Melissa & Doug Zoo Animals Touch and Feel Puzzle

My 15-month old son loves this puzzle from Melissa and Doug. He loves how each animal has a different texture that he can touch and explore. He loves to try to imitate the animal sounds for each animal. The pieces are easy to take out and put in because they are large and slightly raised from the puzzle board. This puzzle will be fun for him for a long time as he learns to do it by himself. The pieces and board are also very durable and high-quality. So far, all Melissa and Doug toys and puzzles I have bought are great. I would recommend buying this puzzle as well as their deluxe wire puzzle storage rack.

My son is almost two and for the past several months he has loved playing with Melissa and Doug puzzles. They are bright, sturdy, and the chunky pieces are easy for him to manipulate. He has learned so many words from us playing with the puzzles together. This one is special in that it has textured material on each animal, but he hasn't really seemed to notice that much.

Both items were presents for my little grand-daughter's birthday. She is having a "zoo" themed party so I thought these would be perfect gifts. Her family loves visiting different zoos. The book lists all different animals, even some very unique creatures! The puzzle was very colorful with some texture to it that I'm sure will appeal to little ones.

LeapFrog Baby Little Leaps: Leap Ahead

There are 1 or 2 seconds of delay after a kid hit the button, and the kids will not wait for that time. Without immediate response from the screen, the kids will not know what causes the action in the screen. Good idea but not a good product

Okay, I'm not one to write reviews normally, but I had to for this one. Either my daughter is a genius, or this "game" is LAME. Although she is 2 1/2 and has known her alphabet since she was 2, and has been able to count to 10 even before that, I thought maybe this would be fun for her to try. First of all, two of the "games" aren't games at all the shapes one is just a video of a bird drawing 4 shapes, and then it's over. No interaction at all. The animal one is just lessons on different animals, and the joystick controls which animals you view, but it's not a game either. The alphabet game only teaches a few letters, and that's it. You would think it would teach all 26, but no. The "feeding the pig" game counts to 10, but doesn't do much. And the whole DVD intermittently uses the same puppets that were in the infant games. My daughter likes to play this thing, but gets bored quickly. I'll save it for my next child, and introduce it to him much earlier.

Little Tikes 2-in-1 Snug N Secure Swing-Pink

My two year old daughter was swinging in this same swing when out of no where she went flying....the piece that goes in between their legs just snapped in half and sent her into the air. Luckily my husband was pushing her and caught her before she hit the ground. It was extremely scary and we have no clue why it did that...the swing was not yet a year old and seemed to be in fine condition. The weight limit was up to 45 lbs and my daughter is only 25 lbs. Just want to warm other parents of the risk!

This swing is great...perfect for staying oudoors. The only recommendation i have is to put some "grip tape" or non-slip bathtub stickers on the seat as my daughter tends to slip down inside the swing!

I thought for sure that a perpetually rolling ball with a fuzzy thing hanging off it would be a hit with my two "juvenile" cats ... about 5 months old. They are big time laser hunters...but got bored with the "automatic" lasers with slow and predictable patterns. This ball came with no instructions...but I figured out that the halves unscrew counter clockwise. Inside, you will see a battery holder that accepts 2 AA batteries. There are + and indicators for proper battery polarity. Something to watch out for ... normally, the big spring end of a battery holder accepts the minus end of a battery. Not so with this gadget. I had to put a small piece of aluminum foil on the top of ONE battery's positive end so that it would make good contact with this spring. There is a little red switch to turn the unit off and on ... but it is internal. So, if you want to turn the unit off, you have to unscrew it. The ball will roll around for over an hour on your kitchen floor and will do okay on not too plush rugs ... but it eventually gets hung up on something... not a big deal...just kick it a bit. The ball is large enough not to go under the couch.

My two juvenile female sisters were curious about the randomly moving ball for around 30 minutes and gradually started ignoring it. Too bad. Overall, I seem to have had more fun ANTICIPATING the fun THEY were going to have with it. Hey, give it a try with your kittens ... perhaps my juveniles just thought that chasing the ball was for little kids.

One Step Ahead / Dress up Doll, Boy

This is a great doll for little boys. The clothes are brighly colored and it is educational, so it doesn't look "girly." Our son is 2-1/2 and has nicknamed the doll "Ernie." He loves to zip/unzip the coat and to put the hood up/down. He isn't able to do the fastening of the pockets or shoes (it's harder to do when you aren't the one wearing the items!), but he likes to try to get Ernie dressed. (The coat, shorts, shoes, and watch come off. The doll is also wearing non-removeable socks and under clothes.) The ball cap is attached by a thread that could probably be clipped, but I'm not sure the hat would stay on. We left it alone so it wouldn't get lost. Overall, a very cute doll, nice product, and I'm happy with it.

I bought this my my 4 year old, who was having difficulty with zippers and buttons. He liked the boy doll and began to check it out. It has a lot of nice snaps, velcro, zips, ties and such. The ONLY complaint I have is that the button hole is a bit tight. For a little one just trying to learn, it is discouraging when they can't manipulate the button through the tight hole, it could be a bit looser. But after zipping and buttoning for a few days, he was more confident a attempting these tasks on his own. He now buttons his PJ's on his own, although zippers on his coat are a bit tricky still, but he's trying at least.

This little guy is super cool and incredibly interactive. Busy fingers will love the oversized velcro, zipper, and buttons. We bought this toy as entertainment for a long road trip, and he's been worth it so far. Great quality, ships in a plastic bag that can double as a carrying case. Our son is 2.5 and he likes this guy. He's soft and squishy enough to sleep with, too. Great purchase!

Fisher-Price Little People Animal Sounds Farm

Fisher Price has two farms represented here. The first has a DVD, (pic # 4) made in 2006 and contains lead in the facial paint, and does not have the 'touch and feel' feature. Now, (see pic 5 from left) the 2008 model, no lead supposedly, and has soft fur glued on the animals. Amazon sends the one from 2006 which had lead in the paint and your child will most likely put the toy in his or her mouth. Beware as neither Fisher Price or Amazon were willing to remedy the sale of this product when notified.

We bought this version with the touch & feel fur, we have not had the problems that other people mention. Maybe because I gave this to our daughter when she turned 2, so she doesn't put the animals in her mouth. She LOVES feeling the fur, she makes the horse's mane tickle her nose! She got so much for her birthday, and this is her favorite toy by far. She probably plays with this 90 minutes a day total. She even wants the farmer & pig to go in her crib during her nap. First thing in the morning when she wakes up she says "play farm!" I find it very durable and have not had any problems with this toy that other people mention. This is the best toy purchase I have made for her in all of her 2 years. I'm going to buy more Little People stuff for her in the future.

I was so excited to receive the new version (touch & feel farm) for my son's 1st birthday. We actually bought the older version, but took it back when we found out (a week later) that there was a newer version available. It was a huge disappointment. My son removes the silo faster than I can connect it back on. The animals have "fur," which I thought was a really great idea until my son started biting the hair off of the sheep. The rooster slides across the front of the barn to send the other animals down the slide, and is not removable. By opening three different barn doors you can hear a "moo", "oink", or "neigh" and place those animals inside the barn. There is a location for the sheep, and in order to hear the "baa," you push on its hay inside the stall. The only pro I can come up with is that the barn is much lighter in weight than the original. I am sorry I did not keep the original because now I cannot find it anywhere.

I purchased this for my daughter to keep her entertained when I was on bed rest. It worked like a charm. The animals are still her favorite toy to take along when we go anywhere. I think the touch and feel animals make it even better. I've read other reviews about how the fur makes them hard to clean but I don't agree. Even after repeated washing the fur is still in great shape. I think that the touch and feel animals make this toy even more fun because they provide nice tactile stimulation. I would definately recommend this toy. It was a real life saver for me.

I received this as a gift and am very disappointed. My sister has the older version (not touch and feel) and her kids love it. We played with this about 2 times and then the cow's hair started to come out in little tufts in my son's mouth. It's not enough to choke on, but is still very disturbing. I called F.P. and they were helpful but I have to agree with the other reviewer who said the touch and feel animals are terrible..they are! He makes a face every time he puts one of the animals in his mouth. So out of a whole farm set we can play with two pieces: the farmer and the pig because they are the only ones with no hair.

We got this for my sons 1st birthday and he immediately loved it and now he's 15 months and it's still one of his favorite toys. We're a bilingual (english/spanish) family so it's perfect in that aspect. The songs are a little annoying for adults but great for a child. My daughter got this doll for her 2nd birthday. She is turning 3 in a few weeks and still plays with her everyday. She is a great sized doll for a toddler and very durable. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case as Corolle no longer makes the dolls in France, but in various countries in Asia and Europe. The one we ordered was made in China. The doll was cute as pictured and my daughter loves an older mini-Corolle that was passed down to her. This one is going back to Amazon though and I will continue to search for a doll that is not made in China.

The on/off switch was in the on position & the batteries were already dead, and you can't change them out. The reason I'm still giving 3 stars is that it is still a very cute rattle & she enjoys playing with it anyways. I'm just dissapointed that it doesn't make the "magical sounds". Okay the title is a bit of a joke. Our daughter loves this thing, she couldn't really start using it herself until about six months old. She waves it around, hits it on things, sucks on the rattle part. But this thing has a mind of it's own! I don't know if the batteries are dying or what but I'll be on the other side of the room changing the baby and suddenly we hear it go off! Talk about creepy! Other than that and the fact once it dies that's it (You can't change batteries in Bright Starts items) it's great!

First, I want to say that I bought this toy at TJ Maxx HomeGoods for $3.99, not here on Amazon, but I did want to review the item for future buyers. My 4-month-old daughter is only slightly interested in this toy. I picked it up while walking around TJ Maxx since I forgot her diaper bag in the car, and let her play with it while I was browsing the clothes aisle. It may be because she's still young and not that into toys yet, but she just wrapped her hand around it and stared at it for a while. I would shake it for her so it made the cute "tweet" sound and she would look at it confused, but other than that she didn't seem interested in it. After she eventually put her mouth on it, I decided to buy it for her anyway. When we got home she didn't want to release it. She had a death grip on it for a while, but I think she just wanted to gnaw on it. My husband would shake it for her and once again she would give it the "WTF" face. I'm thinking once she is able to really learn the cause-and-effect aspect of it then she may play with it more.

Babe Ease My Traveling ABC's with Book

This could be a great toy fr your newborn or infants less than a year. I have a 20 months old toddler and thought this would be a good idea so she can start learning the alphabet. Guess what? The letters have these funny faces on them and you cannot even tell which letter is which. This makes it very confusing for a toddler to learn the Alphabet. The books is ok and it is hard book so a kid cannot destroy it so easily. The straps that the letters bring to attach to the stroller, carseat, etc is made of velcro so it is easy for a baby to remove it from where ever it is attached. I think this product is a waste of money and overpriced. There are many other educational toys that are better than this.

I got these from a deal site, and so only paid half-price. Otherwise, I would be even more annoyed.

Many of the letters only vaguely resemble letters, and my not-quite two year old finds this very confusing/irritating. Q and D are particular offenders. When I tell him it's a "D", he confidently tells me "no".

They are sort of interesting, texturally, so that's a plus, I guess. The velcro loops are fun to rip off, so I suppose that's another mark in its favor from my son's perspective. Of course, this makes them basically worthless in the "attach it to a stroller" category. The bag they come in for storage is also worthless the zipper busted after only two uses. Eventually, the kid only used them to create a thin layer of abandoned toys velcroed to the rug, and the stupid things got packed away for good.

Edushape Bongos Musical Toy

I will stress this from the beginning if you pay more than $5 for these, you've paid too much. $5 might even be too much. Absolutely terribly quality, cheap, crummy bongos.

I bought these for my son's birthday in September it wasn't until I actually "opened" the gift at his birthday party that I realized that I had spent money on something akin to what was sitting in our recylcing bin.

I don't know what sticks are being talked about, my order didn't come with any. Another review said these were made from cardboard about as thin as a cereal box that's about right if not a little generous. The construction is lousy, and easily pulled apart. See those little white supports in the picture? Those pull right out. How safe.

True, if you beat it with something harder than your hand you get a better sound, but again, like another review said, it's comparable to a wooden spoon on tupperware. You can get much better toy bongos/drums for this price. Do NOT buy this.

1. These are made of cardboard about the thickness of a cereal box and do not appear very durable.

2. They do not sound like drums. They dont sound like much at all and are less entertaining than tupperware and a wooden spoon.

3. There are no drumsticks in my package but I didn't expect any as they are bongos. You can get somewhat of a drum sound using something harder than your hand. I might make some mini sticks and see if my son likes these any better.

4. The box states 3 and over and the item description states 1 and older.

All in all I think these were a waste of money and would send them back but dont want to waste the gas. They were already shipped all the way from Israel. Surely we can make as bad a product here at home.

I recommend buying something else or have fun making your own as they would be at least as good.

I was shocked to find that the body of the drums are made of cardboard that is formed into a circle and loosely secured with tabs that fit into slots. My nearly two-year-old was able to tear them and pull the cardboard out of the tabs within minutes of opening them. I was very disappointed in the quality of this product. I should have gotten the wooden ones, which were about the same price.

First off, I purched this for my ONE year old daughters birthday. The recommended age is 12 months so i thought it would be GREAT for her. The drumsticks are far to small and skinny for a child of this age, they are a chocking hazzard. The first thing she did was stick them in her mouth and gag...she is teething as are most children at this age, they all put things in there mouths, why they made them so skinny is beyond me. 2nd, it does not sound like anything much less a drum unless you have it on the side, and it does not sit flat so you have to hold it for the child so they can bang on it, if you sit on one of the ends like shown in the photo, your lucky to get a dull thud...my daughter played with this for a bout 30 sec when she got it 3 weeks ago and has not touched it sense...she loves all her music toys but this was a FLOP!

Rolling Sorter

Wonderworld is on my list of approved toy-makers due to my rather strict toxicity guidelines. I've purchased a few of their toys and have been generally happy with the quality. This one, however, doesn't make the cut. The concept is great -a roller and shape sorter in one. Other brands offer this kind of toy, too, but most are made of plastic and frankly, the manufacturers don't have the best track record of toxicity. When I saw that Wonderworld offered this toy, it was fast-tracked for purchase. Sadly, I was very disappointed when the toy arrived. First, I noticed that over half of the shapes in the set had chipped paint, even though they were wrapped separately in paper. That may have been a shipping or packaging problem. However, I was also disappointed with the construction of the sorter. The bars were relatively flimsy, and the bar that "opens" (the one with a red ball attached) doesn't have a proper clasping mechanism to keep it in place. I ended up buying a similar sorter from Hape without the rolling function.

This is a cute rattle/teether that the baby loves...it catches the baby's attention because it's very colorful. It's made well and pretty durable. One of the baby's favorites!
