Haba Flower Fairy Dangling figure

Haba Flower Fairy Dangling figureWe have been using this toy for about 3 weeks, and out 6 1/2 month old absolutely loved it. Then, yesterday, one of the 'balls' came off and got lodged in her throat. Thankfully my husband was right there and was able to get it out by hitting on her back...but if he had left the room for a minute it could have been disastrous. We have checked that they were secure every time we handed her the toy, so it was not already loose. It really is a shame. I expected Haba toys to be better made-

My baby is teething and we have offered her a variety of biting rings and toys. None of them appeal to her as much as this one. She chews on the ring and the balls all the time. I am paranoid about one of the balls coming loose, but I check them each time and thye seem really sturdy on there. Plus its a german product, wood, natural.

I got this from a friend as a gift and my baby loves this toy! We don't leave the house without it. She loves to shake it and chew on it and stretch it. She especially loves to chew on the the cloth "flower petal" like part on the head. The cloth part can stretch if you really tug at it but in the two months my baby has gummed and pulled on it daily it hasn't come off once.

I really like the look/materials and construction of this toy. But was shocked to see the actual size. My daughter never really took to it. When she does play with it, the balls go right in her mouth so it does require a certain amount of supervision but they seem very secure. It's a really nice toy, I'm just disappointed in the lack of play it has received.

My friend just had a new baby, a girl, so her 3 year old daughter became a "BIG" sister. I am hoping this will help her with the transition of attention, though her mom has more than enough love for both of them. The bear is soft as can be, the letters on the shirt are large and well sewn and readable. She is a good size for a three year old to carry and can't harm the baby if she comes in contact with it!

LeapFrog Baby Little Leaps: Leap Ahead

LeapFrog Baby Little Leaps: Leap AheadThere are 1 or 2 seconds of delay after a kid hit the button, and the kids will not wait for that time. Without immediate response from the screen, the kids will not know what causes the action in the screen. Good idea but not a good product

Okay, I'm not one to write reviews normally, but I had to for this one. Either my daughter is a genius, or this "game" is LAME. Although she is 2 1/2 and has known her alphabet since she was 2, and has been able to count to 10 even before that, I thought maybe this would be fun for her to try. First of all, two of the "games" aren't games at all the shapes one is just a video of a bird drawing 4 shapes, and then it's over. No interaction at all. The animal one is just lessons on different animals, and the joystick controls which animals you view, but it's not a game either. The alphabet game only teaches a few letters, and that's it. You would think it would teach all 26, but no. The "feeding the pig" game counts to 10, but doesn't do much. And the whole DVD intermittently uses the same puppets that were in the infant games. My daughter likes to play this thing, but gets bored quickly. I'll save it for my next child, and introduce it to him much earlier.

Fisher-Price Miracles and Milestones - Musical Panda

Fisher-Price Miracles and Milestones - Musical PandaMy 5mo old son loves this toy. The flashing light on the ladybug can really keep him entranced. The music is nice and it alternates between a giggle and then one of 3 songs (Bear Went over the Mountain, Teddy Bear Picnic, and one other). My only complaints are the fact that they have to pull the green toy, which is harder to grip than the spinning ball, and that it is kind of long, so it's hard to hang on the crib, and still be able to pull the toys.

It's a great toy, with just a few flaws, but easily one of my son's favorites:)

We had this toy since my daughter was 2-3 months old. First we suspended it from the center of her play gym no other toy was as interesting. The giggles and short tunes that emanate from the toy are uplifting to baby and parents alike. Once my daughter started crawling and ignored the play gym we transfered the toy to her crib. To this day, at 13 months she still tugs on it. The only downsides are that the toy is a little heavy, the ties are short, and the tunes run for just a few seconds. Other than that the toy is very nice.

Happy Nappers Dragon

Happy Nappers DragonI recently bought one of these for my youngest nephew's 3rd birthday (not off of Amazon, but a review here might save some people the headache of buying one themselves).

Here's the long and short of it. The quality is just plain terrible. The stitching came apart in 3 spots within the first day he was playing with it (luckily, I'm skilled with a needle and thread). The doorbell sound it makes is... quite frankly? Loud and incredibly stupid. The sound box also makes an uncomfortable spot in the overall pillow design. The zipper tends to catch his hair as well.

Needless to say, he only uses it as a stuffed dragon toy now, but for the price, there are much better quality toys than this failure of manufacturing.

The dragon is so cute and my son was excited to get it, but the quality is terrible. There are places where the material was never sewn together, and the stitches where it was sewn are often very far apart so the stuffing is peeking out. I had ordered ours directly from Happy Nappers, so I contacted them FOUR TIMES with no response before finally spending an hour sewing the dragon in four different places. What a total waste of money.

Buy Happy Nappers Dragon Now

My son wanted this so bad. He was so excited to get it. The toy looks great. It is not high quality though. It has a small hole under its tail and is missing decorative stitched across its belly. The construction is poor quality. Another complaint is that it is a little difficult for my almost 5 year old son to convert it back and forth from a dragon to a castle. He still loves this toy, but if you plan on buying it, keep in mind that it isn't well made and can be a little difficult for some to switch it back and forth.

It is a great idea but the product is poorly made. I have bought Pillow pets for my grand kids and they are extremely happy with their pillow pets and this year i bought them a happy napper and they were happy at first but the three i bought all started falling apart quickly i contacted the company and was belittled and basically blamed for their poor product. I will never buy a happy napper again they should be call nightmare nappers. I will not be a stupid person again and buy a happy napper. Trust me happy nappers are for stupid people i learned it the hard way.

My daughter received this directly from the Happy Napper site for her 5th birthday. She had been asking for it for months. She was sooo excited to get it! Within the first week though, the stitching in one arm came completely out. I sent numerous emails directly through the Happy Napper site-and never got a single response. Obviosly they aren't too concerned with shoddy stitching, or with disappointing a five year old girl. My son wants one-but there is no way I'll bother spending $20+ on something I'll have to fix myself. I'll stick with the pillow pets-they're cuter anyways.

One Dozen (12) Rubber Duck Ducky Duckie Baby Shower Birthday Party Favors

One Dozen Rubber Duck Ducky Duckie Baby Shower Birthday Party FavorsCute ducks for playing in the tub or decorating withsome of the best looking/cutest ones I've seen, but they don't stay upright if you are using them to float for a pick-a-duck game. We found one's that stay upright for our party on centurynovelty.com. They were more expensive, but stayed upright when the kids were picking them and throwing them back in the water.

My four year old asked for "lots of rubber ducks" for Christmas last year. I got him these. He has been very proud of them and enjoys playing with them. It's not extremely difficult to squeeze water out of them after a bath. They have a nice squeak about them.

These are fairly little (not tiny, but little), so make sure you read the specs. They float really well and the finish looks good and doesn't have an eye where the ear should be or anything else that makes it look cheap.

These rubber duckies are cute, but I'd only buy them if you need at most 6 floating, cute, non-headless rubber ducks. Of the ones I got, only a few float upright and aren't permanently squished in the sort of position that makes you think they commuted here via NYC subway during rush hour. Most have extremely thin plastic attaching the back of the neck to the body, and several are on their way to true decapitation. That being said, squished doesn't matter much for a 2-year-old's bath time, and I only wanted about 3 floating ones for a baby shower punch bowl. So despite the abundant presence of zombie ducks in my house, I'm happy.

Forum Novelties 60183 Plastic Judge's Gavel - Mftr change (see desc)

Forum Novelties 60183 Plastic Judge's GavelBanging the gavel during your mandatory hearing for sentencing the case where you allegedly assaulted a costumed fast food clown, who later required stitches and surgical removal of a seltzer bottle from an undisclosed bodily orifice, is not a good idea. The judge said something about me "mocking" her or something like that. I don't know, I couldn't hear her over the loud and amusing noise that the gavel made when I banged it on the defendant's table. I think I got something like thirty days in contempt. I tried to explain that I just like percussive novelty items, that I wasn't trying to be contemptuous, as they alleged. Until it was forcefully pried from my hand by that bailiff, I really enjoyed this novelty gavel quite a bit. Although it was confiscated from my person at the time of my incarceration, the intake officers informed me that I will be able to have it back upon my release.

I purchased this for my classroom. I teach social studies and we reenacted a trial that I needed a gavel for. It's certainly not loud since it's made of plastic, but it looks great. If you need something that is loud I suggest you look for something else, but if you need it just for looks and for playing this is a great option.

The product arrive nice and fast, and it's plastic. However, it's not thick plastic, it's pretty thin, and I can push in on it with my finger. It was cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for. I think this can be used as a good hand prop, but not functional.

The picture of this product looks like a real gavel, in reality it is a very cheaply made and fake looking item. It worked fine for my purposes, but if you want something that looks real, this is not it.

Haba Bouncy Beetle Dangling figure

Haba Bouncy Beetle Dangling figureThis is another quality HABA toy, but I need to mention that it didn't arrive exactly as it was described. The string is not elastic, so this beetle does not really "bounce". If you are familiar with Haba's "Max" and their pacifier chains, the string used in those products is the same in this item.

While the toy is very high quality and made of completely smooth wood, the 'wings' are made of a soft plastic and only one of our wings moves and twists like the description. I also think it would be more interesting if all the parts were moveable like their other elastic-bound products. The hat, head, and body are all one glued piece.

Overall, a nice product...just being descriptive

Nat and Jules Blanket

Nat and Jules Blanket, ElephantI bought this item originally at a local toy store and had set it aside and nearly forgotten about it. Then, last week we started to prepare my 4 month old for daycare by teaching her to fall asleep on her own. I wanted her to have something to hug and cuddle, maybe even something I could sleep with so that when she's at daycare she can smell me. Then I remembered I had this and gave it to her. It was love at first cuddle. I am watching her now on the video monitor, snuggling away while she drifts off to dreamland and contemplating buying two more at the much more reasonable Amazon prices (one for home, one for daycare, one for emergencies).

Boikido Wooden Musical Blocks 12 Pc Set

Boikido Wooden Musical Blocks 12 Pc SetAlthough the Boikido musical blocks are well-made and colorful, I was disappointed that they were not more musical. We have plastic building blocks with pellets in them and our 9-month-old granddaughter loves to shake them and make noise, so I thought musical blocks would be perfect for her. However, not only are the Boikido blocks not particularly musical, they don't even make very interesting sounds. Had I known that in advance, I wouldn't have purchased them.

Like the big set this has fun whimsical pieces that are a great size for toddler and preschooler play.

I wouldn't really call it a musical set, a better description would be noise makers and it is really only like 4 or five pieces that make noise.

I would imagine that if you bought this as a stand alone expecting musical interaction you may be disappoined.

I am rating mine as an add on to the bigger set whith no big expectations on the "musical" factor.

I like how the blocks are wooden, but painted with pretty a various colors. I love how each block has a sound or something interesting inside it. I like that there are different shapes (circular, half circle) I'm sure they will be even more fun as my LO grows and can learn to stack them by herself instead of just knocking over my towers. =) But, she likes to hold them and shake them. Bunnies by the Bay Silly Buddy, Styles May Vary

Bunnies by the Bay Silly Buddy, BlueI purchased this for my 6 week old son. He uses the gumdrop pacifiers and I was having a little difficulty finding something similar to a Wubbanub that would fit his gumdrops. This bear is just right! When you first take it out of the package, it will seem that the velcro won't fit, but a little wiggling and it's perfect. I put it through the washer and dryer before using it, and it came out even softer than before. I love it and am considering purchasing another one, but probably a different animal.

We have the pink bunny an my 9 month old loves it. We are super pickey about our pacifiers. We use only http://www.amazon.com/Natursutten-BPA-Free-Natural-Pacifier-Orthodontic/dp/B004YUDA8Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1339620189&sr=8-2

These attach to the bunny well. My daugher loves the bunney ears and rubs them to get herself to sleep or for comfort. Very please with this product. Keeps the pacifier from getting lost without making me nervous the way a pacifier clip with string would. Wish we would have had this for our son.

The blue bunny has been my son's best sleep aid since he was about six months old. (I wish we'd thought to introduce Bunny sooner!) My son is now almost two, and Bunny is an essential part of sleeping -my son always falls asleep holding him, and he's always overjoyed to see Bunny again when he wakes up. These guys are the ideal size for this, and they wash well! My son's bunny has been washed many, many times in a regular load of laundry -we air-dry, which takes practically no time, since Bunny is so thin. (Bunny has actually gone straight from washer to crib a couple of times, and it's not a big deal.) We've learned the hard way that washability is an essential feature for all these sleep aids. No matter how luxe it is, it must be washed -and not everything stays soft after washing. These bunnies go the distance.

Note that the bunnies currently being sold are a little different from the old version. The first bunny my son received had no rattle in the head and no pacifier holder. I bought one of these new ones to have on hand as a spare and easily removed the rattle from the head so they would be more similar. To my son, they are apparently indistinguishable. The new one seems a little softer to me, but maybe that's just because it's seen a little less action so far. :o)

I highly recommend these.

Smarty Kids: 'W' Is For Whale Mama-Baby Action Musical by Kids PreferredSuch a cute toy. I was worried it wouldn't be very interesting for my son as he isn't in to stuffed animals very much. But he LOVES it. He loves the music it plays.

Vulli Sophie Giraffe Vanilla Teether, Colors May Vary

Vulli Sophie Giraffe Vanilla Teether, Colors May VaryI bought tons of different teethers for my baby, determined to give her something that would provide her some relief and that she would enjoy chewing on. Out of every one (we have some that are wooden, hard plastic, silicone, gel freezer ones, pacifier-shaped ones, teething necklaces, other natural rubber ones, etc.), this is her absolute favorite. She chews on it all the time. I love the scent of the vanilla as well. It reminds me EXACTLY of the smell of my Cupcake Dolls (for all you fellow 80's kids lol). I am definitely buying her another one so we can take one on the go and not have to worry about losing our only one!

Very cute, smells great and keeps vanilla scent after washing many times. Would give it 5 stars but due to it's size and shape, my son is able to get it into his mouth in awkward positions that could potentially gag him, so I can't leave him alone with it at all. However, in my presence, my son loves chewing on it. Material is better than other teethers. Also, it's quite a bit larger than the elephant/poodle teether set made by Vulli.

Bright Starts Pretty in Pink Put and Take Purse

Bright Starts Pretty in Pink Put and Take PurseMy daughter likes to tote things around and put her toys in boxes, bags, etc. I decided that she should have a purse since this could combine her two favorite interests. While it is not her favorite toy, she does play with it quite often and I think it has some staying power. I very much appreciate the fact that the opening is easy for little hands to reach inside; some of the purses out there create a lot of frustration for small kids because putting their hands in to take something out can be a challenge. This is designed so that it is easy to see what is inside the purse and easy to take things out/put things in. The items that come with the purse are adorable crinkle play money, a mirror, a phone and a key. The little chime on the bow is an added bonus. If you are looking for a toy purse for a toddler, I think this is a great product.

We bought this for our daughter when we was about 6 months old. She loved to take things out of it and hear the noise the bow on the purse made. She liked the items in the purse as well particularly the crinkle money. I would have thought the buttons on the phone would have pushed and made a noise, but they don't. We would certainly buy this product again or for a gift for a 6-12 month old.

My 11 month old just loves this purse. She plays with this constantly taking out the items and putting them back in. It is also a plus that she can chew on them while taking them in and out. Love that this purse is opened at the top as she loves to put other small toys in there as well as there is plenty of room.

This is a great design compared to an older one we had for our other daughter who had such a hard time opening the purse and getting her fingers stuck, believe that was a sesame street purse not by Bright Start.

Wonderworld Rolling Raindrop Wooden Rolling Cylinder

Wonderworld Rolling Raindrop Wooden Rolling CylinderThe product info says this item is 12x5x6...WRONG!!! It's only 5 inchs long and about 2 1/4 wide. What a rip off...I may have only paid $10, but it definetly wasn't worth that much. Maybe it would be worth it if the dimensions were correct and priced accordinly ($6-$8)

This is an attractive little toy, but my son didn't have any interest in it. The bars on the sides are close together, making it difficult to see what's going on inside, and the balls don't move around that easily. I wouldn't buy it again.

This rolling toy is a good quality choice. My son likes the design on the side. What I don't like about this toy is that little fingers that don't have good coordination can get pinched or stuck momentarily. Also, the balls get stuck in one compartment and need an adult to shake them loose.

Happy Dump Truck

Happy Dump TruckI purchased this Happy Dump Truck for my 3 month old grandson! Yes, 3 month old. He loves it! The bright colors caught his eyes right away and as you move it from one side of him to the other he turns his head to follow it. Since it is small (removed the red ball in the dump bed) in size, apprx. 4"x6") he actually can grab hold of it and pull it up his chest. I can place it beside him when he is laying in his crib and he almost can flip over to grab it. I also purchased the front end loader and the cement truck and he loves them just as much. Well worth the money because he is having fun with it at 3 months and I am positive he will enjoy it more at 3 years old when he can wheel it around on the floor.

This is a great little dump truck for small hands! It's well made and easy to rinse off after a trip to the sandbox. The "boulder" I could take or leave. Half the toys we own came with balls about this size so it's lost among a hundred other brightly colored plastic spheres.

Kido Go Car

Kid O Go Car RedI was so happy to finally come upon this Kido Car toy after searching in stores and on the web for the best first car for my grandson as a Christmas present. I didn't want one that sings or talks or lights up, just a good quality working vehicle for him to learn how to push and to play with using his own imagination. The Kido car has a simple, elegant design--rather Euro looking (the corresponding truck, even more so), and, IMO, artful. Nice to have a plaything be a thing of beauty. The headlights are really shiny and cool, but other than that, there are no adornments on the car. It has a pleasing round shape--nothing sharp--with an oval hole where the car interior would be, forming a natural handle that will fit childor grown-up sized hands. The white wheels have gray rubberized tires, and they spin like crazy! The toy is sturdy and shiny--a hard type of plastic that has no PVC, BPA or Phthalates. Like so many things, it is made in China, but at least this time they got the quality control right. The packaging is also just right. It comes in a box just exactly the size of the car, no extra doodads. That makes it easy to wrap, too. The cardboard is made of 100% recycled material.

The end of the box states "1+", and really it would be ideal for any toddler or preschooler, but if you have a crawler who is beginning to manipulate things well with his hands, I think this car will be a good one to grow into. My grandson will be seven months at Christmas, and he is really getting around. The car may be a bit big for his little hands, but it isn't too heavy, and it rolls so well, that I am sure he will be able to get the thing going. I am looking forward to seeing his face when he realizes what a thing with wheels can do!

As far as other suggestions--I also bought the truck by the same company, and have written a review. Others I am considering are Sassy Pop and Push Car, and the Green Toys vehicles made in the USA from recycled milk cartons. I hope this helps.

I don't like toys that beep, sign, yell, talk, make noise in general. I also don't like cars/trucks/vehicles with faces. Call me old fashioned but I wanted a durable, basic car for my son that was not sponsored by an animation company or that yelled obnoxious comments. Both my son and I love this toy. It is simple. I love the color. He loves the handle. Works well on carpet as well as linoleum. I will be giving this as a gift!

Buy Kido Go Car Now

I don't know if I got a lemon, but the wheels were so stiff that the toy doesn't really roll (even with some serious pushing) so it just doesn't work as a car. Paper weight, maybe. But, since I live indoors and don't have a problem with wind blowing papers around, I returned it.

(It's so cute, though, I might try ordering it again in the hopes that the next one will actually work as a car.)

I bought this as a gift for another little boy since my son has had one for a year now and he seems to like it. My son is a little over the age of one. There's nothing special about it exactly. It's a car. It has a handle. It does seem to be made well and it has put up with some abuse. I am not sure it's worth the money since it's so simple, but I guess the cost is related to the quality. I like it since it's simple enough that it doesn't require adult assistance, and yet engaging enough that a child will continue to play with it.

A lot of toy cars are for kids over 3 so this is a great option for younger toddlers. It is very cute, the colors are very bright, and the car rolls very well on carpet and hardwood floors. My son seems to like it and I like that it is not flashy and does not have unnecessary cartoon characters drawn on it.

PARENTS OF YOUNG TODDLERS WITH TEETH --BEWARE OF THIS TOY!!

Edushape Ltd's Chubby EduBlocks are extremely unsafe for the young age group they are marketed toward, and I feel their current availability to children as young as 6 months needs to be swiftly addressed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) before any children become ill or die after choking on or swallowing the foam that the blocks are made from. This is a seriously dangerous toy when used by the age group it is designed for!

The Edushape Ltd's Chubby EduBlocks are multi-color, larger-size, stacking foam blocks made in China that the manufacturer recommends as a safe toy for children 6 months and up. We received the Chubby EduBlocks as a Christmas gift for my 17 month old daughter and we had this toy in our home for a little over a week and a half before she chewed off the tip of a block and ingested an undetermined amount of the smelly colored foam yesterday. This incident happened in less than 5 minutes, and occurred while I was in the room with her.

She was sitting on the couch, playing with one red Chubby EduBlock, and I turned my back on her briefly to put a DVD on the TV for her. While I put the movie on, she proceeded to chew off several pieces of varying sizes of the foam block tip before I understood what was occurring. I have documented in a separate photograph the size of some of the red foam pieces I removed from her mouth and found scattered in her lap, but several of the chewed-off foam pieces were about half of an inch in length, certainly large enough for a younger child to choke on. My daughter thankfully did not choke on the foam, but I believe she ingested one or several of the small foam pieces before I identified their source and was able to clear her mouth of foam and take the toy away from her.

Generally speaking, we exercise much caution before introducing a new toy to our beloved baby, and this toy seemed to be safe enough at first glance since the blocks are soft and are marketed as both educational and non-toxic. I trusted that ASTM safety standards had been considered and I also assumed that the foam had been tested during manufacturing and was strong enough not to crumble or break into bits in a child's hand or mouth. In retrospect, I see I should have done more research before trusting my daughter with an Edushape toy, since many may recognize the Edushape Ltd. name as the same one that also distributed the 18,000 units of "Mini Stars Building Sets" that had to be recalled in July of 2011 because of similar choking hazards. I additionally have read that 40 units of Snap Beads distributed by Edushape in 2009 were also recalled by the Chinese manufacturer, Xiamen Xinlu Machinery Co., Ltd.

I see now that ANY young child with teeth can easily chew off and either choke on or ingest the foam tip from an Edushape Chubby EduBlock, and I am astounded that this product was ever considered "safe" by anyone in the industry in the first place! ...Especially given this company's poor track record with recalled toys! On top of the severe choking and ingestion hazard the foam poses, the blocks also have a distinctly chemical smell. Exactly what chemicals are in this foam product now that my 25lb daughter is at work digesting them? I recommend the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) investigate with serious scrutiny any and all materials data Edushape Ltd and their Chinese manufacturer can provide, because these blocks stink badly of chemicals, and they were ingested very quickly by my daughter.

I am currently in dialogue with Jeff Malmud, Edushape Ltd. USA's National Sales Manager to resolve our issue with the return of this defective or thoughtlessly designed toy. He has been very gracious with the return of this item which was originally purchased through amazon.com as a gift.
