This is a perfect first doll. Got it for my 6 month old great niece. Easy for her to hold and play with. Diverse enough to keep her interest.
Updated 12/10/12....So time did tell...this has been one of my baby's favorite things over the last few months...soothes her when we are out and about....at times will instantly stop the tears! So I guess it doesn't matter what song it plays! I am very happy that I purchased this item! Changed star rating to 4!!

This baby doll is very soft and pretty. The light up cheeks suprised me though. I was expecting glowing pink light up cheeks, instead it has bright, quickly flashing cheeks that are a little startling. I think they're very eyecatching for a baby, my 14 week old gets very wide eyed when I turn the doll on. The song and music are very short, maybe five seconds or so? This is my daughter's "baby". She sleeps with her and takes her everywhere. We bought four of them so we could have back-ups available. I've taken the ring off because my little girl carries her around by the little tab on the top. It was easier for her when she was an infant for her to hold it by the tab instead of the arm or body. I had gotten this doll as a gift, unless this is a different one on amazon, mine played "you are my sunshine"My daughter who was 3 month when she got this doll, absolutely loved it, she smiled every time it played the song and saw the cheeks light up.
Its only been 3 months though and I think a wire somewhere came loose, because when you try to play the music, nothing happens, but the cheeks still light up.
I would not get this again, there are many toys that play music, but I refuse to spend money on something that is made so poorly.
