Juno Baby - Way to Go, Juno!

Juno Baby - Way to Go, Juno!My almost two-year-old daughter is somewhat picky about what she will watch on tv, and we limit her viewing each week, so when we received this I was a little skeptical. However, she loved it from the beginning. There are several fun puppet characters, catchy tunes, and toddler-appropriate short stories. There are also messages about being brave and trying new things, from broccoli to haircuts. This is a DVD that I don't mind letting her watch during tv time, because it does seem to be well-designed for toddlers and isn't just another annoying cartoon. Even after watching this repeatedly, this is still one of her favorite DVD's to choose. She is even requesting broccoli and tomatoes for lunch! We also downloaded some of the music from itunes to play in the car, and it makes long car rides much easier. I am actually looking on here to find some more Juno Baby items for her birthday I know they will be a big hit.

Let's be honest....a lot of children's music can just be irritating to adult ears after the first few minutes of listening! Juno really is quite the opposite, I found myself bopping right along to the music and enjoying it as much as the children did. This is a great addition to your collection of children's music.

Buy Juno Baby - Way to Go, Juno! Now

I gave this to my 2 yr old grandson who loved this. We (granny, too) watched the DVD all the way through and then he wanted to watch it again. I was pleased to see that he enjoyed it and the 2nd time around he was humming along, and I'm sure with another time or two of watching, he will be singing along.

This is the first Juno baby DVD my daughter or I have seen, but my daughter was impressed and said she was going to look for more. We both liked the fun songs, loved the "Broccoli song". I would recommend this to parents with toddlers.

Some of you might "get" my title from an old SNL clip if I remember correctly but my point is that it is not often that something comes along to make broccoli entertaining. Thank goodness something did come along by the time I had little ones. This is worth the price just for the broccoli song but there is more, much more and its all good. Wonderful alternative to some of the more annoying baby and kid fare for sale these days.

Want Juno Baby - Way to Go, Juno! Discount?

My three-year-old absolutely loves the Juno series, so I figured he would enjoy Juno Baby Way to Go Juno! It turns out that he was actually familiar with quite a few of the songs from clips on YouTube, which have the common theme of overcoming your fears, from fear of getting a haircut to fear of eating broccoli. Unlike the Juno Jr. videos this Juno Baby video is quite basic there's very little CGI and not much in the way of a navigational menu. None of this matters to my son, who is even crazier about this video than the Juno Jr. version.

There's just one nitpick. At the very end of the video, Juno asks the Caterpillar if he has any fears he'd like to overcome, and he indicates he's afraid of nothing. Then a spider appears and he runs away screaming. The end.

There's really no reason to be afraid of spiders, and the subtlety of the joke (see, uptight Caterpillar WAS afraid of something!) is lost on preschoolers. It's not funny, it just reinforces a fear of bugs that's unnecessary and surprisingly out of tune with the rest of the show's excellent message.

But my son still really loves this video.

Playskool Chuck Fold-n-Go Construction Quarry Playset

Playskool Chuck Fold-n-Go Construction Quarry PlaysetMy son got this for christmas in 2009 along with several other chuck and friends playsets including the garage and firestation. This is the only play set of those 3 that we still currently own and my son plays with it fairly often. It's very sturdy and doesn't have any pieces that are detachable and it folds into a pretty convenient size so I can slip it easily in the closet when I'm rotating toys. It's also pretty easy to use and even when my son was younger (18 months or so) he could easily play with this toy independantly without any frustrated cries for help.

Don't bother with the other "Fold-n-go" sets, my son has the fire station and the mechanics garage in addition to this one. He enjoys playing with them all, but the other 2 have ramps that come off way too easily, so I am constantly having to snap them back on (instead of him playing happily while I get dinner cooked or fold laundry). The quarry didn't look as interesting to me as the other 2, but he enjoys it and it doesn't have pieces that fall off requiring constant maintenance. Bonus. I don't see it holding his attention for much longer (he's 2 1/2 now) but it was worth the $14 I paid for it. WARNING: I have seen this toy sell for as much as $30 and it is not worth that much!

Wow,

My little boy is a busy, busy dude. I saw this and scoffed at it thinking, "This will keep his attention for about five minutes." My husband insisted on getting it and I don't mind admitting that I was wrong. My 2.5 year old loves this toy. Education wise there's nothing outstanding about it but for some reason he finds this toy a lot of fun even though it doesn't do much and it's the same short reptetitive play. It's super durable and great for him to tote around! I am pleasantly surprised.

My 21-month-old son seems to enjoy the crane on this toy, but it is extremely small and flimsy. The profile is very narrow and the toy has a tendency to fall over on its side.

Phonics Radio

Phonics RadioMy son got this for Christmas! He was 15 months old at the time. He just loves it. Plays with it every day. He loves the music. He likes to dance to it and push the buttons. HE is learning his ABC's.. My older son gets use of it too. He is 4. He is learning the sounds of the letters.. So all around a GREAT toy! One great feature is that it has volume control. Always a must!

I just bought this toy for my 19 month old last week and he won't put it down!!! Every letter has a song and he just loves to press the buttons and dance. It also has the ABC song which he's learning to sing. What I love the most is that it holds his attention for a long period of time. This toy was a great buy!!!

Bought this for my 2 year old for the car to keep her busy.It does the job and also helps her to learn the ABC"S.She has droped it and carried it around. We even took it a public place,it is a little loud and no volume button.

We bought this for our son when he was 10 months old. We have had it for just over a month now. He is, of course, a little young for this toy. However, he loves the songs it plays for each letter and will "dance" and shake his head to the music. He has figured out how to turn the pages of the book, which makes a very cute rustling noise when he does it. The buttons light up, which attract his attention, but he only pushes them on accicdent. He is still too young for the game function. What I love about this, and it is why we bought it in the first place, is that it teaches phonics in addition to the letter. Each letter has a corresponding song which is sung when the button for that letter is pushed. The say the name of the letter, then use the letter is several words to demonstrate how that letter can sound. The songs are short and catchy, some are in female voices, others in male voices. Like all Leap Frog toys, there is a volume control and on/off switch.

I am sure that my son will get more and more use out of this toy as he grows. He already enjoys to play with it, and will sit for 5 minutes or so. For a one year old, I think that is great!

I admit the I am hesitant to say good things about toys with batteries or toys that have kids push buttons to, "learn," but my 2 1/2 year old daughter does love this toy and seems eager to learn from it. She got it a year ago and it was a little over her head until she was about two years old. I think it will continue to keep her interest for at least another six months.

Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium

Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders AquariumThis is a goregous item! I was hesitant to buy it online, so went to Target to see it for myself. You HAVE to push the button to try it before you can really appreciate it. The pictures on the website just don't do it justice.

The lights and motions and sounds that you can't see in pictures are what makes this so special. The lights are bright enough to be really sparkly, but soft, not harsh, amber colored. The movements of the fish and plants are subtle and realistic. The songs and sound effects, several lullabies, bubbles, oceantides and running river are high quality, not high-pitched or tinny. This is soothing, my almost 3 month old likes it and it almost made me fall asleep too.

The remote works well too, which is usually a problem with these types of items. It is super high quality, heavy weight materials. Make sure you don't cut the straps that are to hold it in the crib, as they attach it in the box, and even though there's a big red crossed circle sign telling you not to cut them, it took me a minute to process what it meant, and I was in such a hurry to get this out and working and show the baby that I almost cut them anyway (we parents are programmed to break out the chainsaw to get toys out of their packages these days!)

Really a good value for the money, I am so glad I went to see this and didn't pass it up! You will NOT be disappointed, go ahead and buy it on line if you like the idea and photos, you will LOVE the actual item!

I could not decide between the Ocean Wonders soother and the Rainforest Peekaboo Soother, so I got both in order to see which was best.

They are priced comparably, although it seems that Amazon just raised the price on the Ocean Wonders one, for some reason. It is still available at other places like Target for about the same price as the Rainforest Soother.

The Ocean Wonders Aquarium soother is what I'm sticking with, and here's why:

1. My 5 month old likes it better! The Rainforest Peekaboo soother has lights and motion, but it's not as dramatic as the bubbles that you get in the Aquarium soother. My 5 month old got tired of the Rainforest soother after a few minutes, while the Ocean Wonders soother holds her riveted. (I think it's the bubbles!)

That was, of course, the deciding factor. Other considerations that pushed me over the edge were:

2. Ocean Wonders has longer music and motion cycle than the Rainforest soother. The Ocean Wonders soother goes for 18 minutes. You can optionally turn off the motion or lights or music. Conversely, the Rainforest soother only has an 18 minute cycle if you choose "music only." It has a 12 minute cycle if you choose "music and lights" (no motion). But if you want all 3 -music, lights, motion -you only can get that for 6 minutes. Not sure what the folks at Fisher Price were thinking there (perhaps battery life?), but no thank you!

3. Ocean Wonders comes with a remote. So, if that 18 minute cycle is longer than you would like, just shut it off from the doorway of your child's room.

4. Ocean Wonders has more music to choose from. There is a toggle button that allows you to choose 5 different music tracks (classical, nursery rhyme, etc) and just plan sound effects (bubbles, waves). The Rainforest soother, from what I can see, only has one choice, although it plays about 3 different tunes.

5. Ocean Wonders has a bigger start button, which makes it easier for your child to activate on their own. My daughter has turned the aquarium on all by herself just by stretching and kicking her feet. Which is fine by me! The Rainforest button is smaller and not as prominently located on the unit.

In short, they are both fine soothers, but I think the Ocean Wonders Aquarium soother has more going for it. And my daughter thinks so too!

I rated this very well when my daughter was 7 weeks because it truly helped her to fall asleep & adjust to sleeping in her crib. At 5 months old my daughter loved to watch the aquarium & learned how to turn it on & off which gave me a few extra minutes to get some things done during her naps. I ended up taking it out of her crib around 7 months because she was all over the place & I was afraid she'd get into trouble with it.

At 13 months old, I STILL use this everyday for her naps & bedtime routine. It stays on the rocking chair next to her crib & I use it to play music now. As soon as I go into the nursery, I turn on the music only (it has 3 options-music, lights & fish) & she sticks her thumb in her mouth & is ready to go to sleep. She still plays with it when she's out of her crib so I would certainly say this was well worth the money spent. It does use a lot of batteries if you run the music, lights & fish all at the same time but for just music it lasts for quite sometime.

By the way, there are several different songs/sounds to choose from. We've always just turned on the first song & I love it. Very pleasant & relaxing.

My baby seems to really enjoy this aquarium. I like how long the music plays and the songs are very soothing. I also like all the different settings and choices. My only complaint is that for some reason the tv remote we have in the baby's room turns the aquarium on and off as I turn the channel and change the volume quite frustrating when I'm watching tv while nursing the baby to sleep... I haven't found any way around this except to make sure that the aquarium is turned off before I turn on the tv. A little bit annoying, but still worth it to keep my baby entertained for a little while!

Want Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Discount?

When my wife first told me about this item I was unsure but ordered it anyhow. How right my wife was! Our son is crazy about it!!! We often use it to lull our son to sleep at night. Only one word of caution...the remote control is set on a very broad frequency so that even when you use your TV's remote control, whether changing channels, adjusting volume or muting will turn the Aquarium off and on. For this reason, I strongly recommend you turn the remote function off when you put your baby to sleep or he/she will get an unexpecting surprise during the night!

BRIO Magnetic Stacking Train

BRIO Magnetic Stacking TrainI thought it would be cool to teach our little boy about how magnets work with this train, however it's not as easy to get the magnets to stick to the base of the train as one would think. There is only one side of each of the pieces that attaches magnetically to the train's base. So that means you have to try up to 6 surfaces to find the "sticky" surface. Seems like a simple thing but it's kind of annoying. Wouldn't have bought this had I known this.

At first one might think that magnets would make wooden blocks easier to use. However, I find the opposite to be true. The age recommendation is 12 months +. My son is 13 months, and is far from figuring out how magnets work.

As an adult, I find myself enjoying fiddling with the train, but mildly irritating that there is no way to predict how the symmetrical blocks will fit together. I actually enjoy the non-magnetic Haba Fantasy blocks I got for my son better.

It seems like a high quality product.

I Might recommend the train for:

1. An older child who may benefit from learning about magnets.

2. A child who already likes regular wooden blocks and might like a variation and challenge.

Buy BRIO Magnetic Stacking Train Now

I purchased the magnetic stacking blocks about 1 1/2 years ago for my child (now 2 1/2). I loved the idea of children having beginning blocks that could actually stick together and not immediately fall down. These are very well made. Because they are magnetic with one side "positive"/ one side "negative", I put a tiny permanent marker dot on the positive side of all the blocks. My daughter immediately picked up on this (at 12 months, they are more observant that we think sometimes) and that did the trick. She knew how to stick them together. They stick together well enough on the floor but if picked up too vigorously, or with too many stuck togetherthey come apartlots of fun for the child as well. Her main issue was that there were not enough to really feel like they can build something as they get older so I bought a second set and this train. It works great for us.

If you have an older child, the discovery of how the magnets repel or attract will be interesting, but if they are younger most likely just frustrating so I suggest the dot idea. It is a safe beginning magnet set because there is no way the child can access the magnetit is inside the shapes.

everything about this toy is good. It incorporates the highest level quality in material, style, design, color choice and best of all, the terrific way it fits together. So many combinations and the play with magnets makes this an outstanding choice. It couldn't be better.

Ambi Duck Family - Childs Bathtime Toy

Ambi Duck Family - Childs Bathtime ToyLikes

Like how colorful it is. But that's about it.

Cons

Baby ducks don't float well, always end up upside down

My two year old sometimes have difficulty fitting ducklings in the back of the mother

She is unable to open the back all by herself. Even I have some trouble with it

Mother sinks to the bottom of the tub once water gets in the opening which it always does of course. It's a tub full of water.

The point of ducks is to float. These do not float, they sink. Very dissapointing

Wonderful. I've given this item as a baby gift many times and they always loved it. Unexpected and great bath fun for years.

Plan Toys Preschool Cone Sorting

Plan Toys Preschool Cone SortingI have the old model of this toy, Plan Toys Cone Sorting and my 10 month old loves it so much, we decided to buy this new version for her cousin's first birthday. I decided to open it up to compare this new one and the old one. Here are some of the key differences:

This new model is recommended for 18+ months (versus 2+ years with the old model).

This new model has ridges on all of the outer rings, which makes for more secure stacking and more stacking possibilities (See photo).

This new model has a rounded top which allows for upside down stacking and perhaps creates less of a choking hazard.

This new model has a green base with ridges on top and bottom, which creates more stacking possibilities. The green color is also less likely to get stained. My natural base on the old model has gotten dirty and stained after only a of couple months.

This new model is made from sawdust and wood chips instead of organic rubberwood which results in a grainy look (versus the smooth look of the old model). Personally, I think the old model is more aesthetically pleasing.

This new model uses organic paint (the paint on the old model is still water-based and non-toxic, but not organic).

Overall, this new model appears even better than the old one, and I would definitely recommend it!

Also, here is my original review of the old model:

My 9 month old loves taking apart this toy. Every time we put it back together, she just has to demolish it. This toy also encouraged her to start crawling. She would throw one of the inner cylinders, and then crawl after it to fetch it. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the cylinders will end up rolling everywhere... under the couch, the t.v., etc., so it's kind of annoying to keep digging them out, but scattering the pieces and watching them roll is half the fun for the baby. If you plan on giving this to an infant, just be sure to watch them closely or take away the light green piece... it seemed a little dangerous when I saw my baby chewing on the end of it.

Shrek Romper And Headpiece Donkey

Shrek Romper And Headpiece Donkey, Donkey, 6-12 MonthsMy wife and I have a 21month old daughter who loves Shrek and Donkey. So we had to be the "Shrek family" this year. Daddy had to have his best friend Donkey by his side and momma as Fiona, and we were a hit! Everyone loved our costumes (wife and I made ours and went full face paint also) and we could not have pulled it off without the awesome Donkey costume. Thanks for a great product and adding to our growing list of happy family memories.

The donkey 0-6 month costume fit correctly for my four month old. It was very cute and we got lots of compliments. I wish the suit had feet as he kept kicking his socks off. Also the chin strap that attached the head piece seemed a little uncomfortable. Would be be better if it attached with a button. For the price, this costume served its purpose: It kept him relatively warm and it was cute as a button :)

Buy Shrek Romper And Headpiece Donkey Now

I ordered the 6-12 month size for my 8 month old son. The body suit fits very well. He is about 17lbs and 28 inches. I'm not sure if it would be big enough for a 12 month old. My other son was a big boy and it would not have fit him at a year old for sure! The headpiece is cute but the straps that come down and velcro underneath the neck are way too long. I may have to cut them down and put new velcro on. Currently they are so long that they don't hold the headpiece on and it ends up falling backward and the chin piece starts getting in his face. The quality of the costume is nice though and I'm satisfied with my purchase!

Fisher Price Peek a Boo Waterfall Rainforest Baby Crib Toy with Lights & Music

Fisher Price Peek a Boo Waterfall Rainforest Baby Crib Toy with Lights & Music~BACKGROUND~

I purchased this soother (new) for my 4 month-old as a change from his overhead music mobile.

~PROS~

3 different time settings:

1) lights w/ music/sounds, and movement for 6 minutes

2) lights and music/sounds for 12 minutes

3) music/sounds only for 18 minutes.

real water bubbles in the soother which is pretty neat.

3 sound types classical, lullabies and rainforest.

3 sound levels high, medium, low.

easy activation by the press of a button on the face of the unit.

~CONS~

The lights are way too bright to be a "soother".

The straps that hold the soother on are difficult to use. Once it is one it's sturdy and not going anywhere though.

More bubbles would be nice as there aren't that many.

Uses batteries pretty quickly if you use this soother regularly.

~CONCLUSION~

Other than being too bright it is a welcome addition to our son's collection. I consider this to be more of an "entertainer" than a "soother" due to the brightness of the lights. We still prefer the:

Fisher-Price Precious Planet 2-in-1 Projection Mobile and use it more than this soother.

I love the product. When I got the package here is what I found.

-water leaking out of it

-dirty had to clean it up and get marks and strange sticky goo off it

I bought it under the premise of in good condition. I would say it was certainly less than that. Luckily, I cleaned it all up and my son loves to look at it at night before he goes to bed.

Bright Starts Buzzin' Around Bee Toy

Bright Starts Buzzin' Around Bee ToyWe keep this attached via links to the "oh crap" handle in our mini van (not sure what the handle in the ceiling is actually called, but that's what my husband yells out if he needs to use it!). We then bring it around for our almost 5 month old to play with during the car rides. The wings have crinkly material in them and I can hear that and the little rattles going until he falls asleep. It is the only toy he still enjoys on such a regular basis from his infancy. Of course he would really like it to play music but that would make the car ride seem sooo much longer for me!

Haba Ballino Clutching toy

Haba Ballino Clutching toyThis ball is very well made, tennis ball sized. A bungee cord holds it together giving it the ability to bend from side to side producing a nice wooden clak. My 7 month old has had this for a few months and she definitely likes it. I admit I thought it was a bit of an odd shape for a baby to pick up but my daughter doesn't seem to care and has no problems with it and even seems to enjoy the unusual build of it. She still sucks on the ball although you would think that would be hard too. It looks fascinating when it's spun like a top. I imagine she will continue to like this ball as she grows and can start to really participate in rolling it about. As for us adults in the house, we find ourselves absently-mindly holding it and softly clacking it from one side to anotherahhh... baby toy therapy.

I bought this for my niece when she was about a year old. She's starting to learn some simple words, and she can identify the colors on the toy, and that it is a ball, and so on, so there is an education aspect to it. Of course, she doesn't know that, so she just thinks it's fun. When she shakes the toy, the wooden plates make a clacking sound that she likes and it's not too annoying for the parents. As a side note, how many electronic toys can make that claim? I also bought several other Haba toys at the same time as this one and they are all equally well made, and still played with. An excellent buy.

Buy Haba Ballino Clutching toy Now

This is just a few wooden discs tied via a rubber band. I was very skeptical at first. It actually works. My daughter is glued to it. When you play catch; it does make clicking sound. She likes to grab it and play with it for long times. I hope it is made of good quality paint.. as she chews a lot too. Count less hours of fun and price less smiles.

We bought this for my son at birth, and he definitely had to "grow into it". He started taking interest at 6 months, and still discovers it from time to time now at 8 months. As he becomes more dexterous, I suspect he will have more fun with it. It's hard to grasp for little hands. They want to put it into their mouths, but it's big enough to be a clumsy and fruitless effort. It's very well made and attractive, but at this stage does not keep his interest for long periods of time yet.

It's not the first go-to toy for my sons by any means but does get some use in rolling it across the floor and spinning it. I think it's a good addition to the other Haba toys as an extra little toy to play with on occasion.

miYim Musical Pull Toy

miYim Musical Pull Toy, Brown OwlI gave this to my friend as a gift topper for her Owl themed baby shower. It was the perfect gift as it is simply so sweet and plays lovely music. I know babies love the pull and music (cause and effect) of the toy. Plus the color was perfect for her baby boys modern nursery. Bought it on a recommendation from American Baby Magazine. Great find.

This is much bigger than I thought, and the pull-cord is longer than I expected. It is very soft, very cute, and the music it produces is quite pleaseant. What Im not sure of yet is where to put it and what to do with it. I initially thought that it is too big and too long to be a car seat toy and probably wouldnt work with our stroller either. I've tried hanging it from the overhead cross bars of a play-mat/activity gym and that worked ok. I did try putting it on our graco car seat, you cant see much of baby while its on there, but she did seem to like it and reaches for it and really enjoys the music. If she gets upset when we put her in the carseat, this has worked to settle her down. Overall, I think it is a pretty good toy.

PowerTouch Baby: I Know My Letters, Power Touch

PowerTouch Baby: I Know My Letters, Power Touch"I know My Letters" AND "I know My Numbers" are the best books of the four out right now for the PT Baby!!! ***This one is our favorite***

The pages are way stronger than the reg. PT books for the older kids. These pages are coated and are thicker and more durable. The pages have texture on some of the pictures too and the picture talk and/or make sounds as well.

This book is a must have for your PT Baby. Enjoy!!!

My daughter received four books from this system when she was 9 months old for Christmas and loves them on their own. She learned her letters and the objects pictured. The books are very durable as she liked to bite on them while she was teething. Ten months have passed and she still enjoys them as much as she did when she first received them.

Fisher Price Lil' Zoomers Speedy Speedsters 2 pack

Fisher Price Lil' Zoomers Speedy Speedsters 2 packMy grandson loves this entire series. He has the ramp where the car flip over as they come down. The rescue vehicles work the best but these are fun, too. Also great just for 'scooting' around on the floor

My grandson never tires of this lil' zoomers line. Plays with them everyday. Highly recomend! Think he has all that are available now.

Haba Bath Book Shark

Haba Bath Book SharkThe shark is adorable and we play with is daily during bath time. The book, not so much. My son chewed on it the first day he received it and the paint flecked off the edge he was chewing on. Given the fact that children of this age chew on everything, I was really surprised that it was so easily damaged. We have and love the Haba blocks, but I'd pass on any of the plastic toys.

Bounce & Giggle - Elephant

Bounce & Giggle - ElephantReceived elephant as Christmas gift for 9 month old son. Elephant is extremely hard to activate and music and vibration last for only a few seconds. Don't waste your money.

I really like the music and vibration of this toy, but it's very hard to activate, even for me...there's no way an infant can trigger it alone, IMHO.

Buy Bounce & Giggle - Elephant Now

Like the othe reviews have said... the activation switch is hard to press making it impossible for baby to do (my daughter tries over and over to her disappointment). Additionally, once activated the vibration and music only last a few second then it is back to fighting with the switch. I wouldn't recommend wasting your money!

My 7 month old son loves this thing... for about 8 seconds! That's the longest it vibrates for and once it is done, he seems to loose interest. It would be a lot better if it ran for a longer time when the button is pushed.

My son is almost 6 months and LOVES putting the nose and ears in his mouth. The vibration must feel good on his gums. The issue is that it only vibrates in 5 second intervals. I have to keep pressing the nose over and over and over again! Cute and makes baby happy, but really annoys me!

Gund Scotty Black Scottie Dog 8" Plush

Gund Scotty Black Scottie Dog 8' PlushThis Gundy is smaller than others that I have purchased. The dog is cute. I was surprised at the quality not as nice as others that I have purchased. The faux fur feels cheaper than ones I purchased many years ago. All in all, is okay, not great.

This little dog is precious !! He really does look like a Scottie Dog !! I may go in and but the little white one to go with it.
