Educo Fill'n Build Block Cart

Educo Fill'n Build Block CartWe were very excited when we saw this toy in the store. It is exactly what we were looking for a walking toy for our little guy (11 months) that was quite simple looking. We were very disappointed when we put it together. It's extremely unstable. The front is far too light (even when piled with multiple heavy hard cover books!) and therefore is difficult for our little guy to use as leverage to pull himself up.

Once he is standing, the cart slips out of his grip for a few reasons. First, with the lighter front end, it tips toward him. Since he is new to walking, he cannot compensate for the tipping. The speed of the wheels makes it zoom away from him, which would have sent him down face first if we hadn't been holding onto him already. Even without the handle (which my husband removed, hoping that it would make the cart a bit safer) the cart will tip over and speed away from him. In the short time that he played with it, I cannot count how many times the cart sped away from him. When the handle is on, it would him in the head as he tumbled down. (Again, this is with two of us standing not a foot away.)

After using it with my son for two days, I figured that I must have made a mistake I was sure that this cart must have been intended for an older toddler who has mastered walking and just needs a cart to push around. This is how I came across these reviews. I am shocked that it is intended for "early walkers". Even with direct supervision, this cart has proven extremely dangerous and poorly thought out. Overall, it is very badly engineered. I'm not sure who designed it, but I'd be surprised if anyone tested this with a child who was actually just learning to walk. As a "silver medal" we let our son travel around in the cart part while we pushed him which he loved! Except that he stuck his fingers in the wheel and ended up very upset with what must have been quite a sting.

I gave this high marks for fun, because when my son was pushing it around he absolutely loved it. But neither he nor we, his parents, love the many bumps and stings that he has received in the short time he's had with this cart. Sadly, it has been put away and will not come out again until he has mastered walking and can use it as just a cart. I'm terribly disappointed in this product.

We bought this walker for our 10 month old son and it is completely unsteady. He is quite a mover and wants to walk fast......this push walker completely topples over with the slightest amount of weight on the push bar.....not even usable. I am returning it today for the radio flyer walker!

We got this as a one-year-old Birthday gift for our daughter. She loves it. She is taking a few steps, but still drops down to crawl when traveling more than a foot or two. We haven't had problems with instability at all. Basically, she uses her own muscles to stand with it and walks around until she bumps into a wall. Then she unloads and loads the blocks. Works great. I think it really depends what type of early walker you have, which can be so variable around this age. If your child is able to stand up on their own, without grabbing onto anything, from a squat, but isn't walking yet (as ours is), this product is perfect. As an added plus, it looks nice. It's colorful, but not garish. And wood is always better than plastic in my book.

We purchased this as our son's 1st birthday gift and it was a HUGE hit with him! He'd been pulling up and walking holding our fingers for a few weeks so we thought this would be great for him. We wanted something that was both environmentally friendly and affordable. So, no plastic and no 70.00 walkers. In addition we needed something that would pack easily as we would have to transport it half way across the country. Loved the colors on this and the rubber on the wheels! As soon as we put it together (so easy) he took off running with itliterallysmiling and laughing. Sure the running attempt on hard wood floors also means he also fell, but learning to walk is tricky and there will be bumps and bruises. After a few days of pushing this around the house, he gained the confidence to let go and walk himself! Now its a toy for pushing around his favorite books, toys, tv remotes, etc. :)

My son was just 8 months when I bought this. Just learning to stand up and learned to push himself using this, very quickly. Now my son is 17 months and lifts this thing, slams it on the ground, and even runs into walls with it. I know I make him sound destructive, but children are children. With that being said, this Build Bloc cart can take a beating! My sons likes it so much and pushes it all the time. My husband has even had to drill in new screws just to make it sturdy again after much use. The blocks were an added bonus, which my sons using even more as he grows, to build things. I would recommend this toy to a friend, its cute and good for baby as they grow! Just be prepared to re-secure the screws if you happen to have an active little one!
