Purchased this for my 3 month old. Wanted a good sturdy rattle NOT made in china or painted. He holds it and sucks on it and I don't have to worry about the paint coming off or having lead in int.
Personally speaking, I enjoy the look of this toy. The natural wood in the shape of a cutesy little bird is more pleasant to look at then some plastic, brightly color toy. However, I did not buy this for myself. This was a gift for my daughter who is 5 1/2 months and teething. This toy is a pass for her. Not satisfying much to her other than something to suck on, at which she eventually becomes bored with.
The middle rattle does very little other than slowly move back and forth (if it does at all). If the center rings were smaller than this toy might make a bit more noise.
