Chicco Toys DJ Guitar

Like chicco's other toys, this one is of very good quality too. It is very sturdy and very colorfull. We bought this toy a few days ago and this is really a great toy. It works great and has super cute sounds. It has 20+ prerecorded melodies and is endless fun for little ones. Compared to other guitars out there it has more melodies and functions than any other you can find on the market. Fabulous toy for a great price too.

We bought this little musical "guitar" when my son was 4 months old. He was slightly unsure of it at 4 months, but by 5 months, he really enjoyed trying to hit the buttons or having us activate the music for him. At 15 months we use it to calm him down in moments of toddler melt down. I keep looking for other little electronic guitars for him, but nothing I find seems like it would serve any better than this little toy, I'm glad we purchased it.

Chicco Toys (an Italian company) puts tons of R&D into the musical aspect of their toys (you don't see this from other companies), so I'll have to explain this toy:

1. Musical styles: Chicco says that these styles are: Rock, Pop and Blues. I have to disagree, to me they seem to be: Country-ish Rock, Country-ish Pop; 3. Sort-of Blues. In any case, the styles are still entertaining in their own right, at least they aren't public-domain standard-hear-everywhere -farmer-in-the-dell music. You won't recognize these tunes from anywhere, which is why they don't get repetitive the way other toys do. They don't bother me due to the variety of them, and I don't particularly listen to country (or rock or blues, I listen to Elmo....another story.....). The musical styles are controlled on a dial with these three settings.

2. Play Modes: There are three play modes, controlled on a dial with three settings

2.1 Short tunes: Press a button, guitar plays a short threesecond tune. My son likes this mode.

2.2 Long tunes ("pre-recorded"): Press a button, guitar plays about an 22 second tune. If you press any of the buttons during the tune, the animal sound on that respective button sounds. My son likes this mode as well.

2.3 "Follow me": Random button flashes, baby is expected to press the flashing button to hear music. If you press any other non-flashing button, nothing happens. At 15 months, my son still doesn't seem to be too interested in this one, it's definitely on the more advanced side.

3. Mixer functions: They add add sound and activate the lights on the "fretboard" buttons:

3.1 The drums button lets you hit a snare drum sound, it's ok, you can amuse the baby with this, or it can be used to help the baby learn to press a button, it's oversized.

3.2 The Whammy Bar adds in a whammy bar guitar squeal.

3.3 A blue spinner ball that the baby can spin to either accelerate or decelarate the music (only functional in the Long Mode play mode). The baby figured this one out quite quickly, by 6 months at least. The baby sitters all figure this out too, so it's quite intuitive.

4. Other functionality:

4.1 Strum button (like where you would strum the guitar, it's the yellow button you see in the image like where strings should be), and it plays its own little musical segment. But it interrupts the main ongoing music, which doesn't resume afterwards.

4.2 Animal sounds: When you are in Long music, "Pre-recorded melodies" setting (lower left, second dial over), then this allows you to keep presssing the keys on the fretboard and play the animal sounds while the music plays (similar to the Chicco walker). This doesn't work in "Short Tunes" mode, or in the "Follow-me" game (limited to the key being activated at that time). These animal sounds are the same sounds as on the Chicco DJ Walker, for anyone familiar with that toy, so Dog, Chick, Cat, Pig, and Frog sounds.

4.3 Volume: There is a dial with "Off" (turns toy off),"low" and "high". Low is happily decently low (that's what we use), and "high" still isn't super loud, so all I can say is yay.

4.4 Battery use: Toy is very good on battery use, I've only replaced the batteries once in the last year since we've purchased it.

Note: "Ghost in the machine": I'd recommend turning the guitar off at night, in my experience it can activate on its own, even when not super low on batteries (apparently this is common in children's toys electronics). Not great to go out and detect in the middle of the night.

In summary, we're very happy with this toy, it's lots of fun and the variety of tunes means that they aren't repetitive.

Overall, this is a good buy. I purchased this guitar for my 1 year old nephew so that he would stop trying to play with his uncle's Guitar Hero and it worked.

There's really not much for a child to do with this but listen to the different tunes. If that works for your child it does a great job. If you want your child to learn from it I don't think it does much there.

Manhattan Toy Beads Wood Rattle

My 5 month old received this toy for Christmas from a dear friend. The quality is excellent and we couldn't help but pass it around...it's a great fidget toy for toddlers too. Compared to the Haba version, this one has more colors and more spheres than the competition. This could be a downside if you have a little one who isn't fully sitting up to play, as it is heavy for a baby to hold above their face as they lie on their back. Overall a stimulating and educational toy for all ages and definitely one to pass down.

I have not seen a child play with these, though wow, they feel great and look great, so I think kids would love them. But I'm a grown up with rheumatoid arthritis that includes my hands, and I love them for hand therapy.

I've used quite a few wooden toys for therapy with my hands. I'll bet they would cost 5 to 10 times as much if sold for therapy, and wouldn't be painted those great colors! The colors have helped get me to use them, and they have done me a whole lot of good.

These wooden toys are so well-made that I still have all the many I've bought, ready for action. For the last 3 1/2 years I've been combing a Standard Poodle daily, and that has turned out to be great therapy for my hands. So the wooden toys have been standing by, looking good and ready for action when needed.

This is a quiet toy, beautiful and well made, and the balls are just right for my hand needs. I certainly recommend it!

Our son has been interested in balls since he was just a couple of months old, so when I saw this toy I thought it would be the perfect clutching toy for him. We have the classic ball rattle. It is very well-made, wooden with very bright, pretty colors and it can be manipulated and balls will clack against each other. I had high hopes for this becoming a popular toy with my son, but over the months as he got older he didn't express much interest in it. He would pick it up every so often and hold it for about 10 seconds and then drop it. He is 17 months now and he will pick up the toy sometimes and say "ball" and try to pull them apart. It seems he would like them to be separated, probably so he can throw them and play with them like a regular ball, though we have plenty of those around the house. So all in all, for us this toy didn't really work out, though I don't know that is was necessarily because of a bad design, just our son's personal preference.

My 6 month old daughter immediately loved this toy, but I am returning it because the paint started chipping (big chunks) as soon as I received it. I checked the company's website, and although the paint is supposed to be non-toxic, I still don't want my baby eating/licking paint, non-toxic or not. Plus, this toy wasn't cheap. Sadly, I have decided to return it and not get another one.

My 8 month old daughter has enjoyed many Manhattan Toys, but I am shocked that this rattle is considered appropriate for any teething baby. The paint chipped off and my daughter left teeth marks on it. I washed the toy (by hand like I do anything that goes in her mouth) and that led to the wood cracking and further paint peeling. I threw it away minutes after I received the toy. I had bought it because she enjoyed a different wood rattle where the wood was colored with organic dyes. That is the way to go with a wood rattle.

Tiny Love Take Along Mobile

My 9 week old son just loves this mobile so much. He refused to stay in his pack n play bassinet while awake until I set this up for him. I think he likes this one more than the Precious Planet one in his crib. He talks to it and tries to bat at the little animals. Definitely one of the best purchases I have made. I also clip the mobile onto his car seat if we are out somewhere or to calm him down when getting ready to leave home. The music is not annoying either and volume on it is also great.

It's not the cutest mobile or the largest mobile ever, but for our purposes, we LOVE it! It fit great on the cradle until our infant moved into the crib. It went smoothly from the cradle to the crib the attachment is great. I think it helped the transition from beds as well. It fits onto the pack and play well which I think helps him still feel secure with the familiar mobile no matter which "bed" he's in.

I LOVE that you can choose between movement with music or JUST movement (no sound). I think all the mechanical/electronic mobile music sounds are always way too loud. The movement sound, which it does make, is simply like a white noise. I actually like the white noise it creates, because I think it helps drown out some of the bustling household noises during nap times for him.

I was hoping for a beautiful mobile that would coordinate with the decor, and it's sort of tacky-baby-toyish in that way. It's also sort of small sized mobile and the the toys are sort of cute. However, the functionality is great and he REALLY loves watching it and falling to sleep watching it, which is really it's purpose anyway!

I am thoroughly pleased with this product and I'm sure my wife and daughter would agree. Everything was as expected. We already have one mobile on our daughter's crib upstairs and wanted to have another downstairs since her wind up one broke. With the attachments, it can be put almost anywhere. Currently, we have it attached to the Rock N' Play with the arm. When we leave, we just un-velcro it from the arm and attach it to the car seat (Chicco Keyfit 30); it's great. I was afraid it was going to hang to far down in the car seat to where it was going to be in her face, but it is not; it's right where it should be. Music and battery life is good to go so far. We have been running Rayovac batteries for about 2 or 3 weeks now and it seems to still be going strong. We like it and it entertains our daughter. I recommend this product.

I like that this is portable, and I usually like the "tiny love" brand, but the mobile moves too slow, and there is no way to secure the arm from swinging around (we like to use it in the car to help distract and upset baby). Since the arm swings around, a parent has to hold it if you use it in a moving vehicle. On the positive side, I like that you can shut the music off and my 2-3 month old is entranced by the mobile.

This mobile fits nicely on my Arm's Reach Mini Co-sleeper just make sure you put the mobile right over the middle (and thickest) part of the ledge. It's been with my daughter since birth, and she's now 4 months old. It took a little bit of getting used to (probably about 1 month), but the soothing music is now a great help in putting her to sleep. I took off a star from the rating because the switch that changes between the OFF/Music/Mobile Only positions is hard to flip with one hand. I tried to do that a few times with my free hand while I have my daughter in my other arm, and I ended up almost knocking the mobile over. Also I wish there was volume control on this thing. But overall this is a great product and well worth the money.

I ordered this costume for my baby who will be 10 months old for Halloween but already wears size 18m at 8 months old. The description of the costume in the search results says it is size 2-4, but there are buttons that allow you to select size 0-6 months, 6-12 months, or 12-24 months. I figured a size 12-24 months would be perfect for my baby this year, and probably still fit him next year. What arrived was a size 2-4T costume. This is okay, because I will be able to use it in the future, but it is not the size I thought I ordered so be aware when you are ordering that you may get a size 2-4T regardless of the size you specify.

The costume looks cute, and although it's too big for my baby this year it will be a fun costume next year.

Good, quality product. It has seems for little nasties to hide. I didn't like that, but that didn't become a problem as my son didn't care for the toy whatsoever. the "rattle" feature is so minimul (as i. Too quiet) you have sain to hear it.

Kelsyus Go With Me Chair

I plan to use this chair for our granddaughter when she camps with us. As she is only 15 months old, this chair should fit for years. The carrying case was not sown properly, but can be easily fixed. The problem is not worth returning it.

Wish we had got this a year ago! Much of the neat stuff is first year. Still is a great piece of baby gear for a couple of more years.

VTech - Learn and Discover Driver

This toy has limited interest for my son. I bought it for him when he was 18 mos (he is now 2). He occasionally plays with it for maybe 5 minutes at a time. If you put it on a smooth surface (table, hardwood floor) it slides around when he tried to turn the wheel or pushes/pulls the gearshift. Also it is very LOUD and I find the tone of voice kind of rude: On the horn: "out of the way", on the gas button "fill er up" but the tone of voice isn't nice it sounds like a rude little kid demanding that he be listened to....NOW. Except for the police button which says "slow down little fellow" the rest of them sound like spoiled brats! Not recommended.

At first glance it seemed to be the perfect gift for a baby with a thing for all things wheels and musical. AND normally I really trust the Vtech name so I didn't look at the item too closely prior to buying it. But it didn't take long for me to realize what a mistake I made. Yes, he likes it very much and uses it well, and it performs well etc. However, I will agree that there is NOTHING nice about how the voices speak or what they say and I would never think that I would have such a 'prudish' view on a baby toy! But it is rude, it is obnoxious and I don't like the message if you can say that there is one I mean they could have had much more endearing snippets. There is little education in it really and the songs are short the lyrics to the ABC song is half cut out?!?!? I could do without having education in a toy but that coupled with the bad attitude I have one thing to say "Outta' my house"

The older version of this toy is MUCH better with friendlier voices and helpful 'neighbors'. Vtech should go back to the old version.

I bought my son this driver when he was about 7 months old. At first he loved it. It makes all sorts of entertaining sounds for a baby. His favorites were the shifting sounds which he could easily activate (by moving the gear shift). He also loved the radio button especially when it played "Are you driving" (it is the brother john tune). While my son loved the noises this thing makes, I find that they can get very annoying, especially since the low volume is very loud.

After a few months, my son lost interest in this toy. He still plays with it occasionally, but it is no longer a favorite. At almost a year, he still never actually "drove" the toy. Perhaps once he learns to do this, he will regain interest in it. When the wheel is turned, the rollers spin. When they stop, the toy says one of three phrases about the pictures that show up. For example, "green square", "two bees" or "b is for bee" is said when the roller shows a picture with two bees and a green square. This could be educational once my son gets a little older.

One thing my son did learn to do pretty quickly was turn the toy on and off. The switch is sort of like a key in the ignition. It is very securely attatched though. I like that it is easy to turn so that my son can work it by himself. Most toys I have to start for him. Overall, I think I got my moneys worth. $15 dollars is a decent price for a few months of daily entertainment, even if my son never takes to it again.

I'm sad to see this toy getting such poor reviews. Yes, it does say "get out of the way" and "slow down little fella", but my DAUGHTER still loves it. The volume control on the bottom is loud and louder, and that's definitely a negative for me of course it doesn't bother my toddler. But all in all, this toy has been great. It's been well-loved and still works like new. My toddler loves to drive, and this toy has kept her interest for over a year. Just because it's not specifically designed for education doesn't mean there's nothing to be gained. We make it educational by naming the animals, shapes, numbers, letters and colors on the toy. We also sing the songs on the "radio" my child has gotten so good at it, that she can hit the button in rapid succession to get to the song she wants. Fun toy!

We have bought 2 of these bunnies. My son sleeps with his "Bun Bun" every night. It's not very big perfect for little hands. He holds it and sucks his thumb. So cute!! I wash it in the machine but put it in the dryer for a few seconds then line dry it! Doesn't take long for it to dry just a few hrs.. Love it!

We ordered this also for our youngest grandson. His momma said he really loves it! Soft and cuddly and just the right size for our lil guy!

After the first 30 mins my kids were in it, it started losing air. They love playing in the pool, but my husband has patched it 2x and had to spray the outside of the pool with rubber sealant for it to stop.

I bought this for my two year old son and he loves it! I don't even have to fill it with water and he still has a great time. I love there are so many different things for him to do. Also, the slide is very sturdy.

As I expected it is not very durable. The wheel that spins was deflated and no longer worked after the first two weeks. I was hoping for better. The kids did love it though so I gave it three stars. It is plenty big for my triplets to play in. It's fun if you can find a "Little Tikes" slide to use with it.

We had an issue with the first pool not holding air. But amazon was great about us sending it back and replacing it immediately. The new pool is up and staying up!! My grandson is 14 months old and its the perfect size for him and his cousin to play in. Id recommend this size pool for 2-3 toddlers to play in at once. It has a neat little sprinkler feature to it and comes with a few plastic balls that go into the hanging tube. There is a safety landing pad at the base of the slide which is great for when kids get a little over excited and tend to land a bit harder. The price was great too and worth the 40 dollars.

A side note: There are multiple places to inflate different parts of this pool. So dont be expecting to have this thing up in minutes...It will take atleast 20-30 minutes to set it up. We used an electric air pump on the bigger parts.

Sassy Developmental Wonder Wheel Suction Toy

This is a fun and bright toy that has great suction! I have had this toy for about 2 months (my son is 6 months now) and he has enjoyed this toy since we got it. He finds new aspects to the toy every week. At first, he liked that if he hit it, it would spin. Then the next week he noticed the rings on the bottom, and the next week he noticed the small spinning boxes on the inside. It seems to excite him when he gets in his high chair! Best part is that is has great suction!

I love this toy! Entertains baby in highchair better than any toy I have purchased so far. Easy to spin and continuously spins for awhile. The rattle sounds also entertains my baby. Great toy!

This is a great toy and my daughter loves it...HOWEVER, the reason I purchased this over other similar toys was because of all the reviews that stated how this toy had good suction, unlike others like it; and other similar toys all had bad reviews about the poor suction. Toys can be so dependent on your child's preference so reading reviews that say 'my child loves this' always makes me wonder. However what I think is fantastic about this toy is that it is a wheel and makes a soft swooshing noise when it turns so it really grabs my childs attention and she loves it. It generally always sticks too, however if its having trouble I put a drop of water on the bottom and then attach it and it will stick. Places that she really enjoys playing with it is at her highchair and on the floor. It was also brilliant when we went on a holiday the other weekend and we stuck it to the restaurant table where she had her highchair and she enjoyed it for ages!

My child is only 4 months old but so far this toy keeps her interested while in her high chair. Now that she can reach the toy when I push her seat forward she likes to spin it and then stop it. This has really come in handy after she has eaten her meal but the rest of the family is still at the table eating. It gives her something to do at this time. It has the perfect blend of bright colors and a rattling sound without being annoying to everyone. Also, I didn't know this when I purchased it but on the packaging it said it is made without any paint that could chip off so I was really happy about that. I would recommend this toy if you don't want to buy a bunch of different things but just want a go-to high chair toy that will keep baby interested.

Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Snap-Lock Caterpillar

My mother in law purchased this for our 8 month old son. I was very appreciative for the thoughtfulness but I expected it to be just another item for the toy box, boy was I wrong. Our son loves this toy!!! It has parts that rattle, spin and turn in addition to great nubs for chewing. I think that his favorite part is ripping each section apart. It takes a little but of effort for him to get it apart even though he is large and strong for his age, so I think that aspect will still be entertaining for a while. Overall I am thrilled that she purchased this toy for him and I would definitely purchase it as a gift for a friend.

I am pleased with the Fisher Price Caterpillar. It was a gift for my new little granddaughter, Hailey. The colors are very vivid and it is another quality product from this company. I have been purchasing Fisher Price toys since 1974 when I had my first baby. Since then, I have purchased dozens of Fisher Price toys through the growing up years of my six children and now through the additions of 17 grandchildren. In fact, my grandchildren are still enjoying play time with toys that their parents played with including the Sesame Street Club House and the Fisher Price Castle.

My 6 month old likes this toy. Its a lot bigger than it looks in the pictures. Its not huge, just bigger than I though. The bug comes apart into "beads" that are each about 3 inches long. My daughter chews on the antennas. She's too little to try to put the bug back together, so the pieces are kind of everywhere at the moment. Overall, its a good little toy.

Mary Meyer Print Pizzazz 12" Plush Pillow Body

Very cute, soft and great pattern. The only thing that would be even better is if the feet attached to each other to make a pillow pet type animal...this is mostly a pillow, though you can fold it together, just doesn't attach. Would definitely recommend this designers work

A big hit with my sensory seeking son. I bought the gamut of human chew toys for my son and this one, by far, was the winner. It's sturdy enough that his teeth aren't tearing it, yet flexible enough to give son the output he needs. 4 out of 5 stars due to the lame black cording. I wound up hooking the charm through a binder ring and then attaching that to a retractable keychain (2 bucks). My son just clips it onto the front of his pants and he's off to school.

I liked that there was a bracelet and necklace. The bracelet is too big for a young child, and can be easily lost. The material of the product was great,even though my daughter was able to chew through it. The biggest complaint is the necklace, it's very thin/cheap. There isn't a breakaway on it, and my concern was strangulation. I had planned on putting it on a breakaway lanyard, however the opening is far too small to put on much else.

My 9yo son is high-functioning autistic, and liked to chew holes in the collars of his shirts while doing his work at school. After several Google searches, we decided together that this would be the best alternative. The morning of the first day, I was worried about whether or not it would even last through the school day... the cord seemed flimsy, and while the jewel didn't, my son already has many of his adult teeth, and I wasn't sure he wouldn't just chew through it.

Fast-forward to the end of that day... when he came home, the cord was broken (though it did last until the bus ride home). His t-shirt, however, was unmolested, and his teacher even sent a note home about how chewing on the necklace seemed to help him focus in class.

We went to Michael's that evening and found a few different cords; we went through three rubbery ones before we tried a different one that seems that better, and has been holding up nicely. So definitely buy this thing if your kid needs it -it's worth it, even if you have to spend a little extra to find a cord that works for you.

Disguise Costumes Marvels Super Hero Squad Captain America Infant Costume

I bought this for my son for Halloween and I must say, it looked really cute. The costume is pretty true to the photo in the description of this product and fits nicely for the intended age I bought it for. I would recommend that this costume goes over some warmer clothes as the material is quite thin. All in all, this is a good product at a good price if you want your child to look like a cute superhero.

Thank you for making our Halloween so special! This costume was adorable with Mommy and Daddy Avengers costumes as well. Yes, costume is a little different than picture, but not noticeable. Our son is large and going with typical baby sizing we were fine. (for him we go a size larger on everything, no exception here)

I've just receievd this item and it looks adorable but one of the two pieces is missing -the cap isn't included in the package. It's supposed to be, but it's not there :--( I will try to contact the provider to get the cap shipped. I will update this review with the results. UPDATE 11/4/2012: Amazon made good on this and over-nighted me a replacement set. The costume fit my 14-month-old well, was easy to use and worked out great.

Gund Hoagie Brown 13" Bear Plush

This bear is super cute, much cuter than in the picture. The snout/muzzle goes out farther (like most Gund bears) and it has a big pop-belly. It has beads in the bottom so it's sort of weighted and can sit up on it's own. It is not overly stuffed so it's very huggable. The 'fur' is very plush and soft. He's a great size too. This has become my toddler's favorite lovie by far and is a constant companion. Naps, outings, errands, he has even flown! Very cute and lovable like all Gund products.

Very cute!!!! He is exactly as described, for sure we will be getting more bears from Gund collection.

It was the first Gund bear I have ever purchased as a gift. It is hard to imagine how big it is judging by the size specified in inches, and majority of reviewers agree that they thought the bear would be a little bit bigger. Nevertheless, it is well made from good quality materials and looks very cute. It should be a very good friend for little kids not too small, but also not overwhelmingly big. The kid who got it loved it!

Mary Meyer Sweet Rascals, Wolfie Wolf, 9"

My daughter got this wolf a year or two ago, and still spends more time with it than any of her other toys, often falling asleep at night hugging it. It is surprisingly soft and cuddly, and has a very endearing innocent look. Very well crafted. Due to the softness of the fabric, you would probably want to protect it from rough handling by siblings, though we've seen no damage yet.
