I thought this would be super fun for my toddler and preschooler, but they never play with it at all. Also, it's really difficult to see anything happening inside (watch the beads fall, or see the plastic layers they fall through...) because the outer plastic is faceted and ghosted and hard to see through. So you can't even watch what's making the noise. Not really a good toy.

The balls don't even move down with enough force to spin the fan or the other objects. It's not like a kladioscope at all. Not worth it.

I don't understand all negative reviews by the other people on here. Our 2mo old son loves this thing. It's the only thing that will calm him done most of the time. I don't think he cares much about being able to see it as the sound it makes. This thing isn't really intended for any child over...maybe...6-ish months so why would you buy it for a two year old?? If you have a newborn, this thing is great. Don't give it a bad review because you bought it for an older child than it was intented for.

VTech Sit-to-Stand Alphabet Train

As a parent, I would rather get those toys at Christmas time that have use to them and that will be played with, but the most important thing to me is it's ability to help my kids learn and its durability. there are some gifts that are given to my kids that I dread seeing when I notice that they have noise. I think there are more people out there like me. Some toys out there are just too loud for my taste. I am very impressed with VTech's line of learning toys and games! I love that the sounds are fun, catchy and tend to keep my kids more in tune with the toy and with learning. With the Sit-to-Stand Alphabet Train(tm), the music and songs that it sings to your child, I often find myself singing along. Yes. I sing along to it. LOL! It almost has a circus theme to the tunes that it plays. Very fun!

Here is a video that I shot of both of my kids (12 months and 3 years) with the Sit-to-Stand Alphabet Train(tm). As you can see, both age groups love it!

The Sit to Stand Alphabet Train was very easy to put together and holds up very nice. I have a 3 year old and he has been caught playing `run away train' from his sister, so the train itself holds up very nicely. He loves to sit there with his sister and put in alphabet blocks that the train recognizes the colors, letters and images that are on each block. When you put in a red letter "Y" block, it will tell you that it is a letter "Y" and asks you to find the "yo-yo", in which you turn the block around. I think this is a fantastic learning tool for infants, as well as toddlers. Kambry is in her first stages of walking, so this is perfect for letting her get a grip on her balance and learn to move those toes with a push toy.

I look forward to many more fun leaning adventures with my kids, and with VTech Kids' Sit-to-Stand Alphabet Train(tm).

Not sure what toy the other reviewers were playing with, but we returned an activity table and bought this instead for our 8-month-old learning-to-pull-herself-up girl. We like that it will evolve as she grows:

1.She can sit and play with it (she likes to turn the book's pages which tell her the different letters on them) or chew on the 26 blocks that come with

2.She trys to pull up and press the musical buttons or elephant which plays songs.

3.We can tell she will learn to take some steps with it, and later she can ride on it.

The blocks can be used in different ways, as blocks with letters and pictures to indentify, you can place them in the slot on top which counts them and they land into the 2nd car, or you put them in the holes which then say the name of the letter and a word that starts with that letter. Sometimes it asks you to find a specific letter block which she won't learn until later, but it should be fun then.

We were looking for a toy for pulling up and cruising, so cool to have found one that does more. As far as the price goes it cost less than the Chicco Talking Garden Table we bought and returned.

I will say this, though, the songs get stuck in your head and you find yourself humming some silly song as you go about your day but this certainly isn't the first muscial toy to do that.

****NEWEST UPDATE 10/6/2011****This is in reply to the few ladies who feel the need to leave negative comments for my post. The MAIN reason for my post was so that parents could hear what happened to my daughter and either not buy this toy or if they did that they can take precautions and unhook the train from the caboose if they aren't going to be right beside them. My daughter DID get her neck stuck between the 2 parts...the train gets attached by a rubber connector so when my daughter fell the way that she did the train seperated further apart and she fell perfectly so that her neck was against the front of the train and when her weight went down as she fell the gap in the train tightened ON her neck...so reguardless of what any of the negative comments say, she COULD have gotten strangled. Just because a product is still on the market doesn't mean that it is safe and just because a lot of people havn't ran into a problem doesn't mean there won't be one. Look how long it took drop side cribs to get outlawed, most babies didn't have a problem in them but lots of them did. There is nothing wrong with being cautious when it comes to the safety of a baby/child and if my post can help keep even 1 kid from getting injured then that was a success. And also, if someone is being strangled, they can't breathe so they won't be crying or whining for someone to come help them...in reply to the latest comment.

****OLDER UPDATE IS AT THE BOTTOM********

My daughters received this for their 1st Birthday and have liked it since they first layed eyes on it. I'll explain the FUN features after I explain the DANGER.

My daughter Madison, who is the smaller of my twins(3-6 months clothes though she is 1) was playing with the train. There was a block on the other side so she leaned over to get the block but she slipped and her neck went between the front and back of the train(where they connect)!! Thankfully I was sitting right there and immediatly pulled her out but she would NOT have been able to get her self out. This is the same flaw that the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Chair had, there was a gap that a child could get their neck stuck between the chair & table..if you have the older style with that flaw they will send you a new piece to cover the gap, taking away the entrapment/strangulation hazard.

I did email Vtech about this but have not gotten any response. If you already have this toy I recommend ALWAYS keeping the train seperated from the seat unless an adult is right there with them. If you are thinking about buying this train, I'd skip it and buy something else until the gap is fixed...IF they fix it. Hopefully they will address the problem before a child is injured or killed.

As far as fun, my girls really enjoy this. They love turning the pages of the book, love pulling the blocks out once I put them in and just playing with the blocks by themselves. Their favorite thing is for me to pull/push them around while they sit on the train.

I do think this toy is probably more educational for children over 1 year. At one year they can't put the blocks into the side(at least my girls cant). There are little games that tell you to flip the block over to find what is on the other side or he tells you to find the letter 'P' and put it in the side. So 1 year olds have no idea what he is saying.

If you are looking for a toy for a 1 year old, I would recommend getting something else. My girls do like this but they'll gladly skip this & go for their Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Home or Leapfrog Learning Table, they spend way more time playing with those. If you are looking for a Sit to Stand toy, I don't think this is sturdy enough, my girls can go from sitting to standing w/out a problem but if they hold onto this it will normally tip right over. They do like the walker part of the train and are almost walking but when the train is used as a walker it is NOT very stable/sturdy and this will tip/fall either left or right & so will my girls...they fall more with it than if they were trying to walk w/out anything.

My girls are now 14 months old, both of them can walk, one of them slowly/cautiously & the other is a pro. Both of them still enjoy walkers but if they use the train part of this like a walker both of them will fall down since it is so unstable. They can walk across the room just fine without falling on their own but with this they fall. Right now the only things my girls like about this are the blocks-they like all blocks and sometimes they like turning the pages in the book. This is something they just do not play with much at all. I am putting this away(except the blocks) and will get it out again when my girls turn 2 and I'll see if they like it better then. I definately think there are better options for toys if you are buying for a 1 year old, I wouldnt recommend this unless the child is at least 2, maybe more but I still think there are better options than this. If you are set of getting a train type of toy then get the leapfrog alphabet train, that is much better for a 1 year old. The walker part is sturdy, it rolls easier when riding, has more age appropriate toys on it for 1 year olds & it has more toys on it. It also doesn't have a strangulation hazard. Both my girls love it, my 2 year old niece loved it & my 5 year old niece loved it.

The Vtech is hard to roll-if you are wanting an easy to ride/roll toy then I recommend the Fisher Price Ride Ons-my girls have the Fisher Price Lil'Princess Ride On and I also recommend the Little Tikes Ride On. These are ride on toys only-not learning toys. The Leapfrog is easier to roll than the Vtech but still not as easy as the Fisher Price Ride On or Little Tikes. My girls love riding things or being pushed around so it is better to have a basic ride on toy for that.

This toy is marketed as being a "sit-to-stand" product for kids as young as 12 months. It is supposed to be usable as a walker with just the locomotive portion of the train, with an attachable "car" that functions as a seat to be ridden by an older child.

The locomotive is extremely tall and narrow, making it dangerously unstable for little ones. When my toddler attempts to pull himself up on this train, it has caused injuries. From the side, the narrow wheel base coupled with the height make this too tippy (think tall SUVs). Either it tips over toward him, causing him to fall backward and landing the train on top of him, or it tips to the other side with him falling over it.

If he approaches it from the handle side (and it is supposed to be usable as a walker), pretty much 100% of the time he grabs the handles and begins to apply weight, the front of the train flies up off the ground while the back wheels fly forward, and the train smacks him in the face.

We'd have taken it back if it weren't such an expensive gift from the grandparents. As it is, our son has to be supervised with it at all times to ensure that he doesn't get hurt. Adding the second "car" with the seat helps with stability (though not entirely), but that renders this useless as a walker for young toddlers.

As far as the annoyance factor, there's no volume control and this thing will not shut up. Just this annoying, circus-like music that plays constantly.

My young toddler has zero interest in putting the alphabet tiles onto the sides of the train (incidentally, it tends to tip over when a toddler is trying to push hard enough to get these tiles into place, kids this age aren't very coordinated and can be very forceful). So, really all he does is push the tiles into the top of the train and watch them shoot out the back.

Definitely not a safe or educational toy for kids as young as 12 months. I personally wouldn't think of using this before 2 years.

Little People Floaty Boat

Bought the boat as a pool toy and now has moved to the tub.The boat has a hard time floating. Add one Little person and a bit of water, the boat will sink. My son still loves it and has played with it for a year. Longer than most other toys. I think the sinking thing bothers the parents more than the kids.

My 18 month old daughter was very excited when we brought this home, but it quickly became a least favorite toy. It is cute, but only floats if you don't touch it (silly me to think a water toy should be able to float). The flip cabin is a useless feature. The hook on the end is frustrating for little hands and most often used to tip over the boat. A poorly designed toy that gets little playtime in or out of the bath.

We also got ours from the Pampers promotion, and we really enjoy ours. I can't understand why everyone says it doesn't float, because I haven't had any problem with mine. However, if it gets very full of water it does tip. The boat is very cute, and the knob that is used to flip the deck is just right for little hands. I like the person, and the ring, the only thing I dislike is the fish that come with it. They seemed to "squash", and Hannah liked to put them in her mouth. If we hadn't received ours for free I would have bought it anyway. I think all the Fisher-Price things are well-made, so judge for yourself.

My Quiet Book, Fabric Activity Book for Children

We were in the market for a way for our 4 year old to practice buttoning, tieing, snapping, etc., in the car and at church. Although several of the reviews were concerned about the myriad of small parts that could be lost, we decided to take a chance. Perhaps the manufacturer has heard their complaints, as our version has all the pieces attached with strings, so nothing has gotten lost. Though I'm sure very young children could pull them off if they wanted to, it has stood up to our 2 and 4 yr. old boys beautifully!

I have mixed feelings about this product. My 20 month old daughter plays with it alot and seems to enjoy it. My complaint is that the snaps, buttons and shapes can all be removed (and lost and amazingly return) from the book. The plastic buckle on the buckle page was removed by my daughter within weeks. I've read reviews about how this book is great for the car and other types of travel. However, the pieces often fall to the floor of the car and most times cannot be retreived. The button page does not allow for both the button and button hole to be held, which doesn't emulate actual buttoning. The ballons that snap onto their page do not have any indication of where to line up or press the snap into place. I've already ordered another set of books where the pieces remain with the book.

This is one of the few self contained toys we have. Everything is attached! It travels well. I bought it for my daughter when she was 1 and she mostly undid everything. At 2, she's just now being able to work the buttons, snaps, etc. I had a homemade version as a kid and remembered that it got a lot of use. The only problem with this one was that some of the fabric pulled away from the stitching. Amazon replaced it before I had a chance to return the original.

This toy is durable! It has survived my 10 year old son's early childhood, and now has (so far) survived my 3 year old daughter's attacks. Both children love it, but as others have mentioned, some pieces are loose and it takes perserverence to keep it together. My cure is that I hide it except for trips to the doctors and other appointments. This makes it a "special" toy, and it is easier to keep track of the parts. Many bright pages of colors keep their interest, and though they love pulling out the snap-on pieces, they are difficult for little one's to snap on. The velcro balloons that are attached are my daughter's (and mine) favorite part. The buckle is too difficult for her, but she loves putting her hand in the glove and unzipping the lady-bug to find "baby" lady bugs. I feel the positives far outweigh the negatives and highly recommend this toy--after all, if she is not losing these pieces under the couch, she would be losing her barbie car keys, lego pieces, building blocks, lincoln logs (etc) under the couch.

K's Kids Inchworm

We received this "inchworm" for our baby girl just before she was born. When she was about 4 weeks old, I started bringing it out as a toy for her to follow and turn her head. She was entranced the bright colors and the great smile, she loved it. As she has grown she has become more intrigued with it pulling on the antennas to get them to rattle, hugging it and of course putting the little feet in her mouth. She still loves the smile and enjoys staring at it. She also likes the mirror on the back, but the face and antennas are her favorite.

I highly recommend this as a great first toy. Its simple and yet perfect for the first few months of your little one's life:) I'm really impressed with the quality of the product too.

I think my 3 1/2 year old and I love this more than our baby.

Got it for him when he was 3 months old. He is 9 months now and barely goes to it. At first it was possibly a nice thing to chew on, but he has other toys and objects that he prefers. The mirror quickly ruined. Its permanently fogged up. Not sure what happened there. The squeeky sound in the head is nearly impossible for my older son to manipulate with his small hands. It seems fun to wrestle...thats what I would do if it was my size. I will be passing this on in hopes some other baby will appreciate it more.

Crayola Beginnings Baby Pop and See

I was disappointed when this toy first arrived. I purchased it as a gift for my niece. It had obviously been opened and taped shut before it was sent to me. I returned it to Amazon. The next one arrived open as well. I sent it back and the item was then out of stock. I normally have great experiences with Amazon so this was very disappointing for me.

As far as the toy itself, I was pretty disappointed. I doesn't do as much as I thought it would. I thought the center of each piece would spin when connected, but the colors just become visible. Not that exciting!

my son (now 10months) hardly plays with these things. i thought they were cute and more interesting than the fisher price beads (which we have as well). though they are cute and well made, they don't hold his attention unless i am playing with them. i wish the beads also had different things inside. a few have balls which is neat the others have a piece of paper with colors on them (very boring). i also think this toy would be a lot more fun if you purchased a few sets of them. you can't really do anything with just 5. as where the fisher price toys you can make crowns etc. maybe they will be a fun toy to learn colors with someday. overall, it's a well made, pretty too look at, boring toy.

We bought these for my 1 year old. We gave them to her and for a day or two was playing with them, but now I just find them pushed aside while she is playing with her Fisher Price shape blocks. I would not recommend these at all, they are just kind of boring and she got bored with them faster than any of her other toys. I even showed her how to connect them and take apart. Also we showed her the little inside color band that appears inside it when you connect them. She just gave me a look of "boring!" The only thing she seemed interested in was chewing on the nub part on top that connects them together. I also bought the Crayola Beginnings Slide and See, and she isn't interested in that either. I am pretty disappointed in the Crayola toys.

Jellycat Bashful Lilac Hippo 12"

My daughter sleeps with one of these. We have two in fact, in case one gets messed up or goes missing. Soft, good toy.

Don't get me wrong, I love Jellycat's stuffed animals, the durability and softness is always excellent. I just expected this product to look like the picture, stuffed well. The one I got looked a bit lanky with thin arms and a thin body. Very cute and soft, but not what I expected. I'm returning it for a more substantial Jellycat.

Our baby girl is still a bit too young to enjoy this, but it appears to be excellently made of great quality.

I bought this rattle for my 3 month old daughter. She is getting pretty good at grabbing stuff, but this rattle proved to be too heavy for her. It's really well made and I think it's cool its made from recycled plastic and sawdust, but I don't know if she will still be so interested in it by the time she can wave it around well.

not sure what exactly the appeal is, maybe it's the rings in the middle, the slightly indentable rubber center, the fact that there's a giant hole, i have no idea, he has much more complex rattles, with colors and beads, but this one is easily his favorite. he will hold it and shake it and carry it around and stare at it and turn it around in his hands for a long time. i bought it before he was born and he's 9 months now and it's still his favorite rattle.

I bought this as a stocking stuffer for my 11 month old. I think I may have waited a little too long to get this for him though...he probably would have found it more entertaining when he was a little younger. But, it is a very well made rattle! Surprised at the other reviews regarding the suction cups & especially the one that says the monkey & music only work for 3 seconds. (That is ONLY true if you don't have the remote and only use the buttons on the side of the product. But if you have the remote you can control how long it is on and it's really nice to have the remote control since who wants to have to stop to turn it on)?

After using this for my 1st baby for close to a year, I found this product to be a savior when baby was fussy in the car. Generally I would keep it off unless he became fussy then the remote comes in handy to just click the button turn it on and instantly baby would have a nice distraction to entertain him & help him calm down until I could pull over to tend to whatever was making him fussy. It plays a few different tunes to keep baby interested too.

Also the way to keep the suction to hold is to first clean your windows (with windex or even better an alcohol wipe pad) then put a little just a couple drops of moisture on the suction cup itself before pressing it very firmly to the window and then moving the lever down to suction it. Yes it may come loose again eventually from opening & closing the door but I was able to get it to stay on for at least a month or so at a time typically.

The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that you do have to have the remote to make the thing stay on for more than 3 seconds. We lost our remote after about a year, and it eventually prompted me to just replace with regular shades I already had instead since there was no longer any music to distract/entertain baby when getting fussy. And he was getting big enough to almost reach the monkey & I was afraid he might pull it down.

I also agree with the review that it isn't the BEST shade out there for sun protection though I do think it provides a good amount. The shade is not huge but that actually worked better for me since we drove a smallish car (4 door sedan) not a big SUV for baby #1. But for baby #2 I'm actually planning on buying this product again to use in addition to the regular shades we already have which will provide a little better sun protection for the bigger windows we now have with our SUV. Not sure how I will hang both shades up at once yet but I think I can make it work.

Manhattan Toy Sort-A-Shape Fun Cube

The concept of this toy is awesome but I was really disappointed. The sides are completely flimsy so it does not hold its shape at all. It is also rather small. The velcro on the opening barely works. Not worth the money.

This best part of this toy is that there are lots of different surfaces for baby to feel, and it is soft and safe for a child. Calling it a shape sorter is a bit of a misnomer because the three different shaped blocks will easily fit through any of the holes. Not difficult to push the square through the triangle, etc. Our granddaughter liked the blocks themselves and played with them, but did not have much interest in the cube.

I bought this toy for my 5 month old daughter. I did not want to buy toys that light up and make noise. She's a little young to be able to put the blocks in the holes, but she still plays with it. I feel this is a toy she can grow into. Right now she can pick it up and hold it and chew on the pieces. She seems to really like it!

Strawberry Shortcake - Blueberry Muffin Deluxe Toddler / Child Costume

My daughter LOVES blueberry muffin!! We got this costume for Halloween and even though it is cute, it is very poorly made. the material is very thin and it tears easy at all the seams. I guess it works for a Halloween costume but it don't know how much play dress up time it will get after.

Purchased this itme and quickly discovered that it would last only one day. The material was not the best in the wrold and was easily ripped with no effort The sizes are difficult to match with your child and accessories were difficult ot keep on this outfit.
