

I bought this for our daughter who is not 15 months. This is a faulty product. i had it for about a month, we used it a few times a week. We went swimming on July 4 and as always I had my hand on her float. As we were floating around she started to sink right down the middle of her float. I grabbed her before she went onduer water nd we looked at the float. The seam where the leg hole (holder seat) attaches to the iner ring was totally detached, not torn just came right off as if the seal just came off. I fould on July 5 that there has been a national recal for this same problem on other brands of flats very much like this one. however this one is not on the recall list. I called Intex and asked what I should do about it and they said to just buy a new one. I said no I don't want anyone else to get hurt because your product has a fault, and the man I talked to said he gets 148 calls a day and only one call a week has to do with this float having a defect so it is not a problem. I was not impressed, I guess Intex is ok with little ones having accidents in their products. I am so greatful that I always keep a grip on my little one because if I had not benn holding her she would have gone underwater fast! I think one case of a float having a defect is one case to many. Please be careful with this product and be aware that there is a defect in it that allows a child to go underwater when the seam comes off. Intex dows not care about our children but I do. Please be careful!

It says this product is for up to 2 years old but the weight limit is 25 lbs. My daughter is 10 months and already 22.5 lbs. Granted, she is on the taller side but not *that* big. So we will not get as much use out of it as hoped. Just something to be aware of.

Also, this product is made of simple vinyl. Hence, leaking phthalates. It would be great if Intex could come up with some product made of (P)EVA so that our kids don't have to absorb chemicals.

We took our 4 month old son on his first vacation to a waterpark. He was about 16lbs at the time when we went. I know the float says it's for 1-2 years old or up to 25lbs I believe, but we used it anyways. He is able to sit up on his own, so we thought it would be okay. He absolutely LOVED it! We had a blast because of this thing. It allowed us to keep our hands free, let him kick around under our supervision. We were able to pull him around in the water, it really made our vacation a good time. Other reviews state that the little tabs that you blow the air into pop open, we didn't have a problem. If you secure them they way they are supposed to be, they will not pop open. I would recommend this inexpensive item to anyone going on vacation with a little one!

Want Intex My Baby Float Discount?

I purchased this as a second float for my toddlers since they each wanted to float in the higher quality one that we have. I figured I'd get a cheap second and that was a mistake. After only using it a couple times the flap between the legs that keeps baby from falling into the water snapped. Thankfully we keep the kids right next to us even while in floaties, because otherwise my child would have gone plummenting under water. Spend a little extra and get something that will last all summer and that you can relax and know your child is safe.
