Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn™ Magnetic Cookie Puzzle

I would have purchased the magnetic cookie tray even if it didn't light up and make noise. My 1 1/2-year-old son loves to push the gingerbread man (who, by the way, doesn't come out like the other cookies--he's just a button) and play with all the cookies. It's cool that the cookies can, to some extent, stick to each other, and it's really nice that they don't fall out of their spots easily. Apparently the magnets also help the toy sense which side of a cookie is up, because it responds differently to one side than the other.

When I was considering buying the tray online, I couldn't find any pictures that helped me figure out what the back/bottom sides of the cookies looked like. They're just plain-colored, with a thick indented line following the shape of the edge. I also wondered what the sound was like. The gingerbread man's voice is high-pitched and extremely enthusiastic as his buttons light up and he cries out, "I love yummy cookies!" and "Making cookies is fun!" He announces what type of cookie each is as it's placed in the tray. There are also two cookie-related songs to the tune of "London Bridge" and "Someone's in the Kitchen with Dinah."

The description of cookies may cause confusion in some cases. Each cookie has two different descriptions, like "yellow square" for one side and "rough cookie" for the other side. As the cookies are placed in the tray, the sounds can interrupt each other--so if you put the rough cookie in right after the squishy cookie, the gingerbread man might cry out, "squishy rough cookie!" And, frankly, the squishy cookie isn't THAT squishy--it's just a little tiny bit squishy, so I'm not sure it'll get the concept across.

The main thing I would change about the tray, though, is the power switch. If I can't change the volume, I'd at least like to be able to turn the sound off once in a while. But the switch is really easy for my son to flip, and the "off" setting is between the "music" setting and the "learning" setting. Therefore, the chances of the toy ever staying off for long are minimal. In fact, the switch of one of the trays we ordered on eBay got bumped in transit, so that high-pitched voice was singing songs as I opened the box!

All that said, my son and I really think the tray is fun, and I think this is the kind of memorable toy our family will still be talking about for years to come. I'm very glad we got it; I love the colors and shapes; it's a very endearing product.

Additional note, 11/26/06: Recently, the cookie tray has been spontaneously making sounds on its own if we leave it on. Maybe this is a warning system, like when a smoke detector beeps because its batteries are dying? This issue still wouldn't keep me from buying the tray, but it's a good idea to turn the toy off if you don't want to know when the gingerbread man is craving attention.

Additional note, 12/11/06: Another new development is that lately the gingerbread man has been occasionally ignoring a cookie when it's placed in the tray. Then, when a second cookie is returned to the tray, the gingerbread man calls out information for the previous cookie. So if my son puts in the bumpy cookie and then the smooth cookie, we'll hear "bumpy cookie" for the smooth cookie. I will definitely try new batteries when I get a chance, but the sound isn't warped & slow or anything.

Additional note, 1/31/07: With new batteries, the gingerbread man is still "possessed." No big deal--we'll just try to keep the tray turned off when not in use.

My daughter received this puzzle as a gift when she was 10 months old. She loves to sit with Mom or Dad and put the pieces in. She dances to the music and is now, at 12 months, learning to pick the piece by color. Another great educational toy from Fisher Price.

My daughter has been playing with this puzzle for a long time we got it before she was even 1 year old. It's great because the shapes are simple, so they're easy to fit into their correct places. Plus, the magnet feature helps your child get the cookie into the hole once they have it close, the magnets pull the cookie into place. And then, of course, music plays and lights go off ... great positive reinforcement! The cookies sit into place on either side and the toy still recognizes them. The gingerbread man (only a button) sings and lights up when pushed. There are also 2 settings for this toy a musical setting and a learning setting. That's great because this toy really grows with your child! This toy is another fantastic product from Fisher Price!

Holgate Express Pull Train HZ1789

Wanted to buy toys Made in America for Christmas for my grandson and this was one of them. When it arrived I really checked it out and it was very well made and durable. He's a thrower and hopefully he won't throw this or there will be some dents in the wall because this is solid and well made. Very colorful and i'm sure he'll have fun playing with this for years to come.

This train is so cute! I love it and it's great for photos. More importantly, our son loves it. We bought it for him at 14 mths, but he wasn't really into it until closer to 18 months. It gets a lot of use. He loves to study the cars and pull it around. The paint and cars have held up very well to his rough and tumble ways. BUT, the wheels will come off over time. It's been a year and I've had to reattach the wheels often. The holes for the screws strip, so I finally used wood glue on the screws to re-screw the wheels in place. This seems to work well. I'm glad I found a solution because it really is a fun toy. My now-26-mth-old really enjoys it. Just use caution if your little one might put a loose wheel in his mouth.

Corolle Babicorolle Pillow Soft 11" Babipouce Doll (Sorbet)

Cute baby doll, very soft and has fun things for baby to grab. Smells kind of like vanilla, which is ok I suppose, but it makes me wonder what chemical they sprayed on the fabric to make it smell like that?

This is such an adorable, soft, cuddly, and nice-smelling doll! My daughter is now 13 months (she got it for Christmas at 11 months old) and she's not a huge doll girl yet but when you hand it to her, she'll give it a big hug. We can keep it in her crib without worrying about her pulling off the clothes or accessories because everything is sewn on. We haven't machine washed it yet but it's reassuring to know that we can if she really starts to play with it and carry it around everywhere. I think this is a great starter doll because you can't play dress up or anything that older girls will want to do with their dolls. The clothes don't come off and the Corolle accessories (bottles, diapers, snacks, strollers, etc) are geared to the other Corelle dolls, not this one. But for a baby, this is perfect.

I got this bear for my son in a hospital gift shop after he had a horrid bout with the flu by the time we got home, he was fast asleep, cuddling his new bear. The color is a bright, dark red, and the corduroy is a bit on the wider wale side. It's also perfect cuddling size :)

My First Princess - Funtime Jasmine

I purchased the princesses in a hard plastic doll style. My little girl never plays with them hardly. She likes to hold and cuddle her toys, so I've slowly been purchasing them in their soft forms...they still have the plastic head, so the features more closely resemble the princesses over the dolls that are soft in their entirety. She tends to play with the soft dolls much more, and is able to sleep with them as well.

First of all, I want to state that I expected Rusty to be a few inches tallhe's huge! It made me that much happier because the details and colors are that much better. I bought it for my 4 month old nephew but my 2 1/2 year old nephew has made claim to it. He loves that the head spins. He loans it to his little brother when he cries and the baby just hugs it and laughs. Rusty is even cuter than pictured and apparently it's not just for babies! I highly recommend this toy. Not to mention the price is right.

We bought this for our son who was 7.5 months at the time when we were flying cross-country. I bought two new toys for him for the 5 hour plane ride, and this was one of them. He has a total of four Lamaze toys and has really taken to this one and the Giraffe. Not so much for Mortimer the Moose or Eddie the Elephant. On this toy, our son chews on the two rings as teethers, and likes chewing on the green things sticking out of the robot's ears. Between his fingers, he plays with the ribbon on the robot's feet. This robot does not have a squeaker, like other Lamaze toys, but the head turns and makes a clicking sound. Definitely a lot of sensory items on this toy, and a definite good buy on Mommy's part for a long tripbut it has continued to be a good buy 5 months later. I would recommend this Lamaze toy for other baby boys.

My 7 month baby loves this toy. Its a great size and has lots of things to keep him busy with his hands and mouth, especially since he is actively teething. This is really great toy that is a perfect larger size toy for our baby. I am able to clip it on my son's high chair, my Boba 3G carrier, even myself and it hangs to a decent length so he can reach for it and grab it and chew and explore. I am truly pleased that I found this terrific toy and that is a good size and has a lot to keep him entertained and distracted from his teething pain as well as keeping him occupied. Oh, and this toy's head rotates! How cool!! :-)

At first the Farm Roller scared the heck out of my grandchild, but she got over it very quickly once she realized the friendly sounding "thing" rolling towards her was soft and did not hurt. In fact, once I sat her up on her riding horse, she was able to kick it hard and it always came back which was a delightful treat! She giggled and wanted to do it over and over again. Then she was ready to get on all fours and hit it with her hand. It's a wonderful toy to promote crawling and overall delight in a child. I intend to buy more as gifts for my friends who are soon-to-be grandmothers. I like that it can be deflated to store when baby outgrows it. I wanted to get my little one a toy bar for our infant carseat/carrier. This one looked great! I bought it, and it fits easily on the carrier. The problem is...when you strap it on where it's supposed to go, it's too high on the carrier handle for the baby to see. If you lower it so the baby can see it, then it's so close to his face, it looks like it will hit him. I'm not pleased with this one...still looking for something that will work for us!

I would really like this toy bar if it weren't for the fact that it takes 3 watch batteries to run on. Really? THREE WATCH batteries?! What were they thinking? It costs more to buy the batteries than the toy bar itself. Ridiculous.

Fisher-Price Little People Builders Classic Shapes Blocks

My son was given a Little People bus filled with the Little People blocks when he was 12 months old. He has been banging the blocks together since then, and learning how to put them together. These blocks are large enough that I didn't worry about him choking on them. Now that he is older (20 months), I wanted some additional blocks for him, but didn't want to have to buy a Little People jungle or other some such kit, all I wanted was blocks to expand on what we have already. I didn't want to change brands, since his blocks attach to the bus carrier that we have already. These blocks fit the bill perfectly! There are several arches, roof shapes, and round and square blocks to help him build more complex shapes. They come in several colors so we can work on naming colors as he builds, can work on shapes (round and square, big and little) and they are easy for him to hold and push together. I actually bought 2 of these, one to keep at grandma's house! I'm very happy with my purchase!

My daughter had the little people builder wagon so I wanted to extend the set she had...I wish I never would have bought the wagon so I could have bought better blocks. For a Fisher Price set this is really disappointing! As a few other reviews mentioned these blocks DO NOT stay together-which defeats the purpose of blocks. Currently my 18 month old enjoys playing with them because they are brightly colored & new and can't get many together...but as she grows I know we will both be even more disappointed. For the price this is a rip off.

I thought this set would be a great starter set for my son. He isn't too interested in building with them yet, but gets the concept when I build something. I am a little disappointed that some of the blocks don't fit together very well. Some of them don't "lock" together and are easily taken apart, rather fall apart. We will have them out for his building skills, but will likely get another set once he gets the hang of building. For the money, it's pretty good, I like the many different shapes, but would prefer them fitting together better.

We bought this for my 6 month old son per advice of a friend that recommended blocks. The bag is a nice storage compartment that my son will tip over and it makes him laugh, but the block quality is another story. While I will stack them and my son knocks the blocks over, a lot of times the blocks collapse on their own. I have used Lego Duplo's and they stick together like traditional legos where as these blocks can barely hold four pieces on top of another.

Tolo Toys First Friends Tractor Trailer

I bought this for my 16-months-old son for Christmas. He loves anything that has four wheels on it. This tractor and trailer set is a pretty good size. Bigger than what I expected. It consists of four individual parts: tractor, trailer, farmer, and cow. The design is very attractive and child appropriate. The materials are very sturdy. My son has been playing with this every day since Christmas, and he has been throwing it around on occasion, but nothing broke off or is damaged yet. The sound effects are great, but they are LOUD. My son doesn't seem to mind, though. He uses the trailer to haul his Lego's and other toys around. He always gets excited when the tractor starts taking off and drives away. The farmer and cow have doubled as chew toys for my teething toddler, but I haven't seen any teeth marks on them. Good quality materials. The set came with a battery, so my son was able to play with this right out of the box. Nice. Overall, I am very pleased with this toy. I would consider buying other Tolo products in the future.

Tolo toys are generally extremely well-made. They are usually absolutely worth the money. This one is a good example: it is beautifully made, very fun and my son still loves it 6 months after it was given to him for Christmas (that's saying something). The yellow tractor beep-beeps, revs its motor, shines his headlights and drives about five-six feet. The little farmer is posable, and it comes with a great Tolo cow (a Tolo cow named "moo" was my son's first Tolo toy, and he still likes it a lot). He is two right now, and "my tractor!" is one of his favorite toys.

I have had this toy for about 5-6 months now. My toddler still loves playing with it. She likes to see the tractor pull the cart. It has held up well. I have several Tolo Toys, and from my experience they are very well made and stand the test of time. They are much more durable and sturdy than other plastic toys they have.

I got introduced to Haha pacifier chain from another mom who uses it with all her daughters, she got the beaded one which is so adorable. So we got one too, Moo Baa pacifier chain but we left it at our relative house (we loved that one too). I found this replacement for our daughter and it's the cutest chain a girl can ask for. This one is skinnier and lighter than Moo Baa. The seller shipped it very fast too. We can't seem to live without our chain. These chains are good to use as a toy too. Our daughter has this chain clipped on her at all time even when she sleeps, she reaches out to it and put her pacifier anytime she needs it. It's a must have if your baby is a pacifier lover. At first I thought it was heavy (Moo Baa) and hard to get the pacifier wrapped around the string but after a couple of times I got used to it. At times though I wish they make these a little smaller/skinnier to make it hang on better on the lighter baby clothes such as summer dresses and also to make it easy to put the pacifier in (when you try to wrap the long string along the big characters can get in the way, you'll see). But we are still in love with it. We got compliments for this all the time. The colors are wonderful, it's easy to find/locate since it's very visible due to it's size and colors. I'm not sure who likes this chain more myself, or my twins. Not only is this pacifier chain cute but it's also functional. We have used this for pacifiers, teething rings and toys. My twins just love this! They chew on it, they play with it and they are so interested in it. I have actually seen them take it from the other twin regularly. There is just something about this pacifier chain that amazes them. I also like the string loop because it fits all of the pacifiers that we have and is reasonably quick to swap out. This pacifier chain will not work with pacifiers without a "handle" in the front.

Fisher Price Classic Pull Toy: Chatter Telephone

I have a picture of me 37 years ago with this same toy. At first I found it funny that there is still a rotary phone toy out there when it is doubtful that most kids have ever even seen one. It turns out it doesn't matter. Kids love dialing and this phone allows them to actually DO more than its fake cordless phone peers. Fisher price please don't stop making them.

I loved this toy as a child, and our now-2-year-old twins love it.

Our twins love our cell phones (mine was ruined by excessive moisture), so of course, we wanted to buy toy phones for them. At first, we chose a toy cell phone, because we use cellular only (no land line), and our 1-year-old twins have never seen a rotary phone in person. Then I saw that this toy was again being produced, and we bought it for them on a whim.

The toy cell phone is well-liked, but this one is a lot more fun, with its colorful exterior, child-sized handset, and wheels. Our babies love to use the rotary dial; a motion not seen on many of today's developmental toys.

The build quality is excellent, and this toy can really take a beating. You can't go wrong with it.

My son is now 15 months old and he has had this forabout 4 months. I was especially excited since I remember wanting one SO BADLY when I was a kid. We showed him how to use it he is used to knawing on our cell phones. So, we get about 5 10 minutes of use out of it at any given time, but it is HEAVY. And the cords are short both the pully and the connection piece. This means he whirls this toy around and I have been clocked sideways a few times. I think when he is older and has more control it might be better. For now, I keep it at the bottom of the toy box and try to stay a good distance away when he does get ahold of it.

This toy has been around for years. At 29 years old I remember playing with the same type. They only thing is the cord on the phone is very short. To keep the phone in place or flat and to place receiver at your ear is not possible, the cord is too short. Too bad they didnt make it retractable so it wont hang being longer but also can extend to put to your ear. Overall, always a fun toy from baby to toddler and on.

I bought this baby for my nephew when his new baby brother arrived. It is the perfect size for a 17 month old. He loved it. This baby is soft and lovable with a sweet face. My nephew was fascinated by the baby's toes. This is a simple and well made product. It has even survived a "bed bug" clean up in the dryer, although, I wouldn't recommend a trip through the dryer unless it is an absolute must.

I bought this doll for my two year old for Christmas. The doll is very cute , the right size for a child her age and very detailed. I loved the way it looked.

This item is poorly constructed. It is only Feb. and this doll is falling apart. All the seams that connect the arms and legs to the body are coming apart. There appears to be a zip tie that holds this items to the body , and that has poked through the cloth and made holes on each of the legs and arms.

I am so disappointed . It is my daughter's favorite baby , and it really is very cute.

I specifically wanted a boy doll for my toddler son. After a lot of searching i decided on this one. This doll is cute and cuddly. However, the plastic ties they use to secure the appendages and neck poked through the material and ripped and frayed it. I'm not sure why the manufacturer didn't cut the excess plastic off before putting the fabric around it. I tried to get a replacement on Amazon but, they were out of stock. So, I ended up cutting the extra plastic off myself and removing it, and then sewing up the material where it had poked through. It's fine now and my son loves it but, what a pain.

My son (22 months) is going through an adorable baby doll phase so we wanted to get him one for Christmas. This was one of the few "boy" dolls I found and I liked that it was a basic doll-no frills but exactly what I was looking for.

Lamaze Cloth Book

The Peek-a-Boo Forest book (designed for ages 6m+) is very cute. Has very bright colors, and peek-a-boo flaps that lift away on each page to reveal a cute animal (e.g. move the tree to see the moose, move the leaf to see the owl, etc.). There are five two-page spreads each asking "Who is hiding behind the [tree or whatever]?" on the lefthand side, then revealing an animal beneath a crinkly flap on the righthand side. The featured animals are a moose, an owl, a bear family, a raccoon, and a beaver. The front cover also features a bird with a raised, fuzzy, crinkly face. Between the bright colors, the repetitive peek-a-boo activity, and the simple text, this seems very age-appropriate for my 6mo old. And more importantly, he agrees he loves it!

My baby is 7 months old and he's learning to sit while trying to grab whatever in front of him and put it in his mouth. I bought this book because I wanted to introduce him to a concept of "book" while at the same time let him play or chew on it.

So far, my baby likes this book. He really gets entertained by the different color pages (there are 5 pages), crinkly material and short sentences. Material is really nice, easy to clean I just toss in the washing machine along w/ all the baby clothes. The thing I like the most about Lamaze is the size; This book is larger than usual cloth book (larger font size as well). So, very nice for clumsy baby hands and developing eyes. At first I thought the book is pretty expensive however after receiving this book in the mail, I think it's worth the price. I even ordered another one of different story.

Not the best cloth baby book out there, however the story is cute and the characters are adorable. My reason for three stars is the lack of different textures in this book. if your kid likes crinkly stuff this is all about it, but thats the majority of the textures. I recomend Squishy Turtle and Friends over this because each page in that book has a new tactile sensation.

I was so happy to find this book. Finally, a soft, textured book that has more than 2 pages to turn! The soft Priddy books, e.g., Squishy Turtle and Fluffy Chick, have only 2 pages to turn, evidently a downgrade from earlier versions which had an additional page. I'm happy to pay an additional 3-4 dollars if it means getting a more substantive book, as you do with this Lamaze book.

In addition to Peek-A-Boo Forest being highly attractive, the rhymes are very appealing. My near 7-month old son lights up with big smiles when I read the book.

As one review (at this time) mentions, you don't get a variety of textures here, like in the soft Priddy books, but babies really do love the crinkly sound, and there are plenty of other books/toys out there you can buy with multiple textures. What this book lacks in tactile variety it makes up for with quantity of pages and quality of writing/illustrations.

My one complaint (and the reason for downgrading my rating to 4 stars) is that on several pages, the animal is not completely covered by the flap, making the "Peek-a-Boo" aspect not quite as surprising as it should be. The flaps need to be either bigger and/or sewn in a slightly different place to optimize coverage of the animal. The error is particularly egregious on the last page with the beaver. Maybe it's just my copy...

This book is great with bright colors, great crinkle textures for baby to touch on each page, and a cute peek-a-boo short story. My baby LOVES the Lamaze animal's/people's large eyes! I think this is a book that she will really enjoy well into the next 6-12 mo (she's 14 weeks old right now).

Child's Personalized Pastel Name Puzzle

I bought two of these for Christmas gifts. They were designed perfectly. The people I gave them too loved them!

I bought two of these name puzzles for my grandchildren. One was in the pastel colors, and one in the primary colors. Both were very sturdy and smooth. The cut outs are easily handled by kids...raised a bit so that they can get their fingers around the pieces. The wood was nicely finished. I would buy them again if I am blessed with more grandchildren!

You puzzle-making people must stop making them in all capital letters!! This is not the way children learn to recognize and then write their names. First letter capital, rest of letters lower case! I am an educator and would never purchase capital letters only wood puzzle. Please change your way of making these. Be sure to continfue them in wood!!
