Early Years Rocket Baby Activity Set

I bought this for my daughter (11 mo.) because she really enjoys the Melissa & Doug-type fill and spill toys. She's at an age where she LOVES unpacking things (my purse, her diaper bag, my husband's gym bag), so I was hoping to give her another, more age-appropriate alternative. This toy captured her attention right away. The flying saucer and shooting star rattle when shaken, the moon crinkles, the alien is a bean bag, and the puppy barks, so there are lots of things to do and explore. My daughter smiles every time the puppy barks, and she seems particularly fond of the moon and the star.

We have already found lots of ways to play with this toy. She is very interested in learning the names of objects right now, and this toy is great for that. She'll point at one of the pieces, we'll name it ("star"), she'll move on to the next one ("puppy"), and so on. She also likes to practice "sharing" by giving me one of the pieces and waiting for me to to hand it back. And, of course, the pieces are fun for throwing, shaking, and chewing. So far, we've gotten a lot of play out of it.

The only drawback is that it's tough for her little hands to pull some of the pieces out. If you stuff everything into the rocket, she can get the objects at the top without much trouble, but she can't pull them from all the way down in the bottom. The manufacturer's suggested age for this toy is 12+ months, so she may just be a bit young for it. In the mean time, we help her get the toys from the bottom of the rocket, or we put them in a larger container for her. Overall, she enjoys this toy quite a bit.

This is an awesome product. Includes 5 little space-theme toys that all fit inside the rocketship, and there's even a window so the "astronaut" can peek out. Every piece does something (rattle, crinkle, etc.) so it all holds my 1 year old's attention. He loves taking all the things out and putting them back in. Plus there is a decent mirror on the bottom of the rocketship too, plus a ring on top if you wanted to sttach it to a car seat, stroller, etc. Couldn't find anything like this in the toy store but very glad I found it here.

I bought this set for my niece on her 1st birthday, and it was an instant hit. Each toy has a different texture so she loves to grab them all. The only downfall is that the toys are a tight squeeze into the rocket... I'd like it better if she could put them in/take them out on her own. Still a great buy, though.

I am a big fan of all the little people toys. They last the abuse my 2 year old put on them. The toys themself are simple with out a lot of bells and noise. Most don't even require batteries. My 4 yr. old grandson was elated to receive this toy. It was one, if not the, favorite toy he received. I loved that it didn't have a jillion parts to be lost amongst the other jillion toy parts throughout the house. It also has sounds and music but it isn't soooooo loud as to be annoying. Our family has owned quite a few of these spikey balls and they are a never ending source of fun! When I saw this glow-in-the-dark one, I thought we just had to have it. It is the perfect size for my 15 month old as well as my 5 & 6 year olds (I think I need to order 2 more so there isn't anymore fighting!). As with all glow-in-the-dark products, you have to "charge" it by holding it up to a light source for a few seconds (the longer the better) for it to glow....but when you do, it surely is bbbbrrriiiiggghhhhttt!!!! And it stays that way for quite some time, long enough for my little one to fall asleep comfortably (I keep it next to his bed at night and it slowly dims as he falls asleep). It is super bouncy and has a valve for you to deflate or inflate as needed. My only gripe about it is how spikey the tips are on it...they are getting softer the more we play with it, but when we first got it...ouchy if it bumped your face!!

We ordered this item for our 15 month-old daughter. My problem is not so much with the toy itself, but the image used to advertise it. Initially we received a package with a ball inside that only filled up about 1/2 the packaging and was haphazardly taped around the outside, center of the box with clear packing tape. I immediately assumed someone returned the wrong size ball in the packaging to Amazon. I called and the people at Amazon were great. They did everything I could ask for including shipping out a new ball overnight and paying for the return shipping of the initial item. When the second ball arrived, it too was significantly smaller than the circular openings on the package. However, instead of a poor tape job holding the ball in, the entire package was placed in a generic zip-loc bag. I still feel that this is the wrong item it is clearly smaller than the ball shown in the image but my daughter won't know the difference at her age and she will probably enjoy the smaller ball even more. However, I will not buy another Edushape toy online again since I feel I will never really know what I'm going to get.

I did read the reviews before purchasing this, so we did not expect it to be the size it is depicted. Yes, it did come in a ziploc bag and was fairly small, but ours was even smaller as it was mostly deflated when it arrived. I have no idea if it was deflated before they boxed, or if it was simply shoved in the very flat box it arrived in.

I was all ready to send this back when my husband suggested using a bike pump first. It worked like a charm. We were able to pump it up to the size it should have been to fit in the cardboard wrapper it arrived with. It still was not the size a child could sit on, but it seemed much more reasonable than what arrived. We ended up letting a bit of the air back out so it was spongier and easier to catch. In the 6 months we've had it, it has deflated somewhat again, but it seems to be the perfect kicking size for our toddler, so we've left it alone. Thankfully we know we can pump it up again when we need to.

It does glow in the dark for quite some time and if it weren't for the catching surface it could probably be used as a make shift night lite in bed for kids who just need it to fall asleep and not all night long. It might even work out of bed if it were close enough, as the glow is good but not so bright as to light from very far away.

I'm still not certain I could recommend this product, hence the three stars. Maybe if it was around seven or eight bucks it would be worth the hassle since the glow is fun and the nubbins on the outside make it so much easier for a toddler to catch.

Bought this for my 15 month old for Christmas and when it came in the ball was shipped in a gallon sized ziplock along with the package. The package was MUCH larger than the ball. I am not sure if the ball is supposed to be that small or if the package wasn't complete. The pictures on the side of the package has a 2 year old sitting on the ball. The ball we recieved couldn't even tolerate my normal sized 15 month sitting on it. Needless to say, I was VERY disappointed.

I'll give you the con right off the bat: it's cheaply made. I expect this from a costume though.

The fit worked for us. The size listed is 2-4T. My son is long and lean and usually wears a size below his age group (right now he is 2 yrs 2 mths and his 2T clothes are still a bit large on him). The costume was a tiny bit big, but we were happy enough with the fit. It would have to be a very small 3-4 year old for this to work. I think the more accurate size is 1-2 yrs.

This costume is adorable! It was worth the money ($29) to me for the reactions of everyone who saw him in it, the photos we got, and just the happiness I get from that much cuteness. I didn't see any other kids wearing this so it had the unique factor too.

Unless you're crafty with a sewing machine and could make your own for less money and better quality, I highly recommend this costume.

I ordered this product for my toddler for Halloween. It arrived on time, but came with 3 brown stains. It also, shows anything that is worn underneath it and is very thin!... I tried to contact them to return it, and they will not return for the full price... So I have paid to have it shipped originally, paid for the product, and now I have to pay to ship it back and receive only 80% back of the original outfit cost. Had I have known that I would have never ordered it. EVER Especially since the sizing on this product is difficult to interpret, I assumed there would be no hassels on returns...

This item is thicker than most Halloween costumes I have seen. My son will be 11 months when he wears this in October so I went with the 1-2 because he is long. It seems to run big, I probably should have gone a size down. Other than that I'm very happy with my decision.

Safety 1st Sounds n Lights Discovery Walker, Dino

My son loves this walker. It took him a day or so to get the idea and start moving his feet, but now he is zipping around our house.

I like that the toys can swing out, which leaves you with a fairly good sized tray for snacks. The tray is also deep enough that my son can move his cereal around without knocking it out of the tray. The toys are ok. They don't seem to be super high quality, but they provide a little bit of extra stimulation. Most of the appeal, though, seems to be in the freedom that it provides for my son.

The safety grips on the bottom of the walker seem to work well. For example, the walker won't go over our flooring thresholds because they are too high. However, I would note that we only have hard surface flooring in our home, and we don't have any stairs.

*Update 12/14/10* My son is 11 months now, and he still enjoys his walker. However, there is no seatbelt in the walker, and he has figured out that if he grabs onto things, then he can pull himself up to stand in (or on) the walker. This has become a big safety issue, so I wanted to note the lack of a seatbelt for other parents with climbers (or future climbers).

Like any first time parents, we wanted a walker for our baby in hopes he'll learn to walk soon. It was hard to decide on one as there was no reference on what the minimum height should be and I was worried that our boy is still too early for a walker. So for your reference, our baby is about 3.5 months, and 2 feet tall when we purchased this walker. With the lowest setting, he is still not able to reach the ground. However, we were able to make some adjustments to it to make it lowered so that his feet can now reach the ground and he is able to push himself backwards.

The toys on the tray are ok. I thought they were a bit simple and not very entertaining: the bear at the end flashes a red light and plays 3 different sounds, the palm tree has rotating mirrors, the dinosaur turns and clicks, the yellow ball spins with tiny balls inside so it also makes noise, and a red plastic toy tied to the tray and our boy ends up just putting it in his mouth. I liked how the toys has its own tray and you are able to move them to the side so you can use the tray for snacks or other toys.

The only thing we didn't like about this walker is the design of the seat. The two holes for his legs are way in front where his legs dangle instead of allowing him to stand up and move freely. I hope they will reconsider the design to either make the leg holes wider or move it to the middle of the seat more.

Overall, this is walker is affordable, simple to use and set up, slides effortlessly on hardwood floor, and great for travel as the seat can be lowered to flatten. Also, the cloth seat is removable for washing when it gets soiled. It's a good buy!

Originally, I gave this walker only 2 stars stating "We have a 7 1/2 month old baby girl who is starting to pull up and can stand on her own...The leg holes in the seat are at the front instead of the middle, forcing the baby into a sitting, rather than standing position. My baby girl will be walking on her own without the need for a walker by the time that she's tall enough to touch the floor while sitting in this product."

What I didn't realize a week ago is that she had to learn how to stand up in the walker instead of use the seat, and that the walker is not too tall for her (she's between 26 and 27 inches tall). She's still not quite walking, but the walker will allow her to do so when she figures it out. While this design was frustrating at first, it allows your child to sit when they tire of standing. After understanding how the seat works, I consider it an innovation rather than a shortcoming. The way the two sections of toys swivel out of the way to reveal a tray underneath is pretty neat as well.

I stand by my original statement, "The walker is a great value, well constructed, and the toys are great."

I bought this for my almost 4 month son who has been really trying to stand and tensing his legs. I pondered a stationary exersaucer vs. walker. I decided on this walker because it got a couple of good reviews and I wanted something that would fit two purposes, stationary entertainment and walking practice when he is older. My son is bigbut his feet are a few inches from the floor. That's fine with me since I don't want him moving in it yet, anyway. I folded up a blanket and put it under his feet so there won't be too much pressure on his bottom in the seat. He is happy and has been trying to explore the little toys. I would reccommend this walker.

I read the reviews before I bought it. It said that there old enough baby feet were no where near touching floor. The lowest adjustment was too high. I ignored it since my granson is tall for his age. He is now 8 mos old and his feet dangle. Should have listened. This manuf needs to check and compare heights. Also seat leg cutouts are quite stiff and when baby sits in it for 15 mins (since he cant go anywhere) thighs are red. Also the light up dinosaur lights up only half the time. Soft Photo Recognition Flashcard Game in Yellow

I purchased this for my 13 month old granddaughter and filled each card with family pictures! She loved them from the first and now carries the little bag around with her. She says the name of the person in the picture and is simply enchanted with the whole game. The frames for the pictures seal them in very well and the soft, flexible materials are great. She does put them in her mouth sometimes and other than a few teeth marks, they seem to be surviving all the attention they are getting. Amazon again is a winner in picking great products to sell!!

The Smurfs Movie Romper Costume

I purchased this in a size 2T-4T for my 3 year old son's Halloween costume this year. With it being a size 2T-4T, I thought it would fit him, especially since he is on the smaller side. I even measured him and it seemed like it would fit him based on the measurements provided in the item's description. When I received the costume, I tried to put it on him right away. It was WAY too small. It didn't even fit my 2-year-old daughter and she is petite. This size is, without question, for a 1-year-old or younger. The size description is extremely misleading and I am very disappointed.

It is also not a very well made costume. One wrong movement or step and it will easily rip.

I am sending the costume back, but I am not only out the shipping cost I paid to receive the costume, I am out the shipping cost I paid to send the item back.

My son looks absolutely adorable in his Halloween costume this year. Even though its 6-12 months it is easily taken up to be custom fit. Cute and has cutouts at the bottom so that the costume isn't being walked on, the bottom of the kids shoes are. Its a definite cool costume since the new Smurfs movie came out this year. Bought this for my grandson's first birthday. He loves checking out all the colorful tags and pushing the beep button on the top which makes the headlights flash. It is soft and huggable and provides many hours of fun playtime. He especially likes looking under the window flap to find the doggie. When you pull the tab on the back the car shimmies. I just got this in the mail, opened it up...are you freaking kidding me?! This is like a toy organizer for dolls...like doll size. The top of the thing only goes up to my knees, btw, I'm 5'2 and am not freakishly long legged. They must have used super miniature toys and books for the photo. One of the bins can barely hold a stuffed animal. Sending this back asap! For the size it is, it is not worth nearly 40 bucks. On a side note, I'm sure it's a decent product, but it does not fit our needs one bit. It'd be good for a 1 year old, but not much older.

The little figures going around are adorable. It is a good idea, not too big and bulky BUT there is something seriously wrong with the music. The best way I could describe it is the music you would hear playing in the baby's room in a horror movie. It is terribly off key and really kind of disturbing. I am shocked Infantino OK'd this. Not sure if it was just mine, but not taking the chance.

The animals are really adorable, it's sweet and simple. I like the music I didn't think it was creepy at all. My DD loves to pull the cord to get the music playing and the animals and background turning. It is just too cute! I love the fact that it does not require any batteries. The only thing is that there is a part in the music that sounds out of tune, but I think it's just the one I have right now. I had gotten one before that sounded great (nothing out of tune, just nice and clear and kind of loud), but had to send it back because the cord got stuck halfway up. Overall, it's not so badly out of tune and it is just so adorable that I decided to keep it. Besides, my little one seems to have a lot of fun pulling that cord.

Radio Flyer Soft Rock and Bounce Pony

We, or should I say Santa, purchased this horse for our 15 month old daughter. The price was excellent. We love the Radio Flyer brand too since it's been around for many years and they make quality products.

I admit I was a little intimidated at first when I opened the box to find it in many pieces. Everything was packaged well. Use common sense and it will be simple to assemble. The directions are written more like a diagram with a few short descriptions.

We love the fact that the actual horse is machine washable and easy to remove too. We also like that there are no springs to pinch our daughter. The rubber is very thick and we aren't worried about it breaking. It doesn't make sounds like some of the other horses. However, almost every toy for kids makes sounds now. I think kids need basic toys too. It can teach imagination, balance and coordination.

The only cons would be that the frame is made of plastic, which is disappointing but then again everything is plastic now a days anyway. As long as the child is of the proper weight limit I don't think it would be an issue. Also, I noticed that the belly or feet of the horse could hit the floor a little while the child bounces or rocks if he/she is at the top of the weight limit. It does seem like it could slide on hard floors or short carpeting. We put a couple non-skid pads on the bottom and sort of pushed it on the carpet and it seemed to work better. I do think this horse is for the 15mo-3yr. old age range though. Our daughter wouldn't have been able to rock or bounce on her own at 12 months old. unless someone was holding on to her and doing it for her.

Overall I highly recommend this toy. You will not be disappointed.

Well, we have loved this horse until two weeks ago. It has been our 18 month old 26 pound baby boy's favorite toy, even after he rocked too hard and flipped the thing over backwards-the FIRST time. He got right back on,and I just hoped that it had been a strange fluke, but then he did it again. I hate to get rid of it, but this 2nd time after he flipped and landed on his head, it came down on top of him and the handle hit him in the nose. I would like to not be an alarmist and hope that he learns he can't rock that hard, but I'd also feel pretty awful if he keeps getting hurt. For now, we have a bed pillow on the floor behind it so that it doesn't rock so far back. We are so disappointed, this definitely won't last us til he's 3, or even 2 at this rate. Real Bummer.

This horse is very small. It could only be used by a one or two year old at the most. The one I received was defective, which was super disapointing after I put it completly together. It comes unassebled in ten thousand peices.....

My 15 month old daughter loves it. Received the shipment earlier than promised. The only reason I am not giving a 5 star rating is because my daughter is not able to climb on it or get out of it on her own. The rocker base is too wide for her to get on unassisted.

**Update**

I am changing the rating to 1 as this rocker flipped backward when my daughter was rocking today. Luckily she landed on the carpet. This is certainly not a safe rocker.

I love this toy, and so does my 7-month-old daughter! It's well-made, and moves fairly well on wheels. My daughter likes to pick it up by the wire around it and shake it and gnaw on it. Great little toy.

Skip Hop Funky Farmyard Build a Barn Blocks

Skip, Hop, Build a Barn Blocks could have been a fun toy for younger little ones, but the blocks are simply to large for their smaller hands. Once your little one is able to sit up alone and interact with his toys, the blocks have minimal play value and no educational aspect to warrant a recommendation. By the time he was seven months old, the only thing our grandson found of interest was his ability to knock over the blocks when someone helpfully stacked them up. Otherwise, he ignored these in favor of several Haba items. Because the blocks are relatively large and are not squishy, he had to use both hands to "lift" the blocks. As a child who likes to grasp and manipulate his toys, these did not satisfy his play needs.

The cloth from which these blocks are made is coarsely woven and appears to be an inexpensive percale. The colors used on the sides, piping, and to imprint the animals are not particularly pleasing or vivid. I would not recommend purchasing these for your own infant or for a gift; there are many other items from which to choose.

The little tike we ordered these for seems to like them quite a bit. They're a nice size for picking up, throwing at the cat and chewing on the corners of. Oh, you're supposed to build things with them?

These blocks are really cute and easy on the grown up eye, but have also been one of my baby's favorites. We got them when he was 6 months and he continues to love them at 8 months. He loves knocking them down when stacked, they're good for chewing on, they have some smaller things to grab for fine motor skill development, and the bell sounds are pleasant. I look forward to him learning how to stack them himself!

Tolo Toys Pony Carousel

This toy is just great. It isn't loud, is sturdy, and is more interesting than similar toys that just have spinning balls inside. My baby loves it.

My son is five months old and this is one of his favorite toys. When he gets fussy we can hit the button and the sounds of the ponies spinning around instantly quiets him. He loves watching the ponies and the design is simple enough that he is even starting to push the button himself. Everyone that sees this toy in our living room talks about how pretty it is (it is much prettier in person than the picture makes it look) and how well it is made. I am pretty sure this is a toy that our son's children will be playing with.

bought in advance for grandson's first christmas. did a fair amount of research to find what I thought would be a great spinning top a motion he really enjoys. A complete waste toy does not move, so no sense of spinning and interior moves at high speed that a baby could not even recognize what is moving. Unfortunately, just passed date to return. Don't waste your money.

For some reason I thought the horses rocked back and forth but they don't. It's still a nice toy and better quality than what you find from the big brands out there. What I like is the top button is really sensitive so it's easy for small babies to push and get immediate gratification which is important when learning cause and effect.

I bought this for my 4 month old, he likes to watch it, but I was very surprised by how much my three year old likes it! She plays with it a lot and likes experimenting with the different speeds that she can make them spin. So, this is a toy that will probably be enjoyed for a long time!

This is also really cute, so it even makes a nice decoration in a child's room and would make a nice baby shower gift.

The toy appears to be very durable. I would HIGHLY recommend it!
