At 7 months old he is able to hold it himself and enjoys playing with it, even shakes it like a rattle. Only holds his attention
for a few minutes but it is a nice addition to his toy collection.
Buy Hohner / 8" Toddler Rainmaker Now
I ordered this toy for my 8 month old son and he loves it! He really likes the sound it makes and watching the beads go from one end to the other. My only complaint is that the ends are pink and purple and in an item that you cannot select the color I would have preferred more gender neutral colors. Overall though, a great toy and pleased with the purchase.Read Best Reviews of Hohner / 8" Toddler Rainmaker Here
Not What You SeeThe rainmaker arrived as described, but not as pictured. The photo for this item makes it seem slimmer and longer than it actually is. The actual toy has only six 'levels' for the beads to fall through (seven if you count one on the very bottom that beads can just barely fall through).
Facets Trick the Eye
The clear plastic tube is smooth on the outside, but faceted on the inside. This makes the beads difficult to watch as they fall (the facets distort things a bit and throw your eye off). This is probably the biggest disappointment for me, as my daughter's favorite part about this kind of toy is just watching the colored beads cascade down.
But...
The rainmaker is a fun toy, so we're planning on keeping it. It's not too loud (won't disrupt conversation when she's on my lap playing with it), which is a definite plus!I got this for my son for Christmas. He is now going on eight months old and still enjoys it. Although, he is better at playing with it now and can flip it over to make the sound. The plastic seems kind of cheap. It was worth the cost.
