Rainbow Stacker and Shape Sorter

This toy is only about 4 inches tall total, and the stacking pieces do not stay together if you even blow on them! The top red piece is only about 1 inch in diameter with makes it a choking hazard for small children. I fail to see how this can pass safety checks in the USA.

My 1 year old daughter received the Haba Rainbow Tower as a gift for her 1st birthday. We have many Haba toys and they are made to the highest quality. We have never had any problems with any of them. However, my daughter nearly choked to death today on the top red piece on the Rainbow Tower. She managed to get the entire piece in her mouth and couldn't get it out. It was wedged in her mouth so tight that I couldn't get my fingers around it to pull it out. Thankfully I got it out in time. I would not recommend this toy for children under the age of 3. We were very lucky today!

UPDATE: While it has been several years, since I posted my initial review of this product there are still a few things I would like to note. A few weeks after I posted my review I was contacted by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. To my surprise an inspector came to my home to investigate my claim and to see the product. The inspector spent about 30 minutes asking me questions, measuring the product and taking photos. In the end my claim was dismissed, because the piece in question did not fit through the Small Objects Choke Tester that the CPSC uses to determine if a product is a choking hazard. However, make no mistake this product easily fits through a toilet paper roll holder, which is what most healthcare professionals tell you to us.

While my claim was disregarded it does look like the CPSC made HABA clarify the age recommendations for this product. Back in 2009, the recommended age for the HABA Rainbow Tower was 6 months and up. That recommendation was posted on both the HABA web site and also on Amazon.com. However, the box that the product came in had the recommended age at 1 ½ 3 years. I can see now that the recommended age online is now 1 ½ years, so I'm happy to see that has been clarified.

I still consider myself very fortunate for getting that piece dislodged from my daughter's mouth. And to this day, I will not let me children play with the top red piece of the Rainbow Tower.

As for the quality of the product and how it's held up over the years ... It's HABA and they do make the best wood toys on the market.

I like the fact that this is a very natural toy. My 8 month old daughter has been strongly drawn to it for the last 2 months despite many other toys being available. We soon lost the top red block but it is still very usable. The 2 things I'd say is that I thought it was going to be bigger and I thought that it was going to be the kind of toy where they are rings that slip on to a center pole. But it's actually kind of small (but not choke able) and they are full blocks with circular groves that fit in to each other. I also like the fact that you can rearrange the order and it still fits.

I bought this for my son when he was 9 months. We took away the smallest piece until he was 15 months. At 17 months, it is still one of his favorite toys and it has held up great. The toy is made from smooth, solid hardwood with a water base paint. This means it is totally non-toxic in every way. When he was 9 months, he quickly learned how to stack them according to size and no we discuss the colors as he plays around with all the variations to build. He even has his toy Telly build the tower. I can't say enough about the quality and educational qualities that HABA toys have.

I wanted to replace my daughter's Ikea ring stacking toy, which consists of seven rings that you can fit on a red pole.

I didn't read the description carefully enough, I guess, because this is not the same kind of toy. It is much smaller than most stacking towers, first of all (look closely at the size).

In addition, the tower does not consist of doughnut-like rings that can be placed on a pole. Instead, it consists of discs, each of which has a little divot on one side, and a bump on the other, so they fit into one another like that. So, if you are looking for one of those, do not buy this toy!

Finally, my own did not come complete (it was missing a piece) from Moolka for some reason, and I am still trying to obtain my return postage so that I can send it back and get my refund. This is more pertinent to the review of the seller but I think it is worth mentioning here as you don't have a choice of sellers.

That said, I agree with the other reviewer that the quality of the toy is very good, and if you are looking for a small rainbow stacking toy, you will probably like this one.

Russ Berrie Yomiko Pug 12"

I have a stuffed pug that my husband got me the Christmas after we got our pug puppy. The stuffed one looks a lot like our real dog and I loved it. When my daughter was born I wanted to get her her own stuffed pug. I looked all over for one similar to mine. I found this one and ordered it, in part because of the price but also because the "beads" inside are contained in an inner bag so their is much less of a risk of her getting injured by eating the contents if the animal were to get ripped open. My daughter loved my stuffed pug and when her's arrived in the mail I was excited to find that this one was identical to mine, but just a bit smaller. As a 10 month old it is her favorite thing to snuggle (besides the actual dog). It's soft and floppy. Many of the stuffed pugs on the market are posed and not a great to snuggle.

I have a 2 year old Pug. My grand daughter who is 5 months is fascinated by my Pugs face. I ordered this stuffed Pug but was concerned that the price was so reasonable, but like the safety regulations that were enforced by the manufacturer.

Well the dog came by mail today. OMG it looks just like my PUG did when I brought her home for the first time. at eight weeks old!

The photo does not do this justice at all. In fact my pug Fooshe, follows me around the house staring at the stuffed pug as I carry it. That's how life like it looks and feels.

I can't wait to see what my little Miah thinks of her new puppy.

Skunk Infant / Toddler Costume

The costume arrived quickly and is of great quality. I was really impressed. Fits my daughter great.

This costume is so cute!! Every single person absolutely LOVED it! My only issue with it is that it's not a very warm costume, which I was hoping it'd be a little warmer, due to the fact that it's a full body costume and it's for a toddler. This was the cutest costume I ever seen. I purchased for my son that is 14 months. He had so many compliments nor did anyone else have one like it. The picture appears that it is fur but it is actually velvet. I didn't think I would like it while it was in the package but once I put it on him he was the cutest skunk ever. My daughter just turned 10-months and she's been climbing and standing up on me but there really wasn't a place that was suitable in our home. The couches are over tile and our baby's play area didn't have anything for her to practice standing or cruising. I read reviews for other toys and most were mixed "a door the trapped fingers", "tipped over", "slid on the floor", "not entertaining", etc. When this was released even without the reviews I bought it for my daughter and I was very surprised and happy over this purchase. It doesn't slide on the carpet or a thin rug. The feet that come with it are wide and provide traction, so it's never slid even when she leans with all her body weight on it. It's never tipped over. She's able to lean and pull on the toy with all her weight while standing and SITTING down. There are no parts that with trap or pinch her fingers. I would only change the color of the ball underneath, since it's clear it's not as noticable next to the yellow of the toy unless she's crawling up to it. I also wish there were noise makers on the top (currently they're on the side). Otherwise great toy if your child is standing-cruising-sitting down.

I just got this for my son and right out of the box the eyes were half rubbed off. I debated just returning it but decided that besides being a complete hassle, my 7 month old probably wouldn't care about that anyway. So I put it together which was fairly easy and then put it on the floor for my son to play with. He absolutely loves his Stride to Ride Lion which looks similar so I figured he would love this as well. Now, while he may like this toy "okay", I have to say that I do not think it is worth the price. The spinning ball on the top doesn't spin easily, the lights and sounds are nothing spectacular and I don't know why the green and red button-things on the top are there since they just go up and down. Overalll I think this toy is pretty boring and simple and feel that it is definately not going to be enough to keep my son's attention.

That is the reason behind buying this toy. Our baby is at the stage where she seeks to find something, anything to pull up with. The problem is that we have few things in the house for that and it all leads to landing on a concrete floor. This lion can sit on our cushioned rug area and does not slip.

I luv how there are many areas of interest to keep the little one busy when standing up gets tiring after a while. The ball hanging under the lion bridge is especially entertaining since it makes a noise when hit.

The eye of our lion was partially rubbed out (looks to be a common issue).. bad packaging if you ask me, but easily fixed with a permanent black marker.

All in all, good purchase and does what it says.

P.S. there is volume control on the toy.. awesome feature! The lion's laugh sounds too much like Barney but more annoying.

My son started pulling up on the furniture at 5 months. He isn't ready to walk yet but needed something other than the TV stand for support. This is awesome! It is not mobile so you don't have to worry about it moving. Now at 6 months it supports his 18 pound frame. It is entertaining to him. Teaches cause and effect. He loves it, I love it. A reviewer said it was too short. My son is 26 3/4 inches and it is the perfect height. I would suggest for a kid that is mobile but not ready to walk.

When I bought this toy, my baby was would sit and play. Now she can hold on to the toy, standup by herslef and play. she loves playing with this toy. she is able to operate/navigate all the items...the rollers, flower, etc, except the lady bug. She finds it hard to move it up and down. But I am sure, soon she will be able to enjoy that too.

Only one con though would be to some how have grip on the paws so that it doesnot slide away on the floor. It doesnot have good grip, so always make sure that is it resting against the wall or couch. I always keep an eye on my baby to make sure she doesn't fall.

Boikido Wooden Musical Set

The wooden zylophone barely makes different sounds when you play the different notes and the wooden sticks are not attached so my daughter uses them as chew toys instead of playing with them and they are very small and dangerous even for children 3 yrs old. The picture shows that a maracca comes with this set but instead I received some kind of wooden clapper which doesn't even make any noise unless you shake the hell out of it and it is a very dull sound. The flute makes one loud shrill noise and, again, the notes do not vary much. The tambourine is the only decent piece in this set. I should have returned the whole thing but my daughter threw the clapper in the garbage which, ironically, is really where it belongs.

These things do not make music. You are better off buying each instrument separately from somewhere else. Save your money. this is junk.

We love the instruments & the colors are so fun! Have to wait on a couple of them though because my 1 yr. old puts them in his mouth & they're still a little too small for him to do that. Overall we love the product though!

I bought this for my baby's one-year birthday, as she LOVES music/musical stuff. Mainly what sold me was the thought of having a wood xylophone, thinking the sound would be softer/more natural (and less annoying) than the usual metal ones found in every other nursery. However, these didn't have the "natural" sound I was hoping for and neither was much, if any, softer in pitch than the cheap metal ones. Furthermore, they didn't even sound the notes right. I had worried that only having four keys wasn't enough, but I couldn't have known that some made the exact sound. (I might as well have a couple scrap pieces from 2x4's to use.) So while this set looks appealing for the reason of varity, it really doesn't offer it. Case in point, read on:

The flute essencially doesn't work, and there's no way to get more than one note to come out of it. The tambourine is okay, but really is no drum. The little shaker is probably the best item out of the bunch, but I've seen much better ones and is not worth buying.

While my kids did take a big interest in it all, I think it was a rip off. I would have returned if I'd saved all the original packaging. I ended up trying to sell it in a garage sale for ten bucks but had no takers even remotely close, despite the fact that it was only two weeks old and just very gently used. So, I still have it for now, but I'm planning to replace it with something else.

The rain/wind cover for the Baby Jogger is really great. It's made well and feels like it will last for many years due to the quality of the materials used.

The only issue I have with the cover is that to fully and properly secure it to the front of the stroller, you almost have to get under the stroller to strap the Velcro straps. This is sometimes quite difficult, especially when you're standing out in the rain trying to do this quickly.

Otherwise, this rain cover is really great and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to keep their little one dry and out of the breeze.

I am so glad baby jogger made this cover. I ordered this online without much research and i am so pleased with this product. The materials are high quality. the plastic is thin but durable. completely wind proof and water proof with small ventilation holes. we have never had any fogging and use this all the time for the wind even when it is not raining. the middle zipper is the best part. you can leave the cover on and easily access your child without any trouble undoing the cover. just need to open the zipper! everything stays in place perfectly. the only complaint is the zipper is pretty flimsy and i worry it will break (the zipper handle), but no trouble so far and i have been using the cover daily for about one month. highly recommended.

First off I love my City Mini but the prices of everything else you have to buy gives me a headache. Though I knew before I bought the stroller. They sell two different types of covers the one that I have is with the black on the top and back of it, and the clear plastic all around which is the other one. I didn't think it was going to be a big difference when I purchased this one but it is. I would to replace it with the all plastic one but Its too cold outside waiting for a new one to come and I can't afford to buy another one.

Cons: The black fabric eliminates the ability to see your child threw the windows on top of the canopy which is very annoying. To check on my son I have stop and walk to the front of the stroller. I love the fact the I can see if he ok threw the flaps and now that's not even an option. Another thing is I have the all black city mini and its already dark for my son with the rain cover the black on the sides really makes it darker than it would be and makes my son uncomfortable.

Pros: The only pros I have with the cover is the zipper which makes it super easy to reach your child without having to take the whole thing off, that its super easy to put on, it folds real small because of the nylon fabric probably and that it does what it's suppose to shield my son from rain an protect him from the cold.

Overall I can't complain because my son is well protected but I just don't understand why the half plastic half nylon fabric cover is available. Would love to replace it with the all plastic one.

We love the BabyJogger rain canopy for our city mini stroller. It is a must have for inclement weather. This version of the rain cover (vs the version of 2 years ago) has a nice plastic that is thick enough to do the job, but not so thick that it cracks in coldest weather or is hard to fold up. Fits great over the stroller. Highly recommended.

Blankie, Fish Style

I got it as a gift for my 10 month old baby girl. She loves it!!!! she really likes to sleep with it and carry it with her everywhere. She calls it "tata"' and can't sleep without it anymore. The great thing about this product is that u can put the pacifier on the blanki so that you always know where it is, this is very important, especially for me:-) also, i really like the cotton pique fabric, it's so soft and nice. I think you could even start using it when your baby is much younger. Very recommended.

Disney Mini Aurora Sleeping Beauty Plush Doll -- 11'' H

My (3 year old) daughter loves this doll. Aurora is her favorite (mostly because of the pink dress!), and she has barely put this thing down since she got it. I love that it's smaller than the other line of Disney Princess dolls -takes up less space in her already crowded stuffed animal infestation! I will say that the light pink section around the top (the peplum, if you will!) has already started to fray after only a week of ownership. Definitely a design flaw because it had raw edges to begin with. My daughter doesn't seem to care, but I know that it will only get worse. That would be my only complaint. Other than that, it seems very well made.

Plum Pixie Child Costume

There are four pieces to the costume: dress, wings, magic wand, and headband. As another reviewer stated, the headband is too big -it's made of a loop of wire that's far too wide and just slips right over my daughter's head -but the rest of the costume is great. One thing I particularly like about it is that the bodice is made of a stretchy velvety material and fits nicely even on my skinny kid; most other costumes that I have looked at are cut too wide, and have no give to accommodate different-shaped kids. I believe that the stretch of this costume should accommodate regular-sized and chunky kids as well, but I haven't tried it out. The wings are really cool; they're made of a heavy duty wire with a lavender pantyhose-like material stretched over them, and so far they've put up with a decent amount of wear as my daughter wears them around the house, sits down, squashes them, etc. If she's bent them once or twice, they are easy to mold back into shape. The wand is quite long, maybe 16 inches, and has strings of ribbons and beads attached; watch out for the beads when your kid flicks her wrist to cast a spell, as they can smart if they hit you.

Like most Halloween costumes, it is not built for really heavy use; in particular, the edges of the cloth pieces are serged instead of being hemmed, so fraying is a hazard and I don't believe the costume would hold up to real abuse and lots of self-dressing unless I reinforced the piece edges and seams with some extra stitching. But it should be fine for Halloween. My daughter is mostly happy to put on the wings and traipse around, without the costume, which is good as the wings seem more durable than the dress.

UPDATE AFTER HALLOWEEN: To my surprise, this costume survived being worn for an entire day at preschool (including outdoor play and a nap rolling on those wings), followed by Trick or Treating, and is still fine for dress-up use afterward. The edges of the satiny part of the skirt frayed slightly, but the whole thing held together fine after a great deal of abuse.

I concur with another reviewer that it's a bit light for this to be the only layer worn for trick-or-treating outdoors, though it's OK for an indoor party.

We got this costume for our daughter when she was 3 years old. We were pleasantly surprised. It is well made. The wings and accessories (wand and headpiece) are fun too. She is now almost 5 years old and still plays with it. The waist streches well, so it fits different sizes. Wings needed new elastics (after a lot of abuse :-), but they are back in circulation. The costume was worth the money.

The dress itself was exactly as I had pictured. The color is very vibrant and bold. The flowers that adorn it, on the other hand, look very old and cheap. I wound up removing them and added my own flowers to it. The wand and crown both fell apart as soon as we took them out of the package. I had to redo them both. Overall, after I upgraded the costume it turned out very pretty. I would not tell my friends to purchase this costume unless they were prepared to do some work to it.

My 3-1/2 year old daughter had this costume for Halloween 2008 the headband, fairy wings, and wand really made this costume come together fantastic!

The dress is thin material (so thin that it is almost see-through), so she wore a long sleeve light purple top underneath it (any girl color would work though: pink, light blue, even just white) and she had white tights and did not complain once of being cold.

It is now the number one outfit for dress up tea parties!

Dancing Walter

I like this little dragon!

It is a bit difficult for my son (6 months old) to have the dragon dance becasue there is nothing at the bottom that he can easily grab. I guess the cow or the duck are better for this becasue they have legs/feet that babies can easily grab to make the animal dance! (well, vibrate!)

But overall, I like it! It looks very cute and entertains also my 2 year old!

Simply Natural Puppets Lion

I really wanted to get a puppet that I could use to entertain our 2 month old daughter, but alas, this is not the product. I love the fact that it is all natural and feels soft and durable, but I can not properly fit my hand inside to make it work as it should. I don't have really big hands, I would say I am an average sized woman, but it is impossiable for me to get each of my fingers where they need to be in order to interact with my baby. I think a child might be able to work this product better than I can, but I won't be able to test that theory for a few years yet. As of now it is really just another stuffed animal.

Bright Starts Tug Tunes Monkey- 4 Melodies

This was a baby shower gift for my son. This monkey was perfect for my little boy. It plays fun music that I don't get annoyed by like many other baby toys. It attaches easy to many things. My little boy likes to chew on it. He can't really pull it for music on his own yet so either I do or my 4 year old does it for him.

I adore the music it plays! Not annoying at all. Very cute toy! Seems durable and my little guy can get a good grip on it to turn the music on.

My 5 month old loves this toy. It occupies her while we are driving and it is sensitive enough that she is able to pull on the toy to make the music come on by herself.

I bought the monkey version of this toy for my then-ten-week-old son to encourage his burgeoning interest in grabbing things. Though when I tried the toy in the store it seemed very easy to trigger the music, it wasn't until he was about sixteen weeks old that he was strong enough to do it himself. However, he was already interested thanks to the easy-to-grip leaf portion and the monkey's bright, engaging face. Now that he can make the music play, we hear it emerging regularly from the back seat (the toy lives on his car seat handle), but it hasn't yet driven us insane. (Parents, you know this is high praise.) The music is pleasant and not tinny, the clip is not too long, and the volume is easy to hear but also fairly easy to ignore.

Silly Bandz Marvel Shapes Bandz

Bought these for my 7 year old son for Christmas and he loves them. Good buy for anyone who likes the silly band craze.

My son had a superhero birthday party and we put these in the goodie bags. I can't believe how expensive these bands are, in general! My kids are still young (3 and 5), but the older kids at the party (Kindergarden, 1st & 2nd graders) squealed in excitement when they saw the silly bandz in their bags.
