Pop Up Farm Yard Friends

Pop Up Farm Yard FriendsMy 18mo son likes this toy, but the knobs are really hard to twist and push, so he has only figured out how to use the lever on the sheep. The rest will come with time, I'm sure.

I bought this item for my daughter for her birthday because it is her favorite toy at Daycare. The quality of the product is not the best.

I purchased for my 17 month old even though it specifies for 18 month old. He is not yet able to move all knobs due to hand finger strength required. Other than that, he likes the toy very much.

Carter's Baby Lights & Music Crib/Stroller Plush Monkey - Baby girlI got this for my granddaughter, and we put it on her stroller. She is just now seeing it, and reaching for it. She is just over 3 mos. old. It's cute!

Bought it for my granddaughter. She just stares and smiles at it when you make it sing. Love how the cheeks light up. Definitely would recommend.

Haba Pushing Vehicle Terry Train

Haba Pushing Vehicle Terry TrainFirst of all let me say, I only kept this item because I got it on sale for $25, it is not worth $50! We have alot of Haba toys & this is was a disappointment. All of the wheels don't even turn on the first car with the driver the back wheels are put on so that the car will bounce when driving, well, it doesn't. Also, the squeeker button on the front only squeeks if you push it just right, basically if the parent does it. It's a cute train just not worth the price & the craftsmanship is shoddy.

but most of haba stuff is adorable. well made. durable non chip paint. they are kind of heavy but that isn't really a bad thing. it was just hard for our son to pick them all up at once for awhile. they roll reallllly well on carpet.

Topeto Car

Topeto CarMy son loved his little car and now has passed it on to his little brother who loves it as well. Fun car!

We bought this as my daughter was going through a stage where she loved to push little cars. This little guy never caught on in that way, because my daughter had begun waking by the time we gave him to her, but he's been a great toy for when we're out and about.

He is small (about the size of an adult palm), but that turns out to be just right for a toddler's small hands.

He's safe to chew on, and very well constructed. I regularly check and he's just as solid as day one. And he's lots of fun to squeak! Besides, he's just so darn cute. His irresistably simple charm has made him a winner in our house.

This car is itty bitty! I should have checked the dimensions, but for the price listed, I just assumed that it was a good size toy.

WeeRide Kangaroo Child Bike Seat

WeeRide Kangaroo Child Bike SeatI wanted to get something for my ten month old so I could ride my bike while my three year old rides his. We have a trailer but I wanted to try a seat because I thought it would be easier than dragging the trailer outespecially just for riding slowly around the neighborhood with a three year old!

The front kind seemed like a good idea. The whole reason I bought a trailer in the first place was because I was afraid of my balance being thrown off with a bike seat. This front mounted seat is super for balance! I felt very comfortable with my daughter up front and she loved it! We just went for a test run around the block after installing it.

I was able to install in less than 20 mins with a 10 month old crawling around. So I'd say it was pretty easy. It's also very easy to remove the seat when you don't want it on your bike.

I was a little afraid of how my knees would hit the seat but I figured for the price I would just order it and give it a try and if it didn't work out I'd return it.

It's much better than I thought it would be. My knees don't really hit but I have to pedal in a way that I'm aware that the seats there. Not really a big deal, just something to get use to.

The seat does seem a little wobbly, not terribly so though, so not a huge deal. I may be able to adjust it to keep it from doing this. The seat was so easy to install I actually haven't read the manual yet...

Over all for the price you can't beat it. What a cool thing.

I just want to add that I recently went to our local hospital where they do helmet fittings to get a new helmet for my three year old and they wouldn't sell me one for my daughter until she's a year. The AAP doesn't recommend children ride in trailers or bike seats until a year. Trailers are also recommended over bike seats because the majority of accidents happen in bike seats. Although I would imagine that would be the back mounted type. It would be interesting to see a study about front mounted seats as they become more available.

Get this seat! Just be safe!

I have been looking for a way to take my 2 1/2 year old riding with me. The salesperson at my local bike store refused to sell me a back mounted infant seat because they are so dangerous. I don't want a trailer which are safe, but I enjoy riding the many fire trails by our house.

So this was a great fit.

PROS

1) easy to attachI also switched screws and bolt from the front/back attachment as the seatpost of my TREK needed the bolts from the front attachment.

2) comfortable ridemy daughter is very comfortable and the center of gravity is outstanding... I don't feel unsafe on the bike

3) Easy to removethere is a screw that once you unscrew it you can take the chair off and you can ride normally.

CONS-

1) The seat belt system stinks It is really bad and not very safe.

2) Going up hill is toughdefinitely be in shape for those uphills, more then 2x as tough...but it is a great workout

3) You can't use clipped pedalsbecause you have to splay your legs a little to pedal, clipped pedals are not feasable

Again, My daughter is comfortable (she's 35 inches tall) but in about 3-6 months she will be too tall for this chair... but for now we are having a blast!

Buy WeeRide Kangaroo Child Bike Seat Now

The seat is wonderful-it just was not made to be used with a petite rider I guess. I am 5' tall, and when the seat's foot rests are in their fully-extended position, they interfere with my steering mechanism-making it very dangerous for me to make turns. The seat itself is right in my gut. I can lean on it to push it forward, so it isn't too awful, but the worst part is that in order to pedal, I have to extend my legs outwards. It is a terrible strain on my knees and makes this a very uncomfotable-and sometimes overly painful experience.

Read Best Reviews of WeeRide Kangaroo Child Bike Seat Here

I had been trying to put together a combination of a good comfort bike and a child seat for over a week and found a great success with this one.

There are some workarounds with which I got them working together. Needless to say, after putting together this, my 2yr 3 month 39" tall kid enjoyed the ride and never wanted to get back home :)

Pros:

1. Significantly better than the Bell child seat (back mounted).

2. Looks and feels much better. Satisfied.

3. My son is 39" tall and 2yr 3 months and weighs around 27lbs. I was hesitant to buy this seat given his tall height for his age. He was able to sit comfortably and still has lot of room to grow!

4. Assembly time: 20-30 min (with workarounds: Read below)

5. The seat is detachable from the child seat frame. That way, you can remove the seat if you wish to go biking on your own.

Cons:

1. The belts are sized for fitting infants when I removed the seat out-of-the-box. You may have to try multiple combinations to fit it for your child. It took me a while and was frustrating.

2. The bottom of the horizontal bar has bolts protruding out. If you rest the bar on the horizontal bar of the frame of the bike, make sure you add some padding (like a piece of soft cloth). Otherwise, the bolts could bite into the paint of the bike frame.

3. The Saddle height adjustment is not possible after adding this child seat. Make sure your bike is adjusted for your height first.

Workarounds and Howto (and comparison with Bell child seat)

I had a terrible experience with the Bell Child seat (rear mounted). I had to return this one since it just wasn't engineered to latch on to the frame near the rear wheel. Poor incompatible design. After force-fitting the Bell child seat, there was hardly 4" space between the saddle and the back of the child seat leaving only around 4" space for my kid. Absolutely a waste!

WeeRide child seat was much easier to assemble, if you can play around with the bike you have.

1. Buy a bike that you think can take such a child seat. Example, I bought a Schwinn 26" Mens Comfort bike from costco for $199 and assembled the seat on it.

2. In my bike, there wasn't enough space to bolt the front of the bar since the vertical space between the moving elements of the handle and the frame was too small. I had to let go of the front bolts. Since the rear ones and the horizontal bar center bolts were secured very tight, I felt comfortable letting go of the front ones.

3. Add a soft cloth padding between the horizontal bar of the child seat and horizontal frame of your bike.

I am really happy with this seat.

Want WeeRide Kangaroo Child Bike Seat Discount?

I was very disappointed to find that this seat does not fit on either my wife's or my bicycle. Both are fairly standard off-the-bike-store-rack models. The company's misleading advertising states it fits virtually any bike. What it should say is that you must have at least 3/4"-1" of head tube extending above the top tube so that the front mounting clamp will fit without interfering with the headset bearings (steering mechanism.) My trek mountain bike has essentially no such space. My wife's Giant city/trail bike had a little more space due to the sloping "ladies" top tube, but the clamp still did not fit. Had I known this, I would not have wasted the shipping fees, and gotten a seat that fits.

Jolala Inflatable Little Duck Swimming Seat Float Boats with Leg Holes

Jolala Inflatable Little Duck Swimming Seat Float Boats with Leg HolesGood product. My Granddaughter loves it. The head squeaks with pressure. Nothing extraordinary with this inflatable pool toy, however, the Grandbaby loves to use it in the bath tub and it fits perfectly in a standard sized tub. The leg holes are a little rough on her 7 month old baby skin, but that is the case with all pool toys of this type. Nothing a wash cloth placed over the leg holes doesn't fix.

Ring-a-thing

Ring-a-thingMy two year old daughter is in love with the many games my four year old has and plays with. Problem is, many of them have small pieces, and my two year old isn't past the mouthing stage, so we either have to really carefully supervise, or put them away. The latter greatly offends her sensibilities.

I was hesitant to purchase this game because it looked... well boring. But I found it intriguing all the same the idea of a game that is made for toddlers. Specifically, a game that is simple in its rules, and has large enough pieces to not pose a risk. I took a chance, having read so many glowing reviews. In hindsight, I might have just stuck with my intuition.

The pieces to this game are quite nice. They all have that fantastic silky-smooth Haba finish, are brightly-colored, and they're much larger than most of the teeny tiny wooden Haba toys we own. The rings measure, from smallest to largest: 1.8", 2.25", 2.5" diameter. The people are 2.7" tall and .8" diameter, and the dice is a 1.25" cube much larger than a standard die.

The downside is that the gameplay options (there are 3) included in the instructions are boring, boring, boring. Not for me, mind you; I might well have expected that, but for my two-year old. We've tried all three at various times and only end up with her walking away, baffled at how so much die-rolling can result in so little action.

Allow me to pare them down to their essentials for the purposes of demonstration.

Game 1: Place all people and rings in the center of the table. Each player rolls the die and places a corresponding ring on the people. If all rings of that color are used up, roll again. Game is over when all the rings have been distributed. The game suggests you can then offer a reward of dancing in a circle, but my toddler recommends, instead, running away and refusing to have any more of this nonsense.

Game 2: Select a person. Roll the die to try to get the same color as the person you have chosen. Didn't get the right color? Pity! You cannot take a ring! (Yes, I'm quoting there). Pity, indeed says my toddler. After 5 rounds where neither of us rolled our correct color, she said, "Pity! This game is over, mom!" (I'm paraphrasing there.)

Game 3: Choose a person, stack five rings of various colors on the person. Each player rolls the dice until the color on the die matches the top ring, remove the ring, and so on. Of course, we didn't even get to die-rolling on this one, because the idea of rings of various colors stacked on a person with a different color hat was (hello!) one of those things that offends a rigid, rule-driven, tantrum-prone toddler's sensibilities. "No! No! No!" she howled, and quickly removed and reassembled the rings in their correct size and color order with the correct people.

Now, I'm not necessarily precluding the idea that a game could, with a little thought, be conjured, effectively using these cool game pieces in a way which might allow a faster-paced, fun game. After a failed attempt on each of the prescribed games, I began brainstorming, and have come up with a few alternative methods where participation would be virtually guaranteed on each roll of the die, foregoing the whole, "Pity! All you got to do this turn was roll the die!" structure that annoyingly pervades all playing options which came with the game.

However, I feel it's only fair to base the rating of the game on the merit of what it provides pre-improvisation, and not on its possible potential beyond what presented in the immediate sense. And so, while the individual pieces of the game have provided some mild amusement in a roleplay/imagination form, I feel the game playing end is sorely lacking, and not well thought out for the age group for which its intended. Also, it's really quite expensive and I say that having gotten it at 20% off. I understand the whole German wooden safe toy correlation, but I was hoping more for a game, and less for a few pricey, aesthetically pleasing wooden pieces.

A better game, in my opinion, is Haba's Zitternix, which my two year old is surprising capable of joining in on and enjoying, and which allows for a guaranteed corresponding action for each roll of the die, keeping things a bit more exciting. I think continual active participation in a game is key for maintaining interest at this age.

HABA toys tend to be on the smaller side, but I was actually pleasantly surprised when this toy arrived. The pieces are large and chunky, making it so the men don't easily topple over as my toddler plays the game. This provides a just-right challenge for my 23-month-old. From playing this game, he readily understands the concepts of turn-taking, following the direction of the dice, and size/color differences. This has been a valuable addition to our toy collection, and my son always asks to play again and again.

Sassy Ladybug Teethers Developmental Toy, 2 Pack, Colors May Vary

Sassy Ladybug Teethers Developmental Toy, 2 Pack, Colors May VaryMy daughter started teething at four months, and a lot of other teethers were too thick for her to easily chew on. These are small enough that she can fit them into her mouth, and, as other reviewers have pointed out, they can be refrigerated/frozen for added relief on those incoming teeth.

At first I let my daughter play with these as toys. Once she started getting teeth I kept them in the freezer. She likes them and lots of our guests have commented on how cute they are. Easy to wash and reuse. Easy for baby to hold. Well made.

Intex 120V AC Quickfill Pump

Intex 110 - 120 Volt AC Quick-fill Electric PumpHad no idea how much we needed an air pump like this till we actually had one to use! We have used this for the kids jump-o-lene 71.5" x 40" Jump o Lene Jump n Gymfor rafts and other pool toys, for inflatable mattresses when company visits. Never had one before, and we purchased it specifically for the Jump n Gym, but once we had it, we were shocked at how many times it came in handy!

What's great about it is that it has several different sized nozzles, so you can use it for so many things! Oh, and the fact that you can also use it to deflate stuff really makes life a lot easier! It's super-fast, and I can't

believe we went so long without it. Now that I've gotten used to just grabbing the pump when we

need something inflated or deflated, I can't imagine not having one.

We highly recommend this air pump. It has been reliable, durable, and very very convenient. By the way, it's not heavy and doesn't take up much space, so you can easily take it with you if you need to. Super-duper recommend it! ;)

EDIT: This pump is so user-friendly that our 5 year old can use it, under adult supervision for safety, of course! It is so handy to have around.

UPDATE, April 8, 2012. We still use this pump, it works great, & we've had no problems with it at all. I just read the comments that said this review must've been written by Intex. I'm just a mom in the Midwest. Not a company. LOL. And I'm kinda embarrassed.....does this mean I did too good of a job on the review, or I like the pump too much, or what? I get pretty excited about products that I like, & I'm passionate about sharing my experiences, good and bad, with my family, friends, and other people who might make the same purchase. I can understand why the people who wrote the comments thought I worked for the company, but I can assure you....I'm just a plain ole mommy. Thanks. And I hope my reviews are helpful to you.

We bought this pump to replace the one that came with our air mattress. It works sooo much better than the original that came with the mattress. I would definitely recommend this air pump.

Buy Intex 120V AC Quickfill Pump Now

Pros: Simple pump plugs into a wall socket for immediate operation, and inflates a double mattress in two minutes flat. Does not require charging before use. Also can be used to deflate quickly. Small, easy to store. Good solution for occasional use at a very good price. Intuitive to use, which is good because tiny instructions require a magnifying glass.

Cons: Relies on access to nearby electrical outlet, so not ideal for outdoor camping. Two things might be negatives, but didn't matter at all to us: 1) the nozzle parts don't fit together very well so you have to hold them together with one hand during operation; 2) it's a little noisy. The pump works so fast, these inconveniences were just momentary, and well worth the extra value we got from the low price.

Amazon's delivery was flawless.

This Quick-fill Electric Pump works great to fill or deflate just about any air mattress or air-filled item. The adapters enable filling all sizes of valves. We priced the Coleman equivalent at Wal-Mart and it was $5.00 higher. With Amazon's Super-Saver Free shipping we saved that much on the pump plus sales tax. We are very satisfied.

Want Intex 120V AC Quickfill Pump Discount?

The pump works as advertised although it is not really that fast. However the picture on the webpage is misleading as it does not come with extension tubing and the two small nozzles. I purchased this product over a similar product because I thought I was getting these extra features. I guess I should have read the written description better which does not mention the extension tubing and two extra nozzles. This product comes with the air pump and a single 3-in-1 nozzle piece.

Update: The picture has now been updated to accurately reflect what is included.

Tiny Love Frog Kick Mirror

Tiny Love Frog Kick MirrorI read such wonderful reviews of this mirror, that I couldn't wait to get it. My baby is only 2 1/2 months old right now, and I find this mirror an irritation. It takes 2 people to get the mirror placed so that the driver can see baby's face (one person in the back seat and the other in the driver seat). The smiley face on the frog takes up valuable space. When trying to get baby's face positioned in mirror, the smiley face frequently cuts straight through baby's face, making her facial expression impossible to see. Hubby and I worked for 20 minutes to adjust this mirror so that Baby's face was visible from the driver's seat. Once the baby's face is visible and the frog's smiley face is around the area of baby's neck, the picture is warped so badly that I feel like I'm watching the movie Alien. I CAN see if baby's head is in the proper position and see if baby is smiling or frowning, making this semi-functional when mirror is placed right. The biggest problem is that when someone sits in the back seat next to baby, they may touch the hand or foot of the frog as they are buckling themselves in. If they do, then it moves the mirror and the quest to get the mirror placed correctly starts all over again. I give this 2 stars because I expect as baby grows, her legs will be long enough to reach frog's belly, and she may find the toy interesting to play with. At that point, I seriously hope I don't need to see her in the mirror anymore.

If you, like i, think there are enough flashing lights and beeping noises in the world already, and thus avoid battery-operated baby toys, this is a wonderful find. No batteries at all. Baby kicks the frog feet, and the little plastic fishies and turtles in the frog's belly slosh around. Simple cause-and-effect. Car rides lately have a lot less screaming and a lot more giggling.

I'm depriving this toy of a star because, as several other reviewer note, the mirror isn't so great. It's not easy to adjust. By dumb luck, ours it positioned so the front seat passenger can look over their shoulder and see the baby. The driver can sit up very straight and lean forward and kinda see the baby's face in a corner of the rear-view mirror, but at that point they wouldn't be able to see the road.

That said, if what you really want is a baby car mirror, just buy a baby car mirror. The Frog Kick Mirror is also a toy, and no matter how well you've adjusted the mirror, the whole point is for the baby to kick it. The mirror won't stay perfectly oriented for long.

Also, your baby has to be big enough to be able to kick the toy for it to be terribly interesting, so it's not really worth purchasing this until your kid's feet are within an inch or so of the seatback.

Buy Tiny Love Frog Kick Mirror Now

My son cried everytime we got in the car for over 6 months. This was the first thing to get his attention after tons of methods were tried to stop the misery.

Babies too small to hit the bottom "feet" to make the fish move will still like how things jiggle to the car's movements and looking in the mirror.

I bought this hoping I could get the best of both worlds: a great toy for my son to look at and a mirror that would let me see him when I am driving. Well, the first part was right, it's a cute frog. Problem is the mirror is flimsy and really not of good quality. It's distorted and really cheaply made. Buy the Eddie Bauer mirror, it's a better buy.

I bought this for my son to have something to look at for a long car trip. The item pictured on the website and on the box itself is NOT the one that is actually *inside* the box. It looks similar, but the quality is much worse and cheap-looking. The mirror that makes up the "face" of the frog is a total piece of crap I couldn't even see my own face within 10 inches of it, much less my son's on the other side of car. It's a great idea, I just really wish it was the actual item pictured, and not the bad quality of the actual item.

Camden Rose Hardwood Circle Stackers Toddler Toy

Camden Rose Hardwood Circle Stackers Toddler ToyAnything made with care and with beautiful wood like this is great for babies and children. I absolutely love this product, and I love this company. I would, though, take care to hold the baby up when playing with this toy if the baby is still wobbly. my 1 1/2 loves this stoller. i like it cause it has the weel that turns for her . the other stroller i looked at dont have the turning wheel. so with other strolls my little one would have to lift it up to turn it. this took my maybe 5 min to put it together if that. my little one and her friend love to play with it and roll it all over our living room. it is a very light stroller so ur child can knock it over easly but my little one loves it. its one of the toys she plays with every day. it also has a doll carrier which is great and space under the stroller to store things. this is a great buy.

Turtle Xylophone

Turtle XylophoneThis is a quality constructed, durable xylophone for babies and toddlers with pentatonic scale. The bars resonated with perfect pitch, something hard to find in a toy xylophone for kids at this kind of price range. The mallet is designed not to be a choke hazard and it was manufactured to European toy standards.

I was looking for instruments to introduce my infant son to early childhood music without spending a ton on Suzuki or Orff instruments quite yet. I purchased this and the Hohner Kids Toddler Music Band and am very happy with both of the purchases.

I looked all over the place to try to find a well tuned xylophone for my baby. I am a musician, and it hurts my ears to hear the poorly tuned ones that I tried in stores. This one is very well tuned, and since it is pentatonic it always sounds good.

The lowest note is in the center, and then the notes get higher from there, alternating left and right of center. The plastic construction of the turtle feels slightly flimsy, and it may break in the future, but if it does I will re-mount the quality metal bars onto some other frame. The mallet stores underneath the turtle with two clips. I expect the mallet to get bent at some point, after which it probably won't store as easily.

At five months Baby is too young to play with it himself but he loves listening to it though if it is played too loudly or too close to him he will flinch, so be considerate of your baby's sensitive ears.

If you want a fun and simple musical instrument for your little one and you want one that SOUNDS GOOD, give this one a try.
