Crayola 3ct. TaDoodles Washable Tub Crayons (Seal, Lobster, Dolphin)

Crayola 3ct. TaDoodles Washable Tub CrayonsThese are the best tub crayons I have found for my 2 yr. old son. The shape of the animals fit his hands and are easy for him to hold. Also, these are the only tub crayons that the crayon doesn't slip out of the holder when my son is trying to write on the bathtub wall. I do have a tip for all the parents who want to refill the cute round bottomed holders and not have to purchase more each time the crayon in them runs out. I have found if you buy the regular crayola triangular crayons (they come in an 18 pack for $5), rip off the paper, cut the crayon in half and push it down into the animal holder till you hear a little click noise (that means the crayon is basically locked in place in the bottom of the holder) and presto! you have a refill for your cute round tub crayons. I have found the triangular crayons wash off just as well as the ones that come packaged with the holders (I think they are even the exact same crayons!!) I'm not sure crayola wants this secret out, because now we can just but the triangular crayons as refills and save our money by not buying a whole set when the crayon in them runs out!!

My daughter loves these crayons, and they last a long time, and we have never had any problems getting them to stay in the holder or cleaning the marks as others have said. I also love that they float, keeping the crayon part out of the water so that it doesn't turn to mush like other crayons we have tried. For a long time my big concern and I know others have felt the same is that the refills are IMPOSSIBLE to find, and it's expensive and wasteful to buy a whole new set of crayon buddies each time you run out. Finally I emailed Crayola about the refill situation, and it turns out, they don't even sell refills at retailers. However, they sent me a package of 12 refill crayons, free of charge. So overall I love the product; and I'm happy that I was finally able to GET the refills, but I knocked off a star just because of the hoopla you have to go through to get them!

My 15 month old loves these! He draws on the bathtub and the bath walls. The crayons fit in his hands great unlike regular crayons or triangular crayons.

The purple-pink shade does leave a stain behind that requires extra elbow grease, but overall these are great.

They float in the water and still draw even when they get soaked. In fact, my son draws on the floor of the tub while he bathes too.

These would be great if I could find refills. I can't find them on Amazon, at Target, on the Crayola website...

The crayon kept falling out of the holder and would not stay in. I put them back in according to the directions and they still fell out.

Mary Meyer Brainy Baby Fold Out Friend Hanging Toy

Mary Meyer Brainy Baby Fold Out Friend Hanging Toy, ElephantI bought this for my 3 m old daughters carseat bc it would match her zebra theme but it's always un-Velcro ing and falling in her face. She won't even play with it when we r at home. It's not interesting enough. No rattles or enough crinkle. Pretty lame.

Very simple toy, not particularly interesting, expensive for what it is, and it already is showing wear and tear despite the fact that my baby is only 7 weeks old and can't even play with it yet! (We hung it in the car and he stares at it how that's caused wear and tear, I have no idea!)

Buy Mary Meyer Brainy Baby Fold Out Friend Hanging Toy Now

Who knew something so simple is all they really need to be entertained. When my daughter was an infant she loved the zBrainy Baby toys, the red white and black is truly a creepy mezmorizing thing for infants! I have bought these as baby shower gifts ever since, along with Manhattan Toy Infant Stim-Mobile, I know it looks far to simple and when my mom gave it to me and I was putting it together I could not stop making fun of it!! But turned out my daugheter loved it! At 1.5 months I would but her in her bouncy seat, with the vibration off, and attach the mobile to the side, and she would stair at all the pictures forever 30 minutes plus! After I was done with it, my sisters best friend had a baby that would screem whenever he entered the crib, never even giving it a chance, I let her borrow my mobile, as my daughter had grown out of it, and she loved it! Says it worked likea charm for both of her sons!

First Blocks

First BlocksWe wanted a SAFE alternative to most blocks you buy in stores right now that may or may not contain lead paint esp since babies put EVERYThing in their mouths. We decided HABA, a German company, with a great reputation was the way to go. Our 7 mo old baby LOVES these blocks because they are very unique. The jingly one, the one with a mirror. SHe loves the donut shaped one and the little guy with his car. It's the best gift she got for Christmas and that's saying a lot when comparing it to all the battery-operated toys she got! I think the basics go a long way. She is entertained by these for a long time. We will buy more Haba toys in the future.

I have been buying Haba toys for my baby, believing these were safe baby toys made in Germany. Because of this, I did not hesitate to pay extra money for these blocks. So I was shocked to find that the red rattle in this set contains high level of arsenic and the blue fabric hat contains small amount of Bromine. (My baby loves to chew on this hat) Overall, this toy is rated "HIGH" in toxicity level at HealthyStuff.org. Some Haba toys have 0 toxicity level, but unfortunately, this block is not one of them. I have thrown away the two toxic blocks, but this leaves the set rather uninteresting and way over priced.

***UPDATE***

I contacted Haba regarding the high toxicity level reported on these blocks. Here is the reply I received;

Thank you for taking the time to write to us. Obviously you are a very educated and astute parent and for that I applaud you! We at HABA® really appreciate parents such as yourselves. Being a mom of two children myself and an "auntie" to 11 more children I can empathize.

Our HABA parent company in Germany was the first toy manufacturer in Europe to voluntarily send our items to an independent testing lab to get tested many decades ago. Mr. Habermaass still owns this family owned business and he is a grandfather now himself. You can read more about HABA at www.HABAusa.com in the About section. In fact in 2008 after the heavy recalls of China made goods many other toy companies from Europe and America decided to pull back from the USA market. HABA didn't, we actually embraced the new CPSIA laws President Bush signed just before the end of his term. Of course this new law put a heavy financial stress on all childrens' products producers and retailers but HABA endured. In fact our lead levels were already at the lower levels that the law required so we had to change very little. The HealthyStuff.org group and other interest groups such as these do not have the funds to send all of the toys to independent, CPSC authorized laboratories so they purchase equipment themselves and do many of their tests in house. These tests are not as perfect as one would get from a laboratory. That being said HABA abides by the CPSIA law and all products we import have the appropriate testing and those Certificates of Compliance are readily available on our website.

At one time this same organization claimed our marbles in our Marble Ball Track Construction Set (a wooden block set made for older children to build architectural designs for the marbles to roll through) had a harmful chemical in them. This interest group takes advantage of consumers' fears and announces their worst toy lists at the holiday times. We in fact had proof that the marbles were safe and that no chemicals that may have been in the marbles were in fact in a state that could be absorbed by a person's body, even if swallowed. In this case we did spend the money to hire an attorney and healthystuff.org had to do a recant on their findings.

Did you also know that HABA still produces all of our wooden blocks, that we know will be most likely put into a child's mouth, in Germany? It would be much less expensive for us to do what all the other companies are doing and move our production to China but Mr. Habermaass and our company philosophy is to remain as a German made company, at least for our wooden products. We can't find textile companies in Europe to make our soft goods or room décor but we're on the constant look out. We've also opened our own office in China so that we have our own staff checking daily on our production partners in China.

That all being said, our First Blocks are safe. This item passes all testing required and this item continues to be a best seller for us.

If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to reach out. Obviously your satisfaction is our #1 goal.

*************

After getting this reply from them, I'm amending my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. In the end, each parents would have to make their own mind as to who and what to believe. It takes forever to build a company reputation and just a second to ruin it (unfortunately scare tactics works too well whether justified or not) and I want to give Haba a benefit of doubt.

The reason for 3 stars is that these blocks are more hit with my husband than with my baby.

Colorful, well made blocks. There are not really enough to "build" anything, so I would suggest buying a set of Haba blocks that can be used with these, like the Fantasy Blocks.

Please check healthystuff.org when purchasing toys. This item is rated HIGH for toxicity. Ridiculous. It takes an incredible amount of time and research to find safe, non-toxic toys for infants.

My 6-month old daughter is fascinated by these blocks, right now mainly with the blue cube that has a jingle bell inside. While she is too young to stack the blocks, the bright colors, varied shapes, jingling noises and mirror are really appealing to her and she studies them intently. It's nice that this set is not just square blocks but includes round and cylindrical shapes that roll, and can see this being something she enjoys for a longgood quality time in ever-expanding ways. I like Haba products in general, which are made from nice woods and fabrics.

Ganz Baby Plush Blue Puppy

Ganz Baby Plush Blue PuppyWe purchased this plush blue puppy as a potential replacement for the one our 18 month old son already has. He has named it "Fluff" and it goes everywhere with him. We hear him in the mornings over the monitor talking to "Fluff". It has held up very well to being dragged, chewed on, wrestled, etc. We plan on retiring the original soon and secretly replacing it with the one we just bought. That way we can put the original up and store it for him as a momento of his first favorite toy.

We were pleasantly surprised that the new puppy came a couple of days before we expected it to arrive and in perfect shape.

Dr. Suess Cat in the Hat Child Accessory Kit

Dr. Suess Cat in the Hat Child Accessory KitI purchased this for Dr. Seuss day at my son's school. The cat in the hat is his favorite character and he was thrilled when he saw this. The only problem I had is with the hat standing up well. We fixed that issue by putting two small air bags into the top of the hat (they came with a book shipment) and it was perfect. Even without that it still would have worked fine.

Fisher-Price Little People Spin n' Fly Helicopter

Fisher-Price Little People Spin n' Fly HelicopterI am a big fan of all the little people toys. They last the abuse my 2 year old put on them. The toys themself are simple with out a lot of bells and noise. Most don't even require batteries. I Love that! Due to the fact these toys are so simple they require your child to use their imagination. I have heard all sorts of stories come out of my little one when he plays with his little people. I would recommend this line of toys to any parent of grandparent.

This was bought for 2yr. Old. She likes it & we just discovered the sound button on tail wing, so cute. We love to play together & she likes it a lot.

My 4 yr. old grandson was elated to receive this toy. It was one, if not the, favorite toy he received. I loved that it didn't have a jillion parts to be lost amongst the other jillion toy parts throughout the house. It also has sounds and music but it isn't soooooo loud as to be annoying. Also, the propeller is child-operated. A+ for this one.

Ambi Duck Family - Childs Bathtime Toy

Ambi Duck Family - Childs Bathtime ToyLikes

Like how colorful it is. But that's about it.

Cons

Baby ducks don't float well, always end up upside down

My two year old sometimes have difficulty fitting ducklings in the back of the mother

She is unable to open the back all by herself. Even I have some trouble with it

Mother sinks to the bottom of the tub once water gets in the opening which it always does of course. It's a tub full of water.

The point of ducks is to float. These do not float, they sink. Very dissapointing

Wonderful. I've given this item as a baby gift many times and they always loved it. Unexpected and great bath fun for years.

Plan Toys Preschool Stacking Bear

Plan Toys Preschool Stacking BearThis stacking Bear is SO adorable! It really is a creative and unique take on the ubiquitous stacking tower toy design you might find in most baby's toy collection, and the Bear's head on top is super cute! My 2 year old nephew loves it! It really keeps him occupied and it seems like he is really thinking and experimenting with the rings and shapes. The base has cute little teddy bear feet, and the teddy bear face topper is truly irresistible!

It can be stacked in different ways, using just the colored pieces or stacking the colored pieces alternating with the natural wood pieces which are in 4 different geometric shapes. For this reason, I think this will be a toy that will definitely "grow with" my nephew, since there isn't necessarily a "right" or "wrong" way to play with it. He can "discover" new things as time passes and as his motor skills advance. Ultimately, kids will start to figure out that each colored stacking piece has a corresponding wooden (geometric) shape piece that fits with it perfectly. I expect he will get a lot of use out of it. It is also very well-made and I love that the whole thing is made from eco-friendly sustainably-sourced materials. I've been really impressed with all the PlanToys items I've bought.

Little Tikes DiscoverSounds Tumblin' Music

Little Tikes DiscoverSounds Tumblin' MusicMy son got this for Christmas when he was just under six months old. At the time he was sitting up. He instantly liked playing with it and would sit in front of it for quite awhile gumming the shapes and pushing buttons. At 7 months he was crawling and would still sit in front of this for quite awhile, and he started to enjoy taking the shapes out of the tray. I would put them in their slots and he'd take them out the bottom. Now at 8.5 months he can put the circle into the correct slot himself. He still gets a lot of enjoyment out of putting things inside and taking them out. He puts things in that don't belong and tries to put all three shapes in the circle slot. This toy holds his attention longer than any other. My only complaint is that the shapes are awfully hard to push into their slots due to the little tabs that cue the music. My son can't push them in all the way without help.

Overall a great toy and it's definitely teaching him about shapes!

We got the music center as a gift when the baby was 8 months. From the very beginning my daughter felt in love with it. She doesn't use the shapes yet, but she definitely enjoys the music parts. She is 9 months now and she plays with it every day. Her favourite play is to press a key to start the music and then stand up and dance holding onto the handle (on the right). The only thing is that the toy is too tall, so when baby is using it to stand up it can fall. To avoid this I put it close to some furniture (cabinet or low bed) the way that the back part of the toy goes underneath the cabinet. This way even if my baby is pulling on the top of the toy it moves, but does not fall.

There is a little yellow piece that attaches to the top of the cymbal and it easily popped off and my 8 month old daughter almost choked on it!! The toy was brand new and she took the part off herself, I was so lucky that I was sitting right there and was able to quickly get it out of her mouth. I sent an email to the manufacturer but I would hate for anyone else to buy this product and have a child choke.

Melissa & Doug Toolbox Fill and Spill

Melissa & Doug Toolbox Fill and Spill2 granddaughters + 2 tool kits = two happy granddaughters.

I can't really rate the educational value until I see them framing a door or building a deck.

Melissa and Doug's Fill and Spill toolbox is a huge hit with both my granddaughter and grandson, 18 and 20 months of age, respectively. While the vibrating "power" drill was intriguing, they also enjoy "sawing" the Velcro-attached wood blocks apart and the other tools, too. I was very happy to find a safe and fun set of tools for young toddlers.

Buy Melissa & Doug Toolbox Fill and Spill Now

My son got this for his 1 year birthday. His favorite pieces are the screwdriver, saw and nails/screws. He will crawl around with them in his mouth and chew on the hard ends on the screwdriver and saw. My only concern is that the red die in the screw driver started to run and leak when he was drooling on the handle so I had to take it away.

We got this for my son's first birthday. The first kit had a drill that was broken (it didn't vibrate like it was supposed to), so we exchanged it for a second. My son LOVES to play with and chew on the various tools. The saw, hammer, ad screw driver are soft enough that he can play with them without our worries, but have a firm shape. He giggles every time we "screw in a screw" on his knee. He also loves the vibrating drill.

I bought this for my grandson last Christmas, just before he turned 2. The tools are soft and he could not get hurt on them. But he is way past the baby tools now. At 3 years old I would aim for the ones that are still plastic but are more realistic looking, with some functionality.

MOBI Tykelight AnimaLamp

MOBI Tykelight AnimaLamp, MonkeyLove this product. It is designed to be a night light for kids but I use it myself for reading in the dark, lighting up a room at night to check on my kids, etc. It is rechargable and gives you about 12 hours per charge. It will give you a soft to bright glow with the head down or up. You can adjust the brightness with a touch control and it is easy enough for a 2 year old to work it. My kids ages 5 and 2 love it! It is safe and light weight. Well worth the money.

I love this lamp from Mobi. It is adjustable and the bulb doesn't get hot. The light is just right for my grandson to use when doing his homework. The bendable neck is great for him to use to adjust the light. Comes in giraffe or bunny style too.

My daughter received a Mobi Glomate light for her birthday several months ago. We didn't charge it regularly and the battery now holds absolutely no charge. We don't have a receipt since she received the light as a gift. I decided to try calling customer service to see if there was anything they could do. I was quickly on the phone with a real person (I didn't have to spend a lot of time talking to a computer) and was instructed to send them an email with my mailing address and they would send out a replacement. Mobi informed me that they didn't currently have any Glomate replacements, but they could send me an Animalamp instead. The replacement Animalamp was on my doorstep 3 days later. I am very impressed with the fast responses I received from Mobi customer service and the replacement lamp is adorable. My daugher will love it!

Tiny LoveDVD MagIQ - Tickle the Lamb

Tiny LoveDVD MagIQ - Tickle the LambGOOD: I just purchased this item for my daughter and she loves it. I have only had this item for about 3 days now and she gets excited every time she sees me pick up the lamb. She is not quiet 3 months, yet she kicks her legs, waves her arms, and giggles the entire time the DVD OR the CD is playing. It really does manage to keep her attention the entire time it is playing. I especially like how the good-bye song at the end is so soothing. It puts her to sleep every time, so it is perfect for right before nap time. I would recommend this to any parent with a little one who needs just a few minutes to distract them. Gives you enough time to actually have some lunch yourself or even prepare dinner.

BAD: Although my daughter seems to adore it, a friend of mine's son is really frightened of the lamb. He likes the DVD just fine. However, ever since the lamb talked for the first time, he is really freaked out by it. He can not even look at it when it is turned off and not talking to or blinking at him. If possible, you may want to expose your child to the animal before you buy it, just in case.

This is my first review so bare with me...I bought this for my 8 month old and she drags it everywhere!! She laughs when the doll laughs its soo cute. She tries to have little conversations with the doll. When we are in the car she just holds on, talks, and squeezes until she fall asleep. I have not had any problems with this toy yet, but will try and keep you up to date. For now I recommend it. We will be buying the dog and cow for Christmas.

Buy Tiny LoveDVD MagIQ - Tickle the Lamb Now

I was so excited to get this new product for my 3 1/2 month old after reading so much about it. After we put in the batteries and played the DVD, I saw the "magic" happen. Of course, it was cute with the interaction between the stuffed animal and the DVD while it was playing, but here's the bad part. All the animals have a bellybutton where it transmits/receives the audio for it to interact with the DVD, but it is this very annoying, even blinding LED blue light. How can we even stare at the animal without getting blinded by the light? Not to mention, a baby's sensitive eye. The animal only says a few phrases that correspond to parts of the DVD, which I understand is all that is necessary for a 3-12 month old. The voice of the animal is rather frightful motherese tone, which was not soothing for babies. Don't get me wrong, my baby was staring at her new "friend", but she did wail at the beginning. Overall, I thought the product was not bad, but the reason I gave it such a low score was because of the bright LED light that makes it impossible to stare at the toy and the DVD content. After finishing the entire DVD the first time, I boxed the product back up and returned it the next day. For a product that is geared for babies starting at 3+ months, it needs more music. I think I'll be sticking to the Baby Einstein series because they actually get it right the first time. Don't waste your money on this product unless you want your baby to be blinded by the adorable little lamb.

I bought the cow for my daughter who is now 4 and still asks to watch her "cow" movie-i couldnt wait for her sister to be old enough to purchase the lamb. This is a very educational toy--my daughter loves it!!

Want Tiny LoveDVD MagIQ - Tickle the Lamb Discount?

This was given to my daughter as a Christmas gift when she was 4 months old. She absolutely loves this DVD. The only bad or annoying thing about the doll is that I can't always get it to work. You have to hold the doll in front of the TV speakers and it's supposed to sync up. Our doll just blinks instead of syncing so my daughter watches the video without the doll and enjoys it just as much. She especially loves when her adorable friends play "peek-a-boo" with her. She giggles the whole time.

The doll is definitely a great interactive toy but the DVD by itself is amazing too. My daughter holds onto the lamb while she watches and pushes his belly button.

I highly recommend this toy.

infantino Tag Along Chime Activity Trio....Ages 0

infantino Tag Along Chime Activity Trio....Ages 0Got this as a gift and have been searching for a 2nd one. My 9mo used to sit in any public high chair, bend down, and start knawing on the handle bar. This toy has been the perfect solution for my teething baby. It's soft and acts as a barrier against the germs left behind by others. Of course, I wipe down the chairs now too, but I really like this toy. I also love how the jingling animals are strongly attached, meaning my baby has something to play with, without the risk of it dropping to the ground. My only frustration is that I can't throw this in the washer with his laundry. It's a spot-clean only type of toy, which is more of a hassle. Overall a worthwhile toy if you can overlook that detail.

Silly Surfer Remote

Silly Surfer RemoteMy one year old LOVES our remotes. We'd reached the point where we were so sick of taking the batteries out and pocketing them (and occasionally losing them in the process) so she couldn't change channels or turn movies off on the rare occasions we sit down for some veg time I had to find a solution. Somewhere years ago I had seen a remote made just for toddlers that really worked for the DVD player but had only a few big buttons. I wanted to find it or something similar but no luck.

Then I found this one. I don't think calling it the "Silly" Surfer remote suits very well since it's not very funny but it has great sound effects and three language options! The light at the top lights up and it's just as big as a real remote. If this were sitting on my sofa with the others I'm certain a guest would think it was just another universal remote. Fortunately it's like the real thing enough my tot likes it and will accept the trade when she gets her hands on the real ones.

The price and shipping do make this a little expensive but not only is it a great toy (we used it as a stocking stuffer), it has been saving our sanity. I highly recommend this one for other parents seeking a nice "let mommy trade you remotes sweetie" option. I know it's been commented to us that we should just have bought a real one and not put batteries in it (cheaper) but this is child safe and with the light/sounds it's more entertaining for the little one.

My 14-month old son was always scheming to get his hands on our remote control. This has helped us keep his little hands (and mouth) from snatching it up and running for cover. He loves to play with this it looks like a real remote and makes lots of noises. So long as I put it down and let him take it rather than offer it to him, it's as good as the real thing.

This was the most "real" toy remote I could find. I leave it on the coffee table with the real remotes, so my son doesn't know it's fake. It keeps him away from the real ones, and he loves pushing the buttons. The battery door screws on, so I know he can't get to them. Well worth the price!

Bright Starts Cruise N' Sort Bus Toy

Bright Starts Cruise N' Sort Bus ToyMy little girl loves this toy, but unfortunately she also loves chewing on the shapes which have stickers on them that'll get soggy and come off. Had to take them away so she wouldn't eat stickers and glue. And I have to admit, I didn't check for BPA or PVC ...

I orginally bought this item for a friend's baby and when I saw how much my son loved to play with it I bought him one for Christmas. It is his go to toy at the moment. He is 11 months. From a parent's perspective it is very versatile in that it teaches kids basic shapes as well as hand eye coordination. The only downside to this are the stickers on the shapes which come off very easily when they put it in their mouths. I would def get this for a friend.

Buy Bright Starts Cruise N' Sort Bus Toy Now

All of the pieces are constantly in my son's mouth, so I agree with the other reviewer that the stickers/glue on the shapes are problematic. Upon opening, we soaked off the stickers so that we didn't have to worry about it. I should first say that my son (14mo) loves this toy. He likes to put the pieces in the bus, open the top, and drive it around. For that, I'm glad we have it. However, it's a terrible shape sorter. You can fit the star through the square, the octagon through the circle, etc. So....it doesn't teach shapes. It teaches "push any piece hard enough and it will go through most holes." But, like I said, he does love it. I just don't understand why a shape sorter wouldn't be designed better for that purpose.

Goki Wooden Sheep Mobile for the Nursery

Goki Wooden Sheep Mobile for the NurseryMy son loves his crib mobile , so I wanted something light that I could hand from the ceiling over his changing table. This is perfect-it's lightweight but serves its purpose perrectly! ( no anchor or big hole in the ceiling) my son LOVES this :)

This mobile is perfect! Simple, classic, and appears to be pretty durable! We lie that the pieces are wooden instead of plastic, a true quality piece that is actually affordable!

Bright Starts Tug Tunes Monkey- 4 Melodies

Bright Starts Tug Tunes Monkey- 4 MelodiesThis was a baby shower gift for my son. This monkey was perfect for my little boy. It plays fun music that I don't get annoyed by like many other baby toys. It attaches easy to many things. My little boy likes to chew on it. He can't really pull it for music on his own yet so either I do or my 4 year old does it for him.

I adore the music it plays! Not annoying at all. Very cute toy! Seems durable and my little guy can get a good grip on it to turn the music on.

My 5 month old loves this toy. It occupies her while we are driving and it is sensitive enough that she is able to pull on the toy to make the music come on by herself.

I bought the monkey version of this toy for my then-ten-week-old son to encourage his burgeoning interest in grabbing things. Though when I tried the toy in the store it seemed very easy to trigger the music, it wasn't until he was about sixteen weeks old that he was strong enough to do it himself. However, he was already interested thanks to the easy-to-grip leaf portion and the monkey's bright, engaging face. Now that he can make the music play, we hear it emerging regularly from the back seat (the toy lives on his car seat handle), but it hasn't yet driven us insane. (Parents, you know this is high praise.) The music is pleasant and not tinny, the clip is not too long, and the volume is easy to hear but also fairly easy to ignore.

Press & Play Jukebox ** 6 Months * Plays Music & Lights up * Infantino

Press & Play Jukebox ** 6 Months * Plays Music & Lights up * InfantinoThis toy is cute, but there is no off button! It is ON all the time! You can't put this in a toy box, or drawer because it will just start playing music by itself. It is very annoying. It lights up and plays music when you hit the buttons. But it lasts like 2 seconds, and then it stops. Its a cheap toy.

It really is a cute toy; press one of the three buttons and a song plays and lights start flashing. I bought it for my niece, though I have yet to give it to her, but I know she'll love it. The only flaw, which I guess isn't much to complain about, is that the music is definitely out of tune. The one I bought is specifically very flat. I know she won't know the difference, but I can't help but wonder if her listening to it will affect her ability to determine if something is out of tune when she is older. My brother would surely be disappointed if I were the reason his daughter were tone deaf.

This toy has good sound quality and the songs aren't terribly annoying like many children's toys. The songs are a bit short, so Mommy has to press the buttons frequently to keep baby appeased, but once baby can press them himself it should be better.

Overall, worth the price.

This little toy my son loves, just wish it had a on/off switch. This toy isn't extremely loud but loud enough to hear it. The music keeps my son entertained

Hooked on Phonics: Discover Reading - Toddler Edition

Hooked on Phonics: Discover Reading - Toddler EditionIf you're an engaged parent that already reads to your child then this product isn't going to help you. It comes with a few books, some flashcards, and a CD of music. There is no phonics learning in this kit.

My 2.5 year old already has a few hundred books, we already read to her twice a day, and we do active reading by asking her questions about the book and the pictures. That's the extent of what the parents guide is going to tell you.

Save your money, buy some board books, and wait until your child is ready for one of the older kits that actually has some phonics learning in it.

We follow the instruction and make the reading much more fun. The material were clear and easy to understand. My son is 3 now and he loves to read. He can pick up 50% of the words. We will continue to use the method.

Just recieved this for my daughter, and already I am excited. It comes with a great in-depth parent handbook, and tons of books, activites, a cd, and stickers. A great intro for a love of reading, learning and is a great way for them to continue building on a bond with you.

I ordered this same product from Target last year thru Amazon, and the price was $39.95 even with Target's $22 shipping it was a deal. This $279 is ridiculous, check the Hooked on Phonics site 1st I would never pay that much for this.
