This is the toy that has been replaced twice. Our child is a teen now and still loves it.

He saw many sites on his journey across the states. He went from PowerGas in Dunellen to the Arch in St. Louis to the Ozarks to Texas oil refineries to ancient ruins to the VLA and White Sands. But he didn't stop there! That was just summer 2007... In Winter 2008 Slick headed West again to spend 3 months camping in Death Valley California. He stayed in Las Vegas and the Sierra Nevadas! Disney Minnie's 1st Birthday Party Favor Box Party Supplies

This is such a cute and fun party favor. All items are pretty good quality and I also received a stuffed toy with every one of them (cupcake). I highly recommend it.

The girls, age 3, at my daughter's first birthday party loved this! It was nice because since there weren't a lot of kids I didn't have to worry about buying favors in a set of 8 only to have a ton a leftovers. I just bought the number of boxes I needed and had a variety of items to put in. The box was very sturdy and easy to put together. It entertained them and gave them something special while my daughter opened her gifts. I didn't care for the way it was shipped, everything was loose in a box too big. I also was missing one of the sets of hair ties. But those are my only complaints and why it's 4 stars instead of 5.

VTech Slide 'N Learn Storybook

I received this for my baby shower, my son is now 15 months old and this is still his favorite toy. When he got sick and was stuck in the hospital, this was the only thing that would calm him down at night. He can sit and flip the pages and press the buttons for hours and be entertained. For a child that is contantly on the move, that's saying something. I wish he had more toys like this! It talks, it sings, it lights up... What more can a child ask for?

I bought this for my 15 month old daughter for Christmas last year. She still loves this toy. I bought one for my niece for her first birthday since my daughter loves hers so much. As for durability, our dog tried to chew it, but wasn't able to do much besides a couple of marks.

I would have rated this book 5 star; however, when we received it my grand-daughter wanted to play with it right away. She was unable to do so, because the batteries in it were dead. It needed 2 AAA batteries. Once we got that taken care of it was fun and games! Great for our 20 month old. Hope she continues to play with it for a long time to come.

It contains a gavel, 2 turtles, and a roller toy made of the same indestructible plastic & colors. They have been thrown from the high chair, washed many times, and show no wear. Some of these toys can be found in museum stores and some on Amazon, including Battat toys for older toddlers & children.

The recipient really enjoyed the toy (he's 1) and it isn't too very hard to push down. A little force is required, but he got the hang of it pretty quickly. Getting the toy out of the twist ties and tape was quite an undertaking, but we did it in the end.

I wonder if the reviewer below got a defective plane. Ours is fantastic. We just got it as a gift for our 14 month old. While he is too young to have figured it out already, I feel it's something he can do on his own. It does not feel difficult at all.

The goal of this toy is that a child is suppose to be able to push the pilot down and then the airplane will roll on it's own. The target age is 18 months and older. I bought this for a 23 month old. However, as an adult, I, myself found you need to really put a bit of strength in pushing the pilot down. I even showed my husband and he said no way can a young child work this toy. You can move it around without pushing the pilot for imaginary play, but it only goes forward, if you try it move it backwards it will only go a very short distance because of the workings inside the toy. Typically a child would like to move a toy forward and back like a toy car, but not with this toy sadly. The child I bought it for got frustrated with this toy and ended up getting upset. The only positives I can say is that it is a very durable plastic and visually it's adorable. It's a shame

Lamaze High Contrast Grip & Grab Flower

I bought this toy in a store while I was pregnant.. I started showing this toy to my daughter around 2 weeks and she loved to look at it! Now that she's 4 months old she still likes it but sometimes has a hard time holding onto it. I think if the flower petals were more narrow it would be easier for her; but she enjoys grabbing it and shoving the toy in her mouth!

My baby loves this toy. She has down syndrome and is floppy but this toys catches her eye and makes her work her neck muscles when I move it from the left to right. It keeps her interested. Absolutely love it.

This was in a congratulations bag from a friend when we told her we were expecting. I saw it and didn't think much of this toy to be honest. I had almost completely forgotten about it but saw it on his toy shelf and happened to hand it to him. This was at about 3ish months old, when he was really starting to "play" with his own toys (i.e. examine them, then shove them in his mouth lol). He LOVES this toy has since the day I handed it to him. He absolutely loves to grab onto it with both hands and shove it in his mouth always so that the 3 little ribbons are touching his tongue. Then he'll take it out, examine both sides of the toy and stick it back in his mouth. Rinse and repeat. Keeps him occupied for much longer than any of his other toys after the newness of any of them wears off and has for far longer than any of the other toys (most he gets relatively bored with after a few weeks).

Highly recommend this (to me at least) surprisingly perfect toy for an infant!

The smiling face in the center makes our little guy laugh sometimes, and he loves the textures and crinkly sounds. We bought this when he was around 3-4 months old. At that time he did not like it much. The gap between the four fabric pieces, which has the black and red plastic ring is too short for babies when they are learning to grasp.

I bought this rattle as a baby shower gift for my sister-in-law. It is very soft and lightweight so it should be easy for the little one to pick up and play with when she is big enough. It was definitely worth the money!

I paid like $7 for this item and I know it say 6'' but, I had not clue it be this small but, it cute saving it for my son that will be born in Aug :).And it's made really thick with long lasting material and the rattle is pretty loud luv it. Just wish the price was alil lower not worth more than $5 to me but, you will not find this in an dollar store.

Chicco Magic Blocks Stacking Toy, Little House

We bought this set of magnetic blocks for my son when he was six months old. It's rated for 9m or above, but there is no choking hazard. At that time, he liked to knock the blocks apart when we stacked them together. He also loved (for no explainable reason) the orange stacking platform. (He loved the orange platform so much we brought it on a long plane ride with us, no blocks, just the platform...). It's hard to find blocks in the 9m group, they all tend to be soft material style blocks, which are outrageously price-pointed by the block. So, as a comparison to what's available for the young baby block market, this product is quite interesting and fun. However, if you really want to build up a structure in a building toy sort of way (like an early Duplo, say), this product really isn't it, I'd say look elsewhere. If you want cute blocks to stack in a minor way and animal heads and bodies that you play with in a individual manner, then this toy is great for a Baby and young Toddler.

How the magnetic blocks work: One side of each block has a semi-spherical convex red "dot" that fits into a concave red dot indentation. You can see the convex red dot on the right side of the product photo on the green key and blue door blocks (the two column block behind the daisy block). The corresponding indent part is on the opposite side of the same block. For example, you can see the indent side on the pink little girl body block. So you align the two blocks, and then these two sides will always lightly "click" together: The magnetic strength is fairly weak, you can lift the blocks up in sets of two, but it is a baby toy, they just won't give you strong magnets.

Stacking upwards: The blocks are stacked upwards by fitting each block's raised yellow dot (see the tricycle block in the product photo) into a similarly shaped indent that is in the base of every block. This isn't magnetic at all, and thus this stacking is only stable for about four blocks up (they don't balance snugly in a vertical way), and then your whole structure will fall. That's why I would say these blocks aren't great for real building, in any building sort of way.

The Heads: All of the heads have a light seed-rattle sound when you shake them. My son has always adored this, even now at 17m. The heads sit lightly in the body base (or any block base, in fact) using the same yellow raised dot-indent spot detailed above. They are easily knocked out of place. This always irritates me a bit, but it doesn't bother my son a bit: He likes to play with the heads as little rattles, and the bodies separately, as little specialized teething arm-chewies. He loves to knaw on those little plastic arms, he's able to get them onto the gum spots that are irritating him.

The Blocks: The blocks are exactly what you see in the product picture: Boy Head, Boy body, Girl Head, Girl body, Cat head, Cat body, Double-long rooftop, Chimney roof, Tricycle, Window, Key block where key turns in block with a satisfying click-click (this went on vacation with us this last week in fact), Brick block, Door block, Flower block (obscured by little Boy block in the product photo), and specialized Flower Shape block, specialized Mailbox shaped block.

My main issue with Chicco Magic Blocks is that they don't have a kit that sells a high percentage of blocks that you can stack up in a building toy way, they always sell additional kits that have a high percentage of Heads and Bodies (which are fun in their own way) and/or specialized blocks that don't have joining/stacking features. So other than the Chicco Magic Blocks Savannah Friends set (which we bought and totally like, Monkey, Hippo, Elephant, Lion heads and bodies), we aren't going to expand this set. It's a pity, I wanted a little magnetic building set during that time period....

So, in short, bought at 6m, played with exuberantly in a baby way. At 17m: We like the individual blocks, and sometimes stack them. That orange platform appeals to my son in a way I can't fathom. Overall, I'd say excellent for the 9m age range, there just aren't any cute block-stackers that aren't choking hazards. And for us, I think the toy has a unique sort of longevity in an individual block play sort of way. I'm happy we bought it, but it's not a building toy set, per se.

I am a huge Chicco fan, but this toy was very disappointing. The little hands on the people are an accident waiting to happen....too sharp for little ones. I found the magnet system difficult and I'm an adult! After getting rid of the little arms on the people I gave this toy away I would not recommend this toy.

Chicco Talking Dragon

This toy has the best songs. I find myself singing them in my head even when my son isn't playing with it. It's too cute. The colors are great as well.

My Grandson loves this toy. His parents have already memorized the songs played. Wish the cord was longer than it currently is to pull from a distance.

Munchkin Soft Animal Stackers Toy

Cute, but there is no base attached to the rod to be able to use it as a stacker. Even at 15 months, my daughter can't stack and hold the rod, and even still the rod just barely fits, and she brings me the penguin head to put back on. She enjoys the giggling penguin head, but for the price, its not worth it.

This toy seemed like a good idea. It is soft and safe. However, a baby can't stack the rings. They need to be pushed on and that's something a one-year-old doesn't want to do. I would recommend the plastic stackables if you want your baby to learn that skill.

The stacker is cute, but overpriced. I think the reason they charge so much is that the penguin head has sound... that's right, sound. When the head goes onto the top of the stack it seems like it is supposed to then giggle, unfortuantely, it giggles more often when the head is detached. Basically it is a strange laughing disembodied head.

Despite that, it also seems to have an issue being stacked as the center for the stacker is nothing but a fabric rod, it doesn't balance on it's own and if the bottom ring is off (as it is not attached) it doesn't stand. This makes it very difficult to actually use as a stacker. It's great as a small pile of fabric donuts, but that's about it. My daughter was 6 months when I got this, and she didn't terribly enjoy it then, she still barely touches the thing, preferring almost any other toy (or non-toy).

It's certainly not worth the cost. The only reason I gave it 2 stars and not one, is that the quality of the item is good. So, if you are looking for something sturdy for your child to teethe on, it might work out, but as an actual stacker it's really not worth anything.

This toy is adorable. I purchased it because my daughter has been intrigued with penquins since she was small. Now I have the opportunity to share this with my grandchild. The fabric is incredibly soft, and the rings have a lot of interest. further, they can be put on in any order until the child learns size differences. I especially liked the save the penquins words embroidered on the bottom ring. I know this will be a favorite toy at christmas.

This is a nice toy. Very pretty pingvin had. My granddaughter 18 months like this toy. She play with it when she see it. Now days kids have a lot of toys and do not know which to take for play. But when you pay kid attenetion to direct toy, they gbab it and play in a while. Good toy, I am happy I have it.

Colorful Cuties - Eeyore

I'm probably somewhat biased as I feel anything that looks like Eeyore is wonderful but this is one of the cuter ones. Cute songs and pleasant voice singing. Definitely not one of those obnoxious sounding toys that seem to abound. Highly recommend.

Brainy Baby Music Board Book

It is a nice board book that shows pictures and names most musical instruments. This book is more of a reference book than a story book. It kind of goes off on a tangent on dance on the last pages.

This book is a board book, with glossy pages and lots of pictures. It seems well bound, although I haven't had it for long. It comprises seven two-page spreads focusing on different aspects of music, and especially Western musical instruments. The seven spreads are:

Percussion Instruments

Wind Instruments

String Instruments

Instruments from Different Lands

Pitch

Music Symbols

Dance

The first five of these consist of arrays of photos of instruments, mainly disembodied, although five (the trumpet, violin, cello, [electric] guitar and triangle) are pictured being played by (exclusively white) children. These photos are high quality, and are probably the best feature of the book. If all you want are some nice pictures of some musical instruments, then the book does meet that threshold.

The balance of photos is odd though. The violin is pictured twice (under String Instruments and again on the Pitch page, where it is grouped with the high pitched instruments.) Three separate saxophones are pictured: a tenor sax on the cover, an alto sax (with the cap on) on the Wind Instruments page, and a Baritone Sax on the Pitch page (grouped with the low pitched instruments). And room is found for an ocarina. To my dismay, there are no pictures of a bassoon (my own instrument), but more shockingly, there are no keyboard instruments at all. No piano, no organ. There is also no mention at all of singing!

The Percussion Instruments page is focused on instruments that children might play; for example, the xylophone depicted is a children's instrument, and there is no sign of a tympani or bass drum (except in the picture of the drum kit), but the other pages don't seem to share this tendency (the harp shown, for example, is a full sized seven pedal orchestral harp).

But where the book really fails (rather than just being a bit lazy) is the page on Musical Symbols. There is collection of symbols described as "notes"; these symbols are indeed mainly notes grouped and ungrouped eighth notes, a half note, etc but sitting among them is an accidental, a "flat". This is downright wrong. On the same page is an except from some written music (Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, I think), which contains two errors, one smallish (a missing accidental), and one egregious (a note that is missing entirely, leaving behind a disembodied ledger line!).

On the facing page is a depiction of notes on a staff, but they are just random dots one note seems to be missing a ledger line, and they make no rhythmic sense. Adding insult to injury is the caption, which is of (at best) questionable accuracy: "A treble clef tells the musician to play high notes".

With sloppy errors like these, it is hard to get too upset about the other minor quibbles one might have: for example, the identification of the West African djembe with all of Africa, or the exclusive identification of gongs with Japan, or bagpipes with Scotland (although the text is careful here "Some gongs come from Japan" and "Scotland is famous for its bagpipes" the fact remains that the picture of the gong is juxtaposed with a silhouette of Japan).

So, all in all, the pictures are good, the binding is good, the selection of the pictures is questionable, and the page on musical notation is awful. The omission of keyboard instruments and of singing is shocking!

And there is no bassoon.

This book's publisher, The Brainy Company, has not lived up to its name with this product.

Princess Linens Doodlebugz Doodlebag

I purchased this for my twins and I am still in shock at the chalkboard. It basically isn't a chalkboard. The chalk doesn't work on it and because it is a flimsy piece of plastic. For the money I paid they could have put in something that you can actually write on. My twins are 2 and they have already given up on trying to draw on the so-called chalkboard.

I bought this at another store and paid $32 plus shipping. As other reviews have said, it is very flimsy and smaller than expected. I was picturing it as sort of a stiff lap sized book my daughter could use in the car or on the couch. It is small, and the pad included it very thin paper that basically fell off the cardboard in 2 seconds. The crayons are fine, but the chalk was mostly broken when it arrived. I wanted to send it back but my daughter was very excited about it despite it being flimsy. You can slip the crayons in the slots for travel and the chalkboard is the plastic in the back cover. The front pocket is small, so there is not much room to carry other items. I'm still going to bring it in the car for holiday travel, but I wish it was bigger and better especially for the money. I'd look for something better at store that you can see and touch before you buy. A portfolio meant for an adult with a baggie for crayons would have been better!

I bought this as a gift for another child, so I really can't comment on how fun or durable it is. But I did want to share the fact that when it arrived, it was much smaller and flimsier/cheaper looking than I had expected. I'm sure the small size will be great for the 3-year-old I got it for, but I just wasn't expecting it to be that size. The "chalkboard" is sort of like a piece of plastic or nylon or something, so it was way flimsier than I expected. Overall, I'm sure it's fine (haven't talked to the mom of the boy I got it for), but I was a bit surprised at how cheap it looked (especially for $25!). So, while it's probably fine (again, haven't asked the mother), it seemed way over priced for what I got.

Melissa & Doug Deluxe Happy Hippo Pull Toy

My son received this toy as a gift for his birthday. I am very impressed with how sturdy it is! He has taken this toy up and down the steps (all 13 of them) many times, and you would never know it, because the toy shows no signs of wear. He is fascinated with the moving mouth, and loves dragging it behind him all over the house. This toy reminds me of one I had as a child; it's nice to see that there's a company that still makes sturdy, classic toys that are reasonably priced.

My little one loves to pull her hippo all around the house. It's crafted very nicely... as are most Melissa & Doug wooden toys. I like that it's a classic wooden toy, a nice change from so many of her plastic, bells-and-whistle type toys. Even though she was able to walk around for awhile, she didn't really start to enjoy the toy for several months after walking/running. My only complaint is that the gadget/wheel that creates the open-and-shut mouth motion often falls off alignment. I have to manually realign the wheel to get it to open and shut again. Not a huge deal, but still somewhat inconvenient being its only "main" feature. I've also seen this toy in the frog version... which is also really cute.

After multiple children, the toy is still as cute as it was when originally purchased and ready to be passed on to our 11month old daughter. It has been thrown against walls, taken down stairs, running with a toddler, yet still works and has never had to be fixed. What can i say, its tons of fun and works great. Plus it survived this long.

That is exactly why we started buying only wood toys for our children--> plastic ones break to easily and its hard to fix them. Wood toys can easily be fixed and can be handed down generations to come. Plus they are hand made and parents can admire the craftsmanship.

My grandaughter loves this toy but there was a problem with the length of the pull rope. The rope was very long and as she played with it her parents noticed that the rope did go around her neck. The rope was shortened no problem. I would recomend this toy but with instructions to shorten the rope.

Caillou Wind up Bathtime Vehicles

My son loves Caillou and Gilbert. I bought this for him at Toys R Us, where it is much cheaper!!! My 3 year old and 1 year old both enjoy playing with this in the bathtub. Caillou and Gilbert both separate at the head, and you can switch their heads to make silly characters. It is easy for both of my kids to attach/separate them. They also snap onto the boat. The motor under the boat only works if you have the bathtub very full. I generally only fill the bathtub up with 6 inches of water, and the motor doesn't move the boat very well. I would guess it would work better in a pool or bathtub filled up much higher. We just play with the boat and characters, and leave the motor out of the tub. Overall, both of my sons enjoy this toy.

Fisher-Price Nighty Nighty Monkey - My Little Snug a Monkey

I picked this up for my almost six month old son for Christmas. I saw this at Target and purchased it along with the Fisher Price remote, which is infinitely better. My son likes "turning the pages" on things and has several toys that do this, including his Exersaucer, and I thought he would enjoy this for that reason. He doesn't. It only has two turnable pages, sings one song, and really isn't that interesting. My son likes the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Click 'n Learn Remote much, much better.

Tooth Fairy Pillow Blue

My 6 year old was so excited to start losing teeth and having the tooth fairy find it in this pillow. I think it would be appropriate for a boy or a girl.

My daughter received a similar tooth fairy pillow and I needed to find one for my son. This pillow is perfect and can hang anywhere. Much easier for the tooth fairy.
