Fisher-Price Discover 'n Grow Light up & Go Turtle Soother

Fisher-Price Discover 'n Grow Light up & Go Turtle SootherMy son sleeps in a pack and play in our room. I really wanted to find something that he could manipulate and play with when he wakes at night like the Fisher-Price Rainforest Waterfall Peek-a-Boo Soother that our other son uses in his crib. It's been difficult to find things that will clip onto a pack and play, but I found this item at our local big baby store and bought it.

The Light & Go works by pressing the large turtle shell (really good for small hands). You press it once and it lights up, press it again and it plays music, press it again and it plays another song; 1. Brahms Lullably, 2. Hush, Little Baby, 3. Twinkle, Twinkle, and 4. Beautiful Dreamer... all played very slowly to help keep your baby calm and sleepy. On the side of the turtle is the on/off volume adjustment; two volumes loud and louder, wish they'd makes these things with a rolling volume adjustment so you can have a little more control over the sound. These soothers sound great during the day when there's other noise, but in the dead night of a quiet room, they are impossibly loud even at their lowest setting. That being said, you could place tape over the sound holes to make it quieter. The night light feature is actually pretty good, not glaringly bright, but soft yellow and soothing.

The clip on design is really a great idea! It uses a tension slider that pulls out from the turtle's side and clips onto the side of the pack and play. The only problem we encountered is our son sleeps using the bassinet attachment, so with the attachment the tension clip doesn't clip very well because it's too wide. He won't be sleeping in the bassinet much longer, which means we could use the clip, but then it will be too high for him to reach, and when he is able to stand and reach it he'll probably want to take it off and toss it (our first son was precocious that way). So I'm so-so on the clip design; would have been better if the slider came out a little further to be more adaptable.

The Light & Go Soother can sit on a table or clip to the pack and pay, not bad for using it as a travel item. All in all, I can't say I'm really crazy about this thing and will probably return it, mostly because it doesn't quiet meet my needs. I feel like it should have allowed baby to press the shell and turn it off, but as it is baby has to listen to it for 15 minutes before it shuts off. If baby has it on the light option (which they can only do if they press it once, otherwise it will only cycle through song selections) then the light will go off after 5 minutes.

I purchased this travel light for our holidays. We have a fisher price rain forest muscial mobile at home and my daughter falls asleep every night looking at the light.

I was concerned that she would struggle to fall alseep without the light while on holidays, however I discovered a few nights before our trip that the muscial function was probably more important than the light.

I had never previously used the music for sleeping, as I felt it was too loud. However, she seemed to really calm down with the music, even though I found it a bit tinny.

I had hoped to put the travel light in the cot with her, but it was too big. I instead placed it next to the travel cot and she could see the light through the cot fabric and found the music soothing (even if I didn't). Although I do think the light goes off a little too quickly though.

Anyway, all in all the product was a success and I am even using the music funtion now that we are home.

I have being using this for 3 weeks with ourGraco Travel Lite Crib with Bassinet, Ally and have been happy with it so far. We needed some type of soother for our preemie, who is up every 1-3 hrs around the clock, but most crib soother do not work on the pack and plays. I was excited to see this product, especially for the price.

The clip is a bit tight with the bassinet feature if placed on the long side of the pack and play wall, but I find it works perfectly if clipped to the short side of the bassinet liner.

The bassinet is within arms reach of our bed. I can push the light to check on our daughter without turning on the much brighter side table light to check on her and then turn on the music if needed. The music is soothing and she will often fall back asleep for another hour. Always a plus with a newborn!

The first push of the button gives light for 5 minutes, a second push turns on the music for 15 and a long 3rd push turns off the whole thing. The batteries it came with last us about 3 weeks. I have read on other site reviews that it does go through batteries fast, but don't most baby requiring devices!

This soother is fairly basic and may not entertain older babies, but for infants who you just want to go back to sleep I think it's great! I also like that is is easy to take on and off the bassinet and slide into the diaper bag for travel and visits.

My granddaughter who is 10 months old hates riding in a dark car at night. This item entertains and just gives off enough light to be able to drive at night with her. Thanks

The light is not bright as I expected. The music is very soothing to baby. It last long enough to put baby to sleep and fits on her play yard/crib.
