This item was shipped unassembled and after a ridiculous number of emails for assembly instructions, it was never able to be assembled properly. It was defective, and when assembled as instructed just kept tipping over and going in circles. The seller refused to replace it or refund my money. It was a Christmas gift for my granddaughter in Hawaii. So she was terribly disappointed and we finally had to just throw in in the garbage. It was a total waste of money and a hardship for a little girl.

Bright Starts Silly Sounds Safari Rattle

My baby loves this toy, but it has a super sensitive sound activation! If you have this on the floor and walk by it goes off. Nothing worse then having a sleeping baby and hearing jungle monkey noises. LOL!

Super sensitive sound sensor (say that three times fast...). I'm not sure if everyone would consider this a drawback, but anytime anything moves around this toy (child, adult, pet, air), the music/silly sounds go off. And it's not horribly loud, but the music/sounds carry.

Recently on a trip to Washington DC over Memorial Day (heavy traffic in DC that weekend), we received this rattle from a relative as a gift. While we were driving, this rattle slid under one of the front seats in our rental car. As I and my husband were in the front seats and my six month old was in the back seat, we weren't able to reach it. Anyone who has ever been to DC knows that there are parts of the highway system where you cannot stop unless it is a DIRE emergency, so we had to listen to this thing go off about every four seconds for half an hour. When we finally got back to where we were staying, we were ready to drive over it. We settled for taking out the batteries (which required a tiny screwdriver thank God we had one), and we like the toy a lot more now. My six month old likes holding it, rattling it, chewing on it and playing with it, which is why we bothered to take the batteries out rather than donating it to Goodwill or to another parent who might be more "noisy toy" tolerant.

My 7 month old loves this rattle...but after a week of use the paint is chipping off of the "leaves". I can not in good conscience continue to use a product that may be harmful to his health however much he likes it.

My son picked this as his favorite toy when he was 2 months old. It is very easy for a baby to activate, and he learned that moving the toy made the noises happen. Now, he is 8 months old, and it is still a favorite! The only issue is that (as another reviewer stated) it is very sensitive, and it has no off switch, but it's not a big enough deal to bother me. I believe the batteries are starting to run low now, because it is making funny noises, and playing a drum rhythm I have never heard before, but I will be buying new batteries to keep this toy going! Pretty good battery life too, since we've had it about 6 months now with near nonstop use!

Little Tikes 2-in-1 Pirate Ship

My son received this for his 1st birthday and both he and I love it. Not only can they sit and ride on it but also the blue sit lifts up and he can store whatever he can fit in there including our remote control. There is a little red button behind the sail that when you push it, it makes 3 different sounds, one of a ship horn, one of an anchor splashing into the ocean and I can't remember the other one. It is VERY easy to put together and has survived being pushed down the stairs. The little flag on the back does get pulled out easily but also snaps back in easily. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Got this toy for my son for his 2nd birthday. It's very cute and he loves playing with it! He loves that he can store toys under the seat and then ride it all over the house. However, one of the wheels simply will not stay on the toy, it randomly falls off when my son is riding it and he falls over. This is the only downfall about it. I recommend this toy for sure though.

We bought this toy for our 15 month daughter for Christmas. It was easy enough to put together. We haven't had any problems with wheels coming off like other reviewers, but we used a hammer to make sure that they were on securely. Though my daughter is too small to ride on this by herself she loves pushing it around the livingroom and opening and closing the seat compartment. She also loves the figures that came with it and has been carrying them around for days saying "argh."

Very impressed with Little Tikes. Got this for my child's first birthday to grow with. Really cool, big enough but not to wide for riding (when she gets bigger). The compartment for storage of the smaller characters is wonderful and one of the reasons I purchased this item. (have limited space and anything with storage is a plus) She is enjoying laying over it and getting items on the other side, just the right height. She loves opening the compartment and emptying it. One draw back is when I received it. I began to put it together. There was not a battery cover. I emailed Little Tikes and they sent one out right away. We are both very happy with this product/toy!

My 12 month old loves this ship. We bought it on a whim, and he took to pushing it all around the house immediately. He felt the crew of two scurvy dogs was too small, however, so he's added a few Sesame Street figures into the mix.

The sounds are fun, though on the box it suggests that there is a pirate voice. Not the case, just a cannon boom, a ringing bell, and the sound of an anchor dropping into the water. Not annoying at all (and it's been over a month).

The small flag at the back of the ship doesn't stay in place, so we removed it. Otherwise it's sturdy and all in one piece despite hours of rough play from a busy boy!

I love Haba toys, so when I found this pacifier chain, I eagerly ordered it. It is really cute, and my baby liked playing with it, but it ended up being quite impractical. First, as other reviewers have noted, it is super difficult to loop it onto the pacifier. Took me about 15 minutes of working at it to get the cord over all the wooden toys.

Second, it's not very long, so if you don't clip it in exactly the right spot, and baby turns his head, the pacifier pops right out of his mouth! So we ended up never clipping it because of this, and we just used it as a handle.

Third, if your baby falls asleep with the pacifier in her mouth, this chain can end up uncomfortably pressed against her face. I always had to swap the pacifier with another one that didn't have the chain on it once baby fell asleep.

In the end, we would have been better off using a ribbon-style pacifier holder.

Once our baby found her fingers, pacis and thus the paci clips cycled quickly out of use. But for the short time we used this, we thought it was really cute... a little bulky and heavy for a younger infant, but probably great for an older infant who can get some entertainment out of it and it's easy to retrieve out of a crowded diaper bag.

Everywhere I look I see parents are getting ready for back to school.....I know it's still summer so why are we even thinking about school?! My son is still to young for school however he does need some new pants and since he is still growing, in order to save money I always like to get him pants that are bigger for him. got these for my boys. Only because there is a story behind trains in our growing family. Its how mommy and daddy met 11 years ago. Well. 5 years later on July 27, 2012 we are getting married and I love teaching my boys this story so they can grow up to tell to their kids someday. These are really neat idea. This is the first I've purchased from North American Bear Company, and dare say it shall not be the last. These plush friends are very well constructed, and wash beautifully when done according to instructions.

As stated in the product description they are not a large, overstuffed plush. The near flat body gives them a unique characteristic, which makes them perfectly 'huggable' for little arms. Our little boy simply loves playing with them!

North American Bear Company got every detail right with the Flatso line, so I hope to see them expand it with other animal characters in future.

My 16 month old daughter loves this bear! She sleeps with it and carries it around with her. It sees more than it's share of "roughness" but endures it all. The main reason I got this was because it was machine washable. This makes it a favorite of mommy as well as daughter!

Sassy Baby's Bucket of Beads Scented

I bought this for my infant for Christmas. I have had no problems snapping the beads together or taking them apart again. My daughter loves to play with them, mostly just chewing on them. She loves the container too. I take the top off and set it in front of her and let her get the beads out herself. She loves to play with the lid too, shaking it so that the handle clacks against the lid. My older daughter puts the beads together for her to play with. Overall, I think it was a good investment and she'll get years of use out of the toy.

I specifically wanted the beads show in the photo. My son loved them at his physical therapists office. I've had other pop beads, but really wanted the shape, texture, and color of the ones I ordered. Too bad the ones I got were completely different! And there was no invoice or receipt whatsoever in the package so I couldn't easily return them.

This scented beads smell good and chucky good size for toddler and babies to hold in their little hands. My 15 months age daughter loves it so do my 4 years old. It makes a circle my daughter can't connect them yet since it is hard to do but my age four son can do it. Who gave this woman a singing job on this toy is beyond me. It is by far the worst voice I have ever heard. I am a terrible singer and I could do better. And why are two of the shapes on her underbelly making it difficult for even a 1 year old to figure out. I would opt for the fisher price picnic basket instead. It won't hurt your brain as bad either to hear that singing vs this kangaroo.

We got this for my son on his first birthday. It took him about a month before he finally got the concept of putting the shapes in the right part of the sorter, or pressing the buttons. I think the bottom two shapes (triangle & circle) are the hardest because it's on the bottom and at an awkward angle. He does love to push the nose, which makes it sing or make funny noises. I know it says 9+ months, but I'm glad I waited as many of the shape sorters I looked at said 1+.

Cons:

The only thing i do not like, is that if you put the shape in even half way, it will reward you with a noise/name the shape, color or fruit as if you had put it in all the way. It kind of defeats the purpose of positive reinforcement. Also, the kangaroo belly is deep (in the back), and sometimes my son got frustrated trying to take the shapes out of the belly.

My mother in law gave this toy to my daughter a little over 2 years ago when she was 1 year 9 months old. My daughter just turned 4 and still loves to play with Mommy Kangaroo. This toy is still in the same shape than it was when it was given to my daughter and it has been used a lot. It uses two AA batteries and you won't need to change them at least before a year of use.

The songs are very cute in both English and Spanish and the translation is accurate. I love it and I will strongly recommend this for parents educating bilingual toddlers.

Spanish is our native language. My daughter speaks both English and Spanish and this toy was very helpful as she got it even before she started to utter her first words in either language.

I think the toy is a little pricey, but it is really a good quality toy.

This was a gift for my daughter when she was 6 months, so we put it away until her 9m birthday. Even now, though, at 16 months, she finds it really frustrating. Why? Because the shapes are on the kangaroo's pocket, where they are hard to see and harder to get the blocks into. The bilingual design is clever, the music catchy, and the toy is cute, but it fails at it's primary purpose.

My son loved this costume for Halloween this year. It's a simple costume, which I got a little bigger so he could wear a layer of warm clothes underneath. The mask was easier than others to see out of according to him and he said it wasn't as "sweaty" because of some air vents in the mouth/nose area. I would recommend ordering the blaster gun with it because we could not find one anywhere. For the price, it was spot on. He'll wear it playing now probably till he out grows it.

THe costume came in speedy time and in great shape. The plastic mask was a hard plastic and durable. It was not the flimsy type found in most costumes. The only small concern was the cape only had one little velcro fastener and it was in the middle of the cape. It is easily fixed with safety pins at the opposite ends of the cape. My son loved his costume and didn't have troubles breathing with it. The mouth part has several slits wide enough to breath through. It is held on with elastic and velcro tabs on the mask.

I purchased this costume for my 8 year old grandson in a size Medium. It fits just right in the length; a size large would have been too long. My grandson was thrilled when he saw it and wore it for hours on the first day. I convinced him that he needed to put it away or it would be worn out before Halloween. Fun rates a 5-star. The costume is made in China (thumbs down) and has the Star Wars/Lucasfilm trademark. The material is polyester and is thin but is adequate to go over clothing. The bottom hem on the legs has overcast stitching. I had a slight issue with the cape that just hangs in the back and is attached with a velcro square. It looks fine in the picture, but in person it looks dumb. Picture a towel hanging on a hook. So I pinned (to be sewn) the top corners of the cape to the neckline so that it comes over the shoulder and looks much better. The cape itself appears to be a quick cut & dash, no overcast stitching, has scalloped-cut edges to simulate it "waving" (I guess) and doesn't look like it will ravel. It fulfills his need for a Halloween costume.

I bought this for my sons first Halloween and was so excited for him to wear it. It's very cute and I loved all the snaps on the legs so I could change him. The first time i tried it on it was fine. I unsnapped it and didn't put it on him again until Halloween. Last night was Halloween and when I went to put on the costume EVERY SINGLE SNAP WAS BROKEN! I've purchased countless things on Amazon, and this is the first time I've felt strongly enough about a product to review it. This costume is terrific. We bought the 6-12 month size for our 9-month-old's first Halloween. The costume looks exactly like the one in the picture. The monkey fur is incredibly soft, and my son seems to be comfortable in the suit. He wore it for nearly two hours during a fall photo shoot last week without complaint. Despite the fact that he is in a 'hat removal' phase, he didn't even tug at the head piece. I suppose if I had one criticism, it would be that the paw booties are wont to fall off, although I am sure the fact that they are detachable is what makes the sizing so flexible. Incidentally, my son is a very small 9-month-old. He's still only 15 pounds and fits into this costume with room to grow. We are so excited to show the little guy off to friends and family!

Personally I trust the German laws and specs regarding materials and safety. Be aware that now not all Steiff toys are made in Germany, so you have to look closely.

We grew up with Steiff bears in Germany, and the classic Steiff bears are wonderful (real mohair, etc.)

But for a baby, they aren't quite perfect. We now know that you want to be careful about small parts (i.e. the beautiful glass eyes) and make sure the fibers are easy to clean and baby-safe, etc. This bear fills the bill admirably.

The only reason I held back on the rating is the branding/accessorizing. The marketing consultants have obviously (and sadly) been given full reign by Steiff, and things have consequently gotten dumbed down. Why on earth is this only available in pink and blue, and only in this particularly insipid style of pajamas???? Give me a break. Steiff has always had the conspicuous tag in the ear ("knopf im ohr") and that's all the brand-marking a high end product could ever need. Sadly, Steiff now sticks its brand name conspicuously elsewhere too (for example markets a bear labeled "my first Steiff") and some of the alternate clothing versions (which are so very much cuter than these rather uninspired pajamas) are plastered with prominent "Steiff" markings.

But once you ditch the pajamas, this is a very nice and reasonably priced bear, and one that we're confident is safe for our darling baby!

Do-N-Slide for Potty Training

The concept of this product is good but it is hard for little fingers to slide the cards. They tend to get pushed into either side under the trim and it is difficult to move them out as there is nothing to hold on to. A knob or something to grasp would be helpful. Also, they are very tight and are not real easy to slide. This may change with continued use. My little guy got bored with it quickly because he hard a hard time with it.

Parents Cell Phone Toy (colors may vary)

We bought this phone for our one-year-old son, and he loves it. It's probably not as interesting, educational or colorful as almost of the other toy phones out there, but it looks somewhat like a real phone with the grey color and flip top, so he feels like he's one of us (not sure why we'd want that, another annoying person in the world with a cell phone, but wait... we're his parents, and we're also those annoying people). With his little fingers, he had a difficult time opening the cover, but he eventually figured it out (it's probably best for kids ca. 2 year and up). The record function is sub-Radio Shack bare bones and only lasts for a few seconds--and doesn't store multiple recordings--but it works OK. The edges around the flip top are a little severe, but not unsafe: just not as rounded as other toy phones out there. Now for the kicker: the first two toy phones we bought just flat-out stopped working, so we called the company, got a representative on the line immediately, explained the problem, and they offered to send a replacement phone or give us our money back immediately. Now that's customer service! We just hope that the THIRD phone works and doesn't break. Bottom line: if you want a toy phone that looks a little like a real phone, get this one, but if you want something that is more educational, a little more sturdy and looks more like a toy, get another one, such as the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Learning Phone (we own an older version of this phone and it works great, but makes funny sounds as the batteries become run down).

Battat Inc. Recalls Parents® Magazine Toy Cell Phones for Choking Hazard

WASHINGTON, D.C. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of product: Parents® Magazine Record-A-Voice Toy Cell Phones

Units: About 14,000

Manufacturer: Battat Inc., of Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Hazard: The metal pin inside the hinge of the cell phone flip-top can fall out, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 54 reports of the metal pin falling out of the hinge. In two cases, consumers reported finding the pin inside a child's mouth, with one child receiving a cut in the mouth.

Description: The toy cell phone plays different songs, sound effects and user recorded messages. They were sold in polka dot, swirl, floral and stripe patterns, and the Parents® logo is visible inside the flip-top and on the battery compartment cover. Only items bearing date codes 090106 through 101206 are involved in this recall. The date code can be located on the bottom of the product packaging and in the battery compartment.

Sold by: Target stores nationwide from September 2006 to January 2007 for about $8.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should take these toy cell phones away from young children immediately and contact Battat to receive a replacement product or refund.

I agree that this is a really fun toy--my kids loved them while they lasted. We bought two for Christmas and they both broke within a few weeks, and it wasn't because of rough treatment. You can tell that they are definitely cheaply made. Too bad, the features were cool, as other reviewers have described.

My son (11mo.) loves my flip cell phone. We've tried other toy cell phones but they weren't flip phones. This one is PERFECTit is flip, it has sound AND it lights up. I finially have my phone back!

This phone seems to cater to chewers...the antennae is knobby. While the area around the keypad is very rounded, the top (screen) part is sharp. After chewing, my son has red irritation on the corners of his mouth. Needless to say, this phone has gone in the drawer until he is much older. Yes, my son is younger than 18 months, but nothing else about this phone seems dangerous.

For the phone itself: the record-your-voice function is pretty cool. It can hold an 8-second clip. The screen isn't really an LCD, just an image with a backlight. The voices and music (two 15-second songs) are very pleasant.

As for reliability...we have not used this phone enough for it to fail or prove itself.

I ordered this toy for my daughter and when it arrived it was dead. Changed the batteries and still nothing. I returned it and reordered thinking it was just a fluke. WRONG! The second one arrived with only 2 of the sections working and even then I had to actually squeeze the section in just the right way to get any sound.

Nice idea bad execution.

The product was defective or had been in storage to long. The batteries were corroded and the toy would not work. Amazon was great to take the toy back. I didn't reorder.

This is a very cute toy, with lots of bright colors and appealing shapes. But first of all, when it arrived, I was surprised by how small it was smaller than a regular dinner plate. Secondly, you have to hit the little bumps pretty hard to make any noise, and my one-year-old daughter can't really do that, especially with the hammer. I like that it was all soft, and that she could bang on it and make noise, but because she has to hit the thing so hard, she lost interest in it quickly. Maybe it would be better for older kids, but for one and under, at least from my experience, I wouldn't recommend it.

I was very disappointed with this toy. Only two of the five sounds could be hit hard enough to make them activate and that was with me strategically striking them. Even then they would only fire occassionally. My child couldn't make any of them make noise. It was a complete waste of money!

I put this on my 4 month old baby's carrier and he really likes it! Within a week he had learned to pull the rings and extend the body (it vibrates and shakes when rings are released). The different parts of the body have different textures and make different noises, and he enjoys grabbing and gnawing on it :-)

Elmo Comfy Fur Costume

Bought this for my size 24 month granddaughter and really loved it. However, I am so glad I read the other reviews which indicated the item ran small! I bought the size 3 / 4 and it fit her perfect. She generally wears a size 24 month while 2 T's are just a bit large for her, so I'm glad I went up in size. It looked adorable and since she could wear light weight clothing underneath it she didn't complain that it was itchy. The costume was just warm enough for her to go jacketless on a 50 degree Halloween!

This video is extremely brief but I uploaded it just to show how it looks on a toddler. My granddaughter absolutely loves the costume, and didn't want to take it off. Other reviewers have warned that the costume runs small, but my granddaughter is petite, so at 20 months she is able to wear the 12-18 months size. I gave the costume 3 stars for educational value because in this case educational value doesn't apply. I also gave it 3 stars for durability because I have seen a used Elmo costume and don't think it holds up well after its first use. I like the fact that the costume leaves the hands and feet free. We're very happy with this purchase and my granddaughter will have a great time being Elmo on Halloween.

This was so cute on our son! and we got so many compliments on it. Definitely order the next size up. Our 2 year old was in the standard 2T and the 3T-4T fit him great! Especially since I had another layer under it since we live in the midwest.

This is a really cute costume, but my son says it's itchy (due to the seams on the inside with some kind of plastic thread that pokes at him). It works find as long as he has on pj pants or something to act as a barrier against that seam.

Very cute, comfortable costume! Our son, who was around 10 mos old at the time, wore this for Halloween & got lots of praise. He didn't care for the hat, which was a bit large so it kept falling off, but I liked how the smock-like costume fit over a sweatsuit & kept him warm in Oct.

We got many compliments with this costume, but when I received it Thomas' face was sewed crooked on the costume, and it I would have had the time to send it back before Halloween I would have.

I'm only giving this product a 4 star rating b/c the hat is so terrible. It really is ugly and fits funny, plus it doesn't even look like a conductor hat. Other than that, I loved the actual "body" of the costume. I had a hard time finding a Thomas costume for my 18 month (25 lbs) old since the toddler aged one said "one-size" fits all...but then I found this costume. This is perfect for an 18month old and even a bit older...probably til 2 yrs. The picture shows a baby wearing it that is clearly younger than even 12 months...so don't be deceived.

My 16-month old loved this costume for Halloween! He is pretty lean and tall for his age, and Halloween was chilly this year. So, the costume was a bit snug on him because it ended up over a lined jacket. When he bent over for any reason, the front of the costume would double over when he stood back up. Nothing a simple unfolding couldn't handle, no big deal. The best part was watching his face light up when people saw him and called out, "Thomas!" He is now 18 months old and can't fit it at all.
