My son (age 2) got this for Christmas and he LOVES it! He bounces on it, and rides is around. He'll sit on it to listen to stories, and lean on it when he's playing on the floor. Nothing he's done has caused the slightest blemish. His 6 and 7 year old cousins came to play, and even they couldn't put a dent in Nessie. The double hump is great for a single child, or for two. It's lightweight, too, so I don't worry about him tipping it over on himself. A great way to lose the indoor toy blues!

My 3 year old has lots of bath toys and these cute little guys were amongst the first. They are adorable and helped him learn to identify his animals. As a baby he loved to chew on the different shapes, and as he became a toddler he started enjoying squeezing water out. However, all those nooks and crannies inside (esp. Mr. Octopus) also tend to retain moisture and grow mold. Before long sticky dark mold would come out when it was squeezed (nasty, esp if your baby tries to squeeze into his mouth). You can do your best to rinse this out regularly, squish out all the water after every bath, or wash with some diluted dishwashing solution, but the gross factor remains...after this experience I'm sticking to bath toys that are completely sealed or easy to take apart and wash.

My son loves these so much I ordered a second set since he likes them for his bath and also to teethe. The crab is the clear favorite :)

We've used this toy to keep our baby entertained, not for going to sleep. She likes the music and the light flashing on and off. We have the glow sea horse for bedtime, that's a lot more soothing that this.

This is so cute, and I loved it when my Mother-in-law gave it to my son for christmas, but it doesn't sooth him AT ALL! The lights are way to bright, and flash rapidly, and the music is too loud. It actually wakes him up in the middle of the night if he happens to roll on it.

My newborn son sleeps a lot better and longer with light and noise going on and although I think the lights a little bright, especially for it being right by his face he seems to enjoy it. I bought this elsewhere, but I wanted to get the word out not to buy this. I've had it a couple of months and it already doesn't work. It stops playing music after just a few seconds and doesn't light up at all. When it did work, the flashing lights were way too bright and the "lullabys" were too loud and not in the least soothing. You can't control the brightness or the volume. It is at least cute, so I left it is the crib for something for my daughter to look at. Don't bother!

My 4 1/2 month old LOVES this toy. It is well made, very soft and the arms/feet/ears and material in general is great for chewing/sucking. It has two sets of velcro straps which helps us strap it to just about anything. This is perfect for daytrips in the car and is small enough and convenient to go in the diaper bag.

However, like the other parents, I tried this in her co-sleeper the past two nights and it is WAAY too bright and loud for night time. The flashing light is perfect in the day but at night is more like a strobe light and too intense for her little eyes. During the daylight hours, she smiles like crazy and loves it. She doesn't smile at it at all when it's dim and actually looks a little alarmed and over-stimulated.

As a toy, FIVE STARS. As far as the name "Crib companion soother lullaby" TWO STARS. Not for bedtime. I am going to order the seahorse like recommended.

Gund Huggybuddy- 18 inch

I did a lot of searching for a "blanket buddy" for my new born granddaughter. Having seen how successful this type of item (a bear by another manufacturer)) has been for her sister, now 28 months old, I wanted to get one for the new baby. I also wanted it to be different enough from the other one that no jealousy or conflicts would arise.

So, I found and read the reviews on about seven such "buddies." The Gund was certainly an excellent choice very soft, with one silky side and one plush side, and machine washable. The head size was a bit of a surprise, being larger than I'd imaged, but that's really no problem.

Be sure to get two one for normal use and one emergency "back-up" in case of loss or washing machne time, as children can get very attached to these little friends. Attachment to a small "buddy" however, is so much better than attachment to a large "security blanket" like we saw in the "old days."

I LOVE Huggybuddy Lamb. I bought one for my daughter when she was 6 months old and now she is 8 months old and sleeps with it every night. Every time she's sleepy she'll burry her head in it's soft head. Extremely soft and it's silky body is perfect for her to grip at night. I would definitely recommend a huggybuddy!

Seriously...I have 3 daughters and unfortunately found the huggybuddies after the first. So my younger 2 daughters each have 2; however, the don't know they have two. I rotate them in the wash so that they wear evenly in case we ever have a true emergency of loosing Lambie or Piggy.

I bought this teether for my four month old son. He started teething early and uses it a lot. He is now 6 months old and is still using it and already has his first tooth. I like it that he can hold it himself. We have other teethers for him but he ends up dropping them because they have no handle. This teether is not to big. My son puts one side of it in his mouth. I don't think the entire teether is meant to go into your child's mouth. We likes this one so much I bought 2 more for back ups.

My son is four months old and seems to be getting front and back teeth (weird I know.) We have had a hard time finding teethers that help with his pain, most of the ones he likes to chew on we have to hold for him.

This is the first teether he's shown much interest in. He seems to prefer it when it is chilled. The curved design really does seem to help him get it in his mouth. I love the leash but the clip is the same design as the MAM pacifier leashes and I find it a little onerous. It definitely does the job though!

Got this for our 6 month old daughter's first Halloween in the 6-12 months sizing. She is a really big girl (28 inches and 18lbs) so she is currently in 9 and 12 month clothing. This costume JUST fit her and if she had been any bigger it would probably have been too small thru the chest and in the arms. I would say if your child is any bigger than she is make sure to order the next size up or it probably won't be comfortable. Cute outfit, well made and easy to get on and off. I wish it had covers for the hands since her little hands got cold on Halloween but otherwise it is a great outfit.

I bought this for my 6 month old son who's in the 50th percentile for weight, he wears a 9-12 month size in all his clothing so I bought him the 6-12 month size in this costume....the body portion is WAY too big, but the head piece is WAY too small. My son's head is in the 40th percentile, and I can't even get the chin straps all the way around. I'm not sure if I just got a defect, but just out of curiosity I put the head piece on his twin sister (who's head is much smaller), and it was really tight on her. Too bad because it's really cute, material seems soft enough etc... but it just doesn't fit right. I don't believe this would fit on ANY 12 month old if I can't even get it on my 6 month old.

My 10-month old son wore this for his Halloween costume. It was adorable, and we got many compliments. I was hoping the tummy would be stuffed, but it wasn't, however it was still cute. We didn't use the blanket that came with it--not really sure why it's part of the costume. My son seemed very comfortable in it, and we liked that the bottom had snaps at the legs so we could change his diaper easily. He started to chew on the part of the hat that was near his mouth, so I unbuttoned the top snap and he stopped. I wouldn't recommend this costume if your child is walking because the feet don't come off and I imagine it would be hard to get shoes on. It was in the 60s outside during Halloween, so we just had him in a onesie and socks underneath. The instructions say to hand wash, but I threw it in the washing machine on gentle cycle and it was fine. I let it air dry, though.

Durable Weather-Resistant Metal Rocking Seesaw

We got the box for this seesaw and it must have been previously opened (more than 4 times) because the box was completely taped together as if it had been ripped open over and over. The screws they provided was a culmination of random screws thrown together in a taped up baggy with whatever they could just to get the item out the door. None of the screws matched, 18 washers too short, and the holes did not align at all with the set up to screw in. The directions didn't even match up with the type of screws, washers, or bolts provided. My husband is a construction engineer who has put together MANY items for our children. This by far was the most difficult and frustrating one.

I have a petite 7 month old baby girl and this costume was too large for her. However, on a boy or an average sized girl, this would probably fit well. The costume did not come with feet, non-stick or otherwise, but it is no big deal as you can put socks on. I got lots of compliments on what a cute little pumpkin I had, so the costume was a bit hit.

Shortly after receiving them & without much play, I noticed that the wood was sharp on a few of them & that the paint was peeling. This may be just a set that is damaged, but in comparison to my Plan Toys block set, these seem cheap and not as durable. I highly recommend buying the Plan Toys set instead; for the same price you get 12 more blocks and they are much better quality.

PVC is dangerous for children and that is what the cover of the foam pieces are made of. You don't have to listen to me though, do the homework. Cant believe a company that specializes in children and baby products puts this out on the market in todays day and age of cautious parents. Maybe your kid will get cancer later maybe not, I certainly don't want to risk it over a toy. Mind you not all my toys are bpa free but this is a big one and gives off way more gases in a room than a small toy.

The climbing blocks are great, my toddler, 4 and 6 year olds love them. The company was very efficient in processing the order. I live in Canada and received the blocks within a week. The only issue we have had is the red block developed a hole near a seam and we are having trouble getting the repair patch to stick. I have yet to contact the company with this issue but I will. All the other pieces are fine.

My son is currently 4 months and weighs about 15 pounds. This float was easy to assemble and a breeze to blow up.

The shade is a bit low, but worked fine since my son is young. I can see that it would be an issue for any baby that was a bit taller and older. As long as the sun was behind the float than it shaded just fine, which is the most important to us since we are in 100 degree weather in Arizona. It also was nice because the mesh in the bottom of the float enabled us to sort of recline my son (always watching and holding him of course). He really enjoyed himself.

All in all it was a great price and I do think we will get our money worth on this product. It is not as nice of a design as the $35-$40 floats but it blocks the sun and enables my son to have a good time in the pool!

Sportster Car

We own the newer version of this car. It's red all over, has racing stripes on the side and a big number 8 on the back. Its passengers are cheerful little yellow-painted men with hats, and pleasingly simple features (see both my customer images). Ours does not have the face on the vehicle, as the one pictured does.

For Christmas we've ordered a number of catalogs with safe US and German-made toys, including Holgate's catalog, and have allowed our kids to browse through them and compose a wish list. When this little car struck my daughter's fancy, I was surprised. It didn't look exciting to me, but we were putting in a big order with Holgate, and the manufacturer's price is more than fair, so we figured we'd add it to her stocking (it's the perfect size for a stocking, by the way).

I was pleasantly surprised when we received it. This car is much higher quality than the images might lead someone to believe. It doesn't just look like a replicate of an old-fashioned toy, it plays like one too. It's got good weight to it, the wheels make this pleasingly heavy wooden sound when traveling across the wood floors and the car travels smoothly and easily, just as you'd expect. The little passengers bob around in their 'seats' in a really sweet way too. When I think of a toy, this is what I think this is the real deal.

My only caveat is that the little men, who measure 2.5" long by .5" wide, seem like an obvious choking hazard. The packaging says 18 months+ (and the Amazon listing puts it at 2 years+), but unless you decide to put these little men away for awhile, I'd recommend this to the 3+ crowd. This is more an issue of labeling, in my mind, than one with the toy itself.

All in all, a great toy. Safe paint and finishes, quality workmanship, and made in the USA.

Its ok, my 2 1/2 yr old grandson plays with it sometimes, but prefers more of the "cars" look. Its kind of bland and the little people don't do anything for him-the dog likes them though!

One of those nice old style toys that doesbn't that quite have much visual appeal today.

Skip Hop Bath Spout Cover

It covers the spout, so when my kids stand up, they won't hit the metal spout. This covers the spout very well, and it can be tightened by pulling on the flipper on either side. Probably won't work with a spout without a shower pull because the whale will just slide off. Easy to wash, not very many crevices for mold to grow.

We bought this to replace a duck spout cover that we noticed had mold on it. Our bath spout does not have a shower diverter on it so the whale slides right off no matter how tight we make it. As you can imagine this renders the product useless. Something like this should have been mentioned in the description.

I use to have the Sassy Soft Spout Tub Guard frog, which is absolutely useless in every way, I replaced it for this one, we have a long thin modern spout, and kind of nothing can be attached to it, the plus of this spout guard is that you can tighten it sideway using the whale flippers, which make looks ours like an anorexic dolphin, but at least, does the job properly :)

I was worried this wouldn't fit since our faucet is 40 years old, and the shower diverter is in the back of the faucet instead of the front. However, it fits perfectly! The tail flips over the diverter and works great. It hangs low enough over the front of the faucet to protect her little head if she raises up under it. I can understand why people say that it would not stay on a faucet that has no diverter. It does slide forward, and is held on mostly by the diverter, and only slightly by tightening the fins. It is super easy to wipe clean and is made really well. I'm sure this will be the last faucet cover we will have to buy, and we will probably be able to pass it down. Plus, it doesn't have any goofy pictures or characters on it. Even the packaging was stylish. It's just simple and cute.

Edushape 4" Sensory Balls, Set of 4, Colors May Vary

It's infuriating and misleading that these balls are marketed as "phthalate-free." That may be true, but it does NOT mean they are safe! They are made of PVC, a super toxic plastic that off-gases dangerous fumes and releases potentially carcinogenic chemicals! I don't know about you, but I do not want my baby chewing on that!

I had my suspicions about this product's safety when I noticed that the balls have that beach ball "smell." I checked, and, sure enough, discovered the PVC.

It's such a shame that a mother must do detective work in order to confirm the safety of her child's toys!

If you read the comments for this review, you will see a response from the manufacturer which states that the balls are in fact made with PVC, but that the PVC is "phthalate-free."

After a brief internet search, I discovered that phthalate-free vinyl (PVC, #3) is a small step in the right direction-but that does not mean that PVC itself is safe. The vinyl chloride used to make PVC is a known carcinogen. Furthermore, the manufacturing process creates and releases dioxins that can be dangerous to factory workers manufacturing the PVC and harmful to the environment. I encourage you to type the phrases "phthalate-free PVC," "PVC," and/or "vinyl chloride" into your search engine of choice. It is quite easy to find information about the safety of PVC and its manufacturing process.

While I do not have the means to test this product for toxicity (and therefore cannot say with 100% certainty that the balls could cause direct harm to children), I stand by my decision to avoid the product due to what I learned about the chemical components and manufacturing process for PVC-whether it contains phthalates or not. I hope the manufacturer will consider a natural rubber or silicone alternative to these balls, because I would gladly purchase them.

To close, I'd like to respond to a few commenters who have attacked my desire to protect my children from toxins. First, I think it's a shame to attack a mother who is trying to act in the best interest of her children... especially when your attack includes narrow-minded remarks about my being from California. If these comments actually reflect your world view, I feel sorry for you, and I forgive you. It's also apparent that you do not know the facts. I encourage you to read up on this topic! The Environmental Working Group is a great resource and provides links to the research that backs up the organization's claims. Sadly, many people have no idea that everyday products (toys, household cleaners, toiletries, etc.) can contain alarming levels of contaminants and chemicals that are KNOWN to be harmful to humans (proven carcinogens, neurotoxins, endocrine disruptors, etc.) and/or the environment. Some products even contain chemicals that have been banned in Europe and Japan due to their known toxicity.

Yes, it's impossible to avoid ALL toxins... even I admit that! But that fact should not excuse us from caring. It's impossible to completely protect children from injury, but does that mean that people who childproof their homes are paranoid California hippies? Certainly not.

It is my hope that more parents will voice their preference for non-toxic products, and that companies will respond to the rising demand. Until then, I'll be happy to clean my home with vinegar, purchase wooden toys, use body products with a low toxicity rating (btw, there is an authoritative and credible internet database with these ratings), and live with the "California hippie" accusations! You call this behavior "paranoid," but I call it "smart," "fact-based," "intentional." It is borne out of my love for my children, my body, and our planet.

I bought for my almost 3yr old boy who has SPD(sensory processing disorder) and he loves them, as does my 6 yr old son and myself. They are perfect for gripping, rolling, throwing, massaging and they are not sharp or harmful. I only gave 4 stars because it would have been better if they were all different sizes.

My 1 year old loves it when we take off his shirt and roll these down his back and sides. They are small enough for him to pick up with both hands and he loves the feel. The balls seem to be well made and have a valve like a basket ball to fill them with more air if desired. Recommend to anyone.

This was my Xmas gift to my 4-month daughter and she enjoys to watch and listen to it. The only thing I found is that it won't move around the bed as it does on the desk or the floor. I guess it needs a good grip to do the shaking.

I bought this for my infant originally, but he wasn't too interested in it. Our Australian Shepherd, however, loves it. Maple Landmark Wooden Top "Made in the USA"

I got my top today rather than three tops which I was expecting. I guess I need to order some more for my other kids. The size of this top was much smaller than expected due to the image on this advertisement which is not to scale. This advertisement should have a picture of one top rather than three and it should be scaled appropriately. I ended up with a green one but would like to specify for the other kids preference....why is there no option to choose a color?

The top spins nicely, is well machined but is pretty small and will most likely be lost under the sofa a week after xmas.

This is a nice spinning top. Beware that you cannot choose the color you will get but i don't think that really matters.

The only worry I have is with the tip. Being made out of wood I'm worried that over time the tip won't be as pointy and so it won't spin as nicely. So this product might have a short-ish life span.

I also expected more than just one top as the previous reviewer. The description probably needs to be updated to be more specific especially since the buyer doesn't have an option to choose which color top to purchase. Other than that, the product is fine.
