Fun toy for our 14 mo. grandson. I continually put different things inside and he loves pulling them out always finding a different surprise. The little items that come with the toy are really nice and sized perfectly for little hands.Read Best Reviews of Earlyears Surprise Inside Elephant Here
My daughter liked pulling out all of the surprises inside the elephant. Not very educational but fun and very durable.Want Earlyears Surprise Inside Elephant Discount?
Great toy my 7 month old son loves it. Or I should say lovED it... because he got sick, so I washed it... and it fell apart. I just never thought that a toy for a young child would not be able to be washed especially a soft toy. I intentionally avoid plastic toys, and like soft ones because I always assume I can throw them in the washer. Not the case here. The material that keeps the elephant stiff to create the box shape came out, and it's crumpled flat now... and the material is crumbled all over the smaller pieces!Just be warned, you can't clean this item!!

B. Sugar Chute - Mango
Now, the above problem may just be an issue with our personal S.C., I don't know, but it seems like a design issue. We were so excited about our Sugar Chute, and now we're trolling e-bay for the original. My daughter and I absolutely ADORE this little gumball machine.I also happen to be a fan of (most) B. toys in general. It has three different mechanisms to drop the "gumballs" downa turning key, a knob that can be pulled back and forth, and a little flip that can be hit, which is on the front, above the drop. This is nice option for the younger ones still working on developing fine motor skills. The colors and patterns are what initially drew me in to this toy. I bought the B. Sugar Chute years ago, and it seems they've come out with even MORE color options! (I might have to buy another, haha!) I will add that the company also seems to be incredibly eco-friendly. The gumballs themselves come in quite a varietythere were a few patterned, a few solid, a few with smaller balls rattling around inside of them, my daughter's favorite. That's really all there is to it. This is a very fun and durable toy, but also SIMPLE. That means no pieces to break, and not spending tons of money on batteries! It is also excellent for teaching cause and effect, and developing fine motor and vision skills( my daughter has special needs and problems in all three departments, and I can't begin to tell you the use we've gotten from this toy). I've had children as old as 7 make a beeline for this toy when they come over to my house! I highly recommend checking out the entire line of B. toys on Amazon.

all the balls get stuck in the bottom and its difficult to remove them. It would be way more fun if they just shot out when released. this toy is large and is just collecting dust. My 18 month old played with it for 5 min and then lost interest. i usually adore B toys and i was pretty surprised that this one was such a flop.I purchased this for my 13 month old grandson who loves to play with balls. They are brightly colored and just the right size for his hands. The knobs and levels work easily and he loved using all of them to get the balls out of the chute. He carried the entire chute all around on Christmas morning. His 28 month old brother also loved the toy.Love the balls that come with the toy, but the actual gum ball machine is not designed that great. The cover over the hole at the bottom is a real pain. Sometimes it take some real muscle to get it open. It would also be much funner if the ball shot out the bottom with nothing stopping them.Sunday, April 20, 2014

Sassy Fill and Spill Barrel
Buy Sassy Fill and Spill Barrel Now
My daughter is 9 months old and loves emptying out the bucket and putting the toys back in. She loves the squeaky feature of the monkeys. Its a hit! This is one of the toys that gets put out everyday for my girls to play with. They are 9 months old and got this for Christmas. The play with every part of it from the lid and container to the bananas, barrels and stuffed monkeys inside. They like taking the toys our and putting them in and they like chewing on the plastic bananas. This was a good price and I am happy with my purchase. I am sure we will get a lot of play out of it and I love that it all goes back in its neat container at the end of the day! This toy is so simple, but my 9 month old loves it & has since he was 6 months old. The squeaking monkeys always catch his attention and make him smile. He crawls to get them as fast as he can. He loves putting things into the barrel and taking them out. The barrel being clear makes it a bit more challenging for him since he can see what is inside but can't get it unles he reaches inside. All around, this is a great toy, especially for the price. Also, it seems to appeal to a wide variety of ages as we took it to a 4 year old's birthday party and kids of all ages wanted to play with it. I like it so much that I've ordered a 2nd one to keep at my parents' house.Infantino Stick and Play Highchair Toy
I bought it to stick on high chair tray to keep my grandaughter interested while I made her food. It stuck for a couple of seconds, but was quickly pulled off. It is useless as a high chair toy. High chair tray is smooth and not textured so that was not the problem
However, my grandaughter really likes this toy and so I hold it while she plays with it. She will sometimes play with it on her own.
I would rate it zero stars for a high chair toy, and three stars as a toy, so I settled on two stars as a compromise

~BACKGROUND~I purchased this toy for my 2 month old son to aid in the development of his motor skills.
I have suctioned the toy to various surfaces plastic, corian counter, finished wood.
~PROS~
Spinning flower "clicks" as it turns and makes the beads move and make noise as well. Also provides an added feature and easier access to the 4 petals mirror, spinning butterfly, spinning bee and bead filled petal.
Great entertainer for the high chair. We are currently using ours in the Bumbo Floor Seat with Tray AQUA with the Bumbo Seat Play Tray, Ivory.
Can be used as a non-stick plain old toy as well.
~CONS~
The "stay put base" does not stay put very well. It appears to work best on a very smooth surface, but still loses it's suction. I have tried numerous methods in an attempt to keep it suctioned various levels of pressure on the base, various amounts of moisture on the suction cup. Sometimes it stays put longer than others, but eventually it falls over.
~TIPS~
As with any toy that gets put in your child's mouth (which is practically everything) I strongly encourage the use of non-toxic products that are safe for your child such as:
The First Years 90 Count Pacifier Wipes
Munchkin 36 Pack Arm and Hammer Pacifier Wipes, White
~CONCLUSION~
My son loves to sit in his before mentioned Bumbo with the flower stuck to the Bumbo tray. I like to move it from one side to the other to encourage him to use both of his hands to spin the flower and explore the petals.

Adorable toy but pretty much worthless because it constantly falls over. Flower is top heavy. Ordered a few more sassy toys and they stick much better. Waste of money....ughI bought this toy at another retailer and at first it was great. The only problem? (and the reason it only got 3 stars) It doesn't stick! It continuously falls off my son's highchair and his floor seat. He can easily pull it right off. He loves the toy itself, but it just doesn't stay put. I wish infantino would make a different base to it, with less places a baby can grab on to to unattach the toy.Wednesday, April 2, 2014

Tomy International John Deere Green Shape Sorter
Buy Tomy International John Deere Green Shape Sorter Now
We researched other name brand shape and sort toys and this John Deere brand came out on top. My daughter loves the colors, and she loves to bang the shapes together. She is too young at this time to actually put the shapes in their correct hole, but I know it will be great for her. The lid stays on, but is easy to remove as well. She likes the handle so she can carry it around like a bucket as well.Read Best Reviews of Tomy International John Deere Green Shape Sorter Here
Our son loves this sorter, it helps his fine motor skills and he like to try and take off the lid. He walks around the house holding the bucket and is learning to put things away (and take them out). It has nine different shapes and there is extra room to store a few more small toys.Want Tomy International John Deere Green Shape Sorter Discount?

Schylling Ambi Lock A Block
Buy Schylling Ambi Lock A Block Now
Overall a nice toy. My son loves opening and closing things and loves locks. So it made sense to get this for him. At first he was super frustrated because he could not open the door with the key. He finally got the hang of it. But still...the key is hard to operate. You would think you would stick it in deep somewhere and the key would stay put in the lock. Not the case with this toy. The lock is only a small indentation....they key sticks in there, but can easily fall out. I was looking for something more realistic where he could actually stick the key in all the way and open the lock all the way. But oh well...what can you expect with a kid's toy. My other gripe...and this has more to do with me than anything else.....is that once you lose the shapes, they are hard to find. Who knows where our shapes are....maybe under the sofa, maybe in the backyard. Meaning...designate a play time period with this toy...make sure you watch your kid and he or she doesn't run off with the shapes....or you may never see them again ! In the beginning we would play with him and this toy for about 10 mins and then we would put the shapes back in, lock the door and put the toy away. Boy would he cry ! But that is the only way to do it, otherwise you misplace the shapes and toy becomes pretty much useless from that point on.Read Best Reviews of Schylling Ambi Lock A Block Here
I could never figure out why sorters would come with cylindrical shape pieces instead of 3D ones. This toy comes with cubes, spheres, and pyramids no cylinders. This makes much more sense to my baby. She doesn't try to put the "circle" shape into the square hole (if you look at a circle cylinder shape sideways, it sure looks like it should fit.) This toy is really well made with nice sturdy plastic pieces. We found ours at Goodwill, and it had all the pieces and the key was still attached. A Goodwill miracle! I would happily pay for a new toy. It's that nice and well-made. I'm on a wooden toy kick, but still really like this toy.My baby can't open the lock with the key, yet. I leave the door open and help her empty it when she gets all the pieces in it.I have had one of these for many years and frequently give them as gifts. I have provided infant/toddler care in my home for 30 years, and for younger toddlers I think this is the best shape sorter I've ever seen. With most sorters, the square is rectangular on one side and the circle is a cylindermeaning the child can find the correct hole to put it in, but if they are not ALSO holding the shape in the correct position, it will not fit. Most younger tots will not see this and will simply try another hole, eventually becoming frustrated. With this toy, the circle is a sphere, the triangle a pyramid and the square a cube. Find the right spot and the shape will usually go right infar more rewarding! The key feature provides for additional challenge later onI just leave it unlocked until they are old enough for it.

Philippa Doll
Philippa is close to 15 inches long (with the hair). She is heavier than Clara and I did not think she would be easy for my younger to eventually carry around (or should I say me, in the diaper bag). Also, I thought that her face did not look quite as cute in person as it does in the picture. Clara's face is spot on. Philippa's headband, elastic, overalls, and shoes are removable and I think she would go through the wash just fine (although I would probably use a mesh bag). All of her facial features are embroidered, so no worries about paint peeling off. Her eyes are a darker blue.
The craftsmanship of this doll is fantastic and for the price, I think it's a great buy. Especially in comparison to other Waldorf style dolls that go for much more. If she was the only one offered from HABA, I would have kept her without thinking twice. We decided to go with "Elise" instead, based on the size (12") and her adorable face.
This doll (and all others we looked at in this line) are made in China.

Baby Bath Wind Up Toy ~ Frog & Ladybug
Not worth the hassle of returning but I'd advise against purchase. It's cute and my 16 month old plays with it, but it was expensive for a simple wind up toy. It actually arrived in Babies R Us packaging, so I could have probably bought it there cheaper.

I bought this to replace the apple on my son's Evenflo ABC Exersaucer. While I have to say he loves it, after one or two days of use we noticed that the stickers covering the surfaces were coming off in his mouth. Anyone with a teething baby knows that everything on that Exersaucer goes straight into their mouths, including the original apple. This seems really dangerous to have stickers on an Exersaucer accessory.Want Evenflo Switch A Roo Discount?
My little guy loves this switcharoo, but I've given it a 4 for one specific reason. The "stem" is too short. All of the other switcharoos that we own have a 6-8" stem that allows him to pull them towards him and shove them in his mouth. This one is so short that if he pulls on it hard enough he can pull it out of the hole since there is no give at all. That said, he really loves turning pages, so this is right up his alley. He also really likes the mirror. I understand that the toy on top is probably heavier than most of the other options, but if they had just made the stem a little longer, this would have been perfect.

Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Learning Letters Mailbox
What baby likes: the letters they're tasty I guess....he giggles when he eats them. Opening and closing the door is also exciting. He can't stop. He hasn't figured out that the flag goes up and down, but when he does, I'm sure he'll go to town with it.
What I like about it: keeps my kid entertained. It's not a one hit wonder either. He takes his "mail" with him and then will come back to his mailbox to open and close the box. The music is very standard FP stuff, so he's familiar with it. The little birdie was the same as a few of his other Laugh and Learn toys so that's nice (same with a few other features/voices/sound effects).
It goes well with his farm house, he loves the toy.
Anything I don't like there isn't a back to the box so it's not really a "box". He could go in the back to get his mail, but he hasn't figured that out yet, and still opens the door.
What i like about FP toys in general they're super durable. We've got a rough kid plus 2 dogs that trample over his things. Plus we play with them too. We haven't had issues with anything. Also the FP customer service is amazing. When we did have a piece break, they gave us a certificate towards another replacement toy. NICE! If we had questions, we could always find info on their website or call customer service. Their toys are always multidimensional and have a vast variety in music, education and activity. I like getting my money's worth and I generally do with FP.

This was a gift to my son... Honestly, he got it because he was cheap and it was one of the few toys that is geared for 6 month olds that is something different than the same old thing. The idea of a mailbox toy just didn't seem appealing to me. So of course, it's one his absolute favorite toys.
The concept is simple enough, it's a mailbox. The front opens, it has a slot on the top to drop letters into (3 plastic "envelopes" and a "package"), the back is open, and there are little fun, interactive decorative features... A snail with a ball for a shell that spins, there's a roller on the side with numbers on it that triggers songs, a push button butterfly in the grass, a flag on the side of the mailbox which also triggers songs, and a red bird that bounces on a spring which also triggers noises and songs. Of course the mailbox door opens and closes too to another series of songs and sounds. There are two modes, a musical mode and a learning mode. I personally do not find the voice of the mailbox to be annoying as some others have found it to be, but I will admit I can tune this stuff out pretty easily. The musical mode makes me a little nuts, so I generally just leave it on learning mode.
I love the overall interactivity of the mailbox. With so many trigger points my 7 month old son (though he's played with it since he was 4-5 months old) gets really engaged and will play with it for awhile. He is too young to insert the envelopes into the slot on the top, but he a lot of fine motor skill building by constantly picking them up and he loves putting them in his mouth. He has just figured out that the package rattles, though he still really prefers to goof around with the letters. He will play with them with the mailbox and he will take them out and play with them on their own. Also, he is a little too young to regularly open the front of the mailbox by himself. While it's not hard to open, it does stay closed really well and is still a little beyond him developmentally. I know that a lot of people complain about the open back, but honestly I really like it. As I said, he's still too young to figure out how to use the slot on the top of the mailbox or open the door, but he can take the letters in and out through the back, which he loves to do. I love leaving the front open and handing the letters through to him. This is a great toy in that just in seeing how it grows with him and he's constantly making discoveries with it (he just discovered the bird on top and loves it) and I feel like this is a toy that will grow really nicely with him as he figures out the rest of the features. It's very sturdy and well-built, so I'm not worried about how it'll withstand over time. Also a big plus is while it does take batteries, they really last for a long time (daily use for 3 months and it's still on the factory batteries) and if they do die, it doesn't impact how the toy works (for those who hate the songs and voice, it may be a win/win).
The major drawbacks with it is that while it does have a decent sized, sturdy base, it is top heavy and it falls over when he yanks on it. Now that he's sitting up on his own it's less of a big deal (as you can see in the video, he still plays with it), but when he played with it on his belly he would constantly yank it down and hit himself in the face with it. The big issue we're having with it now is that it's the perfect hight for him to use to try and pull himself up and he will pull himself up, steadying himself by leaning on the top of the mailbox. Because it is top heavy, when he puts his weight on the edges of the mailbox, it topples over and he goes along with it. So for right now, he can't really play with it without me right there to watch him like he can some of the other toys, like the Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn Cookie Shape Surprise, but I know he will grow out of it.
This is really a great toy and he's gotten a lot more from it then I could have ever guessed he would (and so have the other kids who've used it... It really seems like a big hit with all ages). I've attached a video of him playing with it to give an idea of how it works, the songs and sounds it makes, to show the issues he has with yanking it down, and also how much he really likes it (he actually gets way more into it normally but the red light on the camera distracts him). The beginning of the video has the mailbox in "learning" mode, and the last little bit is in the song mode. The letters are on the floor in the background. I hope that it helps show how engaging it is, but also lets people who're getting it for similarly aged little ones (or little ones of similar developmental levels) see how they might use it.

Our 18 month old son loves this toyopening and closing the door, putting the packages in and taking them out, making the music and sounds play. At first I didn't like or understand why there is no back panel on the mailbox. This can be a pain because the letters fall out the back when my son sticks them through the mail slot on top. However, I have since come to enjoy the open back, which allows me to "sneak" either my hand or an unexpected object into the mail box and surprise my son when he opens the door. So far it has been quite durable.Want Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Learning Letters Mailbox Discount?
I don't usually review a lot of items but this one we are very very happy with(my daughter has so many I would be at computer all the time!) We picked this up as a spur of the moment purchase. She loves it! My daughter is 21 months and doesn't say a lot of words so I liked how it when you open it it says "open" and so forth..I am hoping this will encourage her to say more words! Cute little toy and worth the $$!
