Selecta Turnello Toy
Initially I believed it was too challenging for my 23 month old, and wrote a review stating such. It brought her a lot of annoyance and frustration for a time, after having been ignored for the first couple of weeks post Christmas. My initial gripe was that when you screw the individual pieces on, they are really difficult to line up with one another to make the cute formations pictured. Instead the end point where each piece fits tightly up against the one before it leaves the pieces all helter skelter at different angles. This can be remedied by unscrewing all the pieces a bit and re-screwing them back, while holding them all in correctly aligned positions. You have to have big (adult) hands to do this. I played with this toy myself a number of times before I stumbled onto this solution for making them line up correctly; initially I'd thought it was impossible, which is why I kept playing around with it.
In any case, in the past couple of weeks, my 23-month old has learned to screw each piece on, with only minimal difficulty. She actually LOVES this toy. She says he's 'naked' when all his pieces have been removed and proceeds to 'dress' him with the individual pieces. It turns out that she just doesn't care that it's beyond her skill level to line the pieces up correctly. Mouse can totally have frumpy clothes so long as she gets to dress him herself.
So, bottom line, I jumped the gun on poorly reviewing this toy, but sadly Amazon doesn't allow one to up start ratings if you rethink a review. I'd give this guy about a 4.5 in light of my daughter's intense interest in this toy.

VTech Sit-to-Stand Alphabet Train
Here is a video that I shot of both of my kids (12 months and 3 years) with the Sit-to-Stand Alphabet Train(tm). As you can see, both age groups love it!
The Sit to Stand Alphabet Train was very easy to put together and holds up very nice. I have a 3 year old and he has been caught playing `run away train' from his sister, so the train itself holds up very nicely. He loves to sit there with his sister and put in alphabet blocks that the train recognizes the colors, letters and images that are on each block. When you put in a red letter "Y" block, it will tell you that it is a letter "Y" and asks you to find the "yo-yo", in which you turn the block around. I think this is a fantastic learning tool for infants, as well as toddlers. Kambry is in her first stages of walking, so this is perfect for letting her get a grip on her balance and learn to move those toes with a push toy.
I look forward to many more fun leaning adventures with my kids, and with VTech Kids' Sit-to-Stand Alphabet Train(tm). Not sure what toy the other reviewers were playing with, but we returned an activity table and bought this instead for our 8-month-old learning-to-pull-herself-up girl. We like that it will evolve as she grows:
1.She can sit and play with it (she likes to turn the book's pages which tell her the different letters on them) or chew on the 26 blocks that come with
2.She trys to pull up and press the musical buttons or elephant which plays songs.
3.We can tell she will learn to take some steps with it, and later she can ride on it.
The blocks can be used in different ways, as blocks with letters and pictures to indentify, you can place them in the slot on top which counts them and they land into the 2nd car, or you put them in the holes which then say the name of the letter and a word that starts with that letter. Sometimes it asks you to find a specific letter block which she won't learn until later, but it should be fun then.
We were looking for a toy for pulling up and cruising, so cool to have found one that does more. As far as the price goes it cost less than the Chicco Talking Garden Table we bought and returned.
I will say this, though, the songs get stuck in your head and you find yourself humming some silly song as you go about your day but this certainly isn't the first muscial toy to do that.

****NEWEST UPDATE 10/6/2011****This is in reply to the few ladies who feel the need to leave negative comments for my post. The MAIN reason for my post was so that parents could hear what happened to my daughter and either not buy this toy or if they did that they can take precautions and unhook the train from the caboose if they aren't going to be right beside them. My daughter DID get her neck stuck between the 2 parts...the train gets attached by a rubber connector so when my daughter fell the way that she did the train seperated further apart and she fell perfectly so that her neck was against the front of the train and when her weight went down as she fell the gap in the train tightened ON her neck...so reguardless of what any of the negative comments say, she COULD have gotten strangled. Just because a product is still on the market doesn't mean that it is safe and just because a lot of people havn't ran into a problem doesn't mean there won't be one. Look how long it took drop side cribs to get outlawed, most babies didn't have a problem in them but lots of them did. There is nothing wrong with being cautious when it comes to the safety of a baby/child and if my post can help keep even 1 kid from getting injured then that was a success. And also, if someone is being strangled, they can't breathe so they won't be crying or whining for someone to come help them...in reply to the latest comment.****OLDER UPDATE IS AT THE BOTTOM********
My daughters received this for their 1st Birthday and have liked it since they first layed eyes on it. I'll explain the FUN features after I explain the DANGER.
My daughter Madison, who is the smaller of my twins(3-6 months clothes though she is 1) was playing with the train. There was a block on the other side so she leaned over to get the block but she slipped and her neck went between the front and back of the train(where they connect)!! Thankfully I was sitting right there and immediatly pulled her out but she would NOT have been able to get her self out. This is the same flaw that the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Chair had, there was a gap that a child could get their neck stuck between the chair & table..if you have the older style with that flaw they will send you a new piece to cover the gap, taking away the entrapment/strangulation hazard.
I did email Vtech about this but have not gotten any response. If you already have this toy I recommend ALWAYS keeping the train seperated from the seat unless an adult is right there with them. If you are thinking about buying this train, I'd skip it and buy something else until the gap is fixed...IF they fix it. Hopefully they will address the problem before a child is injured or killed.
As far as fun, my girls really enjoy this. They love turning the pages of the book, love pulling the blocks out once I put them in and just playing with the blocks by themselves. Their favorite thing is for me to pull/push them around while they sit on the train.
I do think this toy is probably more educational for children over 1 year. At one year they can't put the blocks into the side(at least my girls cant). There are little games that tell you to flip the block over to find what is on the other side or he tells you to find the letter 'P' and put it in the side. So 1 year olds have no idea what he is saying.
If you are looking for a toy for a 1 year old, I would recommend getting something else. My girls do like this but they'll gladly skip this & go for their Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Home or Leapfrog Learning Table, they spend way more time playing with those. If you are looking for a Sit to Stand toy, I don't think this is sturdy enough, my girls can go from sitting to standing w/out a problem but if they hold onto this it will normally tip right over. They do like the walker part of the train and are almost walking but when the train is used as a walker it is NOT very stable/sturdy and this will tip/fall either left or right & so will my girls...they fall more with it than if they were trying to walk w/out anything.
***************UPDATE**************
My girls are now 14 months old, both of them can walk, one of them slowly/cautiously & the other is a pro. Both of them still enjoy walkers but if they use the train part of this like a walker both of them will fall down since it is so unstable. They can walk across the room just fine without falling on their own but with this they fall. Right now the only things my girls like about this are the blocks-they like all blocks and sometimes they like turning the pages in the book. This is something they just do not play with much at all. I am putting this away(except the blocks) and will get it out again when my girls turn 2 and I'll see if they like it better then. I definately think there are better options for toys if you are buying for a 1 year old, I wouldnt recommend this unless the child is at least 2, maybe more but I still think there are better options than this. If you are set of getting a train type of toy then get the leapfrog alphabet train, that is much better for a 1 year old. The walker part is sturdy, it rolls easier when riding, has more age appropriate toys on it for 1 year olds & it has more toys on it. It also doesn't have a strangulation hazard. Both my girls love it, my 2 year old niece loved it & my 5 year old niece loved it.
The Vtech is hard to roll-if you are wanting an easy to ride/roll toy then I recommend the Fisher Price Ride Ons-my girls have the Fisher Price Lil'Princess Ride On and I also recommend the Little Tikes Ride On. These are ride on toys only-not learning toys. The Leapfrog is easier to roll than the Vtech but still not as easy as the Fisher Price Ride On or Little Tikes. My girls love riding things or being pushed around so it is better to have a basic ride on toy for that.

This toy is marketed as being a "sit-to-stand" product for kids as young as 12 months. It is supposed to be usable as a walker with just the locomotive portion of the train, with an attachable "car" that functions as a seat to be ridden by an older child. The locomotive is extremely tall and narrow, making it dangerously unstable for little ones. When my toddler attempts to pull himself up on this train, it has caused injuries. From the side, the narrow wheel base coupled with the height make this too tippy (think tall SUVs). Either it tips over toward him, causing him to fall backward and landing the train on top of him, or it tips to the other side with him falling over it.
If he approaches it from the handle side (and it is supposed to be usable as a walker), pretty much 100% of the time he grabs the handles and begins to apply weight, the front of the train flies up off the ground while the back wheels fly forward, and the train smacks him in the face.
We'd have taken it back if it weren't such an expensive gift from the grandparents. As it is, our son has to be supervised with it at all times to ensure that he doesn't get hurt. Adding the second "car" with the seat helps with stability (though not entirely), but that renders this useless as a walker for young toddlers.
As far as the annoyance factor, there's no volume control and this thing will not shut up. Just this annoying, circus-like music that plays constantly.
My young toddler has zero interest in putting the alphabet tiles onto the sides of the train (incidentally, it tends to tip over when a toddler is trying to push hard enough to get these tiles into place, kids this age aren't very coordinated and can be very forceful). So, really all he does is push the tiles into the top of the train and watch them shoot out the back.
Definitely not a safe or educational toy for kids as young as 12 months. I personally wouldn't think of using this before 2 years. It is not a stable toy for a baby/toddler learning to stand and walk, it is too narrow and tall as most reviewers said.

Mini Steps - Magical Music Cube
Would buy it again....
Buy Mini Steps - Magical Music Cube Now
My 2 children have both loved this entertaining cube. It is good for ages 6 months to a year.Thought this block was cute, but it has some faults! I would not have bought it had I been able to test it out personally. It's not very musical, only one nursery rhyme and some sounds. It would easily become boring. Also, to replace the batteries is somewhat difficult.Sunday, July 13, 2014
Fisher-Price Little People Disney Princess: Ariel's Coach
Notes -
When you press Sebastian you get a variety of sound effect, and the occasional playing of the song "Under the Sea"
The carriage/coach has spots for both Ariel and Eric, but unfortunately, they do not fit snugly in their seats. So when they go on rides in their coach they have a tendency to fall out.
I worry about the long-term durability of the coach. It seems like the connection between the coach and the seahorse is weak and could snap.
When placed in the Princess Palace Ariel is fully interactive and has 5 or 6 saying. Eric on the other hand, only plays the dance music (and for what it is worth.... just like beast)...nothing more or nothing else.
The wheel on the sea horse is not perfectly round (on purpose) so that it gives the impression that seahorse is swimming through the water.
Batteries are included and it does not require any assembly.
Final Verdict A nice accessory to the Disney Princess Palace, but it certainly does not offer the same long-term as the castle. I would certainly recommend it to fans of "The Little Mermaid", but for others you may find that Ariel and Eric get played with more than the Carriage/Coach.
3 1/2 StarsNot the most "fun" of toys for the money when it comes to little people toys. I would rate it okay. Wish it played more than the 4 short tidbits that it does. My daughter just keeps hitting the button to listen to the same little segment over and over so I just wish that was a little longer. These little people do not have the same shape as the other little people and fall out of the coach all the time.
UPDATE Jan 21, 2013:
My daughter loves to play with Ariel and Eric but really only with the princess palace. I understand the reasoning behind why the bottoms are the way they are but she doesn't really play with the coach at all because the figures constantly fall out. I'll keep it at 3 stars though because they are pretty cool to put in the palace. :)

My daughter in nearing 4 and very interested in the Disney princesses. That said, I am not sure the age span for this as noted "5yrs"...Little people products are very durable and have held up nicely in the past, but do seem a little for younger children. That said, my daughter is more interested in the "character" aspect of Ariel and Eric than anything. She'll play with this for a good amount of time.Read Best Reviews of Fisher-Price Little People Disney Princess: Ariel's Coach Here

We have the Princess Castle and I thought my child would enjoy this coach since she LOVES Ariel. The person who designed this obviously didn't ever play with it. These Little People have a different bottom than regular Little People. The place where Ariel and Eric sit do not hold them into place. If you try to make the coach drive around with them, they come flying out. If you have other Little People, they will stay in it, but that is hardly the point.Oh, and you might want to know that the Ariel that comes with it does work with the castle, but it says the same thing as the other Ariel wearing the pink dress. I actually found this on the Walmart website and only paid $10. It really isn't worth much more than that.

Green Lantern Child
We also picked up the Green Lantern Flashing Ring to complete the costume. He's tried the costume out and is excited for Halloween.
UPDATE: The costume worked out fantastic! An added bonus is that the long sleeves and the muscle build kept our son warm during the Halloween trick or treating, too.

Sticker book: Justice League: Ultimate Sticker Book
T-shirt: Green Lantern Logo T-ShirtI bought this for my son because he loves Green Lantern and wanted to be him for Halloween. He was absolutely thrilled when it arrived. It was a surprise! There were only 2 issues that were brought up. One was the choice of hue of green. It should have been a much darker green. The costume itself is what we were expecting. However, there should have been velcro all the way down the back, otherwise it just sits wide open. My son enjoyed his Halloween immensely!I am very disappointed with this costume. It is a drab sea foam green instead of a vibrant kelly green. I didn't expect much durability based on the price but it is poorly made and just overall not satisfactory. My son still wants it but I think I will find something better and donate this one since returns are a pain. This costume is poor quality even when compared to the typical cheaply made costume. Contrary to the picture, the costume does not have the faux boots, it has green material on the legs ending at the ankles and that's it. The patch on the center is sewn on by a few stitches in the center and so it flops around everywhere. The stitching that holds the color on is loose and black, so that the stitches show very visibly all around the collar. The neck where the only closure is is impossibly tiny and doesn't fit around my 2 year old's neck, let alone the 5 year old for whom the costume is intended, yet the back directly under the collar closure gapes open so that a huge v shape isn't covered. We ordered this costume for our 4 year old and were very disappointed. The fabric was flimsy, the insignia on the front was affixed sideways, and the velcro in the back did not even line up to close properly. The merchant provided a refund; however, we are still searching for decent boy's dress up clothes...

3 different noise making settings. Could be a bit more sensitive but my little guy liked it. Good toy for the price.I bought this cute little crib piano for my three month old daughter, she absolutely loved it, especially the animal setting. The colours are beautiful and she likes looking at the lights when the notes are pressed. The other modes are nice as well...I like that the product gives other musical options to entertain a baby. At first she was kicking the keys too high up and the notes were not playing, but I extended the straps and raised the piano higher and it worked pretty ok.My three month old absolutely loves this, there's two volume setting which is awesome for me. The only thing is sometimes she kicks too high and the buttons are at the bottom so the music wont play. Other than that so far so goodTuesday, June 24, 2014

I love this piggy bank. It looks just like the picture. It came with a write-on/wipe-off pen for personalization. I didn't ever touch the pen, so I don't even know if it worked. I thought the bank was cute as-is and didn't need any personalization. The colors really pop and the bank is a very good size. This piggy bank is adoreable in my daughters room however there is no blank space on the side of the pig to write her name. Also the marker is a dry erase marker so if you touch the name it easily wipes off.Want Pink and Green Polka dot Piggy Bank With Bow Adorable Nursery Decor And Gift Discount?

Wonderworld Hopping Bunny Walker
Buy Wonderworld Hopping Bunny Walker Now
Got this for Christmas for my then 8 month old. He didn't really touch it at first, but once he was pulling up on furniture and other things he became more interested in this. The first day he pulled up on this toy he was standing and holding on to the handles when he pulled the whole walker back onto him self and the wooden bar (with the handles attached) pulled right into his mouth and knocked one of his teeth loose. One emergency trip to the pediatric dentist later (and luckily no major damage) we don't use this toy as a walker any more. I would like it if it was weighted differently, and not so easy for little ones to pull over the wrong direction....our daughter insists on removing them, but she enjoys the walker nonetheless. She is 1 y.o., of average height, and it fits her well; I can see that it might be short for taller or older children. She has learned to maneuver it quite deftly and is able to speed around our apartment without getting hung up. A nice, sturdy wood product. The only negative is that the wood squeaks a bit when rolling, but we don't find this particularly bothersome. Recommended. My daughter loves this walker. The wheels can be tightened so she doesn't go flying, the bunnies are cute and my daughter loves playing with them. I didn't give this 5 stars because at 13 months, I still need to help my daughter maneuver over our hallway runner, I think the problem comes from the small wooden wheels and our own fault for the runners in our long hallway. Perfect height and I love that it's all natural.Monday, May 19, 2014

The toy is kind of cheap and did not last very long.if it is dropped breaks very easily. The good side is it did not cost muchLoved this top! Works wel, especially with little toddlers. Easy to use, and it's large base make it very stable. If you don't like noisy toys, this isn't the top for you!We use this as a sensory toy for a low functioning, severly austic young man. He derives much pleasure from this, and it keeps him entertained for long stretches of time.

I bought this toy for my grandson. His Mom loves these toys. When she handed it to him he took it right away and put it in his mouth. He is 6 months old. He really loves it and plays with it everyday!this is smaller than I expected. Too small that my 7 months son didn't even notice to pick it up. Also I think the middle area is too tight for his little fingers to get in between the ring and the cute little bee in the middle.Thursday, April 17, 2014
RockAbye Elijah Elephant Rocker -Kids
Our 12 months old (this was a 1st birthday present) sort of likes the toy especially the crinkly ears and the "ride along friend". It's a little large still for her to ride right now (and she's a tall 12 month old), so I'm not sure about the 9 months-3 years age range advertised. I hope she will grow into the toy more in a few months. Our daughter received this from her g-ma as a birthday gift. Its a cute toy. She didn't play with it much up until a few weeks ago. Now that she's 18 months old she lives on it. I guess the defect of the handles being misaligned is a common one from what I've read. Also the music box which is concealed with velcro just below the trunk is easily removed by curious toddlers, exposing wires that aren't protected. Close supervision with this toy is necessary.
Buy RockAbye Elijah Elephant Rocker -Kids Now
I purchased this for my 7 month old nephew. He's still a bit small for this to ride on his own, but we put him on and rock it for him. I love it and he seems to enjoy it as well. The toy seems to be very durable, is constructed well no complaints there. I love the little songs it plays, I think as my nephew gets older these can have a learning value (plays an alphabet, counting and color song as well as a fun "rocking" song)
The only tiny complaint I have is that I can't get the fabric to completely cover the song box in the front, it still gapes a bit. But we are working to slowly stretch the fabric, so hopefully it will be well concealed soon.
I think this is a great product and would definitely recommend. I'll be purchasing another for my new born niece for Christmas.

I purchased the pink elephant for my 10 month old daughter from another site, and my daughter was timid around it at first. It's the biggest toy she's owned so far, so I wasn't surprised. We left it out in the room with her, and she warmed up to it after a few days. We'd take her over to it and have her touch it and crinkle the ears. She didn't enjoy sitting on it at first. She now loves it! She loves to sit on it and rock by herself. She loves to stand next to it and dance to the music. The music is very loud and annoying. It's hard to understand the words at first. But she just loves it so much that I can't bring myself to turn it off. You can only turn the music off completely you cannot turn it down. There's a box under the trunk to switch it off, but the speaker is up by the ear, and I'm pretty sure we can't get to it to muffle the volume. Overall, I think it's a great, unique toy, and I'm glad I got it for my daughter, because she loves music and now loves to rock on it. She's large for her age, and she fits well on it. She's about 22-23 pounds and 30 inches tall right now, if that helps you determine what size this toy is good for. I'm sure she'll love this toy for a while though!Want RockAbye Elijah Elephant Rocker -Kids Discount?
We bought this for our niece when she was 18mo old and it was a huge hit. For a while, it was the only thing that kept her occupied for decent stretches of time so that my sister-in-law could cook, etc... uninterrupted. We didn't see any of the construction issues with the rocker that are commonly mentioned in other reviews... Maybe we got lucky?I will say that I am VERY glad we don't live with this thing, though, because my niece loves the songs on it and they are brutal... The numbers, rocking and colors songs are annoying, but tolerable. However, the ABC song drives me nuts! It couldn't possibly be called educational, because it's NOT the proper/common ABC song and it has lyrics between groups of letters, which is simply not helpful in teaching a child the alphabet (there's a reason the normal ABC song we all know goes straight through the letters without any extra crap in between). I would highly recommend that parents put in the batteries, listen to the songs, and decide if they want to hear them over and over and over before giving this to a child. After all, a kid can't miss something he/she doesn't know about. No batteries = no songs. Less fun for the toddler, for sure, but so much easier on adult ears.
In any case, my sister-in-law doesn't seem to mind the tedious songs and, again, our niece loves this rocker, so 4 stars.

Nala Classic Costume
SIZE: Extremely forgiving! I got this for a girl that normally can wear almost a 2T in upper body (very skinny) but the length of the arms would be too short. She's also very tall and this worked out wonderfully. She had enough length and surprisingly it didn't look too baggy either. I wouldn't be concerned about width if your child weighs more..there was plenty of extra room I was just quite surprised to find that it didn't swallow her up.Granted, my daughter wore the costume about 10 times before Halloween, but the sowing around the neck area was poorly done and eventually separated. I was surprised that many people knew Nala before we said anything about the costume.

Boikido Wooden Giraffe Xylophone
Pros:
it's cute
it's reasonably priced
it is (or at least it looks) durable
decent hand-eye coordination toy
Cons:
the "antlers" really are too short. My 11-month-old's tuny hands barely fit around them in a way that she does not bang her hand against the thing every time she goes to tap it.
the notes are terribly flat. I'm not particularly musically inclined and I don't think it would bother me if they were a bit off but they sound exaclty like the pots and pans my kid likes to bang on (just softer). they are not "musical" at all.
doesn't stand up. the picture made me think that you'd be able to store it standing up but it falls over if you try to do that. It's off key (the orange, 3rd metal bar for the MI note, it sounds the same as the RE note); actually, both RE and MI sound dull compared to the rest of the notes.I know coz I play the guitar and tune by ear.Sad, coz the giraffe is cute.Another gripe about it that the hammers are too small. My daughter uses her drum sticks (plastic ones) because those are longer. She's tiny for 22 months and these are even smaller.I don't see this toy being played with past 2 years old because of the extremely short hammers(the giraffe's tufts in blue/purple).Sorry, Boikido, I'm not buying anything from this brand ever again.I rarely write bad reviews but I feel I have to be honest as I base my buying from reviews as well.Cute, but badly executed!

Small World Express Egg-Shape Sorter
The Hide N Squeak Eggs come in a really fun case, the shells intermix and young babies can connect them on the different eggs very easily. Even the eggs are cute, when you press them they squeak! It is difficult for my son to put the egg shapes in the right place in the egg carton, but not a big deal; he enjoys playing with the eggs while he's learning to master this skill.
The Express Egg Sorter has limited appeal and use. Really wouldn't buy these again. I definitely recommend the Hide N Squeak set.I'm puzzled by some of the other reviews...my child's experience with the egg sorter is completely different from those who report difficulty and frustration. A friend of mine gave it to my son when he was 2, and indicated that it was her daughter's favorite toy. My son found it equally entertaining. When other toys were cast aside permanently, it was one that he would go back to. Visiting friends were always attracted to it as well. When he at last outgrew it, I kept it in the very small collection of sure winners for visitors and potential grandchildren. Yes, there is a right way to put each egg together, and a right way to fit the egg in to the crate, but it is designed to promote pattern recognition and build dexterity. Challenge is good! I agree the handle is flimsy but it hasn't been a problem in the 13 years that we've had ours. Of course it only got daily use for about 2 years. I'm now buying another set for nephews who want their own!

Let me count the ways that this is a horrible toy:If you put an egg in the carton wrong end down it can get VERY stuck and what kid knows to put the skinny end down?
The case is flimsy plastic.
The carton says 18 months+ but it is a choking hazard for kids under 3...hmmm.
The "quote" on the side is supposedly by a 2 year old "With the Egg-Shape Sorter learning my shapes was over easy!" what 2 year old says that!!

Like the play value of the toy, and all three of the grandchildren seem to enjoy matching the shapes, but it is sometimes hard for my two year twin grandsons to get the eggs apart. The good thing is I think it they are getting easier to get apart as they are used more.We had these eggs 30 years ago when my children were babies, and I was so happy to see that they are still available for my grandchildren to play with. Perfect for kitchen play, these span a wide age range.Friday, February 14, 2014
Mary Meyer Baby Cheery Cheeks Rattle

This little puppy rattle is very cute and soft. Kind of "chubby" for little hands to hold, but none the less, I would recommend it. I bought it as part of many Christmas presents for my grandson who is just about 3 months old. It was the perfect size to tie to his sack of gifts. I haven't had the opportunity to see him with it yet though so I can't say if he loves it or not!Read Best Reviews of Mary Meyer Baby Cheery Cheeks Rattle Here
