Baby Einstein Around the World Soother

Baby Einstein Around the World SootherWe've been using this soother for a couple weeks now and our daughter seems to enjoy it. It definitely helps her to fall asleep. Even so, I'm giving it just 3 stars out of 5: minus 1 for the volume control, and minus 1 for the short rail straps. There are just two volume settings, both of which are kinda loud; they should have instead included a volume knob to allow you to adjust the sound more precisely. As for the rail straps, the geniuses at Baby Einstein apparently think everyone has a cheap crib with skinny rails. To the contrary, just about all the popular convertible cribs sold these days have thicker railings, too think for this soother. We had to mount it to our crib sideways just to get it to fit (see attached video).

This thing stinks! The straps are too short as previous poster said. It plays a chinese type music, which would be fine, but I figured it would be mozart or something baby einsteinish. Nope. No volume control. It is tooo loud. No option to mute the music. The remote needs something soft on the back so it doesn't bang on the door from the hanger. Returning this asap.

Buy Baby Einstein Around the World Soother Now

Like most baby products, the volume controls stink.

The straps are way to short, and difficult to get off.

Ours we've had for about a year. We don't use it very often though. Maybe once a week or every other week.

The sound STOPPED WORKING. I'm an IT guy so I troubleshoot everything. It just doesn't play sound anymore. So this will be tossed into my e-waste bin because without the sound this product isn't worth keeping.

This product is great. Our son loves it and falls asleep to it every time. However, there is one downside that made me give it 4 stars instead of 5 and that's the batteries. Do yourself a favor and just change the batteries every three weeks to save yourself trouble.

Imagine putting your 7 month old down for bed. You turn his screen on and leave the room. He starts crying, harder and harder. This isn't normal. You go in, the screens off, you turn it back on. He quiets down and you leave the room. Twenty seconds later he starts crying again. You go back in and the screen is off AGAIN. Dang, the batteries are dying and you have one of three options. 1) leave him and hope he can get himself to sleep without the screen 2) stand with the door cracked and hit the button on the remote every time it shuts off which is about every 15-20 seconds 3) take him out of bed, completely ruin your bedtime routine, take down the screen which is not an easy feat, find a screwdriver, undo the back to get the batteries out, hope to God you have C batteries because who has THOSE lying around the house, replace the batteries, screw the back on and remount it on the crib. Again, not easy. Put the baby back to bed and hope you didn't just screw everything up for the night.

Other than THAT it's great.

Couldn't get a full nights sleep without this!!! It is perfect to help my children go to sleep. I love that it lasts 25 minutes, with sound softening and lights dimming as it gets closer to turning off. I recommend this to everyone that is trying to get their infant to sleep in the crib.

Levels of Discovery Jungle Jingle Table and 2 Chair Set, Multi-color

Levels of Discovery Jungle Jingle Table and 2 Chair Set, Multi-colorThis table and chairs is perfect for our 15 month old daughter! I wanted to create a space of her very own that included a table and chairs. As hoped she loves them! The chairs are the perfect height for her to practice getting on and off of. Table is a little high yet but we can still do puzzles and have snacks on it without too much trouble. It was fairly easy to put together as well. My only complaint would be that the paint on the products is a little fragile. One of the chairs tipped over and left a huge red mark on the wall. Other than than that I would highly recommend this set.

Russ Berrie Treetops Giraffe Wrist Rattle

Russ Berrie Treetops Giraffe Wrist RattleThe giraffe is cute and soft, but it doesn't make any real noise. My 4 month old (now six months) couldn't make it ring. She does enjoy giving it a good chew. Since she used to have trouble holding on to a teething ring, the giraffe was good for that. I thought it was supposed to be a RATTLE!

Very adorable! can't wait to see it on my new little niece. Can't wait til her shower when her mama sees it. Thank you so much.

Just Kidz Starter Learning Board

Just Kidz Starter Learning BoardOne of my twins was delayed about 18 months and still not speaking at 3 and a half. He does play with this toy constantly. Recently he was using this toy with the Shapes, Alphabets, Numbers and pictures of Objects and it speaks to you in multiple facets. It explains the visuals mentioned earlier and another category will test him. While testing the voice will then convey to him if he has the correct answer by saying "Well done" or "Perfect" or "Good Job" then reaffirm to him his correct choice by describing the visual. If he chooses the wrong answer he will hear her offer to "try again", only once, then give him the answer if it's an incorrect choice. The voice will ask the user to press the correct Shape, Alphabet, Number or pictures of objects Randomly!

Well this afternoon I was at my desk working when I realized I was hearing, in succession, "Well done" or "Perfect" or "Good Job" and it prompted me to go see what he was really doing. I ended up sitting down with him and the toy marveling at what he was accomplishing. He didn't miss one answer! Without any help from us he has learned 4 basic Shapes, the entire Alphabet, Numbers up to ten and 26 pictures of objects totaling 66 items! Remember it is random. For the shapes it will show a tree and ask what shape is it and he answered correctly; a triangle. Heck, I couldn't figure out the shape of a leaf fast enough....it's a heart. When asking for numbers it does not show the number until he has entered it. Although I was reaffirming myself with excitement for him the boy was totally nonchalant about the exercise, as if there was nothing to it.

His brother, who is not delayed cannot complete this test.

WeeRide Kangaroo Child Bike Seat

WeeRide Kangaroo Child Bike SeatI wanted to get something for my ten month old so I could ride my bike while my three year old rides his. We have a trailer but I wanted to try a seat because I thought it would be easier than dragging the trailer outespecially just for riding slowly around the neighborhood with a three year old!

The front kind seemed like a good idea. The whole reason I bought a trailer in the first place was because I was afraid of my balance being thrown off with a bike seat. This front mounted seat is super for balance! I felt very comfortable with my daughter up front and she loved it! We just went for a test run around the block after installing it.

I was able to install in less than 20 mins with a 10 month old crawling around. So I'd say it was pretty easy. It's also very easy to remove the seat when you don't want it on your bike.

I was a little afraid of how my knees would hit the seat but I figured for the price I would just order it and give it a try and if it didn't work out I'd return it.

It's much better than I thought it would be. My knees don't really hit but I have to pedal in a way that I'm aware that the seats there. Not really a big deal, just something to get use to.

The seat does seem a little wobbly, not terribly so though, so not a huge deal. I may be able to adjust it to keep it from doing this. The seat was so easy to install I actually haven't read the manual yet...

Over all for the price you can't beat it. What a cool thing.

I just want to add that I recently went to our local hospital where they do helmet fittings to get a new helmet for my three year old and they wouldn't sell me one for my daughter until she's a year. The AAP doesn't recommend children ride in trailers or bike seats until a year. Trailers are also recommended over bike seats because the majority of accidents happen in bike seats. Although I would imagine that would be the back mounted type. It would be interesting to see a study about front mounted seats as they become more available.

Get this seat! Just be safe!

I have been looking for a way to take my 2 1/2 year old riding with me. The salesperson at my local bike store refused to sell me a back mounted infant seat because they are so dangerous. I don't want a trailer which are safe, but I enjoy riding the many fire trails by our house.

So this was a great fit.

PROS

1) easy to attachI also switched screws and bolt from the front/back attachment as the seatpost of my TREK needed the bolts from the front attachment.

2) comfortable ridemy daughter is very comfortable and the center of gravity is outstanding... I don't feel unsafe on the bike

3) Easy to removethere is a screw that once you unscrew it you can take the chair off and you can ride normally.

CONS-

1) The seat belt system stinks It is really bad and not very safe.

2) Going up hill is toughdefinitely be in shape for those uphills, more then 2x as tough...but it is a great workout

3) You can't use clipped pedalsbecause you have to splay your legs a little to pedal, clipped pedals are not feasable

Again, My daughter is comfortable (she's 35 inches tall) but in about 3-6 months she will be too tall for this chair... but for now we are having a blast!

Buy WeeRide Kangaroo Child Bike Seat Now

The seat is wonderful-it just was not made to be used with a petite rider I guess. I am 5' tall, and when the seat's foot rests are in their fully-extended position, they interfere with my steering mechanism-making it very dangerous for me to make turns. The seat itself is right in my gut. I can lean on it to push it forward, so it isn't too awful, but the worst part is that in order to pedal, I have to extend my legs outwards. It is a terrible strain on my knees and makes this a very uncomfotable-and sometimes overly painful experience.

I had been trying to put together a combination of a good comfort bike and a child seat for over a week and found a great success with this one.

There are some workarounds with which I got them working together. Needless to say, after putting together this, my 2yr 3 month 39" tall kid enjoyed the ride and never wanted to get back home :)

Pros:

1. Significantly better than the Bell child seat (back mounted).

2. Looks and feels much better. Satisfied.

3. My son is 39" tall and 2yr 3 months and weighs around 27lbs. I was hesitant to buy this seat given his tall height for his age. He was able to sit comfortably and still has lot of room to grow!

4. Assembly time: 20-30 min (with workarounds: Read below)

5. The seat is detachable from the child seat frame. That way, you can remove the seat if you wish to go biking on your own.

Cons:

1. The belts are sized for fitting infants when I removed the seat out-of-the-box. You may have to try multiple combinations to fit it for your child. It took me a while and was frustrating.

2. The bottom of the horizontal bar has bolts protruding out. If you rest the bar on the horizontal bar of the frame of the bike, make sure you add some padding (like a piece of soft cloth). Otherwise, the bolts could bite into the paint of the bike frame.

3. The Saddle height adjustment is not possible after adding this child seat. Make sure your bike is adjusted for your height first.

Workarounds and Howto (and comparison with Bell child seat)

I had a terrible experience with the Bell Child seat (rear mounted). I had to return this one since it just wasn't engineered to latch on to the frame near the rear wheel. Poor incompatible design. After force-fitting the Bell child seat, there was hardly 4" space between the saddle and the back of the child seat leaving only around 4" space for my kid. Absolutely a waste!

WeeRide child seat was much easier to assemble, if you can play around with the bike you have.

1. Buy a bike that you think can take such a child seat. Example, I bought a Schwinn 26" Mens Comfort bike from costco for $199 and assembled the seat on it.

2. In my bike, there wasn't enough space to bolt the front of the bar since the vertical space between the moving elements of the handle and the frame was too small. I had to let go of the front bolts. Since the rear ones and the horizontal bar center bolts were secured very tight, I felt comfortable letting go of the front ones.

3. Add a soft cloth padding between the horizontal bar of the child seat and horizontal frame of your bike.

I am really happy with this seat.

Want WeeRide Kangaroo Child Bike Seat Discount?

I was very disappointed to find that this seat does not fit on either my wife's or my bicycle. Both are fairly standard off-the-bike-store-rack models. The company's misleading advertising states it fits virtually any bike. What it should say is that you must have at least 3/4"-1" of head tube extending above the top tube so that the front mounting clamp will fit without interfering with the headset bearings (steering mechanism.) My trek mountain bike has essentially no such space. My wife's Giant city/trail bike had a little more space due to the sloping "ladies" top tube, but the clamp still did not fit. Had I known this, I would not have wasted the shipping fees, and gotten a seat that fits.

Taggies Oh So Softies Plush Monkey, Pink

Taggies Oh So Softies Plush Monkey, PinkAs a pediatric nurse and grandmother this is a sweet gift for a new granddaughter. The soft pink fur is so soothing to touch and its many silky, colorful little "taggies' are something else for my little sweetheart to reach for and discover. I am sure this will be like one of those "well loved" stuffed animals I see toddlers carting around long after she's graduated from her crib to a bed.

I bought this for my 7 month old daughter because I noticed she started chewing on the tags on all of her stuff. So I bought this and she thought it was okay. She went straight for the real tag though. If only the taggies were longer like the real ones and more fun I think this would be the best thing yet! But it's fun and cute for them to carry around and play with, sleep with!

VTech Alphabet Activity Cube

VTech Alphabet Activity CubeMy 11mo. old daughter loves her cube, particularly the musical side with "piano" keys. It has 13 blocks with letters that can be inserted into a square, which then names the letter and has a fun tune to go along with it. It's fun, very durable, and a toy that she always goes back to on a daily basis.

My only problem, and a large problem for our family, is that the toy has bad grammar! Yes, you read it, they programmed the toy with incorrect English. For instance, our biggest pet peeve, is the letter "O." When "O" is inserted the toy says, "This be the letter 'O'." For some families, I'm sure this is not a big deal. For the daughter of two teachers, this is a problem.

I would still purchase the cube for the hours of entertainment it provides and musical playtime. The larger looming question for me: How have our standards slipped this far when it comes to language and communication, particularly in the area of a children's teaching tool?

My daughter was given this for her 1st birthday and she loves to dance to the music and play with the blocks. Unfortunately when placing the block in the space for it to tell you what letter is, it doesn't state the correct letter! H is I and so forth! Not to mention the "this BE the letter _" it's horrible to think that she would be repeating that. I don't have the receipt since it was a gift and when I called VTEC they wanted me to send this HUGE toy to them and pay the shipping. I don't get how I should have to pay to replace a toy that is defective! It might end up in the trash!!!

Buy VTech Alphabet Activity Cube Now

I have just bought this for my one year old. He really loves it and it keeps him entertained for quite some time. It is a lovely, colourful toy which seems to be quite durable. I also love its size as we are short on space in my house so its quite compact and fits away nicely when my son is gone off to bed, meaning that my sitting room is not over run with toys.

However I do have one issue with the product. I am a teacher, specialising with young children who experience difficulty with reading and writing. So when I over heard the Learning Cube telling my son that the letter 't' was the letter 'p' and made a 'p' sound I wasn't too impressed. I even double checked it a number of times to make sure I had heard it right.

I have always been happy and impressed with Vtech toys and have always thought they were good value for money. Its just a shame they can't tell their 't's from their 'p's!!!! : {

Read Best Reviews of VTech Alphabet Activity Cube Here

This toy is great, my 8 month old uses it to stand as long as it's on the carpet, non carpeted floors it slides... It's also easy to carry, the bead chaser makes an excellent handle so you can carry it while holding your baby... My baby girl plays with this alot, it has two settings and one of the if you press the keys will play consecutive notes in a children's songs, so instead of hearing random keys being smashed you hear twinkle twinkle little star or entertainer or there's a few different ones... I really like that, makes it not annoying... When you put a letter block in it will say I am the letter __ or it's me the letter O, not this be the letter O smh... and as for the t and p mix up, I mean come on it's a computer voice, geeze, it's your job to teach your child how to make the ta and pa sounds anyway, not the toy's... This product is really cool... My daughter and I enjoy it...

Want VTech Alphabet Activity Cube Discount?

As has been noted, the block reader often announced the wrong letter. I verified that every one of the toys on the shelf at the local store did the same, so it's a company problem not a defective unit. But VTech, like so many offshore companies, doesn't care. The email address for technical help, given with the toy and on their website, isn't active, and a call to them brought only, "I'll report it to the proper department," plus a claim that they weren't aware of the problem. But I found it within ten seconds of turning on the toy, so even the most cursory of acceptance tests by the company quality assurance department, before the toy went into manufacture, would have found this.

Perhaps this is simply one of the dangers of having people who speak Chinese design toys for English speakers, but whatever the cause, it's unforgivable to charge that much money and then deliver a toy that does mis-educates our children.

North American Bear Loppy Baby Cozie Blankie

North American Bear 8.5' Loppy Baby Cozie Blankie, Bunny BlueI purchased this for an Easter gift for my new granddaughter. I purchased the pink bunny. She is less than a month old. It is a small item, but very soft. I think it will be nice to tuck into a diaper bag. She's too young to say what she thinks of it, but I think my little one will like it.

I love this item. It is super soft and small enough to be thrown in a bag easily.it is also very easy to clean by just putting it I n thellaundry with baby's clothes. The color is also very cute.. bright and playful to attract babys attention.

Buy North American Bear Loppy Baby Cozie Blankie Now

We bought three of these on the recommendation of a sleep expert and our 7 month old took to them right away (she was 5 months at the time). These are marketed as "baby safe" and after testing it ourselves as well, we feel comfortable with her having them in her crib even though she is less than 1 year old. Previous to this we tried Angel Dears Angel Dear Napping Blanket, Green Froggy but seem a little big for her. The blanket part was larger and we always felt nervous leaving them with her due to the risk of suffocation. Our little one sleeps with these new ones for every nap and overnight and the first thing she does is grab one and hugs/chews it to sleep. I would recommend buying several as they get dirty quickly and we actually put 3 in her crib with her so she can always find them if she wakes up looking for one.

The only con I would say is the little hairs on the lamb head/ears have already become matted and ratty after only 2 months of use, even after washing. They do get washed 1-2 times per week. If I could go back, I probably would have bought a different style without the short white "fur" as they would probably last longer. We have already had to buy 3 more to replace the first ones.

Read Best Reviews of North American Bear Loppy Baby Cozie Blankie Here

These animals are cute but they are just too small. I was looking for some animal variety as my daughter loves "blankie" toys. However this one is almost half the size of those made by other companies. Plus the fact it is so flat with the exception of the head, there is just not much for her to hold on to.

I would recommend these toys for infants up to about 6 months with supervision. My one year old pitches it more than she plays with it since it is so small and light.

This is not a blankie in any sense of the word, it is a small flat bunny but it would maybe cover the babys thigh. She likes it to chew on the ears, but to call it a blankie is misleading.

Dandelion Plush Toy

Dandelion Plush Toy, GiraffeThis is just a layman's review but we really love the blue bear. We bought both the lion and the bear to compare. The lion was cute but a little too shiny and not as cute as the bear, so we returned it. The bear is also a little shiny and really adorable. The nose is a little oversized, so it gives his face a little more personality than a regular teddy bear. It's the perfect size for a 7 month old to hold and cuddle, and he likes to stroke its shiny, soft "fur."

The bear had some weights in his butt so that he could sit sort of upright (feels like little pellets, like the inside of a beanbag). After a spin in the washer and dryer, he came out looking perfectly fine, but the pellets all shifted over to the right side of his butt. He doesn't look lopsided, but he tends to slump over to that side and he feels a little lumpy there (aren't we all though?).

Still, this is a great organic plush toy for baby, and we and baby love it.

I like that this toy is safe enough for my baby to gnaw on and sleep with. She's had it since she was 5 months old...she's 16-months now. It doesn't really look like a lion, and she's not crazy about it, but it's joined her crib as one of the buddies she likes in there when she goes to bed. I like that it's easy to clean (I just toss it in the wash with her clothes, and into the dryer). It's held up pretty well. It just doesn't look like a lion, that's all.

We bought the giraffe for our 6 months old baby. She loves to chew and taste everything. The giraffe is supper cute and she likes it right away. It is easy to just throw in the washer and dryer with her clothes. The only thing we dislike about it is that now after 2-3 months the fur fabric is peeling/loosing out after the baby chewed and bit it. We are now reluctant to give it to our daughter knowing she might eat those loose fabric.

International Playthings Octivity Pal

International Playthings Octivity PalI picked this up second hand because I thought it was cute. My 7 mo. old seems to like it and it's easy for her to activate the lights & sound which is a plus, however there is no on/off switch so it turned on constantly in the diaper bag. Kids Preferred Flat Blanky, Pat the Bunny

Kids Preferred Flat Blanky, Pat the BunnyMy 9 month old adores this bunny. Just bought a second one "just in case" because she always snuggles it in her hand as she sucks her thunb to go to sleep & it's the first thing she looks for upon waking up. It's like her very own security blanket in a nice small, soft, portable size.

My niece has the original Pat the Bunny stuffed bunnies and always loved them so I decided to try this instead for my own daughter (so as not to copy her). The flat bunny is so much better than the stuffed because she can get a better grip on it. It is the size of the average stuffed animal without the stuffing. She is 5 months old now and loves rubbing it and sleeps better when it is with her. I have a feeling this will end up being her lovey so I have bought several! I like it better than a real blanket lovey because I worry about her covering her face with a blanket. This was just perfect!

Buy Kids Preferred Flat Blanky, Pat the Bunny Now

My son received this as a gift. It is the perfect size to play peek-a-boo, but the only reason it is called a 'blanket' is that there is no stuffing in the body. Still a soft, sweet toy with a flat body the size of an average adult's hand.

Gave her to my granddaughter for Easter...she loves it. We put her in her Easter basket with the eggs making it look like she was sitting on her nest. It was a big hit. Thanks!!

The Smurfs Romper And Headpiece Smurfette

The Smurfs Movie Romper Costume, Smurfette, Toddler Sizesoft material, i was pleased with the product. My daughter is a 22 months old toddler and she fits this costume perfectly. i can not imaging a 3 or 4 year old could fit in this costume. But the product stated it was for 2T to 4T!

Fits like a glove, although the feet were ridiculously large. I put it on my daughter and couldn't help but be an "awww" ... highly recommend.

Thank you the costume was a little small but it worked and she loved it. We will be ordering something again.

We got this for my daughter for Halloween, and it fit great, and it was a nice weight to keep of the chill of a Midwest Halloween night. She loved it, and with a little blue face paint was a cute Smurfette!

My daughter wanted to be Smurfette for Halloween this year. I didn't want to spend too much on a costume that she would really only wear once. She is 4 but on the small size so I got the 2-4 t size. Really it was a little too small for her, but it worked for the couple of times she needed to wear it.. for her Halloween parade at school and to trick or treat in. I'd order a bigger size next time.
