Step2 Naturally Playful Sandbox
Crystalline silica, a colorless mineral, also called quartz, is an ingredient in sand, exposure to crystalline silica dust can cause lung diseases such as silicosis, inhaling airborne crystalline silica dust also has been associated with other diseases such as tuberculosis and lung cancer.

I want to thank M. Beatrice for planting the seed in my mind about "safe" play sand. I read the review, bought this sand box for my one-year old daughter and went to Home Depot to buy Play Sand. The label said it was specifically for use in sandboxes and washed, filtered, etc., so I bought four bags. When I was unloading it at home, the red warning label caught my eye "Warning: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer". I couldn't believe it, so checked the sand manufacturer's website and sure enough, it's silica sand, known to cause cancer. Good grief and it's legal to sell this stuff for children's sand boxes?
Yes, it's cheap, less than $20 for 200 lbs. But what price do we put on our kid's health? Back it goes and I begin my search for exorbitantly priced "safe sand". (For ideas, type in "safe play sand" in your search engine.) But who cares? At least I won't have to worry about my daughter spending hours playing in a toxic pit! Thanks again, M. Beatrice....My 2 year old son loves this sandbox! I chose it because of the natural color (we live in Texas and it seems the hot sun bleaches out most of his toys). Two children can easily play together in it because it's long rather than round or square. Also for the size, it's a really good value! We had his birthday party recently and had a bunch of one to four year old children really test it out so I know it's very durable! The lid fits securly and the little bit of rain or sprinkler water that has fallen on it has not seeped in. Niether have any bugs or animals so far! My nieghbor's 7 year old son likes it also, so it's good for all ages. I highly reccomend it!Never gets wet, never leaks, cover stays on through the harshest of weather! I am still impressed. Well worth every penny!!

Edushape Corrugated Blocks, Set of 36 toys
As for the blocks... They go together fairly easily after the first couple you do and the children love to play with them. They have a coating on the outside that you can wipe off and can support 100 pounds. Overall, I think that these blocks are great for teaching children how to build and since we use them for making balance beams, they can teach balance and even give a little exercise. Overall, I would recommend blocks like these to anyone with toddlers or older children.

Sesame Street Elmo Bath Toy Organizer
Buy Sesame Street Elmo Bath Toy Organizer Now
I bought this for my Elmo fan, and thought it would be great for draining since it was mesh. However, depending on the amount of toys you plan on storing, its not a good idea. The picture is pretty accurate. If you fill the bag more than half, its too heavy for the strings attached to the suction cups. Our bag is in the garbage.Read Best Reviews of Sesame Street Elmo Bath Toy Organizer Here
I ignored the reviews that said this item didn't stick and I wish I hadn't. I thought I could use alcohol on the suction cups and they would work as I have done with other suction cups. Nothing works its ridiculous. This would be really cute if there was any hope of it sticking but sadly it was a total waste of money. Very disappointed.Great help in the bath tub and Elmo is my granddaughter's favorite Sesame Character. The bag helps keep the tub area clean while still providing a fun bag. My granddaughter is also learning how to put her play toys back when it is cleanup time.Tuesday, May 6, 2014

Munch Silicone Teether - 3 Ring
Buy Munch Silicone Teether - 3 Ring Now
My 8 month old son loves this teether. The hole in the middle makes it easy to hold. He loves feeling the different textures on each 'petal.' He kept trying to chew on flat plastic things like my keychain and he likes putting tags in his mouth, so I figured he would like this teether. He loves it! He wouldn't put it down for more than a few seconds the first time I gave it to him. He often tries to carry it around with him as he crawls! I also love the fact that it is BPA and phthalate free. My one complaint is that it's hard for me to find because it is clear. However, HE always seems to find it!The picture is misleading. It implies that this is a 3 pack of teethers when in fact it is only one item. Had I known, I would have skipped this item and just purchased a BPA/pthalate free teether locally or better, from GreenSprouts, which seems to offer a better deal. I will keep it because I was looking for something healthier than the unlabeled ones, but still there is that lingering feeling of having been hoodwinked. This teether was so popular with our daughter around the time she was 6 months old. She loved being able to easily hold it herself and chew on it. We were so sad when our daycare lost it and will definitely replace it for our next baby.Thursday, April 10, 2014

Who knew an infant would get so much delight from seeing the little bird do a buzzing dance after they pull and release? Neighbor's kid loved it too. Cheap fun and advances the little person's sense of control mastery over environment. Cool.I did not get a bird, I got something reminding me of sheep, but it is still nice. Wooden Animal Nesting Blocks
The fact that they are nesting makes them easy to put away without taking up a ton of space and the kids spend just as much time taking them out of "nested mode" as they do knocking them down.
Don't pass this toy up, it is a great, simple, high quality toy that will grow with your kids.My 2 year old little girl loves to organize things, and put things in order so this is the perfect toy for her. She is also an animal lover and she loves to walk around the stack asking questions about all the different animals. We love it.

My one-year old niece loves stacking and building so these are great. Her 6 and 8 year old brothers love helping her too! These blocks are great! I wanted a wooden set b/c I figured them would last longer than the cardboard ones...especially with a toddler stacking and restacking them about a million times. My daughter (and I) really like all the animal characters on the sides. It's great to go over them with her and see which ones she can remember. She liked them from the start. They also seem very durable. These are great, sturdy blocks. They stack well on top of each other or inside each other. My son loves playing with them. I love the four sides of each one (farm animals, zoo animals, wildlife animals, etc...). Very creative and hours of play!Friday, January 10, 2014

Surprised at the other reviews regarding the suction cups & especially the one that says the monkey & music only work for 3 seconds. (That is ONLY true if you don't have the remote and only use the buttons on the side of the product. But if you have the remote you can control how long it is on and it's really nice to have the remote control since who wants to have to stop to turn it on)? After using this for my 1st baby for close to a year, I found this product to be a savior when baby was fussy in the car. Generally I would keep it off unless he became fussy then the remote comes in handy to just click the button turn it on and instantly baby would have a nice distraction to entertain him & help him calm down until I could pull over to tend to whatever was making him fussy. It plays a few different tunes to keep baby interested too.
Also the way to keep the suction to hold is to first clean your windows (with windex or even better an alcohol wipe pad) then put a little just a couple drops of moisture on the suction cup itself before pressing it very firmly to the window and then moving the lever down to suction it. Yes it may come loose again eventually from opening & closing the door but I was able to get it to stay on for at least a month or so at a time typically.
The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that you do have to have the remote to make the thing stay on for more than 3 seconds. We lost our remote after about a year, and it eventually prompted me to just replace with regular shades I already had instead since there was no longer any music to distract/entertain baby when getting fussy. And he was getting big enough to almost reach the monkey & I was afraid he might pull it down.
I also agree with the review that it isn't the BEST shade out there for sun protection though I do think it provides a good amount. The shade is not huge but that actually worked better for me since we drove a smallish car (4 door sedan) not a big SUV for baby #1. But for baby #2 I'm actually planning on buying this product again to use in addition to the regular shades we already have which will provide a little better sun protection for the bigger windows we now have with our SUV. Not sure how I will hang both shades up at once yet but I think I can make it work.

Fisher-Price Bright Beginnings Activity Walker
I saw some reviews on the musical version of this toy where some said that the toy was not good for kids pulling up to standing. My son weighed about 20 lbs when he first got it and never had any issues pulling up. The toy never fell over from his weight. My husband rarely cares about reviews, but he read the review with me when there was only one review for this (5-star at the time) and was sold on buying it. At first, I have to admit that I was disappointed when I unpacked it. It is very lightweight; it's all pretty thin plastic on the whole toy. The picture made it seem like the part with the 'toys' on it was heavy enough to weigh the whole thing down. It's pretty much just a shell, with a few gadgets attached.
When we bought it our child was about 7 months old, and loved crawling. When we tried the walker, our son really needed to put his weight on whatever was holding him up when he wanted to practice walking. So, when we first tried the walker with him, it would have toppled right over (with him) if both us hadn't either been holding our son or the toy. It's definitely not made to be heavily leaned upon by someone with wobbly legs.
We helped our son practice using the walker practically all the time, even though I thought the toy was far too light to ever be a support. It actually became useful in stages. At first, our son was increasingly able to hold his own weight, standing, which is what made the walker increasingly usable. The walker was a little more useful when he could stand well, but the 'toys' on it were totally uninteresting. (At least it's a quiet toy that doesn't need batteries.) Then, he could pretty much take one or two steps with the walker, on his own. Finally, one evening he just crawled to the walker and ran down the hall with it. It was quite a shock because when he pulled himself up, I thought he was going to fall over with the toy. (We'd always held the toy steady for him, up to that point.) I was only a few feet away watching him before I realized he wanted to stand up, but by the time I got up and took two steps to go help him, he'd already started running down the hall with it. (After I recovered my jaw, I woke my husband to see the surprise.)
I'd say if you're interested in just getting something to help your child transition to walking on his/her own, this toy serves its purpose. Your child should probably be steady on his/her feet, meaning pretty much able to stand steadily. Early on, when he'd adjusted to using it, my husband and I still spent a lot of time holding the toy with him because his leaning on it made it roll quite quickly (the wheels are just as thin and lightweight as the rest of the toy.)
If you're like I was, and are looking for a walker that can double as a toy for a baby to play with while sitting, get something else. (I didn't invest much time looking into walkers because we have no stairs to worry about and have mostly carpet floors; so I can't make a specific, alternative suggestion.) It works very well on carpet, by the way. Regular floors, keep an eye on the little one driving.
Personally, I'd hoped it would be a multi-purpose toy (based on the picture), having little things on top of it to play with, but the widgets just flip like pages or spin. In the end, though, our son didn't really need us to invest a lot in a walker because the transition was about a month or two, then he wanted to take steps on his own and didn't want the toy to help him anymore. He pretty much stopped using it after he started practicing on his own.
We bought this when it was about $20, I think. (I'd spent so much on other toys I didn't have much left to invest in a walker at the time.) In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't spend a lot on this kind of toy. Really, it's not necessary to spend more than $20 on a push walker anyway. I definitely wouldn't buy this particular walker for more than $20 or $25. By the time children get the hang of walking with the help of a toy, they will probably just want to try walking on their own, one step at a time.
By the way, I rated this toy 5 stars because my husband specifically asked me to write a review for this (of all the toys I bought on Amazon) and to rate it 5 stars. I love him, he thought the toy was great, and my son's a champion at walking now, so, here's 5 stars. Cheers.

Ok! so we all love fisher price and I was excited to get a walker for my son I bought it for him when he was 10 months old and we have had it for one month now. It looks great in the picture BUT its EXTREMELY light weight... DO NOT BUY THIS!!! its not meant to work as a walker... when the kid tries to stand up the toys falls over, the kid falls over, and he or she gets hurt. again its very light weight and cheap... you are better off getting something heavy and durable... my son tries to stand up with this toy to practice and he falls over... the toy cant hold the childs weight... and my son is not over weight or fat... just a normal 11 month old baby!Read Best Reviews of Fisher-Price Bright Beginnings Activity Walker Here
My daughter got this toy as a gift when she was 6 months old. Before she could walk we used it as an activity center and she would crawl up the face and flip the items. I used the little animal flip tabs to teach her what sounds each animal makes.Once she began standing she used it as a walker. She is now 3 and her 8-month-old brother has taken it over. He loves spinning the wheels and playing with the activities. The toy looks like new even though we have used it outside on the driveway as well as in the house. Soon he'll be ready to stand and use it. I love this toy.

I took this out of the box and my 7 month old baby was trying to scale me to get to it. I had to wrestle him away just so I could put the stickers on. Once I gave it to him, he attacked it viciously and played with it a good half an hour without pause. When he did pause, it was only to crawl across the floor and back to it. The only issue I have with it so far is that we have hardwood floors and he wants to stand all the time while holding on to things (though nowhere near steadily enough to use it in walker mode). He likes to lean over it, holding himself up with one hand and standing on his feet while he plays with the toys on it with his free hand. Because the wheels do not lock and we have hardwood floors, it tends to slide out from under him. In that half an hour, he fell about 7 times.HOWEVER... I'm not one of those mums who sheds a tear whenever my LO falls on his backside or gets a tiny bump on the head. It's a good learning experience for him to fall down now and then, even if it does upset him. It's certainly not the toy's fault that he wants to play with it in such a position but it WOULD be nice if locking the wheels was an option. I'll probably just use something to jam them until he's old enough to walk with it.
He LOVES it. Therefore, I'm pretty fond of it too.

B. Wheeee-ls
PRICE: I bought these same cars for $8.50 at Target, so I don't understand why Amazon is charging $21.99 for the same product (as of 9/23/2011).My son got these cars for his first birthday and they are one of his favorite toys. We take them places quite often and they are always a hit with kids of all ages. Kids love to make them run off a coffee table, have races or crash them into each other. We have even tied balloons to them and had them tow the balloons around the house. Very fun, durable and the soft wheels won't scratch your coffee table. I highly recommend these cars! It's great to have a non-battery operated toy in the house. Each toy either jingles or rattles. You pull it back and watch it go. My 8 month old loves it. She can pull it back herself. The company has great values too.I love these and so does my 13 month old, but if your going to get them or any B. toys I suggest going to Target as they are about half the price! These cars are so cute. I had gotten them as a present for a friend and was excited to buy them for my own daughter. However I noticed when we got to the car that a couple of them were "chipped". I immediately went back in the store to exchange them, but when I inspected the other boxes of cars I found that you could just scratch off some of the plastic/paint from the toys. My daughter puts everything in her mouth so if I could easily scratch it off with my finger I can only imagine what she would get in her mouth. I'm sure they are great toys, but not worth the risk if your child puts toys in their mouth.

I just saw these little cars at a birthday party for a one year old. These are great! There were older children at the party and they were having a good time playing with the cars. The little cars are soft so if they are thrown or if they hit furniture on the floor there is no damage. Parents can remove the wheels to wash the cars. This was a very thoughtful and fun gift.Read Best Reviews of K's Kids Pull Back Autos Here
My 16-month old son just loves these cars. He is constantly playing with them and carries one of the cars with him at all times. These cars keep him active as he is constantly running after them. The cars do move with a lot of speed but not with a lot of force. When they crash into furniture or walls, there is no damage left behind. The fact that these vehicles are very easy to clean (machine washable) is a major plus. The cars are soft and plushy, which is great if your child decides to launch it as a missle. My son already loves these, and he's only 8 months old. He loves to watch them go, and can get ahold of the fabric cars and wheels. It's also great for me that they can be machine-washed! The pull-back mechanism works well; they travel very quickly on our wood floors and even some on our rugs.

I bought this toy for my daughter to take to church when she was probably 8 mos. or so. She is 18 mos. now and still likes it. It keeps her interest for a long time. The roof opens, the door at the end opens, and she can put the birds in the hole in the top of the bouse. The birds do make a little noise when you shake them, which is good for her to hear, but quiet enough for church. And she loves carrying it herself! Great toy!!Read Best Reviews of Manhattan Toy Put and Peek Birdhouse Here
08/17/05 Update:Now baby is 9 months and still loves the little birds. He plays a lot with this house and lately he's fascinated by the front door. Now he stuffs the house not only with the birds but all the toys that fit inside are welcome. I'm surprised about the long lasting residents of the little house: Altough you are supposed only to surface clean them, during this 7 months they have been washed more than TWENTY times on the washer machine (gentle cycle) and then dryed on the dryer machine and they are like new! still colorful and the rattles still make noise! The shoe lace-like feet of two of the birds stopped loosing strands, so I didn't have to cut them off. Only complaint now, is that the stitches inside the house are now falling appart. They are poorly hand-stitched, and the one in the middle of the roof (inside the house) had fall apart completelly and you can see the plastic red handle from the inside. I had to repair it last week. Otherwise I still love this toy!
...................................................
My baby is only 10 weeks old (it is recommended to 6+ months), but we decided to buy the house anyway because it was irresistible to me when we were at the store (too cute), and my baby loved the birds!. At this time he is not interested in playing put and peek, but he held the birds and play with them for a looong time
The house comes with one plastic wall , opposite to this wall there is a green door, which remains closed if not held to be open, and two little round windows in the other 2 walls. One side of the roof opens completely, and has a little velcro strap to be closed (this I know will be difficult to the little ones to be used, because the strap is tiny and not so accesible) but the roof remains closed if the house is hold by the handle.
4 little cute birds, colorful and easy to grab for little hands, and very chewables! I have to say that two birds come with fabric little feet and the other 2 with kind of shoe laces strings, and these two seem to be loosing strands that could be swallowed by babies. I think there will be a moment in were I have to cut the feet of those two fellas.
The 4 birds come with a rattle inside them, nothing fancy.
I would say I really like this toy and my baby is having fun with it.
Only complaint is that the house seems more wrinkled in the plastic wall than in the pictures, and we tried to pick out the less wrinkled one.My daughter received this for her first birthday, and she has played with it every day for months! The bright colors and interesting patterns are wonderful; the birds double as rattles and have a variety of textures; and the multiple openings into the birdhouse give her different ways to put the birds in and take them out. A big plus--it's a "no-battery-needed" toy and the only noises associated with it are the child's giggles and talk to the birds.
