Vtech Electronics V.Smile Baby Infant Developmen

Vtech Electronics V.Smile Baby Infant DevelopmenI bought this toy for my 1yr old grandsons birthday, he loves it I also purchased 4 cartridges it was easy for him to play with and his mom loves this toy too. my grandson gets to push buttons and watch the t.v. to see what happens next. very educational with baby sign language, music and loads of fun the age group is 9 months to 36 months. so this toy will grow with him. Dianne of Boston

A: I would never recommend a video game for a baby because of neurological development and the need for 3 dimensional stimulation, but I have an older special needs son who is obsessed with the idea of video games. His intellectual capacity is around that of an 18 month old. I got him this hoping it would be easy enough for him to use, but there was too much going on in every game, he couldn't tell what the cause and effect was because too much was going on. The picture is awful, and the reaction time is slow. After awhile something stopped working... meh, it was a poor choice.

I bought this for my grandson and right after opening it we had to take it out of the box and investigate all the buttons and the sounds. But to tell you the truth I think the adults had more fun trying to figure out what all it would do. They haven't hooked it up to the tv yet but my daughter says that my grandson and older granddaughter love it.

Great buy for the value and would recommend it to everyone.

I purchased this system after purchasing the Smartridge of Barney. I didn't realize it need another system to make it work. Once I got the two together , they worked great. My granddaughter is very happy with it. It has alot of educational applications. I think she will play with it for a long time.

Girls Bad Spirit Child Costume

Bad Spirit Child Size MediumNothing like in the picture. The skirt has no shape. The white parts are plastic and they stick together. My daughter didn't like it and didn't use it.

my daughter wanted something different for halloween so when we saw this costume it was perfect for her. the fit is JUST right so the sizing gives no room for extra inches.

Buy Girls Bad Spirit Child Costume Now

Great costume for the price and my 10-year old daughter was thrilled! FYI though, the "socks" aren't socks, they are plastic covers not a problem to put regular socks underneath, but wasn't what I expected regardless. Oh, and it only comes with 1 glove. I suppose I thought the other was hidden under the pom-pom. Again, no big deal....we love the costume and know it will be a huge success on Halloween!

very cute costume. really hated to spend this much for a halloween costume, but my daughter REALLY wanted it. when it arrived very quickly i was happy! but then when i opened it i discoverd it only had one pom-pom. making it just a single pom i guess. and only one striped arm band. it never stated there was two of either, i just assumed there would be. but it was still cute. the white part is made of a shiny pleather type material. it was wrinkly and i didnt know how to remove them cuz i didnt figure you could iron that? ... which irritated the 9 yr old :( helped make that bad attitude for the "cheerless leader" that much more authentic imo!

North American Bear Baby Cozy, Velveteen Circus Horse

North American Bear Baby Cozy, Velveteen Circus HorseSmall (as advertised and expected) but the size seems perfect for newborns and other young children. Super soft, super cute, and the couple I got it for (as part of a baby shower present) loved it.

Seems like a good size for an attachment animal for babies and young children because only the head is stuffed, the body is flat, so it packs very small but is big enough to get good handfuls of. Also, as I said, very very soft.

Probably not big enough to be an only gift, but as part of a multi-gift gift it was fantastic. Would def. buy another animal from this company as a baby shower gift in the future.

Potty Elmo

Potty ElmoAfter some initial trouble getting it out of "store mode" and into "normal play mode" (we had to reinsert the plastic tab and pull it out again a couple of times), we have really had GREAT success with this toy! I have 27 month old twin girls. The first one trained herself at 23 months, and we have been working with the other one on and off since then. She is a HUGE Elmo fan, so when I saw this toy, I HAD to get it! We have had it a few days now, and I am happy to say that teaching Elmo to use the potty has taught my daughter to use the potty! I used this toy, along with a potty training book, and new Elmo Panties as a reward, and it really worked!

The only thing that is a bit tricky for my daughter is when Elmo asks for a drink, you have to trigger a button type thing in his mouth with the cup, and a lot of the time she missed it and I had to help her. But, that was minor. He is SO CUTE and so much fun!

My daughter is an Elmo fanatic and when we experienced resistance with potty training we thought "Potty Elmo" would do the trick. Unfortunately this doll was of little to no help in getting our daughter more interested in the potty, but I can certainly see why it would work with some children. This is how Elmo educates your child on using the potty: first he asks your child to give him a drink (you hear little gulping sounds as Elmo "drinks" from his cup), then he asks to be put on the potty. If your child waits, he asks a little more frantically ("Oh, oh, oh...Elmo has to go to the potty") If your child gets Elmo on the potty on time, he sings a cute little song about how he is learning to use the potty. If he doesn't make it in time, a little sound effect ensues and Elmo may declare "Whoops...oh well, accidents happen. Sorry". What's nice is Elmo doesn't always do the same thing. Sometimes, for example, he'll sit on the potty but he won't need to go. It makes it a little more realistic on what a child can expect during potty training. My daughter really enjoyed playing with Elmo and I do think it helped her understand the idea of potty training better, but she still remained obstinate about using the toilet. I do think every child is different, however, and if yours is showing a little interest in the potty, then Elmo just might do the trick in helping him or her along. And even if it doesn't work, you still get a cute doll out of it. My daughter is 5 and has been potty trained for a long time, but she still enjoys playing with her "Potty Elmo" from time to time. So in the end, all was not lost.

Best of luck!

really helped my daughter want to learn how to go potty...with a 2 year old, anything elmo does they want to or will do...what a great way to emphasize potty training!

For some reason I thought you could actually fill Elmo's sippy cup with water and he would 'pee' it out. This Elmo prentends only. He will ask for a drink when you press his hand, make drinking sounds, ask for more juice, and then tell you he has to potty. When you sit him on the potty he hums until his business is finished and a toilet flushing sounds. His underwear can be pulled up and down but do not come off entirely. My almost 2 year old loves him but still wil not sit on her potty. She knows when she has to go and will pull her diaper down when she does and even wipe herself with a baby wipe but forget sitting on the potty or the toilet. I don't know what scares her but seeing Elmo on his potty doesn't seem to help. She does like him and she'll play with him often but I still need to find some way to get her to sit on the potty.

It took me a full year to potty train my daughter. She just would not go and sit on the potty. I tried a potty book, which had lots of rave reviews from other parents. My daughter loved when I read it to her, but nothing. A friend with 2 children recommended getting a potty doll. I found the Potty Elmo while doing a toy search on Amazon. I bought it since my daughter loves Elmo. I brought it home, and that night we practiced teaching Elmo to potty. Within one day my daughter was using the potty. No joke. It was worth the money.

BRIO Stacking Clown

BRIO Stacking ClownMy son got this for his first birthday, and at first it was challenging for him to fit the pieces over the central peg. The holes are a good bit smaller than a standard toddler stacking toy and require better control. After a few days and with a little help he soon caught on. The clown's hat which crowns the piece was fascinating to him as it keeps the pieces from coming off or being put on. He loved putting the pieces on, putting the hat on and then *shaking* the pieces off. As he's gotten older, he's become much more adept at putting the pieces together in the "correct" order, although he still thinks its a lot of fun to put together in different configurations. After three plus years we've lost the little collar, but all the pieces are still in great shape in spite of drool and lots of imaginative play. (Stringing the pieces on shoelaces as beads for instance.)

My son, who is now 4, wasn't into this kind of toys and I thought it was just a waste of money, but his 18 months old brother was absolutly delighted when he found it in the closet. It's one of his favorite toys now. This wooden stacker is made in Sweden in the same way it used to be made a hundred years ago and if nothing else it will teach your child to appreciate real, quality things in life.

My 10 month old son loves this toy. At first, I figured he was too young for it, but he enjoys trying to get the pieces on and taking them off. He also likes to hold on to the circles by the center holes and clap them together. The pieces even hold up to his teething --the paint stays on, he cannot bite through the wood, etc.

My son received this as a gift when he was around 17 months old. He quickly became interested and would stack the clown one piece at a time. The great thing is that it doesn't matter how you put it together, all of the pieces fit! So he is able to create some interesting shapes! As he gets older, the toy continues to grab his attention and is understanding more of the shape of the clown. I noticed one little chip of paint, but otherwise I highly recommend this fun, colorful, and educational toy!

I received this toy second hand in almost perfect condition, and it's probably close to 25 years old! This speaks volumes about the craftsmanship and durability of Brio toys. My kids love this stacker. It's a lot of fun for young children because it's flexible and looks like a silly wiggly clown. The pieces are smaller than a lot of the other stackers which is great for developing fine motor skills. This is a classic toybuy it for your children and your children's children.

Wonderworld Elephant Pounding Ball

Wonderworld Elephant Pounding BallI purchased this for my 19 month old. You really need to hit the balls hard to get them in, and then you physically have to swing open the trunk to release them. From the pictures, I thought when the balls dropped in, they would roll down and swing open the trunk showing "cause and effect". I think by the time she can hit them hard enough to get them to drop, this toy will not hold her attention, if the balls rolled out, it might. Good construction, cute. Wish I loved it

Miracles and Milestones - Crinkle and Clack Butterfly

Miracles and Milestones - Crinkle and Clack ButterflyMy son has loved this toy since he was 4 mos old (he's currently 6 mos old). All his little friends instantly gravitate toward it when I pull it out at play time, too! The crinkly wings always get his attention, and it's easy for him to grab anywhere.

Our 6-month-old loves this toy! Bright colors, crinkle sounds, and easy-to-grasp features make this a great choice for a younger infant. Our son loves this entire line of toys, but the butterfly is one of his favorites.

Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Rumble & Learn Driver

Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Rumble & Learn DriverI bought this for my 3 year old child with Special Needs. He loves music and cars. It's really difficult to move all the pieces on such a compact space. Even I have difficult pulling and pushing the 'light' knob. The music is great but mostly he just pushes the horn and that gets really old.

This is a cute toy, but none of my kids were into it. I have 1 year old boy/girl twins and neither of them pay much attnetion to it. It's collecting dust in the toy bin!

This is my 7 month old's favorite toy and has been for the past month and a half. At first it was a bit awkward for him to play with until we figured out that it was the perfect size to put on his highchair tray. Now while I'm getting his meals ready he sits in his chair and waits patiently, honking the horn and making screetching sounds. When the food is gone I just wipe the tray and put this toy back on there for him to play with and he will play the whole time I'm cleaning things up right up until I take him out of the chair for his nap!!! Also I love that it teaches him a little bit of Spanish while he's playing and the fact that it is so interactive. For us it was definately worth the price!

Although she can tip this toy over, my baby girl loves it. She sits and plays with it for minutes on end and loves to lay on the horn and turn the wheel. I find the Spanish a bit annoying, but it isn't an issue when I turn it to the sounds only mode. I think it's funny that she is six months old and already likes to burn rubber!

Classic Edition Originally released 2000 Baby Cookie Monster

Classic Edition Originally released 2000 Baby Cookie MonsterI have the original 2000 version of this Baby Cookie Monster. You can interact with him on three different parts of his body his hand, his outie belly button, or his mouth. Baby Cookie's arms flail when you touch him sometimes, and his hand has a bottle in it. He has a surprising variety of phrases all different depending on which part of the body you press. The most phrases I've seen in any talking Cookie Monster. He'll ask for Mamma, Dadda, Juice Please, Me Want More Please, Cookie Cookie Me Want Cookie Now Please (at least he's a polite monster), Yum, Burps, Crys, Coos, makes slurping noises when you give him his bottle, says Baby Cookie Happy, or the most heart tugging of them all Baby Cookie Sad (and then you just have to play with him more until he says he's happy again).

I've had him for 13 years now and though he doesn't get played with much his battery has lasted and he still talks as loud and moves as well as he did when he was brand new.

Because of the mechanical movement and speech, Cookie's body and head is a hard plastic under his fur. His eyes and legs are soft though. So he's not snuggleable.

A great toy for a child that enjoys baby dolls or actively playing/interacting with their stuffed animals, but not the best choice for one that wants a monster to hug at bedtime.

Toddler Softscape - Tunnel Climb-On

Toddler Softscape - Tunnel Climb-OnThis set is really sized for babies...crawlers and early walkers. The forms are durable and easy to cleans but too light in weight. Unlike the forms at Gymboree or Playorena, they're light enough for young children to move and pick up. I don't know why forms like this are so expensive, but I wish I'd saved my money and gotten the more expensive one designed for larger toddlers.

Under The Nile Banana Toy

Under The Nile Banana ToyMy little Anna Banana sleeps with this banana every night. It's soft and durable, doesn't mind if she chews on it, and has a sweet little face. It also washes well.

~BACKGROUND~

I purchased this as part of a set of 4 fruits for my 5 month old son who has really started teething.

~PROS~

Organic cotton

Soft Egyptian cotton

Feels sturdy and well constructed

Bright color

Good size for infants to grab and hold

Fair Trade Product socially and environmentally sustainable

~CONS~

No so far!

~TIPS~

If you are going to purchase organic/natural products for your child, use non-toxic cleaning products to clean the toys such as Charlie's Soap Laundry Powder, 2.64-Pounds or Seventh Generation Powder Laundry Concentrated, Free and Clear, 112-Ounce (Packaging May Vary).

Washing instructions: Machine wash only. Tumble dry until toy is completely dry. Do not immerse in water and leave out to dry. *Tip: Place a bath towel in the dryer with the toy to dry faster.

~CONCLUSION~

With so many products on the market that have unknown dyes, BPA, toxins, etc. in them it is great to find products such as these that I know are safe for my infant.

Fisher-Price Go Baby Go! Press And Crawl Turtle

Fisher-Price Go Baby Go! Press And Crawl TurtleDS likes to grab the top of it and push it around on the floor as he crawls. If he pushes the "button" on the top while he's playing with it on carpet it won't move. The device that turns the wheels doesn't build-up enough power to move over basic, builders grade carpet. So, yes, he'll play with it and crawl around with it, but he can't chase something that isn't zooming away from him as intended.

I got this toy for my then 6 month old daughter. She didn't play with it at all when I first got it but then as she was learning to crawl I figured I would give it another try. Like some of the other reviews said the toy does not move well on carpet and the button is extremely difficult to push down. My daughter is now 10 months and still can not push the button down to make it move so I end up having to do it. I myself find it difficult to push and it does not go very far. My daughter does watch as it moves but loses interest after that.

My daughter likes to walk around after the turtle. It goes great on hardwoods, but not very far on the carpet. Apple Park Picnic Pal Organic Wrist Rattle

Apple Park Picnic Pal Organic 4' Wrist Rattle, MonkeyI thought its a pretty good idea but my baby didn't find any interest in it at list for now (just turned 3 months). I wish it was making a stronger sound u barely can hear it

The packaging was very cute and tasteful it would make a good present for an expectant parent.

The rattle was well made and also cute.

But there was very little noise in the rattle. My infant barely knew she had it on, especially when it was on her ankle.

I wouldn't buy another because at least at four months there was very little entertainment value in it for my baby.

Baby's My First ABC Cloth Book

Baby's My First ABC Cloth BookMy baby tends to eat her books so I thought a cloth book would be safer to give her. It's cute but very simple, just teaching A, B and C (no other letters) and 1, 2 and 3 (no other numbers). What did impress me was that when I commented on how my number "1" had been sewed on upside-down (very upsetting for an anal gal like me) they sent me a new one right away. That kind of customer service is rare these days!

This book is adorable and research shows a newborn/baby would be interested in it. However my child is now nearing four months and has yet to pay attention to this book.

Not only that, but when I washed it (as this will eventually end up in my child's mouth) the book lost so much color it looks faded and worn. It looks as though it had been washed about 8x already.

Save your money and buy a book that has a large 'crinkly' page in it. Kids really eat that up and they will develop their hearing as well as visual/coordination skills. My suggestion is Sesame Street Teething Book. This way, they will also have it for the teething stage!

I really wanted this book to work. Unfortunately, not worth the $10.

International Playthings Earlyears Sweet Baby Blocks

International Playthings Earlyears Sweet Baby BlocksNote that, as fun as this product is, the manufacturer admits that it is made of PVC, polyvinyl chloride, known to be dangerous if babies chew on it. This toy is only appropriate for older children who don't stick everything in their mouths.

CORRECTION: As one of the comments pointed out, phthalates are the dangerous component of PVC (which I didn't know when I wrote the original review), and this claims to be phthalate-free PVC (I checked, there is such a thing), so presumably it IS safe for babies after-all. I changed my rating accordingly.

I have been hunting for these b/c I use them all the time with toddlers with developmental delays. Stacking is an important motor skill for eye-hand coordination. These are large enough to allow success, and b/c they are rubber, they don't slide off each other.

I also use them for speech. Up is an easy early word, and you can say up up up, boom in play over and over. Then, you can pause while stacking each one (hanging on to the stack so the child doesn't boom them ahead of time), count to three before saying "up" to put the next block on. If you've made this up-boom game fun, your child so wants you to hurry and do it that he/she will start saying "up" before you to get the tower built faster. The blocks also have typical early animals that can be named over and over in play, along with the animal sounds.

I'm ordering a set for work and a set for my granddaughter.

Buy International Playthings Earlyears Sweet Baby Blocks Now

I am not so sure but seems to me that if my daughter bites these blocks, she starts to have tiny little red dots on her face (around her mouth and her cheeks). I now don't give her these blocks to play anymore. I guess I will wait until she grows a bit more then throw out for her to play again. Hope she is not allergic to these blocks. FYI, my daughter skin is not sensitive at all. She has never any skin problem (rash...) with wipes, soap, detergent, diaper...Other toys I purchased did not cause any problem (she bites all of them though). She was 4 months old when I gave her these blocks. She was at the stage that she liked biting everything she had in her hands. I guess I will try these blocks again when she is around 7 months old and see. But be aware that your child can be allergic to these blocks like my little princess.

Read Best Reviews of International Playthings Earlyears Sweet Baby Blocks Here

I was so excited when these arrived. The package looked great and the blocks were so cute. But as soon as I opened the plastic pouch the smell was overwhelming. These blocks have a terrible plastic/chemical smell. They really are worse than most dog toys. I tried to soak them overnight in soapy water...but not only did the smell not diminish, but you can't get all of the water out of the blocks. Since they aren't bath toys I knew they would get mildew or moldy with water stuck in them, and since I won't give these stinky things to a baby, I tossed them. I would not reccommend these.

green sprouts Organic Velour Finger Puppet 3pc Set

green sprouts Organic Velour Finger Puppet 3pc Set-Farm GirlsNot only were these finger puppets adorable, they were a life saver for my granddaughter. We had tried everything to get her to stop sucking her thumb. The dentist suggested finger puppets. I found these on Amazon and they did the job. My granddaughter didn't want to suck her thumb with one of her "friends" on her thumb. Great quality for the price too.

We recently purchased these finger puppets, and so far I'm pleased with them. I love that they are organic cotton, they easily fit over an adult's finger, and the faces are really cute! They are long enough that my 5 month old can grasp and chew on them, but they are small enough that you wouldn't want to leave your child unattended with them.

These finger puppets are very cute and keep baby amused. They are safe enough to let baby hold also. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because they are actually too loose on all of my fingers. My baby is more intereted in chewing these than anything else. I think I enjoy the cuteness of the animals more than she does. Maybe she'll have more fun playing with them once she's older and can understand what they're actually supposed to be (she was only 4 months when I got them). They're perfect size for her little hands to hold on to. Glad they're organic since they mainly go in her mouth; very cute!
