I have purchased an embarrassing number of teething products for my son. He was a preemie and has had difficulty with motor skills particularly teething has presented a challenge. It seems like he had a really difficult time getting a teether onto the spot he was trying so intently to teeth on and then had even further trouble keeping the teether in the desired place. I have been really pleased with all of the boon products I have purchased for my son. They seem to approach their designs with no regard for what everyone else is or has been doing and so their products are unique as well as eye catching and always seem to be more functional for the given task than others around.

When I initially handed my son the gnaw he was impressed with the way it was able to move and he quickly got to work investigating its various surfaces. His Occupational therapist was also impressed with the gnaw and said it is the perfect size and design to help tune his motor skills so he gains control but designed so that when he loses control of the toy it is usually easy for him to pick it back up and gain control of it again without getting frustrated and upset.

I highly recommend this product to everyone but especially for teething babies struggling with their motor skills development this toy hits a home run!

I love this thing. It reminds me of the pacifier clip. However, in this case it is teething biscuits, carrots or apple slices that don't fall to the ground. After having lost 2 Sophies the giraffe, I even fit the two hind legs of Sophie into a "GNAW" and it has stayed with my daughter ever since.

First of all it is very difficult to find thugs to fit in it, secondly fOr my 6 month old, he would rather chew on the thin plastic pipe then the mesh, the mesh area is simply to big fOr his mouth, thirdly once the food gets sucked n chewed on from it how do u remove the gunk stuck the end of that mesh, toothbrushes n stuff don't work that good

This didn't stay on my son's shirt at all. The mesh end might be an innovative way to hold something, but I didn't even have a chance to find out because the oval end that's supposed to clip to the child's clothing does not stay on at all making it useless. My son took it off easily and started using it as a whip to hit his big brother. Fail.

My baby loves this toy! The bright colors and different textures really appeal to him. He will pull the mice out and play with them for awhile if he gets bored with the cheese. Good travel toy. very good product.

I just purchased this item at a local Target and I have to say, no other toy has kept my son's attention as long as this toy did. The balls pop like popcorn and the"drum" underneath it is activated to pop the balls every time something touches it. There is also a fun spinning rattle in the front that also activates the "popper." And fun music to accompany the movement. The balls can fall through a hole in the side and come out the dinosaur's mouth as well, and you can feed them into the popper with the dinosaur's tail. This is such a creative toy and also helps him with his fine motor skills as he is always trying to grasp the ball. It is also a great "cause-and-effect" toy if your baby is in that stage where he/she enjoys that kind of thing. My son is about 8 months right now and loves it! He has literally played with it for over a half hour and always goes back to it.

Truly the best popper on the market. I bought 3 others and they either did not pop right, or it did not hold a child's interest, or the balls flew across the floor and within 5 seconds all the balls flew out and the child was no longer interested. This new product is the BEST on the market.

We bought this for my son's first birthday, we thought he would LOVE it b/c it looked like a fun toy. Thing is it's kind of very loud and it scares him a little. We often have to show him it's ok to play with it before he plays with it. Once he gets comfortable with the noises it makes he will play with it for a good 30-45 mins (which is a long time for him). Now if it's turned off...it's one of his favorite toys! LOL The little balls are the perfect size for him to grasp and throw. It's great toy to teach kids cause and effect and hand/eye coordination.

My son is so simple. He would prefer to play with a solo cup over his fancy toys. However, nothing keeps his attention for too long. With that being said, HE LOVES THIS TOY! It is his favorite without a doubt! He can play with it for a good portion of the day. I love that this is washable! Most stuffed animals say surface clean only which is not sufficient with what most kids do to their animals. I put all my kids stuffed animals in the washing machine (despite the labels to the contrary) and of course they never look the same or are quite as soft...except for this one! Super cute bear. It's washable, which I love since my teething daughter drools on it. It's soft and cuddly. The bear is light enough that she was able to hold it at younger than 5 months old (it was a Christmas present for her). While it is "designed" in France, it is still made in China. I wish I would have known that before ordering. I really don't understand why the bear cost $20+ -I don't think it is worth the price tag. Overall though, I decided to keep it.

My grandson (3 yoa) wanted blocks so he could build a *tower* I looked all over, researching blocks, wanting something that he could build with, knock down, walk on, throw, kick, etc. He's, hmmmm, very active. All boy. I found a recommendation for these blocks written by a woman who'd purchased them for her now adult son said they'd held up over the years, and that even now he would come home and occasionally build something with them. She said that they were rigid enough, once put together, that they could be stood on and not collapse. That was good enough for me.

She was correct. I purchased a couple different types of these blocks; spent a couple of hours one night before Christmas putting them together and gave them to him in great big gift bags. He loves them. He builds towers and forts and walls, and knocks them down and puts them back up!! They are as nice today as they were over a year ago when I purchased them.

Tiny Love Follow-Me Fred Toy

I was very disappointed with this. It will not move at all. It made noise but that was all. I did some research and found this is a common problem. Trying to decide if I want to try another one. Looks like a very nice toy. I just hate returning items.

We got it for our 5mo old daughter for when she's older, but my son (2 and a half) started to play with it. It's a pretty fun toy, probably best for a 1-2 year old. Still, my toddler likes to see it move on its own and loves the little barking and music that it plays. Tiny Love doesn't use PVC in their toys (from what I saw on a webpage that lists pvc free toy companies). There aren't many toy companies which don't use PVC so this is a big plus for me.

Gund Crawl with Me Turtle Animated Musical 11.5" Plush

My daughter is not quite crawling yet, but she likes the Crawl with me Turtle. She dances to the music and gets upset when it stops.

I personally find the voice kind of annoying; the first thing my husband asked when he saw it was if there was a way to turn the voice off. (There is not.) Also, the turtle crawls VERY SLOWLY. It's definitely something your baby will not have trouble catching once they get moving!

I love the brand Gund. My daughter has a few Gund stuffed animals and I was excited to add this turtle to the collection. Turtles are also my moms favorite animal, so she was super excited too. I have never owned a Gund "animated plush".

First impression: When the toy arrived, the packaging threw me off a little. It came wrapped in a plastic bag and seemingly thrown in box. Um. Okay. No big deal, and may have been just a Vine thing, but it definitely was not "gift worthy" if you're planning on sending it as a gift.

The next thing I noticed was how study the turtle felt cool, that means it can handle my 15 month old. However, the four legs are thinly covered pieces of metal (not a very squishy toy). The rest looked exactly like the picture with accurate colors.

Crawling: This thing moves SLOW or not at all. Sometimes it just makes the motion. My daughter does not mind, and she still thought it was great. She was thoroughly entertained for at least 10 minutes* the first time we used it. My two cats also seemed to think it was pretty interesting as a bonus.

Sounds: The melody is fine, the words of encouragement become a little annoying. ("Crawl with me baby! Touch my shell! Now you got it baby!" etc) The sound is a cute (or creepy) happy little kid voice. I will mimic others and say that if I had to change one thing, I'd really really like an on/off switch for the sounds, because without it being "on" its just a semi-stuffed animal. It is a shame that it can't crawl and be silent. My daughter though does like the voice, and seems to enjoy touching the shell (activating the voice) of the turtle when she walks by.

Overall, I would recommend this toy. It is cute and fun, my daughter really loves it, my mom (nana) adores it, and for what it is a fun interactive toy, I really like it.

(*10 minutes it pretty good in toddler-time)

My daughter is close to crawling so I liked the idea of a turtle that would crawl with her when she started to crawl. The turtle says phrases such as "Crawl with me", "You're doing great baby" and "Catch me." These phrases are nice encouragement for the baby but for a parent, they start to grow old fast as does the music that plays as the turtle crawls. It only plays ONE song as it crawls, which I find to be monotonous and more song variety would make the turtle more appealing as would more phrases or just a music only option. She gets bored with him after a few minutes.

Another issue I found with the turtle is that he crawls really well on hard floors, but if you have a thicker carpet or put him on a blanket on the floor with the baby, he gets stuck and doesn't move very well. When he does crawl, he moves pretty slowly it would be nice if it had a mechanism to change the crawl speed as baby gets more proficient with crawling.

Overall, the idea was better than the delivery of this product. While my baby likes it fine, I wouldn't purchase it for the asked price though given all the downsides.

The only downside to this toy is how hard it is! It looks totally snugglable and it really is adorable in action, but oof, if a kid tries to cuddle it? There is some serious ouch potential. It's also quite heavy. But hey, that heaviness equals sturdiness, and it's still going strong!

Thomas and Friends Bathtub Squirters

My 3 year-old son LOVES tub toys, especially tub squirters, so I thought these would be perfect given his obsession with Thomas the Tank Engine. And truth be told, he does like playing with them. But ...

* they don't float upright! They float lying on their sides.

* they're stiff & difficult to completely fill with water. If you want the water to squirt out the top of the train's funnel (like steam) they have to be totally full and you have to squeeze pretty hard. It's too difficult for my 3 year-old. When only partially filled (which is normal) you have to turn them upside down to get them to squirt. They squirt well like that a nice steady stream but kind of defeats the purpose.

Overall, my son likes them, but does get frustrated when they don't float upright. He likes playing with them out of the tub too. But, if I would have know the above things, I'm not sure I would have bought them. Even though they are only $10.

My 20-month-old son is a HUGE Thomas fan, so when I saw these recently at a store, I had to pick them up for him. They're adorable!

They work like any other bathtub squirter -just fill them up with water and squeeze them to watch water come out the "smokestack." (You have to fill them up pretty full for it to work properly, as the water is being squirted straight up.)

My son also enjoys playing with them outside of the tub. They don't really roll, as of course they don't have working wheels, but he still likes to make them "chug" across the floor.

Original review from 2009: We don't use these as bathtub squirters often, but we do like them as out of the tub toys. Our daughter takes them everywhere! The scent doesn't bother me at all. We got them when she was about 18 months and at 22 months, they're still going strong.. although they have lost a bit of color from all of the teething she does on them.

Updated 3 years later (12/07/12): she still plays with these and turns 5 next week and they are still in amazing shape! Money well spent!

I purchased this soother (new) for my 4 month-old as a change from his overhead music mobile.

~PROS~

3 different time settings:

1) lights w/ music/sounds, and movement for 6 minutes

2) lights and music/sounds for 12 minutes

3) music/sounds only for 18 minutes.

real water bubbles in the soother which is pretty neat.

3 sound types classical, lullabies and rainforest.

3 sound levels high, medium, low.

easy activation by the press of a button on the face of the unit.

~CONS~

The lights are way too bright to be a "soother".

The straps that hold the soother on are difficult to use. Once it is one it's sturdy and not going anywhere though.

More bubbles would be nice as there aren't that many.

Uses batteries pretty quickly if you use this soother regularly.

~CONCLUSION~

Other than being too bright it is a welcome addition to our son's collection. I consider this to be more of an "entertainer" than a "soother" due to the brightness of the lights. We still prefer the:

Fisher-Price Precious Planet 2-in-1 Projection Mobile and use it more than this soother.

I love the product. When I got the package here is what I found.

-water leaking out of it

-dirty had to clean it up and get marks and strange sticky goo off it

I bought it under the premise of in good condition. I would say it was certainly less than that. Luckily, I cleaned it all up and my son loves to look at it at night before he goes to bed.

Little People Nativity Advent Calendar

I fell in love with this Advent calendar when I was looking for one to give my grandson as a first birthday gift. His parents are active in their church and would not have appreciated one of the many secular Advent calendars which are available. This colorful Advent calendar allows your little one to learn the true meaning of Christmas as he or she places a figure onto the Bethlehem scene each day. Further, the calendar does play a Christmas hymn when pressed at the appropriate point; this is particularly fascinating for younger children.

This calendar is made reasonably well. The figurines are finished with a top stitch rather than blind stitch; while I appreciate the fact that blind stitching might have added to the price, I would have preferred the figures to be finished with a blind stitch. The calendar does "droop" somewhat since there is no support along the top edge. I solved this problem by hand sewing loops of bias tape onto the back and inserting a thin wood strip that my husband cut in his shop.

Fisher-Price still has this calendar on their web site for $30. If you sign up for their notices and catalogs, you may be able to get free shipping on this item.

We absolutely loved this calendar that we orginally purchased directly from FP in 2009 for our son. We loved that we could teach our son the real meaning of Christmas. We all love it. This year we added a new member to our family and I knew we needed one just for our daughter too. The FP site sold out before I could order it so I turned to amazon. Unfortunately, we have now ordered two and neither have played the song "silent night" as stated in the description. Instead a nice white diamond shape is sewn over the words "press here". I selected this Advent Calendar for my grandson because he likes music and the calendar is supposed to have a button which, when pressed, plays music.

Another reviewer mentioned that some Fisher Price Calendars now have no music: instead of the "push here" button there is a diamond shape with no music.

I was willing to pay a LOT of MONEY for the musical advent calendar. Instead I received the non-musical one which I could have purchased elsewhere for twenty dollars.

Neat & Tidy Cottage

I have two daughters, ages 2 and 4 and they love playing house, having tea party's with the table and two seats included in the cottage, and talking on the phone (also included). Love how this playhouse has a floor. Easy to assemble (recommend an electric drill). You definitely can't beat the price. It is smaller than the other playhouses and would be difficult for an adult to sit in there. But the large windows make peaking in a breeze.

This house has all the features of the more expensive houses, for a better price. It was easy to put together (although the faucet doesn't connect to the sink as well as I'd like it to). The floor is wonderful, and after it rains or we hose it down, it drains very well-the only place any water collects is the sink and one of the seats. Don't leave the cordless phone in the house if it's outside though, ours got waterlogged and wouldn't stop ringing, I had to pull the batteries out and let it dry out again. The house isn't too big, no more than 2 kids can play very comfortably, but that wasn't a big deal for us. My son has been playing in it since he could cruise around, loves opening the door and shutters.

Our 18 month old daughter, Madilyn, absolutley adores her new house (BIG THANKS to Lolo and Lola who sent the $$$). My husband, his friend, and I put the house together in 30 minutes. We put it out in the backyard. It doesn't take up that much room at all (So if you have a small yard, this is perfect). She loves ringing the doorbell and going in and out (and in and out again). She likes to open and close the shutters to play peek-a-boo. She also loves the cordless phone that came with it...it looks like our real phone. She says, "Hel-lo" and hands it to me. The floor is very sturdy (I crawled in and sat in there with her). We live in an area that has A LOT of pollen. Yesterday we noticed that there was a layer of it on the floor. We just took the water hose and hosed it down. The drainage holes work great! She couldn't wait until it dried, so needless to say she came out with wet shorts. She fits perfect on the molded-in seats. If you have a larger toddler, it may pose a problem. There may not be enough space between your child and the table. She also loves to stick things through the mailbox. All-in-all this is an AWESOME buy. It keeps our daughter entertained for hours. We also bought the Step2 Water and Sand Table and the Step2 Big Folding Slide. Between all that, her two ride-on toys, and her sandbox, the backyard looks like a fun park! P.S. Be sure to have someone push against the table while you screw it in...the screw might not go in at all.

My daughter got this when she was three yrs old. She's 5 and half now and still has a ball playing in it with her girlfriends. They play house and sit at the table and eat lunch or play with Play Doh and just generally have a great time with it. We've had it over 2 yrs and it's holding up beautifully. We love the fact that we can see in and watch what the kids are doing and that it has a floor. I'd buy one again if I ever had a need for another playhouse.

We bought this house for our son's first birthday and he's having a blast exploring every inch of it. He loves to "talk" on the phone, open and close the shutters, and press the button on the faucet. It's keeping him very busy, and because it has a floor we've decided to keep it inside for now. That square patch of carpet won't get worn out from him constantly walking around in it.

The house was easy to put together. My husband had it set up in less than 30 minutes. As for the quality, I'd say it's excellent. I don't think a house like this was meant for big kids to play in, so it probably wouldn't hold up if your child is too old or heavy for their age. But it should be just fine for the average sized 1-4 year old, even a smaller 5 year old. Overall we're very happy with this purchase.

My daughter got this doll for her 2nd birthday. She is turning 3 in a few weeks and still plays with her everyday. She is a great sized doll for a toddler and very durable. This doll has gone on every grocery, and mall trip for a year, and still looks great! My daughter loves the opening and closing eyes and I love that the clothes can be removed and replaced without my help. Baby Calin can also sit on her own without a back prop, which I have come to learn is a very important part of play time.

This doll is a great value, and I would recomend it to anyone as a toddler's first baby doll. My daughter has "bathed", fed, dressed, put to bed, strolled and traveled with this doll everyday for a year! But most important, she has learned how to love and care for something else. And that is priceless.

I ordered this doll as a first birthday gift for my daughter. It seems like this doll was made just for her. It is the perfect size for her to carry around. It is also very durable. She also loves the way it smells. My older daughter even wanted to order one of these dolls for herself after she saw it! I thought it was well worth the price.

Considering all the concerns about the safety of toys made in China, I was happy to pay more for a doll made in France. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case as Corolle no longer makes the dolls in France, but in various countries in Asia and Europe. The one we ordered was made in China. The doll was cute as pictured and my daughter loves an older mini-Corolle that was passed down to her. This one is going back to Amazon though and I will continue to search for a doll that is not made in China.

This baby doll is perfect for my twin grandsons who have a baby sister and love to cuddle their own "baby". The doll was a big hit on Christmas when we gave them to the boys. They carried them around, put them in a cart to take them for a ride and seemed to enjoy playing with them. They are just beginning "imaginative play". These dolls are good additions to their toy collection.

Corolle dolls in general are of higher quality than other baby dolls -they smell and look better, and are well-made. My toddler loves this doll and calls her "Lola."

Tolo Toys Classic Trumpet

Very happy with this toy as a first trumpet. At 2 years old it wasn't appealing for my son who hadn't developed his air-blowing technique, and he lost interest (though he enjoyed when i used it and pressed the buttons himself). Now he is 2.75 yrs and proud that he can make the noise himself, so he chooses to use it more.

My Grandson is 19 months and loves whistles, this works great. Size is perfect. Opening for blowing is good for little ones and handle just right.

A lot of fun, but does not sound like a trumpet. Much more like some sort of small rodent being brutally tortured! I purchased this for my nephew; he loves and plays it all the time but his parents have not forgiven me since. Glad it's not at my house!!

Swim School Baby and Me Combo Boat

As a first time mom I was looking for something to use with our little guy (4.5 months old) on his first beach trip. Although I didn't really use this in the ocean it was GREAT to have at the pool. Made me feel safe with him in the water and I think it helped him from being overwhelmed in the pool. I'm hoping to still get use out of it this summer (he will be a year old). Highly recommend!

This is my favorite pool toy, including our grown-ups only ones. All the other baby floats we've purchased are annoying because you have to stand up in the pool the entire time while holding and pushing around baby's float, but not this one. I can float around with baby and just relax while playing with him. He also like it because my face is level with him, which always makes playtime more fun. Got this when my son was about 20 lbs, he's now about 30 and it still works great. My only complaint would be the "toy" in the middle (a plastic tube that has some shapes in the middle that you or baby are supposed to be pushed back and forth, but can't push back and forth because they just stick to the plastic tube)is useless, and I wish they would put something else there or just remove it entirely. But this is so minor compared with how many pros this product has, that I'm still giving it 5 stars.
