Little Tikes Endless Adventures Climb and Slide Castle

I got this toy because we live in a Townhouse and there isn't much room in our backyard for big toys for my 18 month old to climb on. This is a great indoor and outdoor toy. The moment we had it set up (which only took about 15 minutes and was NOT difficult at all) our son was all over it! He played with it for at least an hour straight. And knowing their attention spans at that age, this was short of a miracle. He can push the slide around because its not heavy enough to stay put. He has enjoyed learning to climb up both up the slide and on the rock-like stairs in the back. Overall this would be a great purchase for your early toddler. Much after 2 1/2 3 yrs I think the children will get bored with it.

I purchased this slide for a friend's child a couple of months ago. We put it together at the end of the party. Probably took us about 15-20 minutes to put together, and I do mean US, because it's quite hard to get some of the parts to fit together properly. It's pretty cute. The kids like the steering wheel part of it. What I don't like about it, though... the "ladder" part is more like a rock wall. There are only four foot-holds, and they are all pretty small, so it's difficult for little todder feet to really get a good grip on them. Once they successfully make it to the top of the ladder, there is a big six inch ledge they still have to climb up to get to the platform. The slide itself it rather steep. I had the opportunity to spend some time playing with the slide again this weekend, and I wasn't impressed. It seems to be even more wobbly than it was when we originally put it together. Overall, I just think it wasn't as easy or fun to use as it could be.

I purchased the Step 2 All Star Sports Climber for my own kid about a year ago. It has held up really well. It is much sturdier. The ladder has holes for the feet than are much easier to climb, it actually goes directly to the platform, and the slide itself is not as steep... so a little less scary for a nervous parent. It comes with three balls, has a basketball goal, a soccer goal, and a football goal built in, so it's a little more interesting. My only complaint about that slide is that the base could be wider than the top to prevent toppling over, because my kid likes to stand at the top and shake it so that it almost falls. I still recommend it over the Little Tikes slide, though.

My son received this for his 1st Birthday and he absolutely loves this toy! If I would have had this for my first child at age 1 there's no chance he would have been able to use it. My youngest son has been climbing on things for the past few months. He is such a daredevil. Well finally I begged family members to get him something that he could use to climb on that was age appropriate and that he wouldn't break. This is perfect for him. He climbs up it easily, stands up on it securely, and figured out the slide within a week. It is nice and small and will be perfect for the play room this winter. It is also really cute neutral tones. Now yes, there is the chance that your child will not be developmentally ready for this toy at age 1. The slide is a bit steep and the steps up are not perfect. This works for my kiddo because he likes the challenge and the thrill. My oldest son was much more timid and was did not have the climbing capabilities at this age as my youngest. But if you have a kid who scales everything at age 1 than this is the toy for you. If not maybe wait a couple of months and purchase this one or buy a different type when you think your kid is ready. I am very thankful for this climber for my little one and it has been a great distraction from him scaling all my other furniture that is not sturdy and breakable.

We bought this slide after our son had a blast on a similar one at a friend's house. We saw that the Little Tikes-recommended age is 12 months to four years, so we bought it.

Unfortunately, this slide is not even close to appropriate for children at 12 months -our son, who is 13.5 months and is reasonably well developed physically for his age (including lots of climbing), couldn't do much with it at all. There are two significant problems with the slide.

First, the "stairs" to get onto the slide are not stairs at all, but rather four narrow raised ridges (for lack of a better description) that stick out about 1/2 an inch and that your child is supposed to use to "climb" to get on the slide. Little Tikes describes it as "Easy climbing rock wall for beginners." Hardly. We tried it with our son wearing socks, wearing shoes and then barefoot, but the problem is that the ridges don't stick out nearly enough to provide sufficient footing to actually push off to climb up. The result is that our son struggled to get his footing on the ridges, but he was unable to do so -his feet basically kept slipping off the ridges -despite numerous, frustrating attempts. Take a look at the second Amazon-provided picture that shows the slide from behind and maybe you'll see what I mean. Also, I've posted two additional pictures for a better angle. In our opinion, there should be actual stairs, not these insufficiently raised ridges.

Second, the angle of the actual slide is a bit too steep for a one-year old. My wife and I closely supervised our son going down it a few times and we thought the steepness resulted in him going down too fast.

I'm giving one star instead of zero becaue (1) the product was extraordinarily easy to set up; and (2) I assume that as our son gets older and a bit bigger/more developed, he'll actually be able to enjoy the thing.

This toy arrived while my husband was out of town. I was able to put it together by myself in about 15 minutes, super easy to assemble. I wasnt sure about the "rock wall" steps instead of a traditional ladder, but now that we have it I much prefer this. My son's feet always slipped through the ladder of the traditional climbing slide. He finds the foot holds easily and occasionally when he falls down them they do not hurt as much as steps. As far as durability, I can get on the platform with my full body weight and the entire slide and platform feel very secure. I also think that my son is constantly problem solving and finding some new way to climb or play with another toy on this side. I feel like it is very educational.

He really likes to climb to the top and look through the small windows, and spin the wheel. He has quickly become confident enough to go down the slide without holding my hands. This toy is a pleasure, especially now that he wants to climb on everything! My 15 month old LOVES this toy. I also thought it was a great deal at the best price. Much lower than a lot of the other slides and has been a great deal of fun already. Two thumbs up!!!
