My 9 month old grandaughter loves her" babies". Soft, simple and multicultural, the ir perfect.Love how the clothes slip off and on so easily.Want Basket of Babies Discount?
I read a lot about the importance of children having a baby doll both boys and girls, and a lot of the dolls out on the toy market seemed aimed at little girls, and I wanted something unisex/culturally diverse so I was happy to find Basket of Babies. The babies come in a basket and wear little sleep sacks kids can take on and off (the hat stays on the baby). My son loves the doll wearing green and carries him everywhere, and likes to "tuck the babies" into bed.
Great toy for toddlers to preschool age.

B. Hellophone - Sea/Pattern
Buy B. Hellophone - Sea/Pattern Now
This is a pretty good toy cellphone for kids. Its big feature is that it lets you record a message that the kids can then play back with a button push. It has a nice feature that there is a hard to find lock button that locks in the message. I have two complaints about this, it's one of our kids go-to toys for the car so it gets a lot of wear, and it only seems to be moderately durable, we are on our second one. One feature I wish this has is the ability to record multiple messages instead of just one. Another thing I like about it is that when you close it calls back with a ring after 20 or so seconds, its a cute feature and very fun for the kids.Read Best Reviews of B. like all of you I'm sure, your babies are fascinated with your phone. Well this is a good alternative to have them play with. Being a flip up style phone it is a little out of date nowadays w/ smartphones, but your baby wont know the difference. The numeric keys make a simple 1 note tone when you press them (like a real phone), the * and # keys play a little music (soft music, not annoying), and then there are two top buttons above the number keys: one plays two phrases (one kid asking to play, one mother-type voice saying I love you) and the other key allows you play anything you record. It is nice having the ability to record your own voice for your baby to hear.
I really appreciate that the phone pretty much only makes noises when the baby actually pushes a button. I have so many other toys at home that advertise teaching "cause and effect" through noises, but in reality they just play music/make noise constantly. The baby surely has no idea what he/she is doing is making the noise. But with this phone, press a key and it makes a simple note. That's it. Very clearly demonstrating that the button press makes the noise.
There are some cons in my mind: the record feature has a "lock" at the bottom of the phone so that your recorded message doesnt get erased. This lock is pretty easy for a baby to switch on/off. Also, the clamshell design has no lip/groove for the baby to easily open the phone. Sometimes my little girl brings me the closed phone in an effort to have me open it for her. One more note --any time you close the phone, the phone rings. If you dont "answer" it, it will stop ringing and be off. But it's still kind of annoying that it rings EVERY time you close it.

We have a couple play phones, my son (16 months) is obsessed with phones, everything gets put to his head as a phone. He loves buttons of all kinds too. This phone is a bit better than some of the other options out there. When you hit the number buttons it beeps, just like a real house phone. When you close it, it rings, prompting them to open it again (this only happens once so you can leave it close, but is something to be aware of if you're trying to put it away without your child noticing, lol). The plus on this is that it can be put away without the buttons accidentally getting pressed (or toy stepped on at night in the dark making noise when you just finally got your child to sleep etc).
I love that you can record your own short message on the phone, it also has a button at the bottom to lock the recording, so it doesn't get written over accidentally.
Other buttons play music or have other voices talking saying 'hello' etc.

Green Toys Sand Play Set
You will not be disappointed with this set, based on it construction, if you don't lose a piece or two. It will last you for a long, long time.
UPDATE 5/2010
Just wanted to update this review. My girls are 3 years older and so is their play set. They are scratched up like any producted used in sand. BUT the color has not faded and NOT one crack any where. Even the rope used for the bucket is good to go. Now we left them out two winters and garaged the other one. BUT if not for the scratches the look good as new.I'd been waiting for this product to become available for some time. The product was more than I could have hoped for...no cheesy handle, instead it has a strong rope. It is very durable and, best of all, all three of our grandchildren love playing on the beach building sand castles. In fact, that have requested a couple more sets.

I bought these for my 3-year old and 17-month old to use in our backyard sandbox. I was so excited to find something that wasn't the usual primary-colored shiny plastic. This set is gorgeous, the pail has a strong and cool-looking rope handle. Our girls play with this every day. It was a great purchase. Not the sort of outside toy that you throw away at the end of the season, it's just so durable.Read Best Reviews of Green Toys Sand Play Set Here
This Sand Play Set from Green toys is definitely a Diamond in the Rough. It is nothing like the cheap plastic sets that will bend and disappoint. It is made from strong recycled plastic, that is BPA free, and is tough and sturdy for child's play. We bought two one for each of our toddlers and they love them. It is recommended for children ages 3 and above but our 2 year old plays with it just fine (just watch younger children who may poke eyes with the rake, or want to put it in their mouths though its safe).PROS
1. Eco friendly and safe for young children and is made in the USA.
2. The beach bucket has a strong rope handle, (so no bending or breaking away from the bucket like plastic ones do)
3. Durable and quite stylish
CONS
1. Pricey (but you can save a few bucks by buying it here on Amazon, which is much cheaper than other retailers and toy stores).
OVERALL
Worth every penny and will last a lifetime.I ordered this online after buying the Green Toys cookware set, and was just as pleased with this as I was the cookware. Very durable, nice colors, great thick rope handle on the bucket. Outshines any flimsy sand play set you might find in a toy store. My 17 month old son plays with it in our backyard sandbox and I look forward to taking it with us to the beach this summer. I look forward to seeing what other toys this company produces.

Little Tikes Classic Alligator Teeter Totter
The girls love to play together on the toy, and when the older two are in school, the youngest one likes to play by herself. The alligator teeter totter has provided hours of fun for them, and it encourages sharing. It encourages them to work together by being gentle with each other, allowing each other to get on and off of the toy, and by working out seating arrangements (instead of saying, "NO! MY seat!" all of the time).
This is definately the best toy that we have gotten for our children yet. I am so glad that my aunt got it for them for Christmas, and I cannot wait to show her the pictures of how happy the girls are! Thank you Little Tikes for such a wonderful toy!!It is very durable and a very fun toy for the kids. The only educational thing about it is that it teaches the kids how to share and take turns in different spots. But it can be in the house as a toy if it is raining or snowing outside.
Buy Little Tikes Classic Alligator Teeter Totter Now
This is a great little teeter totter. It's everything I'd hoped it would be, which is fantastic, since I ordered it sight-unseen. It's not available locally, and although I got free shipping it's not exactly cheap, so it was kind of a gamble. Here are the things I really appreciate about it: It's made in the USA, not China. It's pretty cute and seems durable, save for the very likely possibility of the eyes and 'Little Tikes" plates falling off. It seems much safer than metal-frame teeter-totter/seesaws available. If you're using it as an outdoor toy on the grass, there's not a lot to get hurt on, as the plastic (LDPE, I believe), is soft and has some give, the handles are rounded and coated with soft, grippy vinyl, and it's relatively low to the ground.
I had wondered if the age range listed was actually appropriate. My girls have just turned two and four. Would this toy be too advanced for my two year old? Would it be too laid back for my four year old? Well, yes and no, is the answer.
When we removed it from the package, both girls hopped on in the appropriate spots and began rocking to and fro. Despite my encouragement for the four year old to take it easy, she rocked wildly and the two year old became, understandably frightened. Tiny kids get a good bit off the ground with this one. Since that first ride, my youngest will only sit in the center seat, which is fine I suppose. Unless the angry four year old demands, "No!!! Sit on the other end!"
With neither child willing to budge an inch, literally and figuratively, I was left rocking the other side with my foot for what felt like an eternity. They enjoyed that immensely: Letting mom do all the work is awesome!
Now, let me just put it out there that this was not the blissful experience of two (or more!) children rocking themselves joyfully, peacefully, all the while learning the art of sharing and cooperative play that I had envisioned. I mean, those kids in the stock photo look like they might actually be having fun! Well, actually now that I scrutinize, only one of them is smiling while the other two look a bit apprehensive, so maybe they snapped that photo moments before the other two began freaking out.
Anyway, my ankle began to go numb after going on like this for quite awhile, and I had to have a break. Since I was the one doing all the work, the kids were full of boundless energy and unresolved frustration with one another. So, after a good bout of screaming and insanity we all retreated (some of us less willing than others) to our respective corners to cool off a bit.
Now, in a perfect world, where children act like something you might see on the Cosby show, this would be a really fantastic toy because it does exactly what it is supposed to do and has the potential to entertain toddlers and preschoolers alike. Even a four year old is raised off the ground a bit on the upward motion, and given the right temperament any pair of kids *could* have a rollicking good time. Even the difference in weight (one 25 lbs, the other 37 lbs) didn't seem to hamper the movement of the teeter totter, near as I could tell from our brief demo of the proper use of the thing. I could imagine two older kids on this thing could also get it spinning a bit whilst rocking (the bottom of it is kind of slippery). And, as another reviewer stated, there's adequate room for 5 small kids. However, we don't have 5 good 'time out' spots in our house, so I might just avoid this possibility.

Lamaze Board Book
Read Best Reviews of Lamaze Board Book Here
Our baby loves this book. True, it's not very long, and it doesn't "make" sounds. Each page has a picture of an animal, the spelled word of the animal, and the spelled sound the animal makes. It doesn't make the sounds for you, that's your job. "See the CAT? The cat says, "MEOW." I started reading this book to my baby at 4 months old. At five months our baby was actively touching the animals and turns the pages. The pages are super thick (thicker than typical board books) and can't be easily damaged. I will be ordering another one of these.Want Lamaze Board Book Discount?
Alittle overpriced in my opinion. Heavy pages and great little book. Too pricey for what it is.Actually thought there was sound with it. Would like to have seen the inside before buying.

green sprouts Stacking Cup Set
I gave this 4 stars (I would have given it 4.5, if that were possible) because they are NOT dishwasher safe. The toxin-free cornstarch resin that they are made out of will warp in the high heat of the dishwasher. So it's a little inconvenient to hand-wash all the little cups when they get dirty, but for me it was worth it to buy a safe and inexpensive toy.My wife bought these cups because we wanted a set that was BPA, PVC and phthalate free. Can use them in the tub since the cups have holes on the bottom.
Buy green sprouts Stacking Cup Set Now
These cups are a disappointment. We ordered them to replace an older set we were given and loved. They looked like an ideal replacement. Unfortunately the lip on the bottom of each cup is too slight for the cups to stack well. Everything else is as we anticipated. We are keeping the cups since they are good for the bath, but we're still looking for cups that stack well. These worked out great as entertainment for our 18 month old daughter on transatlantic flights. We came up with all sorts of quiet games to play with the cup. Stacking and nesting, tea party, counting, matching the colors, and more. Small and compact. Took up no room in our carry on and really kept her busy. Our daughter has always loved the bath. When she was ready for toys, we went straight to duckies. She liked to suck on the duckies heads, but she never really played in the bathtub until we got these cups. Simple? Yes. Fantastic? Definitely. These have different little holes in the bottom of them, so they sink, float, water drips out slowly, quickly, and she loves to run her fingers under the stream. At 9 months, now she's clapping them together and drinking out of them like a cup (oops! we gotta watch that in the tub!). We have a few more toys that do similar things, but nothing beats the simplicity and versatility of these stacking cups.Friday, October 25, 2013

As I'd hoped, the Brio Ant is as colorful, durable and entertaining for my grandson as the Brio pull toys I'd bought my daughter 30 years ago. No worries about batteries or mechanical noises with this. Great product from a good company! It's an interesting toy, but my son hasn't taken to it yet. My son just likes to grab the egg on it.
