This is the best rattle. It's small, lightweight, great bright colors, easy for the smallest hands to grab and not overly loud. One end is a clear globe, the other is mirrored inside which catches the light and give s abit of added visual interest. I am horrified to see it listed for twenty bucks though as they are a dollar at Wally World!!

This is the best rattle. It has little rungs for little hands to grasp. It was the first rattle she could get a grip on. A lot of our other rattles are too big. She gets a hold and shakes, shakes, shakes. Lots of fun.

My son is 8 months old. My mother and mother-in-law have rattles just like this and when I saw how much he liked playing with them I just had to get one. It's great to give to him while I change his diaper or something like that, it keeps him from trying to roll over and escape.

I had been looking at this toy in our supermarket for a while I was going to get it as a 'stocking stuffer' for my daughter who will be 6 months at Christmas. Well we were in our supermarket again the other day and I decided that she had enough new stuff to play with on Christmas and that I hadn't got her a new toy in a while. It was cheaper at the big-chain supermarket than it is here on Amazon, so a bargain!

I showed it to my baby and she got excited and wanted it we paid for it, took it home and gave it to her then. She loves that it is easy to grab hold of and that it is light enough she can batter it off of her other toys! It makes a nice rattling noise, nothing harsh or too loud (apart from when it is being battered against a Jumperoo!!) but noisy enough that she keeps on shaking it enthusiastically. I offer her this toy when she is sat in her Jumperoo/highchair/laying on the floor and her eyes will light up and she reaches out and grabs it and proceeds to try and fit the rattles into her mouth they are a bit too big for that, so this isn't really one of those toys which can be chewed on easily.

The toy seems well made (I was a little concerned with how violent she was being with it incase the plastic cases of the rattly balls broke and scattered the tiny balls everywhere but I don't think that's going to happen! It's sturdy enough to stand up to an over-excited 6 month old!) it's bright and appealing for a young baby.

I would recommend this as a great little rattle for younger babies as soon as they can really grab things and I expect my daughter will be interested in this for a good while now. Nice, simple, noisy enough for baby but not loud enough to offend adult ears & SO easy for little hands to grab a hold and keep a hold, even if they decide to beat it off of everything in sight!

This rattle has the best design. The "double helix" style connectors between the two balls are perfect for little hands to grasp. My son, who is now six months old, loves this rattle more than all others. When he was a newborn, just learning to fix his gaze on objects, he enjoyed following this rattle as I shook it in front of him. It was the first object that he could grasp firmly, and now he loves to pick it up, drop it, exchange it between hands, teethe on it, and -of course shake it himself.

As far as concerns over it being hard plastic, well -hard plastic is just that -hard. Know your kids and what they are and are not ready for. My son likes to shake all of his toys vigorously at this point, and while occasionally he'll bop himself in the face, he has never sustained any injury from doing so (if anything, he has an expression of surprise for a moment or two before resuming play). Moreover, I find this particular rattle to be safe as it has rounded edges and is fairly small, so he has a better command of it than some of his other toys, too. Also, it's very easy to wash clean with dish soap and warm water -a bonus for parents.

I have a 6 month old son, and I'm beginning to notice the short timespan many toys are developmentally appropriate for babies. They just grow and learn so fast! This toy is an exception to that rule. We got this as a Christmas present when he was 2 months old, and at first, he mostly just liked to watch it as we dangled it above him. It caught his interest very well, though -we would just hold it and twist it gently, and because the neck is floppy, the toys would just dangle and swing around -worked like a charm at stopping a few fussy fits.

We then hung it from the bars of his activity mat, and he really loved batting at it -the big black and white foot was the best (my husband called it the "hypno-foot" because of the black and white swirl and circle design -and it hypnotized the baby.) Once he was old enough, he really liked grabbing onto the ring "foot". Now he is teething, and the red flat plastic foot and the mirror foot are great things to chew on. He has outgrown the activity mat somewhat, but likes playing with the giraffe while sitting or during tummy time. I have a feeling he hasn't found the end to it's uses yet!

Very few toys can hold the interest of a 2,3,4,5, and 6 month old (and likely beyond). The fact that this has a nice large velcro loop for attaching to things also means that you can attach it wherever without having to worry about using the plastic ring things -it can wrap around a carrier handle or a crib rail just as well (which are hard to attach things to with the rings).

Love this way more than the Lamaze giraffe we also have (he has never been too interested in that one) -so if you're going for a giraffe toy, get this one instead!

UPDATE -my son is now 11 months old, and loves having the giraffe attached to the bar across his car seat. It worked as a great distraction on some long trips. I think he'll be disappointed when we move him to the next size up car seat and we have no where to hang it!

My 7 month old son is teething so he was biting the ends (one tooth coming in, other than that, he's all gums) and he hurt his mouth on the striped mirror. He's fine, no injuries. There are teething pieces on the end of this toy that are softer for his gums, but babies cannot differentiate. He likes this toy, but gets bored with it fast.

My son received this toy as a gift when he as about 2 and a half months and he's been playing with it every day since then. It's currently my go to toy to make him happy. First of all, my son LOVES this toy! The feet have fun, interactive objects. The colors are bright. He holds it by the neck and flips it around and around. He's liked it since he was 2 months old. He's 6 months old now.

Here's the problem... one of the feet has a mirror on it... the black and white circle foot. This MIRROR insert came loose and presents a choking hazard if the child can pull it off... mine started too.

I contacted KIDS II... the customer person (no clue btw!) suggested I needed to remove the plastic covering on the mirror and that the packaging states to remove film covers, etc. Well, that was NOT the problem and she clearly does not understand. I KNOW that you need to remove plastic films from toys...duh! The actual MIRROR can come loose and come off in the child's mouth and choke them.

I have removed the mirror insert now and given the toy back to my son, but POO POO on KIDS II for having no clue on this issue and not even attempting to correct it.

Parents, just be aware and remove the mirror. Feel free to contact KIDS II also and tell them what you think if you feel the same way.

UPDATE (3-2012): Kids II discussed this item with me and sent a replacement. This one is slightly better, but my son doesn't have an interest in it anymore.

The first time after I washed them up I let my daughter chew on it (which she loved) I smelled such an awful smell I went into the garage thinking that some paint thinner had spilled in there. This was perfect for our daughter as she was beginning to cruise. Offered loads of support and easy to maneuver. Even my 3-year old enjoys playing with it as both a bike and a wagon for loading and unloading toys. Our Hungry Pelican is now on child number three and shows no signs of wear despite being a favorite crib toy for many years.

The bright yellow velour pelican ties onto the crib railing. His fat cheeks squeak, his wings crinkle, and his feet rattle. He comes with four sea creatures (crab, shrimp, fish, and octopus) that are each different textures and colors, and make different sounds (rattle, rustle, etc.). Children can put the little animals into pelican's mouth and watch them drop down into his tummy. The large circular tummy opening allows for easy removal of the animals so play can begin all over again.

The Hungry Pelican is ok. I gave it as a gift to my niece for her 1st Bday and she has fun with it, but... only when the Pelican is outside the cradle. We need to tie the Pelican outside the cradle so she will play with it.

She got the notion quickly of feeding the Pelican. She stuffed all the small animals, but only once every time! I think she's a smart girl thinking once the animals are inside of the Pelican's tummy, well, he's already fed.

She does, however, play with the small stuffed animals and carries them all around the house.

Our son received the Hungry Pelican when he was 8 months old. We tied it into his crib right away. It took him a couple weeks to notice it but it soon became the favorite toy. He will play quietly in his crib in the mornings (giving me time to get ready for work!), taking the creatures out of the belly and playing with them. I am not sure he knows how to feed it just yet but that will come... I've found pacifiers and other items in the belly too and the little creatures all over the room. In terms of giving Mom and Dad a couple more minutes of quiet, this has been a lifesaver! (and the little shrimp cracks me up!)

We love this toy it has lasted two kids and still in perfect condition. The pelican's belly doubles as a pacifier holder our daughter knows where to go looking for them when it's naptime and she puts them away there too when it's time to wake up. I've also noticed that both our kids for some odd reason liked to snuggle underneath the pelican's fuzzy feet while they are sleeping (it just barely touches their foreheads when lying down) at first we used to move them because it seemed uncomfortable but they just go back they really seem to like it. If your little one is anything like mine, (s)he will be able to tell from a young age that this is not the "real" thing. Even at 12 months my daughter prefers realistic objects. I bought this toy as a distraction for a 1.5 hr plane ride. I guess I was naieve to think any toy would be distracting enough to sit still for that long. All in all, a decent enough toy.

I love the idea of this laptop but the actual screen part that lights up is so tiny. I don't quite understand why they made it so small that you can't see much. That's really my only complaint with this toy but since it's a laptop toy it's a pretty big deal to have the screen so small

North American Bear Velveteenie Circus Knotted Baby Cozie Plush

My son (6 months old) is always in need of something in his mouth to fall asleep. I bought him the North American Bear Company flatopotamus and he loves it. He needs it to fall asleep. It was impossible to get it in the wash and dried in time for his next nap so I bought this one to switch off (North American Bear Company Velveteenie Knotted Lion). Who knew that he would love this one more? ... My son loves the many knots on the lion's mane. He "nom-noms" on the lions paws while he feels & plays with the knots in the lions mane. The poor flatopotamus has now taken a back seat. Now that I'm back to square one with the need of a back-up soother so I ordered the knotted giraffe one today. If I were to change one thing, I would prefer that it not be stuffed for 2 reasons (1) It is lightly stuffed but after a couple of washes, the stuffing is lumpy and is no longer one fluffy center (2) For fear of SIDS, I would be less concerned if it were flat with no stuffing like the flatopotamus. Some might complain that this cozie plush is small but I personally think its the perfect size for tiny hands ... I think my son agrees.

My five month old baby was having a hard time learning to sleep in his crib without being nursed to sleep so I bought this lion for him to use as a lovey. It's perfect! He can suck on the knots, snuggle into it, or hold the tail as he falls asleep. The body is very lightly stuffed but not perfectly flat like a blanket so I'm not worried about it being a suffocation hazard. It has worked exactly how we were hoping it would and the baby now falls asleep in a few minutes without fussing the majority of the time. In fact, I just ordered a second one today as a back up for when the other one is in the wash!

I got this plushy for my infant as a "transitional object" when trying to move him away from swaddling and pacifiers. He likes it, it's a small enough size that doesn't overwhelm him or the crib, the knots can be chewed on, and the whole thing can be thrown in the washer/dryer and it comes out looking (and smelling!) like new. I ended up buying a second one to leave at daycare to help with settling down during nap times. It seems expensive for what it is a lightly stuffed, mostly flat, not too big, cute velor toy but it fulfilled our needs. I would recommend this, especially for parents who prefer not to pick "traditional" blankie/lovie/dolly items for their kids.

Combi Rock N Roll Walker, Red

We LOVE this walker!!! I was hesitant to order at first because there were no reviews, but this walker is AWESOME.

GREAT POINTS:

It has adjustable heights, so my 7 month old son can "walk" even at its lowest height. He also won't outgrow it quickly, because it extends up to a tall height, so I foresee us using this for many months.

It moves smoothly and freely, so it's not as "stiff" as other walkers I've seen. We have another walker for our upstairs area, and (for safety reasons) I like that it is one-track; however, for the open space where my son wants to roam freely, this walker is great to let him run out his energy freely.

The "bumper" around the bottom of the walker is not hard plastic, so when my son gets going and crashes into cabinets, doors, etc, it (1) doesn't jar him as to injure and (2) doesn't mark the furniture or cabinets he runs into. This is HUGE....I have dinged woodwork everywhere from another toy he's run into the walls....

There is a "stopper" that pushes down easily in the rear of the walker by foot press. So, if we want to make it a standing-still play toy, it is easily switched from a walker to an activity center.

The lights, sounds, and driving center are fun and enough to hold his attention without being loud, obnoxious, and overly annoying for the adults in the room.

VERY easy to put together. Assembly was easy and effortless....toughest part was putting the seat on the harness. Little tricky, but comforting to know it's secure.

Great price comparable to other walkers on the market.

Overall, I'd recommend this over and over again....he cries to get INTO this thing, and my son is a "Baby Bjorn" child who wants to be on me at all times. HE LOVES IT and it allows me to get much needed things around the house done.

My 2 year old is a mad Thomas fan & was very excited to get this toy for his birthday. He loves the squeeze & squirt Thomas, but I actually ended up having to take the boat away from him because it sinks & he gets very frustrated. As soon as you pull the string to make the boat move through the water, it goes (very slowly) and sucks in water, so it makes it about halfway across the tub and then capsizes. We tried everything to make it work, but it is determined to sink to the bottom. After a few nights of crying episodes because his boat wouldn't stay on top of the water, I just took it out of the bath. I don't understand why they'd make a child's bath toy that doesn't float.

I think the toy could be fun... if it worked. Like the other reviewer, we pulled the string a few times the first time we had it in the bath... then it got stuck and no longer works. It doesn't move very much in the water, and it sinks. I think it would almost be more useful out of the water. We only got it yesterday, and it's broken after one use in the tub... very frustrating! I'll try to see if we can return it. Don't waste your time on this one.

Just got this for my 2 year old. Showed him how to pull the string to make it go and he really liked that part. Until about the 7th pull when the string got stuck in mid pull and won't move in or out. When it did move , the boat went Very SLowly through the water. This is a very poorly designed toy. Would have expected better from Thomas. I guess they've outsourced their designing to China , too.

The bear is as cute as can be, but it did not come with a scarf!! The scarf definitely adds to the bear and makes it look more "Christmas-y," but without it, it isn't as special. I'm not 100% satisfied. Make sure you're getting a scarf before you order! I feel like I paid more than it's worth without a scarf.

The little polar bear is very cute-"My First Christmas" clearly visible on Paulie's left paw. He is nice size for an infant gift. I would have given 5 stars, however, his red scarf was missing. I noted in someone else's review that their item was received minus the scarf as well, although I don't know if it was from the same vendor.

Bright Starts Cute Critters Activity Jumper

After the smashing success we had with the Rainforest Jumperoo for my grandson, I was sold on the idea of a jumper, rather than something like an Exersaucer for my granddaughter. So, when my granddaughter (2.5 mos) started showing signs of boredom unless 'standing' and bouncing, or being constantly walked around, we decided to pick up a jumping apparatus for her.

I looked all over the internet for something that wasn't identical to the Jumperoo. Nothing really caught my eye, and living in a rural community, we decided to make the trek to the evil empire (Walmart) and found these for $65. They had jumperoos for $95 there, but we decided to get this because of the 5 height adjustments, rather than the 3 heights on the Jumperoo. And, the fact that this can be easily disassembled and transported in the car.

Overall, the quality seems fine, the piano will most likely come in handy in the future, and she's actually able to sit in it without 'drowning' in the seat. (The jumperoo's seat was much deeper.) The springs seem to be a little tighter than Jumperoo, which may or may not be a good thing. My only real issue with this, when compared to jumperoo is the quality and assortment of toys. Yes, we can hang her own 'stuff' on it, but there doesn't seem to be any real good spinny or pop-up devices to intrigue a child and hold their interest. If they release some toys we can mount, and include spinning or pop up features, I'll change my rating to a 5.

BTW, at 2.5 months, her feet are only about 3" off the ground on the lowest setting, which isn't bad at all. We raised it to the top setting and put a small footstool under so she could get a grip and start bouncing.

My daughter loves her Rainforest Jumperoo at her grandma's house; but we were looking for something slightly smaller for our home. This is only slightly smaller but still leaves a much smaller footprint than the Rainforest Jumperoo. She will go crazy in this thing for a while bouncing, jumping and playing with all the toys. It is very safe and sturdy so I do not feel scared at all leaving the room for a minute to get some stuff done. It also has very generous height settings too so she can definitely grow with it. It is a bit hard to turn in but I think as she gets older, bigger and stronger, she will not have much of a problem. She loves all the toys which seem really locked in there which is great. There are extra loops that I hang more toys/teethers from. I have it so tricked out that my husband is sure I am giving her ADHD. My only complaint is that the controls to the piano are underneath so it makes it hard to know if you have it off/on/which setting its on/the volume control. It was pretty easy to put together save for getting the seating pad into place. The tabs that hook it on do not seem to be in the right spots so it is a bit tough to line up and really get on there. She is now seven months and still having a ball in it.

First I'll introduce myself... =) I'm 25 and a mom of 3 girls... I had sold all my baby stuff as we had decided we were done having kids and then we changed our mind and were blessed with our third daughter who is now 7 months old! =)

I had the original jumperoo for our second daughter and she loved it so when I saw this I NEEDED TO OWN IT! lol All the pink and toys and 360 spinning seat...it's awesome. I'm not sure why some people have commented on the seat not spinning well. My best friends daughter is 3 days older than my youngest but they are very different in size. Her little lady is in the 27th percentile for weight and height where as my sweet little lady is in the 97th for weight and height...both girls had NO problem spinning around. Yes, the one flower with the face on it does not bend but they made it this way so you could attach toys to it that they could chew on while they looked at its smiling little face. =) This is a great buy. I bought this when my little lady was 5 months old and it took her a little bit to figure out the jumping part but she adores this thing...

By far my favorite moment with this toy was when she found her face in the little mirror... =) It still makes me laugh. BONUS I don't know if it's the angle or what, but if ever my little girler is having trouble having a BM, a few minutes in this thing and she's good to go! LOL

All in all, this is a great buy, all my friends are jealous when they come and see it... =) Would make a GREAT baby shower gift as well. Whether it's on the register or not! =) You'll enjoy it.

I purchased this for my nearly six month old daughter, who is pretty much in the 50 percentile for her height. At its lowest level, there is 10 inches between the bottom of the seat and the floor. With my daughter in it, her legs still dangle in the air a good 2-3" above the floor. The springs are very stiff and it just doesn't give much. By the time my daughter can use this, she'll be ready to start walking.

Waste of money.

My 5-month old loves this jumperoo! We added her old toys to all the rings (provided with jumper) and she loves reaching for them while playing with the "station" toys on the jumper. My only complaint is that one station has a flower and a leaf, and neither toy does anything. My daughter loves the color of that flower, and pulls on it a lot, but it doesn't make noises like the other stations do. Maybe Bright Starts could switch the location of the still flower with the one that twills, making all four stations exciting.

I thought this product may have been smaller in size because of the link at the top. It is a larger doll, but not so big that my 9 month old couldn't handle it. She loves all of the colors and things to play with. It rattles, which she likes. I think it is a great toy to grow into. She can use it now to look at, shake, and chew on, but later, use it to learn the self dress things.

I bought this for my baby(when purchasing a few of the Karen Katz books)when she was only a newborn and she has snuggled with it every night in her crib since! She is 8 months old now. It is adorable, machine washable, durable and she loves it! *I recently purchased the boy character/doll for my son, yet to be born. I'm sure it's going to become his favorite "lovey" too :-)

Edushape Educolor Building Blocks, Set of 30

So I got these blocks about a year ago for my 2 year old nephew to play in the water, but he loved them so much he wants to play with them all the time. Not only did he love them, but so did my much older nieces and nephews. Now my nephew has a baby sister who loves these blocks too and you don't have to worry about rough play with these blocks because even though they are firm they are too lightweight and soft to cause injury. They have been thrown, sat on, bitten and submerged in water, but they are still going strong! As a bonus the box is pretty sturdy and a nice size with a convenient handle.

The Good:

Blocks are made of high quality dense foam. The blocks can be stacked very high and don't give out under their own weight. When they do fall over they fall over NO SOUND!! I was originally concerned that 30 blocks was not going to be enough for enjoyable play, but I found that it was an excellent amount. My boys play with them more than I thought they would. The curved pieces can add a bit of a challenge for younger children and keep it interesting and creative. I'm very happy with this purchase for the amount I paid.

The Bad:

The only thing that I can say is that our dog also enjoyed the blocks as chew toys and we now need to reorder.

Overall:

High-quality stacking toy that is easy on the wallet and ears.

I had a set of these when I was a kid, so I knew I wanted to get some for my daughter. In the bath they are so much fun because the water makes them stick together slightly just from the surface tension, so it's fun to make rafts and stick the blocks on the side of the tub or the tile. Endless possibilities. We got the set of 30, and I think if we had any more, I'd be annoyed that there were so many. 30 is a good number.

I bought these for my grandchildren 15 and 18 mos. old. Both kids love them. I was afraid they would be flimsy but they aren't. They are well constructed.

Got these for my Grandson and I to play with and help him learn his colors and shapes. The blocks are soft, colorful, and light wieght....as in if tossed they really can't hurt much. He is learning his colors nicely, shapes are coming along a litle slower, but still coming. The blocks themselves are a little hard to do any actual building with because they are so light weight they just fallover at the slightest air movement. Can be very difficult to keep a 2 year interested for any length of time. however they are nice bright toys and made well.

Sesame Street Teething Baby Blanket

I just got this blanket, I bought it as a gift so I don't know yet if baby likes it or not. But I just wanted to let people know that this is small, its a good size for baby to hold, but it's not a blanket to wrap around or anything close to that. It's probably a little over 1 ft long (equally wide), Elmo's head is smaller than a tennis ball. It's more like a burping rag size than a blanket. It's cute, just a lot smaller than I expected.

We attached this to the carseat. Our son loves it for snuggling, crinkles the crinkly part when he gets bored and chews on the teether oh and of course there's Elmo. What's not to love?!

We gave this to our son at 3 months and he as really taken a liking to this teething blanket. I think his favorite part of it is the crinkly corner. I attached his to the side of his car seat and I can always hear him crinkling it as I am driving. He loves to snuggle with it and chew anywhere on the blanket. He has had it for one month now and whenever I put it in his reach he grabs at it. The bright red of elmo really catches his attention.

Baby Sunflower Baby 15"

We have three Geddes dolls, one for each of my three girls, and they are a marvelous toy. Although these dolls are fine enough for a collector's display (the clothes and the facial expressions are first-rate), they are durable enough to be a child's favorite, and ours are certainly well-loved. Just about every doll in the house has worn the sunflower hat at one time or another--if they are Very good.

I must admit that I was being a little selfish when I bought this doll for my 19 month old daughter for Christmas... Although as it turned out, she absolutley loved it! It is her new favorite baby. All her other dolls have been soft and although she still loves them, this one is the first doll that has looked like a real baby. That's one great thing about Anne Geddes dolls, they're aren't very many life-like baby dolls for 18 months. When she first opened it she started pointing to a baby picture of herself and saying "baby". My daughter must have it with her at all times and kisses her constantly. I think that the Sunflower hat is adorable but my daughter is adament about taking it, and the booties, off. I think it's because she herself doesn't like having a hat or socks on! Anyway I really don't have anything bad to say about this doll. I will probably buy another Anne Geddes doll in the future. I'd buy one for myself if my daughter would let me!
