Wonderworld Wonder Sensory Blocks

The product description and picture today, 9 October 2012, is the same as it was when I purchased this toy from Amazon. Do not rely on the product description, it is not correct. Because of this I'm starting my review with an accurate description of what you actually get.

This set includes nine diamond shaped blocks and one plank block. There are three primary colored blocks with a circle cut out of the center and piece of clear colored plastic placed over one side. If you look through these blocks they will tint everything, and if you place two together and look through them you will see the correct secondary color tint. There are four natural colored blocks which have an indented circle on one side, three have a touch element and one has a mirror. The plank has four indented circles with matching touch elements / mirror. There are two sound blocks, one orange, one green.

I bought these for my son when he was 14 months, the touch elements, which all feel pretty much the same and would only be interesting to a baby who's never felt any sort of fabric, are already way to young for him, however, the addition of the plank will allow for matching when he's older. The green sound block works okay and my son likes it, but would enjoy it more if there was more sound. The orange sound block works technically speaking, but in terms of being played with by a baby it does not work at all. The three primary colored blocks work as they should, but could be easily improved on. Right now the hollowed middle is fascinating to my son and the ability to see things in the different colors will be fascinating as he gets older. As "sensory" blocks these are a failure. If you're looking for a good set of sensory blocks keep looking. As a good starter set of blocks with a few sensory elements these are wonderful. Because these are diamond shaped blocks there is more potential when it comes to building and much more learning and exploration than you can ever find with the traditionally shaped blocks, but without being frustrating. The wood is smooth and durable and my son loves to build with these.

We LOVE these blocks! They were purchased for my 12 month old and I can see getting years of use out of these. They are very well made, come in a little bag, and have lots to explore! I love the color blocks, it is so simple to teach primary and secondary colors with these. There are lots of things to touch and match, as well as shakers to play with. A wonderful purchase!

I decided to get these for my 2 year old nephew for Christmas. When I received the box it was small and I was worried that maybe I wasted my money. When I opened the box the blocks are somewhat small but they are exactly like the picture. Different textures and colors. My nephew enjoys playing with them and stacking them up. My sister-in-law was very satisfied with them! So all in all an educational toy that your little will enjoy!

I bought this toy for my 5 year old autistic son who found one (a red themed one) in the Center for Autism and fell in love with it. When my son was a baby, toys like this didn't catch his attention. He was always interested in dangerous things (shinny metal objects, tools, etc). He is just beginning to see the beauty in these toys and he is very attached to it. So far is not broken yet and I got it about 2 months ago.

Giimmo Magic Light

I bought this for our son when he was two (now 4), when we put him in a "big boy bed". He was very excited when we got it. He loved hitting it on the head to make it turn on and off. The colors transitioned as they were suppose to. I was dissapointed in the product though.

1) It is very hard. I was expecting a softer product. It almost feels like porcelin.

2)You have to hit it VERY hard and it hurts a grown ups hand

3)It is way too bright! Not a soft sleeping light. It is very bright and almost over stimulating.

4)If not plugged in and left with the child all night the battery dies around 3 or 4 am. It stays on red for a while and then dies. I was woken up several times when this started happening

5)After the first week the fuz on the arms was completely gone and peeling from the other places (legs, ears. ect.)My kids are generally very gentle on their toys, don't chew on things,ect. so I was very surprised

I did write the seller and they sent a new one and said we could keep the "deffective" one.

The new one we keep plugged in on a shelf so it stays on all night. We tapp the feet on the shelf to avoid smacking it with out hands.

Over all, for a child's night light which advertises it can be taken to bed with them I was expecting something more kid friendly. I should be softer, more durable, have a battery that lasts through the night, and should be dimmer for better sleeping.

So cute and fun for my daughter to play with before bed. It charges up with the included cord and the charge lasts for weeks with the our use. It has a small switch on the bottom to keep it from turning on randomly. It is motion sensitive so little bumps turn it on. The light is bright enough to use as night light but soft enough to not keep her awake. The colors change as well which is fun.

I purchased this Clothing Tree for my granddaughters because it matched their room decor. I was very pleased with its quality and appearance and it was easily assembled. Wonderworld Twistable Stuffed Animal

Regular cotton is one of the most pesticide dosed materials in the world, the filler is a petroleum based polyester and I am supposed to let my 8 month old child chew on this toy? I might as well give my son some Roundup & petroleum to suck on. It amazes me that this company represents itself as a natural and safe toy company. I guess wonderworld is counting on the ignorance of their customers so they can sell this kind of garbage to their children.

Bought the Raffy for my 4-month-old daughter, who fell in love with it the minute I gave it to her. Overall it is an excellent product: The colors are nice and bright, and the size of the Raffy's neck and legs is perfect for my daughter's little hands to grab.

I marked down one star because I constantly find some fiber threads on this toy, which seems to come from its inside content. Also, the wool representing the Raffy's hair is another source of loose fiber. For babies who want to have a taste of everything, this is definitely a problem. I have to carefully examine and clean the toy every time before hand it to my daughter.

We bought this for our 10 month old and this is another product we wish that we would have bought much earlier. We've twisted it onto the side of his crib and he untwists it and pulls it down to play with. The legs and neck all bend and twist. This is such a sweet toy and it's perfect for any little person 0-2 years. My two year old takes turns and plays with it. A definite must have!

I am throwing my daughter a hot air balloon themed birthday party for her first birthday, and I'm building a miniature hot air balloon for her to sit in and have her pictures made. I bought this hat for her to wear in some of her pictures, and I figured she could also wear it in the winter to keep her head warm. I will list the pros and cons:

Pros:

1. The hat is true to size, which means it can fit a one year old's head or the head of a bigger kid.

2. The hat is well-made and very soft, inside and out. It will also be very warm for winter days.

3. The picture only shows the ear flaps hanging down, but the right ear flap can actually wrap under the chin and button to the other ear flap to create that true pilot look, which will also keep the hat secure on the head and keep the chin warm. There are two size adjustments for this, too.

Cons:

1. The goggles are not the same as the ones in the picture. The ones in the photo are more rectangular shaped, and they look thicker and more padded, and whatever they're made out of looks softer and different than the ones I received. My goggles are oval-shaped, and they look like they're made out of a crappy pleather. The stitching on them isn't the best either. The goggles in the photo also have a bigger nose piece than mine do. My nose piece is literally only a few millimeters wide.

2. The goggles go around the back of the hat with an elastic band (like the one in the photo) and there is a small flap in the back that goes over them, to hold them in place. On this flap is a button. I was happy about this, because I thought the goggles could detach, but then I realized that the button is not functional, so basically the goggles are attached permanently to the hat. I wish I could detach them for wearing, and I'm unsure how I'm supposed to wash the hat if I can't detach the goggles, which are sure to tear up in the washer. I guess I'll have to hand wash it and be very careful with the goggles, especially considering how easily the lenses scratch. The goggles can be pulled down some to go over the eyes, but not in the way that they could if they actually detached; instead they come down at an awkward angle.

3. This hat is made in China and the tag with the care instructions is written in Chinese symbols, so I can't even read anything about it. The only thing written in English is the part that says "made in China".

4. The color of the hat and goggles is also different than the one in the picture. The seller photo shows a lighter brown hat with darker brown goggles. My hat is a chocolate brown with goggles that are the same color.

This hat is so cute! It's very good quality and keeps my babies head warm. Every time my 13 month old wears it we get tons of compliments.

So many big expensive gifts were given to my 2 year old on his birthday, but this was by far his favorite! The goggles actually pull down over his eyes, while staying attached. He is very rough on toys, but this is holding up well, he wears it all around the houses. I am absolutely delighted by it, it has made for some darling pictures!

Kushies Pupa Build and Stick Musical Caterpillar

I LOVED the idea of the pupa it even comes with color coded dots to show you how to play a few simple songs, but was sorely disappointed when we received it in the mail. Within 3 days 3 of the balls had stopped working (one had gotten stuck on the tone and I had to slam it down to get it to stop) and one had changed tones. Plus the balls got lost all over the house once my baby started playing with them. I will say, however, that Kushies' customer service is INCREDIBLE. Within 24 hours of filing my complaint I had an answer and they are sending me a new toy for free. I chose a different one, obviously, but have not yet received it. I would def buy from them again because of my cust serv experience. She said it was VERY rare that almost all the balls stopped working, so maybe I got a super dud and others are great. Good luck!

What a great idea! This is one toy that my 8 month old daughter and I both enjoy. Each ball has a different tone do, re, me, fa, so, la, ti, do. I play twinkle twinkle and other tunes. However...the 'do' ball was broken when it arrived. Although returned and working, for $60 this toy should be more durable.

The Snowman: Light-up Pullstring Musical by Kids Preferred

The actual toy is not as pictured. There is a huge--and rather ugly--blue star on the snowman's head (bigger than the snowman itself!). It is the star, rather than the snowman, that lights up and plays music. There is no pull-string on the snowman; it's rather the tether connecting the star to the snowman's head that activates the music/lights.

As a result, kids cannot really cuddle with this and, based on other toys with the same design, it probably won't be as durable as toys with a regular pull-string. Hard to say though: we're just going to give it away since it's not at all what we wanted.

Buyer beware.

This toy may not be the classiest, or most educational but if you have seen the Snowman movie with it's hauntingly beautiful theme song, you will love this toy. Yes, the snowflake is clunky, but it has a music box inside it and couldn't be functional if it was delicate and beautiful. The cord doesn't pull out very far, so it seem safe for a child to manipulate, but I will hang mine in the nursery in the winter and use it more like a mobile.

Octopus Rattle - Deep Green

I LOVE this rattle. My 5 month old son is teething, so he is drooling like crazy. I have purchased many plastic/rubber teething toys that he does like, but they make him drool more, so his clothes get soaked and the teether gets soaked. I bought this rattle hoping he would like it, and he does!! Each leg fits perfectly in his mouth and are the perfect size for his little hands to grab. It does and excellent job of soaking up the drool. This is the perfect teether for when you are out and about and don't want to have to put a bib on your drooly baby. It also is way cuter that then picture. They are hand-made and it shows, the quality is excellent, and the fabric is a soft cotton and the colors are great. I highly recommend.

My little boy is teething (no teeth yet) so his gums hurt. He hates chewing on anything hard. The tentacles on this knit octopus were the perfect alternative. The ribbing of the knit must feel great because he always has it in his mouth. I feel good about it too because I know it's fair trade certified.

I bought this rattle for my 3 month old daughter. She is getting pretty good at grabbing stuff, but this rattle proved to be too heavy for her. It's really well made and I think it's cool its made from recycled plastic and sawdust, but I don't know if she will still be so interested in it by the time she can wave it around well.

not sure what exactly the appeal is, maybe it's the rings in the middle, the slightly indentable rubber center, the fact that there's a giant hole, i have no idea, he has much more complex rattles, with colors and beads, but this one is easily his favorite. he will hold it and shake it and carry it around and stare at it and turn it around in his hands for a long time. i bought it before he was born and he's 9 months now and it's still his favorite rattle.

I bought this as a stocking stuffer for my 11 month old. I think I may have waited a little too long to get this for him though...he probably would have found it more entertaining when he was a little younger. But, it is a very well made rattle! I love how clean and simple it is...it looks cool, it sounds nice, isn't annoying and cheap like so many rattles out there! MINI-NEST BALL POOL

This is a wonderful little ball pit for young children. I am a daycare provider and I rotate my bigger toys monthly. The children are always thrilled when this one comes out. They have been having so much fun with it I have kept it out longer than usual. The only issue is there are not enough balls. I bought a package of extras at another store and added them to make the ball pit just right. I love simple toys with lots of play value. This fits the bill perfectly!

Little Tikes Gas 'n Go Mower

My son is going to be 5 and we did the annual Birthday Club trip to Toys R Us this evening.

He has a lot of toys, and really doesn't need anymore, but we go to TRU because it's so fun watching him on his birthday with the hat and balloon walking around the store for the perfect birthday toy.

He and his dad got separated from me in the store, so as I was walking around looking for something that may catch his fancy, I glanced over and spotted this mower up on the shelf. It was the last one on the shelf. I also noticed it was on sale for $19.99 plus the $3 off card for his birthday. Not too bad of a price. So I was looking at it in the box, saw it had a pull cord, and a gas can. Two things he WISHED his other Little Tikes lawn mower and the FP Bubble mower had. I saw the box said 18 mos + I was wondering how small the handle would be, but I put it in the cart anyway.

When I finally found them in the store, my son saw it in the cart and that was it, he thought it was the coolest toy lawn mower he has ever seen!! He could not wait to get it home and open it.

He absolutely loves it! He loves the realistic pull cord with engine sounds and gas can. He is "mowing" my carpet. In the house, it's kind of loud, with the popping sound and wheel sounds. He's a tall boy for his age, but it's not too short of a handle for him. And even if he had to slouch down a little bit, I don't think he would care one bit. He loves any toy that is lawn care or motorized related. So this is as realistic as it gets as far as toy mowers. Best of all, NO BATTERIES!!

I bought this mower for my 19 month old son. He actually loves it, and I really like the way it looks. However.... there is not enough clearance from wheels to underside of mower to actually be able to push it on the grass!! My toddler tried and tried and tried to push it on our back yard lawn and it just gets stuck, gets stuck, gets stuck. He kept asking me for help. So then I tried and EVEN I could not make it go on the grass. A great toy if you plan to use it indoors on hard surfaces or carpet. NOT a good toy for grass. DUHHHHH. It's a lawnmower!

My 15 month old granddaughter LOVES this mower. The "pull start" rope is easy to pull, slips back into the mower by itself and creates the most wonderful motor noises sounds like a real motor. I don't think she understands what the gas can is for, but she imitates "pouring the gas in" just like her dad's. She drags the mower wherever she wants, indoors and out. I'm not sure if her grass is lower or thinner than the other reviewer's, but she has no problem pulling it around. (She doesn't push much yet)

This probably would be fine for outdoor use, but indoors it is almost intolerably loud. It's sturdy and my 2 year old enjoys it well enough, but be sure you have an incredibly high noise tolerance if you purchase this for your child. We can't use indoors at all on account of the noise.

Hoppop Triplo Bath Toys

Directs water for rinsing soapy hair for tub bathers, so I find them to be useful. Stacking and drain holes make them easy to store. Dishwasher safe so I can clean them easily. Just not very interesting as a toy, the lids don't stay on well and it frustrates my toddler.

the cups stack and grandaughter loves pouring from one another. A little disappointed at how the lids don't easily snap on. But she actually pours the water through the lids.

BRIO Magnetic Blocks

We got these for our 20 month old. The magnets were too weak. It was like getting regular blocks without magnets. Also, the magnets were only on 2 sides of each piece. So on a six-sided cube, only 2 sides had magnets and only one of those sides would attract with one side on another block, and the magnets were so weak, sometimes I couldn't tell if they were supposed to be repelling or attracting. This made it annoying to try to find the magnetic sides unless you looked at each surface of each block really closely. Plus, because our child didn't get that they were magnets (she has other magnetic toys she likes to play with) she just whacked the blocks together and the paint chipped off of a couple of the blocks. Within 5 minutes of having opened the package, I put the blocks back into the box and stuck them into the pile for stuff to go to good will. I would return them, but technically they are damaged now. I would give one star for this product, but I decided to give two because the concept was good.

I purchased the magnetic stacking blocks about 1 1/2 years ago for my child (now 2 1/2). I loved the idea of children having beginning blocks that could actually stick together and not immediately fall down. These are very well made. Because they are magnetic with one side "positive"/ one side "negative", I put a tiny permanent marker dot on the positive side of all the blocks. My daughter immediately picked up on this (at 12 months, they are more observant that we think sometimes) and that did the trick. She knew how to stick them together. They stick together well enough on the floor but if picked up too vigorously, or with too many stuck togetherthey come apartlots of fun for the child as well. Her main issue was that there were not enough blocks to really feel like she could build something as she gets older so I bought a second set and the train. It works great for us.

If you have an older child, the discovery of how the magnets repel or attract will be interesting, but if they are younger most likely just frustrating so I suggest the dot idea. It is a safe beginning magnet set because there is no way the child can access the magnetit is inside the shapes. Be sure to check out the train based on the same ideait might be a better fit for you or a good addition.

I got these blocks for my son about four years ago, and they have spent the majority of the time being "trash" in the back of his toy garbage truck, not used as blocks. The magnets aren't very strong, and are only on two sides of the six-sided square blocks. The round blocks are useless, except for tripping over. Also, there aren't enough blocks to build much of anything. I generally love Brio products, but recommend going with another product unless you are using these for a baby or very young toddler. I prefer to get something that will be useful for a longer time.

Organic Baby Blue Puppy Crinkler Toy

We happened upon this toy at my son's hospital gift shop. It was one of the very first toys we purchased for our son, who was born premature and weighed less than 2 pounds. Though he didn't start playing with it until he was 3 months old, it became his favorite toy. So much so that the crinkly paper inside wore out, thus necessitating the purchase of a second one from amazon. Now my son is a drooler, big time. And no doubt this toy got its fair share of drool lathered upon it. But we have only had the second toy for a month or so and the crinkle noise is already beginning to fade. We have bought other crinkly toys and for much less money that show no sign of fading, but for some reason my son likes this one above all. It is very soft and easily handled by his little fingers and hands. Overall, how can I really complain when my son will crawl across the floor to get his hands on his crinkly dog (we thought it was a fish until we went to buy the second one)?
