Purchased for my 3 month old daughter. I agree with the reviewer who stated that it was difficult to get the child in/out of the costume. Not well thought out! My problem is with the fit. It's HUGE on my daughter. This was labeled "newborn/0-6 months" but would easily fit a kid twice her size.. It swallows her up! In looking at the tag from the manufacturer, it's obviously been clipped at the bottom to remove sizing info. Very cute costume, too bad the company deliberately sent an incorrectly sized item. Buyer beware! ETA: my father-in-law purchased a rabbit costume from the same company for 0-6 and it's MUCH smaller (probably a little too small, it wouldn't fasten around her bottom) with a tag intact.

I love this costume, but I'm super frustrated and disappointed because the entire bottom half of the costume is sewn on sideways. The legs are sewn on front-to-back, instead of side-by-side. So, when she puts it on, the waist has to twist for her legs to fit in it. Fortunately, we can still make it work because I'm afraid we don't have enough time to send it back and get a new one, but I wish we did have time. SO disappointed :(

I loved this costume and we received many compliments on it as well. It is quite unique; we didn't run into any other Octopus' along the way. The only things I would change, if I could would be the material to be a little more stretchy and soft and also to have it open a different way than only on the arms up top. It was a bit difficult to get in and out of. BUT, with that said, it was still worth it!

I just purchased these on the 20th and received them today, the 22nd, so this company is super fast. My son had a lot of fun putting these up for his birthday party. I wasn't sure about these when I ordered them because there are no measurements, so I thought I would include some.

There is/are:

22 coins-each about 2.5" x 2"

1 Mario about 8" x 3.5"

1 Luigi about 8.5" x 3.5"

1 Piranha Plant about 8.5" x 5"

1 Princess Peach about 9" x 4.5"

1 Bowser 7.5" x 10" (wider than he is tall)

1 Big Mushroom about 5" x 6"

There are 4 sheets with a total of 48 stickers. They really are a good value at 14.99. I wish they were bigger. I would pay double for twice the size. Another thing I might change is the white border around each sticker. They would look better if the borders were gone (about 1/8" all the way around). I might take the time to cut them off one day.

My 5-year-old son is in absolute heaven!!! He has been begging for a Mario room forever. We just can't seem to find any Super Mario Bros. borders, bedding, etc. anywhere. I just happened upon these on Amazon and thought I would try them out. While they only show 10 or so wall stickers in the photo, there are actually 48! Boy does my son have a Mario room now. It is amazing. We painted the upper half of the room a bright sky blue and made the lower half of the wall grass green (all colors were matched from Mario Sunshine booklet). The green color undulates across the wall making hills and valleys. I painted some white clouds in the sky. The quality of the stickers seems very nice (although time will tell) and they reposition well. As long as it lasts through the Mario stage, I'm happy!!!

As far as educational, my son has spent hours imagining these creatures coming to life. He has adventures and battles and all sorts of fun in his room.

Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Baby's First Blocks

As my 14 month daughter works on getting the right shape in the right hole. It's true that sometimes she just gets frustrated and picks up the lid and throws the shapes in the bucket instead of sorting them, but when I play with her talk to her and ask her where each shape goes she really focuses and we get them together. She looks so proud of herself when she gets them right, too! But even when she is playing by herself and taking the lid off, it's still a very fun toy for her to put them all in, take them out, and do it all over again!

This is a basic, durable, inexpensive toy. However what I don't care for is the fact that the lid doesn't snap on. I'm sure this is that way so babies can take it off, but I prefer the sorter that the child has to put the shapes through the holes. My baby figured out that it was easier to take the lid off! I like the Smartronics cookie jar sorter much better.

My son received this toy as a gift for his 6-month birthday. At the time, I remember hearing about how some plastic toys (often made in China) contain harmful chemicals that are known to cause cancer and feeling concerned that this toy might be one of them. I didn't do anything for awhile, seeing how my son enjoyed playing with the toy and thinking (stupidly) that if this toy were truly harmful, it wouldn't be sold in the U.S.

One day, I came across this toy on Amazon and noticed the warning to CA residents under "Product Details." I couldn't believe it when I read this toy is made with harmful chemicals known to "cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm." I bet a lot of people who are giving this toy 5 stars are not aware of the warning.

UPDATE TO REVIEW ON 10-28-09: Amazon has removed the warning about the harmful chemicals, and in response to an inquiry I sent them told me "Product information from the item detail is added or deleted upon manufacturers information." Amazon suggested I contacted FP, which I did, and the FP rep said he couldn't find anything in their records indicating the toy's manufacturing had been changed. The toy's production has not been altered since 2007. He suggested that perhaps the warning wasn't accurate, and that's why it was removed. That may be, but it seems like a pretty big mistake for Amazon to make on multiple FP toys. I see now that none of the FP toys that previously had this warning have it now.

As for my son's reaction to the toy, he liked to bang the pieces together and put them in his mouth, but he never bothered to try to sort the shapes since the top doesn't stay in place, as others have mentioned. My son always removed the top and took out all of the pieces, no matter how many times I showed him how to sort the shapes with the top in place. Talk about poor design! I should have given it 1 star for the "educational" rating in hindsight, but I figured that theoretically it could be of some value if a child didn't remove the top. Also, Amazon wouldn't let me go back and change my ratings.

I just got another shape sorter for him from Amazon (the Tolo Rolling Shape Sorter), and within minutes he tried to put the shapes in the slots because he couldn't remove either the top or the bottom of the unit. Now that's an educational toy!

With all the recent news about lead, BPA and other harmful chemicals being found in many children's toys, I've been investigating any toy my child has been given. Someone gave my 7 month old this as a gift. It doesn't say "BPA Free" or anything on the box, so I decided to call the company.

Fisher Price has only issued this statement (here's my paraphrase): that BPA is a known carcinogen, and that it is dangerous when food products come in contact with it. Since Fisher Price does not sell any "food storage" items like bottles or nipples, it is not as much of an issue. They do not put BPA in their high chairs, but do use it in their toys.

So, I'm not going to let my son use it....as EVERYTHING ends up in his mouth :)

One good thing I can say about Fisher Price is that it was easy to get ahold of a customer service rep. If this concerns you at all, give them a call, too! The more people who call and say it's important, the more likely they are to change their practices and produce safer toys for our children.

I am surprised at how many people complain about how easily the lid removes. My daughter received this toy at 6 months old. It SHOULD go without saying, but at six months old they are not looking for specific shapes as much as basic concepts. She would bang the blocks together, bang the bucket parts together, and dump the shapes out and put them back in, over and over. Then a couple months later, she started trying to put the lid on; because of the ease it encouraged her and she would get so proud of herself. By the time she was a year old she would set the lid on the ground and match the shapes up on the carpet. Then she would clean up her mess and put the lid on. Now at 14 months, she is able to use the toy for what it is intended. The colors of the toy are vibrant, which is a wonderful thing for a child's development in the early years. My daughter loves this toy and she is extremely advanced for her age. Baby's don't just magically learn their shapes because you gave them a toy. A six month old need to be taught, and there are a lot of lessons that come before putting small shapes in a hole.

My daughter has a tracheostomy and is on a ventilator. I had heard about this product on as a good way to get your child to tolerate tummy time. It is fabulous! My daughter hates tummy time because she has to lie on top of the tubes and it's uncomfortable. This allows her to be up off the ground and the tubes can kind of hang to the side. It's also very good for getting her to use her arms. She loves the crinkly pieces and will tolerate tummy time much longer this way. If you have a special needs child who needs assistance with development, I would highly recommend this.

My DD (5 months) just got this for Christmas and she loves it (she got the Garden version not the Sea version) . . . . She is able to spin herself around and check out the various things (mirrors, crinkle fabric, etc) Yes it is a plastic "belly board" for them to lie onmy DD hasn't really objected to it being uncomfortable and if/ when she does it's easy enough to fold up a blanket on the surf board. She tends to play with it for a while and then get tired of tummy time for a while, but then she'll play with it again when she's in a better mood, she seems to prefer this to a normal tummy time mat since it gets her belly out of the way and she can see the fun toys better, and it seems to develop neck strength, but also arm & leg strength as they turn themselves from place to place.

My 3 month old is not a fan of tummy time but since I have been using the Lamaze Spin and Explore The Sea, tummy time has been more enjoyable for both of us. He loves tthe bright colors, and he spins himself around to see all the different fish.. He likes the flaps because they make sounds when he grabs them, and he gets so excited when he finds there are more fish under them. After using it a couple of times for a couple of weeks, I tried tummy time without it, and my baby seemed to enjoy tummy time more. Okay, this product stinks. The concept is great, but the product isn't. The spinning thing is quite hard and not comfortable to lay on for long periods. My 4-month old is much happier laying in the same position on something that's much softer, like a boppy pillow (which we don't have, but he likes the one at his daycare). We have 3 tummy time mats, and this one is by far the worst quality. It constantly bunches up and is pilling even though it's barely been used. The bunching up issue is even worse since the mat/spinner set are designed so a baby would really be grabbing onto the mat while spinning so you'd think the mat would be a little sturdier to grab onto, but the way it is, it's really hard for the baby to grab and spin.

I had hopes for this toy because my 3 month old HATES tummy time. But it was pretty much a waste of money the surf board is pretty hard and seems uncomfortable and the mat is very small. When I spin him around his hands drag and pull the mat with him and it bunches up making it a lot of effort to keep flat. He doesn't like it any more than regular tummy time...

Zooley Natural Teething Toy

Our baby has been enjoying this toy on a regular basis for several months (consequently, meaning it's been washed a lot), yet it shows no signs of wear. The ringing it makes when shaken is pleasant and can be easily tolerated by parents for hours, unlike some similar toys. Love that it's a natural product, but disappointed that it's made in China and not the US or Canada. We would own all the Zooley teething rings if they were produced here. Overall, this toy is definitely worth the cost.

This is a really cute toy! I bought it for my grandson, who is 7 months old. After he watched his Mommy put the boulders down the chutes, he figured out how to do it himself. And the trucks are a good fit, for his little hands. A good hand eye coordination, for your little one!

I bought this toy for my 6 month old son. He is still a little too small to enjoy it thoroughly. He likes the noises it makes when the boulder's drop into the dump truck, and he likes to play with the dump truck and bulldozer. He is not however old enough to play with it by himself yet, but I hope it will help teach him cause and affect, you scoot the dump truck down the ramp and a boulder comes out and lands in the dump truck box. I think eventually, he will come to love this toy.

this shovel is indestructible kids can stomp on it, try to move beach boulders with it, and the thing does not break. we have had ours for 3 years simply the best toy you can give a kid some kids just love to dig, at the beach, in the back yard, in the alley they can amuse themselves for hours digging this shovel will stand up to all kinds of abuse easy for their small hands to handles, and hoses down for cleaning. we have bought lots of toy shovels, at kmart, at toys stores, etc but they all bust in a week or two... this is top quality. happy digging.

This shovel has a plastic handle that is two pieces. The handle joins the shovel at a joint that is secured with a screw. The flex at this point is pretty dramatic. if you are digging in the sand, the handle feels like it is bending. Bought a wooden handle shovel at half the price and it feels a lot more sturdy.

My daughter is 6 months old and really enjoys this toy. She likes to spin the bird and the lion's mane. She isnt quite coordinated enough yet to push the monkey, but its just a metter of time. The cute sounds and lights reward her and keep her interested for 10-15 minutes.
