First Blocks
***UPDATE***
I contacted Haba regarding the high toxicity level reported on these blocks. Here is the reply I received;
Thank you for taking the time to write to us. Obviously you are a very educated and astute parent and for that I applaud you! We at HABA® really appreciate parents such as yourselves. Being a mom of two children myself and an "auntie" to 11 more children I can empathize.
Our HABA parent company in Germany was the first toy manufacturer in Europe to voluntarily send our items to an independent testing lab to get tested many decades ago. Mr. Habermaass still owns this family owned business and he is a grandfather now himself. You can read more about HABA at www.HABAusa.com in the About section. In fact in 2008 after the heavy recalls of China made goods many other toy companies from Europe and America decided to pull back from the USA market. HABA didn't, we actually embraced the new CPSIA laws President Bush signed just before the end of his term. Of course this new law put a heavy financial stress on all childrens' products producers and retailers but HABA endured. In fact our lead levels were already at the lower levels that the law required so we had to change very little. The HealthyStuff.org group and other interest groups such as these do not have the funds to send all of the toys to independent, CPSC authorized laboratories so they purchase equipment themselves and do many of their tests in house. These tests are not as perfect as one would get from a laboratory. That being said HABA abides by the CPSIA law and all products we import have the appropriate testing and those Certificates of Compliance are readily available on our website.
At one time this same organization claimed our marbles in our Marble Ball Track Construction Set (a wooden block set made for older children to build architectural designs for the marbles to roll through) had a harmful chemical in them. This interest group takes advantage of consumers' fears and announces their worst toy lists at the holiday times. We in fact had proof that the marbles were safe and that no chemicals that may have been in the marbles were in fact in a state that could be absorbed by a person's body, even if swallowed. In this case we did spend the money to hire an attorney and healthystuff.org had to do a recant on their findings.
Did you also know that HABA still produces all of our wooden blocks, that we know will be most likely put into a child's mouth, in Germany? It would be much less expensive for us to do what all the other companies are doing and move our production to China but Mr. Habermaass and our company philosophy is to remain as a German made company, at least for our wooden products. We can't find textile companies in Europe to make our soft goods or room décor but we're on the constant look out. We've also opened our own office in China so that we have our own staff checking daily on our production partners in China.
That all being said, our First Blocks are safe. This item passes all testing required and this item continues to be a best seller for us.
If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to reach out. Obviously your satisfaction is our #1 goal.

After getting this reply from them, I'm amending my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. In the end, each parents would have to make their own mind as to who and what to believe. It takes forever to build a company reputation and just a second to ruin it (unfortunately scare tactics works too well whether justified or not) and I want to give Haba a benefit of doubt.
The reason for 3 stars is that these blocks are more hit with my husband than with my baby.Colorful, well made blocks. There are not really enough to "build" anything, so I would suggest buying a set of Haba blocks that can be used with these, like the Fantasy Blocks. Please check healthystuff.org when purchasing toys. This item is rated HIGH for toxicity. Ridiculous. It takes an incredible amount of time and research to find safe, non-toxic toys for infants. My 6-month old daughter is fascinated by these blocks, right now mainly with the blue cube that has a jingle bell inside. While she is too young to stack the blocks, the bright colors, varied shapes, jingling noises and mirror are really appealing to her and she studies them intently. It's nice that this set is not just square blocks but includes round and cylindrical shapes that roll, and can see this being something she enjoys for a longgood quality time in ever-expanding ways. I like Haba products in general, which are made from nice woods and fabrics.

Disney Baby Princess Music and Lights Walker, Pink
the walker was easy to assemble, did it myself, but i was disappointed to find that although the box advertises it is for four months and up it clearly is not.
my daughter is going on eight months and cannot reach the floor in this walker. i am not sure if perhaps ours just has a defect and is supposed to go lower, but it seems to click into the lowest setting just fine it looks to be correct. but that's a four month difference and had i known that i would not have purchased it.
also, it's not the best walker in terms of your child getting around. the one i had before this had eight wheels and she could run all over and turn easily. this is one of the walkers where they can't really back up and/or turn easily which may be a bonus for some parents, but i found it to be annoying and my daughter gets frustrated in it after having one previously that could go anywhere.
OVERALL: it's very cute and in general it is well made. i just want to point out some of the flaws so you don't waste your money if your child is only four or five months old and you find they're stuck in the air because they can't reach!
4 out of 5 stars.
hope this helped! My third daughter is in 75%tile for height and her feet are 5 inches off the ground for this product on its lowest setting. As a result she banged her head on the toy in front as she couldn't reach the ground to stabilize herself. It was also very difficult to put the toys on top and required some screws to be taken out then put back in.
By the time she FITS in this product she will already be walking and will not need it!!
Im returning it today, cute, but much too tall, and no way for a 4 month old baby. I wont buy further products from them based on how unhappy we are with this product.
Unless your baby is built like Yao Ming, I would PASS;)

Bottom line.... false advertising...with intent to mislead consumers. My daughter is 8 months old and 28 inches and her feet STILL are not flat on the floor. This walker says from 4 MONTHS UP! No way... such a waste of money. The toys on this walker are incredibly LAME. Please DO NOT buy this.. you will waste your money. I have no clue how this walker has some good reviews because it simply is a piece of junk.Want Disney Baby Princess Music and Lights Walker, Pink Discount?
The front of the seat has three mounting buttons that should lock into the three mounting holes on the tray to secure the seat. After placing our granddaughter in the seat, we found that these buttons will not stay locked into place, causing the seat to fall in front. Another example of a company using popular Disney characters to sell poorly made merchandise.Sunday, May 11, 2014

I guess I expected this toy to do a little bit more then it does. Don't expect this toy to make any noise or to be terribly exciting. You stack the honey pots and that's pretty much it. I guess you can say the characters "pop" up, but mostly they just get pushed up. Having said this, I only paid $6.99 for it right before Christmas and was shipped to me free in 2days, so Iam not hugely dissapointed. My 15 month old doesn't seem to want to play with it much, but perhaps later on it will get played with more.Want Fisher-Price Disney's Winnie the Pooh Honey Pot Stackers Discount?
I got it cause it was cute and the characters pop when you stack them but my problem with It is the fact that you can't stack it anywhere you cant stack it on the carpet cause it tips over but you can stack it on hard floor so yea you can't play with it in a playpen Ether so if all you have is carpet this ant the toy for youSaturday, April 19, 2014

Lamaze Mix & Match Activity Blocks
How disappointing. Kind of annoying to pay for shipping to return this item. Not pleased. My son loved this from 2 months on. He is 6 months and still likes playing with these. It says spot clean only but I've run it through the washer a few times and it's still jingles, crinkled and entertains :D

As well constructed as any other Lamaze products (read: awesome), these blocks have been a success but perhaps not a 'hit' with our little girl (for hit, see Freddy the Firefly or Stacking Rings). She'll goof off with the plushy, connected blocks for a few minutes, but ultimately moves on to something that gives her a bit more freedom to play around. Still a great product, from a great company.Read Best Reviews of Lamaze Mix & Match Activity Blocks Here
My son doesn't play with this toy. I don't understand blocks that are attached to each other. It's cute and brightly colored. I like it a lot aesthetically, but it's not really much to play with. I'd buy something else.WheN I bought this item I thought it was four separate blocks, but they are actually attached which made it a perfect car seat toy. All the different textures are great. My son especially loves the crinkle block. It is a really well made product like everything Lamaze makesMonday, February 17, 2014
Green Toys Sand Play Set
You will not be disappointed with this set, based on it construction, if you don't lose a piece or two. It will last you for a long, long time.
UPDATE 5/2010
Just wanted to update this review. My girls are 3 years older and so is their play set. They are scratched up like any producted used in sand. BUT the color has not faded and NOT one crack any where. Even the rope used for the bucket is good to go. Now we left them out two winters and garaged the other one. BUT if not for the scratches the look good as new.I'd been waiting for this product to become available for some time. The product was more than I could have hoped for...no cheesy handle, instead it has a strong rope. It is very durable and, best of all, all three of our grandchildren love playing on the beach building sand castles. In fact, that have requested a couple more sets.

I bought these for my 3-year old and 17-month old to use in our backyard sandbox. I was so excited to find something that wasn't the usual primary-colored shiny plastic. This set is gorgeous, the pail has a strong and cool-looking rope handle. Our girls play with this every day. It was a great purchase. Not the sort of outside toy that you throw away at the end of the season, it's just so durable.Read Best Reviews of Green Toys Sand Play Set Here
This Sand Play Set from Green toys is definitely a Diamond in the Rough. It is nothing like the cheap plastic sets that will bend and disappoint. It is made from strong recycled plastic, that is BPA free, and is tough and sturdy for child's play. We bought two one for each of our toddlers and they love them. It is recommended for children ages 3 and above but our 2 year old plays with it just fine (just watch younger children who may poke eyes with the rake, or want to put it in their mouths though its safe).PROS
1. Eco friendly and safe for young children and is made in the USA.
2. The beach bucket has a strong rope handle, (so no bending or breaking away from the bucket like plastic ones do)
3. Durable and quite stylish
CONS
1. Pricey (but you can save a few bucks by buying it here on Amazon, which is much cheaper than other retailers and toy stores).
OVERALL
Worth every penny and will last a lifetime.I ordered this online after buying the Green Toys cookware set, and was just as pleased with this as I was the cookware. Very durable, nice colors, great thick rope handle on the bucket. Outshines any flimsy sand play set you might find in a toy store. My 17 month old son plays with it in our backyard sandbox and I look forward to taking it with us to the beach this summer. I look forward to seeing what other toys this company produces.

Taggies Clickety Twist Toy
He likes to manipulate the hoop/rattle at the end, briefly, but the twisting of the segments is way beyond him, even now at 8 months. So it just sort of sits there. For whatever reason, the tags that are the hallmark of this brand are totally uninteresting to my child.
Having said all that, I will say that because the toy seems of good quality,it gets three stars. I think a review should balance how much a particular baby enjoys a toy (here, not very much) with how well-made the toy is (very). And I think there may be a future for this toy in our house. Like so many things, what the baby doesn't like one day is a favorite the next day. Just not super-recommended for younger babies.I purchased the Taggies Clickety Twist for my 8 month old grandson who finds the tags on every toy, blanket, and article of clothing! He loves it! I also purchased a Taggies book that keeps his attention for a significant amount of time.

Great for a child of this age.We ordered this for our daughter's first Christmas a year and a half ago, and she STILL enjoys playing with this toy. The clickety noises, the colorful characters, and the silky taggies keep her entertained. My son didnt really seem to be intrested in this toy. Parents Magazine Bee Bop Band

I love that the instruments are brightly colored and fun. It's also fantastic that they store within the drum itself (with space for other instruments; we use the drum to store all the music toys we can, and there's enough room). The drum can be worn around your little one's neck, and my daughter has worn it as a drum, as a pretend container for snacks when she was pretending to be a vendor at a baseball game, and as a snack bowl with easy access so it has more potential than you'd expect! We've had the toy through three years and two children (who play roughly), and other than a few stickers that my daughter has added to the set, they're like new.
When I got this, it also included a coupon for a free year's subscription to Parents magazine. That was a definite positive, and I enjoyed the magazine not enough to renew it at the end, but enough to read it cover to cover for the year I had it.I got this for my daughter on Christmas. She love it! (18m old) IT doubles as a carrier so the toys don't go everywhere when she's done. She watches a show called, "Jack's Big Music show" and it fits with the show soo well. The only real gripe I have is with the xylophone. There are 6 bells but only 3 notes (both sides are the same except for color). Plus they seem to be bolted down a bit too tight so it doesn't sound a clear as it could. But over all it's been a great toy for her. I recommend it!This toy is sold at Target for 22.00. Do not buy off this site... it is ridiculously over priced. But it is a wonderful set.

Baby Dolls: Kira Doll by Kids Preferred
Although her colors are faded, she has held up through many washes and her dress is still soft a year later. My little girl was given this doll when she was born. She and the doll are now almost 3 and they are still playing strong. Through all the washings and chewing etc. this doll has held up and stayed good looking. She won't put it down.

I bought this for my niece as her first doll. She opened the gift box and grabbed baby Kira out of the box exclaiming "baby". This is a wonderful doll for young toddlers because it is so very soft & plush. I didn't give it many stars for educational because it is not very detailed; there are no fingers, toes or a belly button. The most important part for her mother is that baby Kira is washable.Read Best Reviews of Baby Dolls: Kira Doll by Kids Preferred Here
Bought this at Scholars Choice, and our daughter loves it and is taking it to bed and just about everywhere now. She is now nearly 2 years old and because we are so worried she is taking this around everywhere, we bought a second one as a "replacement" if the first gets lost or damaged. Or just as a switch for when the other one is in the laundry! ;-)Oh my gosh! What a precious doll! I just bought it for my 1 1/2 year old niece. This doll is just the right size for her and as soft and cuddly as can be! I can't wait until my niece opens it on Christmas morning. I have heard that it is completely machine washable. I hope so, because this doll is going to see a lot of play time!Friday, January 17, 2014

This security blanket was so cute. I ended up using it for the topper on a pink/animal print diaper cake. It was perfectmom truly loved it!Love it! We have three! The silky lining sometimes gets snagged and that's my only complaint. Seems to hold up well in the wash so far.She loves this blanket so much she snatches it from me when I go to give it to her. She is now 3 months old. She loves it and she loves playing with the elephant on it. Its soft and she wraps her arms around it and cuddles it to sleep. She loves having it in her car seat for rides she grips it. I should of gotten 2 so when I am washing it she isn't looking for it. I have washed a few times and still looks new.Friday, January 3, 2014
Playskool Busy Gears
It is very durable as he carries it around, has chewed on the gears (which are made of strong plastic and cannot be marred by chewing on them).
My three year old also likes to play with it! Her play is a little sofisticated with it as she tries to figure out which gears have to be put where (as in, do they have to be next to the middle spinning one) placed to make them spin and how many can be stacked and they still turn.
My one wish is that Playskool would include a few extra gears. We have them everyhwere in our house and cannot always find them all. It would be great if they had a place where you could purchase extra ones for replacements and/or to have extras for stacking.
This is an awesome toy that the kids love, can learn from, and is very durable! It is a must have!!My daughter Hannah received this as a gift for her first birthday. She loves the music and presses the button to just listen to it play. We didn't think she'd figure out the gears, but she absolutely loves it! she takes the gears off and puts them back on! She totes them around the house in her little basket, and then brings them back to put on the toy. She'll sit in front of this toy for 20 minutes at a time, walk away and then come back to play some more.
My only issue is that the gears are starting to get lost around our house. Hasbro should provide a few extra gears for when the first few get lost. Overall a terrific toy!!
Read Best Reviews of Playskool Busy Gears Here
I purchased this toy for my one year old after reading glowing reviews. The toy is okay but not terrific. It holds my child's attention for a much shorter time than her other toys, although other children may enjoy it more.Pros
The turning mechanism is safe enough not to pinch little fingers, just a little bit of pressure stops them from turning.
Taking the gears on and off encourages dexterity.
Cons
The music is terribly annoying after a short while (although this is true of most baby toys).
The toy can't be carried by the handle because the gears fall off.
There are no spare gears provided so unless you are very diligent about keeping this toy together some will be lost.

My 1-year old enjoys this, but there's really not much to it. You push the button, it plays a tune, then the gears spin. My son can easily pull the gears off and put them back on, and he frequently will hold the center gear so everything stops.I do wish there was a little more to it, but it is very cute for what you pay for it.
FYI, make sure the switch on the back is set correctly. We didn't realize it was set to DEMO and it barely played any music at all. Now that it is set right it plays a variety of short tunes before & after the gears spin.
