Chicco Smiley The Fish

Chicco Smiley The FishSmiley is cute and colorful. It creates two sounds: rattle and squeaking. It's a little heavy and big (to hold) for my 4 month old. It keeps his attention for a few minutes only. It's a bit thick but when he's older I'm sure it'll be better for teething.

Chicco Toys DJ Guitar

Chicco Toys DJ GuitarLike chicco's other toys, this one is of very good quality too. It is very sturdy and very colorfull. We bought this toy a few days ago and this is really a great toy. It works great and has super cute sounds. It has 20+ prerecorded melodies and is endless fun for little ones. Compared to other guitars out there it has more melodies and functions than any other you can find on the market. Fabulous toy for a great price too.

We bought this little musical "guitar" when my son was 4 months old. He was slightly unsure of it at 4 months, but by 5 months, he really enjoyed trying to hit the buttons or having us activate the music for him. At 15 months we use it to calm him down in moments of toddler melt down. I keep looking for other little electronic guitars for him, but nothing I find seems like it would serve any better than this little toy, I'm glad we purchased it.

Chicco Toys (an Italian company) puts tons of R&D into the musical aspect of their toys (you don't see this from other companies), so I'll have to explain this toy:

1. Musical styles: Chicco says that these styles are: Rock, Pop and Blues. I have to disagree, to me they seem to be: Country-ish Rock, Country-ish Pop; 3. Sort-of Blues. In any case, the styles are still entertaining in their own right, at least they aren't public-domain standard-hear-everywhere -farmer-in-the-dell music. You won't recognize these tunes from anywhere, which is why they don't get repetitive the way other toys do. They don't bother me due to the variety of them, and I don't particularly listen to country (or rock or blues, I listen to Elmo....another story.....). The musical styles are controlled on a dial with these three settings.

2. Play Modes: There are three play modes, controlled on a dial with three settings

2.1 Short tunes: Press a button, guitar plays a short threesecond tune. My son likes this mode.

2.2 Long tunes ("pre-recorded"): Press a button, guitar plays about an 22 second tune. If you press any of the buttons during the tune, the animal sound on that respective button sounds. My son likes this mode as well.

2.3 "Follow me": Random button flashes, baby is expected to press the flashing button to hear music. If you press any other non-flashing button, nothing happens. At 15 months, my son still doesn't seem to be too interested in this one, it's definitely on the more advanced side.

3. Mixer functions: They add add sound and activate the lights on the "fretboard" buttons:

3.1 The drums button lets you hit a snare drum sound, it's ok, you can amuse the baby with this, or it can be used to help the baby learn to press a button, it's oversized.

3.2 The Whammy Bar adds in a whammy bar guitar squeal.

3.3 A blue spinner ball that the baby can spin to either accelerate or decelarate the music (only functional in the Long Mode play mode). The baby figured this one out quite quickly, by 6 months at least. The baby sitters all figure this out too, so it's quite intuitive.

4. Other functionality:

4.1 Strum button (like where you would strum the guitar, it's the yellow button you see in the image like where strings should be), and it plays its own little musical segment. But it interrupts the main ongoing music, which doesn't resume afterwards.

4.2 Animal sounds: When you are in Long music, "Pre-recorded melodies" setting (lower left, second dial over), then this allows you to keep presssing the keys on the fretboard and play the animal sounds while the music plays (similar to the Chicco walker). This doesn't work in "Short Tunes" mode, or in the "Follow-me" game (limited to the key being activated at that time). These animal sounds are the same sounds as on the Chicco DJ Walker, for anyone familiar with that toy, so Dog, Chick, Cat, Pig, and Frog sounds.

4.3 Volume: There is a dial with "Off" (turns toy off),"low" and "high". Low is happily decently low (that's what we use), and "high" still isn't super loud, so all I can say is yay.

4.4 Battery use: Toy is very good on battery use, I've only replaced the batteries once in the last year since we've purchased it.

Note: "Ghost in the machine": I'd recommend turning the guitar off at night, in my experience it can activate on its own, even when not super low on batteries (apparently this is common in children's toys electronics). Not great to go out and detect in the middle of the night.

In summary, we're very happy with this toy, it's lots of fun and the variety of tunes means that they aren't repetitive.

Overall, this is a good buy. I purchased this guitar for my 1 year old nephew so that he would stop trying to play with his uncle's Guitar Hero and it worked.

There's really not much for a child to do with this but listen to the different tunes. If that works for your child it does a great job. If you want your child to learn from it I don't think it does much there.

VTech - Baby's Learning Laptop

VTech - Baby's Learning LaptopAs our 15 months old has taken a keen interest to my laptop, we felt this would b nice alternative. Turns out, not really, they know the difference. Still, this is a fun toy for the little ones.

Essentially this unit makes an assortment of music, sounds and interacts with keyboard input. Two volume levels are present and we find the lower setting to be perfect as it can get a bit loud on the higher setting. There are plenty of voices, sounds, and music to keep things from getting too repetitive. There is also a little mouse that-well-is shaped like a mouse, that can be moved up ,down, left ,and right with a corresponding voice stating the movement. The mouse is attached to the unit and cannot be removed so nothing can be lost or swallowed.

Durability is very good on this item with no small items that can break off or removed for consumption or chocking ( This is of primary concern for us as it should be for all).

One thing to watch out for and as another reviewer stated, is my boy closes the lid on his fingers or hand. Now for some reason after he closes the lid he places all of his 8 month old might into ensuring it is closed. So I would not walk away and leave him long with it alone as who knows how much pressure it takes for him to feel it. So far he has not injured himself and he has not cried or made any other type of commotion -yet. Just something to watch out for. I am sure if it really hurt he would stop but I am a paranoid father.

EDIT: Well, my boy finally did push too hard and hurt himself with his finger inside the lid. No damage to either finger or toy but something to look out for.

Now my boy does tend to get bored easily and this item is no different. In fact now when I open the screen and play with it with him, he just casually reaches over and closes the screen-often. I think my wife taught him that so that I would do the same with my own laptop.

The toy itself is great and though no where near the sophistication of the real thing it certainly did not cost as much or as dangerous either (he pulled the L key off my laptop keyboard).

Battery life so far is very good with the unit being used everyday for 3 weeks and no sign of weakness. This is a relief as some toys eat through batteries very quickly and things get costly over time as the good batteries are not exactly cheap. We tend to go through 10-15 batteries a week in his other items such as rockers, toys, etc..

Oh, how I envy him and his simple laptop; no investments, no news, no work emails, no etc.... just lights, music, and sound.

Our boy really does enjoy the time with this toy and though he seems now to be more fascinated with closing the lid than anything else there are times he enjoys just slamming his fist at the keyboard and looking up at the screen. Now THAT he did get from daddy! ;)

I work from home on a laptop often, and my 6 month old loves to play w/my laptop so I thought this would be a perfect toy for her.

She does love it, and bangs on the "keyboard" just as she bangs on mine the lights and sounds are great love that it has an OFF button so many toys don't!

However, she also loves to bite on anything she can get her hands on including this toy laptop. While trying to use her left hand to pull the cover down into her mouth, the right hand was caught and pinched between the lid and the keyboard. The plastic is shaped in a way which hurts even when I closed the toy on my own thumb to test it.

I recommend parents do not let their child play with this toy unless you can literally sit there and stare at them the entire time. VTech would be wise to put some sort of safety on the lid of this toy.

Buy VTech - Baby's Learning Laptop Now

We bought this for our son when he was 6 months old because he is always wanting to play with our computer. All the other toy laptops I've seen are for older babies/toddlers so we got this one. He is having a lot of fun with it and it's a great toy. He really likes pressing the buttons and hearing the songs, and opening and closing it. There are three modes, and right now he likes the music best. There are two volume levels which is nice. It's very durable. The only issue I have is that he keeps closing the laptop on his fingers. It doesnt really hurt him, but does pinch his fingers a bit. He's learning now to get his fingers out of the way! I think he'll like this toy for a long time.

Read Best Reviews of VTech - Baby's Learning Laptop Here

My son (like most kids) is totally fascinated by adult laptops I got this with the hope that he might leave mine alone, but he isn't easily fooled. However, he has spent time being absorbed with this toy. He likes pushing all those buttons, and the movable mouse is nice too. It has 3 modes the one that plays the music jingles seems to be his favorite. Personally, I don't think it has much learning utility. There are better educational toys out there. But hey, when a kid needs a laptop, he needs a laptop.

One more thing at the time of writing this, the price on Amazon is 39.99, which seems rather steep to me, considering I just bought this for 9.99 at Toys R US. So it might be worth your while to do some comparison shopping before you spring for it at this price.

Want VTech - Baby's Learning Laptop Discount?

My son got this as a gift at around 4 months old. After hours of screaming while we were out of town meeting family for dinner, he instantly stopped when this got turned on, and proceeded to stare at it for the next hour of dinner and start of the drive home until he fell asleep (of course at that point I had to keep turning the music back on, but hey, can't argue with quiet!). He went through a phase where he just kept shutting the lid, which seemed to be great fun for him (although it was several months until he could also OPEN the lid too). He also went through a phase of trying his best to bend the lid all the way backwards, which I think is what finally did it in. Now that he's a year, it still works great MOST of the time. Once in a while it starts sounding like a broken record, it just gets stuck in a loop. My guess is that in the bending it backwards process, he loosened a wire or something. Like I said, most of the time it still works great, it still holds his attention. You've got to figure no matter how durable something is, after 8 months of banging, drooling in, chewing on, and bending backwards, just about anything's going to have problems! Also, battery life it pretty good. Haven't had to change them yet.

Fisher-Price Stack 'n Surprise Blocks Blockity-Pop Tugboat

Fisher-Price Stack 'n Surprise Blocks Blockity-Pop TugboatWe bought this toy for our son's first birthday and would recommend it to others. He enjoys being able to push it around as well as stacking the blocks in various ways. It was a good value.

My 7 month old loves this toy. She like that the blocks move up and down as the boat moves and the blocks are perfect for her to grasp and mouth them. Even my 2 year old likes it!

B. Hellophone - Lime/Pattern

B. Hellophone - Lime/PatternThe toy is great! It came quickly and was brand new as promised. My son has played with this phone for almost a year and loves it! I wish it had more recording time, it only records about 5 seconds, but otherwise no issues.

The box this comes in is really nice! I only have 2 pre-recorded messages on the one we got at Target. My son has learned what to do with my cell phone now that he's had this toy, he also uses other things as phones and holds them up to his hear and talks! He isn't as excited about it as he once was, he's had it for 2 months, but that's how it goes with babies and toys! A good purchase.

Buy B. Hellophone - Lime/Pattern Now

As phone toys go, this seems like a pretty nice one. It doesn't get played with nearly as heavily as many of my daughter's other toys, so I can't quite give it the four or five star rating on level of "fun", and it isn't nearly as educational as many other toys, either. But for what it is, a toy phone, it does the job very well, and I'm pleased with it. I liked the feature for recording a personalized message. I do wish the recording sounded a bit better; it's sampling rate is very poor, so my voice sounds more than a bit distorted when played back. Regardless, my daughter does enjoy playing with this phone off and on and hearing the various sounds that occur when pushing the buttons. I'm glad I purchased it.

Baby Looney Tunes Musical Mobile

Baby Looney Tunes Musical Mobileawesome very colorful mobile I was having finding things to bring together my baby room but with the awesome addition were complete

This product is cute but slightly cheap looking, not sure I should pay $33 for this. Works perfectly and fits on my crib.

Want Baby Looney Tunes Musical Mobile Discount?

We got this mobile along with a Sesame Street one from the same maker; one for the crib and one for the changing table. This Looney tunes one is just too pastel and boring looking in comparison to the other. Also, the plushies aren't the same weight; I was kind of annoyed that I had to put one of the characters in the middle position, because the sun and star have to go opposite each other on one of the arms.

It's not a bad mobile, just boring color wise in comparison to others. My son ignored this almost completely, but loved the brightly colored Sesame Street one.

Fisher-Price Little People Spin n' Fly Helicopter

Fisher-Price Little People Spin n' Fly HelicopterI am a big fan of all the little people toys. They last the abuse my 2 year old put on them. The toys themself are simple with out a lot of bells and noise. Most don't even require batteries. I Love that! Due to the fact these toys are so simple they require your child to use their imagination. I have heard all sorts of stories come out of my little one when he plays with his little people. I would recommend this line of toys to any parent of grandparent.

This was bought for 2yr. Old. She likes it & we just discovered the sound button on tail wing, so cute. We love to play together & she likes it a lot.

I loved that it didn't have a jillion parts to be lost amongst the other jillion toy parts throughout the house. It also has sounds and music but it isn't soooooo loud as to be annoying. Also, the propeller is child-operated. A+ for this one.

Honey Bumble Bee Toddler Costume - Toddler

Honey Bee Kids Costume - Toddler SmallI purchased this for my 2 year old daughter because it was one of the cutest bee costumes I saw. I am very happy with the overall appearance of this costume, however it is amazingly poor quality. The wings are floppy and just dangle behind her. The Velcro that hold the wings on comes apart quite often. The wire that shapes the wings separated and popped through the stocking material in the first 10 minutes of use. And when I say stocking, I mean stocking mesh. I'll be shocked if the wings remain intact past halloween, which is disappointing because when you pay $30 for a costume, you expect it to be good. I was hoping my daughter could use this for dress up in the future, but now I'm skeptical. The black tights are cute, but itchy, and the headband literally has a pipe cleaner will balls on the end for the antennae.

The Deglingos Baby Blankie

The Deglingos Baby Blankie, Pikos The HedeghogThis is a great little "blanket" for our son. He loves to chew on the ears...and likes to feel the different textures.

I love the coloring so if he spits up on it, it doesn't stand out horribly! : )

It has made it through the wash many times with no issues--very durable.

Plus, it is super cute and different! We love it

Bought this little sheep for our baby daughter for Christmas. She was five months old at the time, and even then found it an interesting cuddly. She loves looking at it and holding it and even gnawing on him on occasion. The sheep has different textures and is soft. And in appearance, he is a little bit unique from your usual stuffed toy. They have many other animals in this line, and I would definitely buy another one.

Buy The Deglingos Baby Blankie Now

I love the Deglingos toys! This "blankie" is more like a lovey or minky...just something for a small baby to cuddle with, which is why I bought it. I love the different off-the-wall patterns. I'm thinking of purchasing a pair of the kicks, just for fun, and maybe another one of these loveys to keep around as a spare. I think the price is a tad steep for this particular product, but I guess they're from the UK...maybe. I didn't do too much research on it. All in all, I really do like the "blankie". It's super cute, and I'll probably purchase another one in a different character.

Read Best Reviews of The Deglingos Baby Blankie Here

Very adorable, unique, and softer than you could imagine. Perfect baby gift! Only Issue: The term "blankie" is deceiving, as it is small, and looks more like a deflated stuffed animal, not "blankie" size. Highly recommend this purchase.

I bought this because I needed to come up with something to give my 10 month old son for Christmas and his room had an ocean theme. Also, my daughter has the full-size Deglingos cat and he's pretty dang cute. The product is well-made, colorful, and full of different textures for baby to explore, but my son just wasn't interested. That doesn't mean it's not totally adorable, it's just one of those things that your kid either loves or it doesn't.

Chiming Charlie by Discovery Toys

Chiming Charlie by Discovery ToysThis is the best infant hanging toy I've seen, and my children seem to agree.

First, this is a good "toy" even for infants who aren't really reaching and grabbing yet, but just looking. Each of the octopus's eight legs has a different color and texture. Viewed from below, there's still a lot of interest going on. Also, once your child is coordinated enough to flail her arms, she'll come into contact with all of the different textures. Then you can talk about how she's holding the "pink fleece" leg and "isn't it soft" etc. This toy presents you and your baby with a lot of teachable moments.

The red neck ruffle is satiny and crinkly. The big head has a rattle inside. These features are good for an older baby (if you have it over a play yard, it can be difficult to put a sleeping baby in without it making noise--and on older infant might rattle it by accident and startle herself), since she'll be able to practice cause and effect and learn how to influence her world.

We got the best smiles from my older child as he learned that he could grab the red ruffle and make his favorite crinkling sound. He also seemed to like the yellow head an smiley face. My second child seemed to prefer grabbing the legs, especially the slippery ones.

I figured they'd both be done with the toy after it hung above their play yards when they were very young, then hooked onto the handle of their car seat when they were older infants, but that wasn't the case. Once they were mobile, they each crawled to it on the floor, to remember old times, I guess. My older child was pretty much done with it by the time he was a year old, but when his younger brother was born, it was one of the first toys he brought to him.

This toy will look gigantic next to your newborn. Just remember that they grow fast (babies, not toys) and that it'll soon seem more like the right size. By the time your baby is grabbing, it won't be too big at all.

We used Boomerings to attach the octopus to things--and the rings are good toys in themselves. If your sitting baby has grown out of the octopus, but really liked it, you might want to get the same company's Shaker Weights. They're also brightly-colored and open up lots of teachable moments.

Bottom line: This is the best infant mobile and tactile (young) baby toy we've found.

This toy for the 0-1 year old crowd has it all. It has a simple face, sound, textures, colors, and is easy to grasp for little hands.

Mary Meyer Ella Bella 10" Elephant Plush Bank

Mary Meyer Ella Bella 10' Elephant Plush BankAfter reading reviews of the 6" pig mary meyer bank and hearing how small it was i decided to go with the cute 10" elephant one to make sure it was a good size for a toddler girl. The only thing that makes it 10" is the trunk and tail of the elephant! the actually bank size is no larger and can fit in the palm of your hand. It is much too small to fit anything in really. it probably the size of a very small coffee cup inside and i was hoping it was larger and could hold more. Also the color looks very bright but it's not. The pink is actually a very soft baby pink as well as the ear patterns. Both the blue and yellow are very dull so i was really disappointed that it was as bright and cute as the pic.

I ordered this for my 3yr old daughter, she picked it out, while it is very cute, it's just smaller than I thought it would be. But it's still perfect for a 3yr old!! !

Pop-Up-Turtle By Play Right

Pop-Up-Turtle By Play RightThis product has NO VOLUME CONTROL and is incredibly loud... so much so that my son seems to be afraid of doing anything that might cause it to launch into another horrible song. The pop up contains nothing... it's just an empty shell, so that is disappointing. There are two little lights that flash at the top, but it doesn't correspond with the action of the tabs flipping up. After ~2 minutes of playing with this, the number 3 won't open anymore unless I pry it up. I should have known the price was too good to be true. I hate it and my son doesn't seem to care too much for it. I would recommend finding something else.

Step2 Push Around Buggy (Pink)

Step2 Push Around BuggyThis toy is a lifesaver for me. We got it for our 10 month old as she learned to crawl and believe it or not, it helped her to walk! She not only crawls up to it every morning but can now hoist herself up and into the sturdy seat with very little help! She is so attached to it I think it has become her very favorite toy. Construction is excellent on this; the chubby wheels are solid and roll easily in the street or around the house, even on thick carpeting. The long handle makes it a cinch for mom and dad to push and the little storage compartment in front is perfect for a little bottle, your keys if you're just taking a quick stroll, or even a quick diaper change. The seat is just the right width to keep tiny tushies secure, and the adjustable seatbelt fits pefectly. If your child isn't able to completely support themselves sitting upright, then they're not ready for this buggy just yet, but once they can sit alone, the seatbelt and comfy foot rest is perfect. Colors are very appealing too, and the removable handle makes storage convenient. I would recommend this to any parent who loves to spend time outdoors without a stroller. And if you have room in the house, it's fun indoors too.

I bought this for my daughter for her first birthday and gave it to her early. She absolutely loves it, she gets a kick out of pulling up the hood and putting in toys and taking them out. I push her all around the house and make noises and she just laughs. I would recommend this toy to anyone considering buying it. The most important feature is the seatbelt, it makes me feel a lot better knowing she can't fall out.

Our daughter is more than 2-yrs-old and she has had this toy since she was 9-month-old and still loves it. We used it so much the 1st year we had it that two of the tires cracked. When used outside, this ride-on toy is fairly loud but once the tires cracked, it became even louder. So I e-mailed the Step 2 company asking how I could go about purchasing new tires and without even being told, I received a package in the mail from Step 2 (via UPS) and enclosed were 2 brand new tires! Absolutely free. They didn't even ask me to pay for shipping or proof of purchase or anything! They were easy to replace and we have puts lots more miles on those new tires. We still love this toy as much as our daughter.

Wonderworld Sprinter Caterpillar Wooden Pull-Along Toy

Wonderworld Sprinter Caterpillar Wooden Pull-Along ToyWe bought this for our granddaughter's first birthday. She was delighted before the paper was completely off the toy, squealed with happiness and carried it around. When she realized she could also pull or push it, (she does walk already) she spent even more time playing with it. In fact, it became a travel toy as well as an at-home play thing for awhile. The colors and the movement are fun for her and it is still a big hit.

Hazelwood/Baltic Amber (Honey, Lemon, or Green) Teething Necklace - Teething Pain, Eczema, Asthma,

Hazelwood/baltic Amber Teething Necklace - Teething Pain, Eczema, Asthma, HeadacheWonderful seller and item. This has helped my son so much with teething and some red patches on his face.

Thank you so much for offering such a great item and for the quick shipping and wonderful customer service.

We love this necklace and just placed an order for a second necklace, as a backup!

I just received this necklace for my son and I love it. (Only reason I'm giving it 4/5 stars is because it's shorter than our previous baltic amber necklace and I would have liked it a bit longer). Seller shipped quickly and the necklace looks great on him. Sturdy design, nice clasp that I know he won't be able to take off himself. He's been wearing baltic amber since he was 6 months old and I'm confident it has minimized his teething discomfort. Wanted to try out this necklace to see how he reacts to the hazelwood as well and see if it helps with his eczema.
