Magic Slates

I was disappointed in the quality of this magic slate product for the price. It looked sturdy on the picture but is really a flimsy cardboard, not even flat. It is like the old 5 and 10 cent store magic slates with the twist that instead of pulling up to erase you slide the sheets...and they sometimes gets stuck when sliding them back into place. The best I can say is that the magic slate serves its purpose.

It's a waste of money, though it only costs under $4. It consists of a paper board that can be easily pulled out but hard to put back by a baby b/c it's a type of thin paper, so you'll have to lend a hand. The 4 colored sides are also paper and the screen is made of cheap plastic.

It looks cheap, feels cheap and only last for minutes, for it's easily tore apart by any curious 18 months old baby.

Not recommended AT ALL. It's not worth even under $1.

This arrived with the plastic all wrinkled and the way that this particular slate is built, you cannot remove the slate from the cardboard frame so there is no chance you can straighten it out so you can actually write on it. The design is so flawed compared to the other ones, I was really disappointed and had to return it. Not even worth $1 IMO

Cool product! Saves paper! Fun to use and so much cheaper and easy to carry around than a whiteboard or a magna doodle, which I was thinking of purchasing. Glad I got the Magna Slate instead. I am actually a college student and I find it very useful for writing and memorizing organic chemistry reactions.

I ordered two of these. One was in good shape. The slate slid in and out of the frame easily. On the second one, the slate was difficult to slide in and out. I teach preschool, and we use these slates as a pre-writing tool. The children need to be able to slide the slate in and out on their own. The slates need to be consistent in their ease of operation in order for young children to be able to work the slate on their own. These slates are preferable to the ones where the plastic lifts off of the slate. The plastic sheet can tear and bend. I like the idea of the slate sliding in and out of the frame.

Fisher-Price Growing Baby Musical Xylo Fish

The Xylofish looks super cute, and I thought it would be a great gift for my daughter who is currently 11 months. However, the three keys are so hard to play. Although the star is a good size for infants to hold, it doesn't do a good of actually striking the xylophone keys. Sound production is poor.

This toy's design is very cute, but the xylophone keys don't make any sound unless you hit them on a very small sweet spot -which is very tricky for our 14 month-old to do! Save your money or buy another music-maker for your child.

I got this toy for my 1 year old b/c she LOVES banging on all the pots and pans in the house! The star shaped wand is easy to grip, but when you hit the fish, nothing happens. You have to hit the little musical "keys" in exactly the right spot to get just a little "ping" and the bottom of the fish (where is rests on the ground) is curved, so when you hit it, it just rocks back and forth b/c it is not stable. Overall, a BIG waste! For the $10, just go to Kmart and buy a junky pot and plastic spoon b/c it will work WAY better than this!

Whitney Brothers Birch Laminate Toddler Step And Ramp

I was searching for a wood/green climbing structure and ramp to use with babies (8-9 months old) and toddlers (up to two years old), in the parenting classes I teach in my home. I took a chance on ordering this one, even though there were no reviews, because it seemed to best suit my needs, and the price was very reasonable, especially compared to other similar objects.

The piece arrived today, and I couldn't be more pleased. It required assembly, which was quick and easy(all screws and hex wrench enclosed). It is a well made, stable, sturdy, nicely finished, piece of equipment, and just the right size for the babies and toddlers, to provide both safety, and a fun climbing, sliding, balancing challenge. It was carefully packed and there was no damage in shipping. It is small enough and lightweight enough to be moved to another room or location in my home, but solid and sturdy enough not to be moved around by toddlers climbing and playing on it(or be moved around by them pushing and pulling on it).

I will post some pictures and write more after "test driving" it in class next week, but I think this was a good investment, and again, I searched far and wide, and found nothing comparable in terms of quality and price.

Fisher-Price Little People Zoo Talkers Animal Sounds Safari Truck

We bought all the pieces for the "Zoo Talkers" and this truck is by far the favorite! I should have purchased two so there wouldn't be any fights!! They love to load up the truck with as many animals as they can and push the truck all around the house. The truck doesn't recognize the animals, but it does make noises when the driver is pressed in the front seat. If your child likes the Zoo Talkers Zoo set, they will probably enjoy this truck for transporting all those animals around.

My 2 year old received this as a birthday present and he loves it. I'm glad that it came with two more zoo talker animals to go with the zoo he already has. It was really easy to get out of the package too. I kinda wish it didn't come with another "Eddie" character. But it really doesn't matter. My son is happy to play with it anyway. You press on the driver to hear sounds and music.

Great toy, I foresee lots of fun playing with it.

My 18 month old daughter loves this truck. She loves to put things in it and roll it around on the floor. This is her first experience with imagination play and independent play. She has been playing with this, and the Zoo, and other Zoo Talkers animals for about 4 months now. She is a big fan. I love how durable it all is, and how well they work together. She could play with these toys for hours. Also, they are fun for me to play with with her. I can't say that for all her toys. Some get really boring for me. These are always entertaining.

This was purchased as an addition to the Zoo. It is a good supplemental piece to the set and is very sturdy as are most of Fisher Price products. The giraffe is very cute and is my granddaughter's favorite animal that she is thus far.

Tolo Toys Baby Concerto

I have to admit that I like Tolo toys. They are always made with high quality materials that last well and the electronic noises are realistic too. This musical toy plays 5 tunes, either one at a time or by pressing the demo button you can play all 5 in a row. The teddy dances around to the music which my 12 month old finds fun to watch when she's in her high chair. You can also switch to piano mode where the 5 buttons play a different note each.

I can't fault the toy really, but whether it is worth $25 is questionable.

I was surprised to read the negative reviews on this toy. It was both my daughter's and son's favorite toy at 1 year of age, so naturally I thought to buy it for my nephew's first birthday. It is still in perfect condition and plays beautifully. Yes there are less expensive pianos with a lot more features, my kids have those too. But honestly all of those features are superfluous for a toddler and have the tendency to drive parents crazy (who needs to hear a kid pounding on a piano board with horn sounds and a back up drum beat?). This toy is worth the extra money.

I'm writing a review because I was disappointed to see the others. Yes, it's expensive, but it's a fantastic toy. Both our kids loved it, and I handed it down to my niece. What's great is that it makes is a gentle, chime sound instead of the louder and more electronic noise many other toys make. It plays some classical tunes on its own with the bear moving, and it can also be switched to a mode where the child can play it like a piano. It's a do, re, mi, fa, sol scale --enough to be able to pick out a few basic songs. I was looking at it here because I'm considering it as a gift for friends with a newborn. So maybe at this price it's more of a gift kind of toy --a luxury.

Dragon Ball

Today I watched my son play with all the balls. Of course he threw them out of the dragon, hug the dragon around the neck, pull on the ring, and touch all the scales. My son is not even 9 months and he loves it.

Its great for kids who don't yet know how to sit on their own. The tail provides a soft place to land. The balls provide additional stability. He can fall forward, back, side to side with out hurting himself. In the first 2 days he played 40m each time in it.

Plus the pictures of your kid in it are fantastic.

Gruffalo: Hand Puppet by Kids Preferred

We bought 3 of this puppet via Amazon. When it arrived I was really pleased with the product as it looks great and the exterior is really well made. Unfortunately, from the moment it arrived, the gruffalo we kept for our son (the other 2 were bought as gifts) started to loose stuffing from first its horn and then its back. It appears that the interior stitching is inadequate (not enough material and stitching easily apart). I considered returning it, however, the process from Australia is quite convuluted and I thought there would be a high chance of a similar problem with the next one! So ended up just accepting this toy as it is. Disappointing as it is otherwise a cool puppet!

This is such an adorable hand puppet. My children love it. However, right out of the bag I noticed that the seam on the side was already broken, and there is about a half inch of missing seam. I am sure this can be easily fixed with needle and thread, but for the price I paid I expect a flawless product. Overall, we love this gruffalo and the hours of puppeteer fun a child can enjoy. Very educational and fun puppet, just the quality of how it was made is questionable.

50 Piece Jumbo Sized Wooden Alphabet Blocks

The blocks that we received did not live up to the title. We received 40 blocks instead of the 50 we ordered. Also, the product description lists the toy as: Kid-safe, water-based paint, non-toxicpaints...the blocks we received were made in China which leaves us a little unsettled on the safety for our child and nowhere on the product packaging does it repeat the safety claim listed on Amazon. If we had it to do over, we would have made a different purchase.

B. Zany Zoo

Great toy. Helps with coordination, counting, alphabet, etc. Bought this for my 1yr old and she still loves it at 2. Very entertaining when I reintroduce it to her as new. I got mine from target and it cost under $50. They are overcharging here on Amazon!!! My little one never got her hand stuck in this. (Hopefully she never will.)

Our 8-month-old son outgrew his favorite toy (the Fisher-Price Jumperoo) about a month ago. His increased mobility meant the Jumperoo felt more constricting than freeing, and we'd been having trouble finding a new toy to fill the void left in the Jumperoo's disuse. We stumbled across this on accident and bought it because it reminded us of several toys we'd loved in childhood, with the added bonus they were all rolled into one.

We cannot stress how much our son loves this toy. Each face has something different for him to explore. When he's finished with one side for the time being, he'll move around to other sides or the top to keep the amusement coming. Even as I type, he's busy banging closed the doors on one side of the cube.

The top is easily the best part for both us and our son. David's had a fabulous time using it not only to stand but to figure out, finally, how to fall into a sit. The day before yesterday, he literally giggled the whole time he practiced sitting for an hour. More practice yesterday and he's both a falling and a sitting pro. Note, as another reviewer mentioned, you DO have to sit close by, because the wrong lean *can* lead it to tip for a not-yet-autonomous stander. This happens in maybe a quarter probably a high estimate of our son's stands so far.

Then there's all the fun in pushing the top toys along their preset paths along the top. The bridges encourages him to figure out movement under and on both sides of each bridge. This is in addition to watching him explore both pushing animals (and beads!) along their path and figuring out how to rotate them in circles where they stand.

We're amazed how much fun and challenge can be fit into one single cube. This is beautifully designed, aesthetically pleasing, free from sharp corners and overall an amazing toy. We're honestly trying to think who else we can buy one of these for! The temptation is rather strong to just play with it ourselves.

If only we'd had this as children! :)

Parental supervision required AT ALL TIMES! It appears that there are different configurations of this toy. I got the version which has a side with nine triangular rotating blocks (three animals on each vertical set while the horizontal blocks have different the animal's head, body, and feet). The first time my 1 y.o son played with it, he got his hands stuck in between these blocks. B zany really should make the blocks larger or add bars to block these gaps. Other than that I think this toy is very educational and great for developing fine motor skills, parents please watch your children with this toy!

My 10 mo daughter LOVES this toy cube. She's not the most easily entertained baby (she'll never make it into a YouTube video squealing with delight over ripped paper or a sneeze, for example), but this thing made her giggle and jump up and down from the moment it hit the floor (in the box, no less). Her favorite thing to do (since she was 2 or 3 months old) is to stand and this toy is perfect for her to stand and play at the same time. She's just starting to stand unassisted and I really think this will help her gain confidence.

She loves the beads on top (and the little animals), but her favorite thing to do is to open and close the doors on one of the sides of the toy. She loves the toy and I love watching her love it!

I'm not a huge fan of the earthy colors, but it is still a very attractive toy. Ours seems very well constructed and I expect it to last for years and years -long enough for us to store it away to give to our daughter for her kids, I bet. I don't doubt some folks have had some quality issues, but the one we have looks about as good as I could hope for a toy to look.

One of my favorite features of this thing is the rounded corners on the top of the cube as well as on the doors. No toy is perfectly safe, but this one looks like it is designed with some care and attention to detail.

We got this toy for my daughter when she turned 9 months. She started walking at the same time so we were having a hard time with all other toys that she could take with her. she tends to trip easily because she is tiny and with a toy in her hands she is not paying much attention to her balance. This toy is heavy, so she can't take it... but she walks around it discovering all its parts. I can't tell what part she likes the most because she just plays with everything.... My favorite part is she can play and there is no clean up!!!! Everything else requires cleaning up: tea set, balls, geometric shapes,puzzles, fake food..etc. I love IT! Thomas the Tank Bowl

Any Thomas the train fan will love this like my grandson does. The photo is not a decal which is perfect as sometimes overtime the decal will raise and bubble and then bacteria can possibly get in or no more Thomas the Train to view in the bowl. Perfect for my little one.

2 year old grandson loves it. Will not use any other bowl including his Cars bowl. High quality, washes easily. Do not microwave more than 45 seconds as bowl burns at longer time. This was a replacement for the bowl that came with a set and at 60 seconds bowl burnt and was no longer usable. They should have had a warning on the package on the original set.

Fisher-Price Sesame Street Giggle N Go Driver - Elmo

Our son loves this toy. He was 8 months when we bought it and granted it took him acouple attempts to play with it and not be started by the noise when he turned the steering wheel or pushed on the turn signals, which are super cute cause the arrows light up and the toy says " cookie cookie " when the light blinks.

I can put this toy in the crib with him and he will play with it and let me get an extra 15-20 minutes worth of sleep....

GREAT TOY !!

My 16 month old son isn't into this so much, he likes to sit in his carseat and just reach a hand over...and hold down the "radio" buttons, which is Oscar saying "all Garbage, ALL the time" and then some music.

I'm not yet at my limit of noisy toys, I'm coping, and I still give him this thing, but whooooaaaa, that gets annoying quick! I eventually start looking for a good hard right turn that will toss it out of his reach!

This toy is painfully loud, and there's no way to adjust the volume.

If your child will be playing with it outdoors or something silly like that, then it's decent. The sound effects and phrases are amusing, and there's lots of different interactions (push, pull, twist, turn, etc).

Indoors, however, it's just too loud, even for adults (children generally have better hearing than adults, so if it's loud to us, it's even louder to them).

My son has this toy.....I think it's hilarious and probably play with it more than he does. It's too funny. As for it being loud....it's no louder than some of the other toys out there. It's extremely durable as we have laminate flooring and my son has tossed/dropped it several times. He'll be two year old next week and he still has fun playing with this toy.

Plush Santa's Workshop Baby Talk Playset 8"

I bought this set at the beginning of December for my 28 month old son. I thought it would be fun for him to have a Christmas themed toy for the month, since he's more excited about Christmas this year than last. I was surprised to receive it and realize that all the 4 little characters make a noise or song when squeezed. I just double-checked the product description and it says nothing of this fact, which is fine, but that's why I'm always hesitant to buy things without product reviews!

So I'll be the first to review for others.

When squeezed, the Santa says "Ho ho ho."

The Elf makes a kind of xylophone, "magic" sound similar to a sound of turning the page for read along books.

Snowman plays the tune of "Frosty the Snowman."

Reindeer plays the tune of "Jingle Bells."

All the sounds are fine, just note that the Frosty and Jingle Bells songs are really FAST, so if your toddler asks you to sing along, you will have to sing FAST!

The Santa's Workshop is sturdy and my toddler loves toting it around by the handle and putting all the characters inside.

All in all, it's a very cute gift for toddlers and fun for the holidays. I'm sure that eventually when the tiny battery wears down inside the characters, my son will still enjoy them without the sounds.

Happy Horse Blanket Pal

First off, I love giraffes so I may be a tad bias. But the fabric is super plush and soft. The giraffe is quite cute. Only problem is the paci holder velcro doesnt seem to stick at all. But i just ran a little needle and thread through it and our paci is permanently attached (although my son wound up not taking pacis, i left it on there, and he plays with it just the same). Also, I'm not sure if this is intentional but there is a small hole in the bottom side of the giraffe head. I stick my finger in and make a finger puppet of sorts... this gets quite a few giggles from my little guy.

I love the colors, size and fabric, but I do have an issue with the "pacifier strap". It is narrow and the itty bitty square of velcro on it does not stick together, so it is useless. I will just have to cut it off since I caught my 6 month old trying to swallow it. A slightly thicker strap with a snap or better velcro would have made this perfect.

Careplay Ride-On Play Critter

I got this toy for my 11 month old daugther to help improve her walking. She will not sit in her walker so I thought this would be more fun for her. She did learn fast how to push herself in it (it took her a few days) she likes to push it more than ride it, but it goes to fast for her to push it alone so I have to hold her hand. I looked for a lot of walking/riding toys and most seemed flimzy or not study enough, but this riding toy is pretty sturdy. It's kind of a low to the ground toy. My daugther just turned one and she's already getting too tall for it (her feet drag when she tries to push it, but she is a little taller than average).

We got this for our 15 month old son this past Christmas. I wanted a push/ride toy for him to have on our patio outside since we don't have a yard and we live in a small apartment. I wanted one that wouldn't get water inside all the parts and that would hold up to weather and abuse. This was perfect. It is well made with big wheels and a wide enough base that I have never had to worry about it toppling over on him. It requires no assembly, which is an added bonus. It doesn't have all the gizmos and features as a lot of other similar toys but that was actually part of the appeal to me. Overall, I am happy we went with this product.

I love this ride-on toy. I had been looking around in target, toys r us etc for a simple ride-on, but they all had really fancy expensive things. This one is great. Inexpensive, simple and very sturdy, and my 18 month old loves scooting around on it on the deck. It's only weakness is that it doesn't really steer, but she figured out pretty quickly to just get off and move it when she runs into something. It seems more or less unbreakable to me, and totally weatherproof. I definitely recommend it for entertaining active toddlers.

This is a very sturdy toy for a 1 year old who is not yet walking stably. It is made of very thick plastic and does not tip over like most plastic toys do. My daughter is able to sit in it and have her feet touch the floor and also push it as well. She actually likes to sit backwards, facing the higher end and it's still comfortable for her and she likes to push both ends and it works fine either way. We use this at a community center in our neighborhood and they only have quality toys there. I also see older kids (2-3) play with it, too. If I had a large backyard, I would totally get this! I highly recommend it.

My son's pre school has CarePlay riding toys and he loved them when he was 2-3. One day when his little sister, who was not quite one,was visiting school she fell in love with the purple puppy and wouldn't stop pushing it around. The school administrator saw how much fun she was having and let us take one home to use until I could buy one for her. We have now had the toy for a few months and she still plays with it every day. Oh my goodness! It's so hard to find something for my son that he can play with since he's only 3 months and it's hard for him to even hold things. He tends to be happier if he keeps his hands busy (characteristic of a Scorpio [late October to late November]), so up to now all I can find for him are skinny rattles. We bought him this about three weeks ago and I put it on his carseat and HE LOVES IT!!! I cannot give a rave enough review. When he wakes up, instead of crying he sits there and stares at it. He loves to hold the rings to give him something to do with his hands. He also has the option to shake it so he can hear the rattle, and he likes to grab his wings and make them crinkle. I LOVE THIS TOY, AND MY SON DOES, TOO! Imagine how much more he'll love it as he gets older and can grab all of the things hanging from Buzz's legs, and even carry it around!

I bought 4 Lamaze toys based on their 5 stars reviews, Buzz the Bug, Freddie the Firefly, Mortimer the Moose, and Jacques the Peacock. They are all beautiful and good quality and all have teething rings, squeakers, crinkles, and rattles. BUT to be honest Jacques the Peacock beats them all so easily, my baby only cares about jack. When she was born I show her the High contrast Black and White dots on jack's wings, and she was so mesmerized for several minutes.. While I agree that all Lamaze baby products are good and worth buying, but I think 1 or 2 is enough.

I got this for my baby when she was 6 months old because she seemed attracted to the vivid colors. There's so much for her to do with it! She's nearly 11 months now and the bug still gets a smile every time I shake it at her (it makes a pleasant rattle-y jingly noise). With a squeaker, crinkly wings, lots of shapes and colors, it has a lot of variety. The floppy legs are easy to hold and it's a real sturdy toy much chewing and tugging and tossing haven't affected it at all. It's even withstood some abuse from the 4 year old and looks just great!

Loved the toys. The dogs, goldens, love them also. I have had them for over a month now and the dogs have not destroyed them. They carry them around, chew on them. I would recommend them to large dog owners.

My dog is a determined chewer, and normally goes through stuffed toys in a matter of minutes, this toy has held up well! We also purchased the purple cow and green gator by the same manufacturer, the cow held up well too, the gator did not. I would highly recommend this toy.

THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE STURDIEST DOG TOY AROUND. THE EYES AND NOSE ARE SEWN IN NOT PLASTIC BUTTONS THAT GET CHEWED OUT IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. THIS THING IS MADE TO TAKE INCREDIBLE ABUSE! THE ONLY COMPLAINT I HAVE (AND HARDLY WORTH MENTIONING) IS THAT THE SQUEEKY THING IS HARD TO FIND BUT THAT'S BECAUSE THE HIPPO IS SO FAT. HEY! BUT HIPPOS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FAT, RIGHT? CARS: I am constantly searching for simple, safe, soft toys that don't require batteries for my now 6-month old son. I was really excited when I purchased these B. cars. My son really enjoys them They are beautiful cars! They are mainly soft plastic, colorful and do not require batteries. When you pull them back, they go forward. I also like the fact that all B. toys are BPA-, PVCand phthalate-free. NOTE: Two of the cars do have some hard plastic parts, and all four cars have hard wheels. So while they are softer than most cars, a baby cannot safely roll over them without any fear of injury.)

PRICE: I bought these same cars for $8.50 at Target, so I don't understand why Amazon is charging $21.99 for the same product (as of 9/23/2011).

My son got these cars for his first birthday and they are one of his favorite toys. We take them places quite often and they are always a hit with kids of all ages. Kids love to make them run off a coffee table, have races or crash them into each other. We have even tied balloons to them and had them tow the balloons around the house. Very fun, durable and the soft wheels won't scratch your coffee table. I highly recommend these cars!

It's great to have a non-battery operated toy in the house. Each toy either jingles or rattles. You pull it back and watch it go. My 8 month old loves it. She can pull it back herself. The company has great values too.

These cars are so cute. I had gotten them as a present for a friend and was excited to buy them for my own daughter. However I noticed when we got to the car that a couple of them were "chipped". I immediately went back in the store to exchange them, but when I inspected the other boxes of cars I found that you could just scratch off some of the plastic/paint from the toys. My daughter puts everything in her mouth so if I could easily scratch it off with my finger I can only imagine what she would get in her mouth. I'm sure they are great toys, but not worth the risk if your child puts toys in their mouth.

Sesame Fly with Elmo Ride-On

My son is 9 months old, and he is in love with his Fly With Elmo Ride On! He needs help to actually ride the toy since he is not quite big enough to get on it and push himself, but he scoots it and plays with it by himself all over the living room. It has lots of buttons to push, sounds and music, and the propeller lights up as it spins. The wings also have propellers that he can turn to make a ratcheting noise. Under the seat is a storage compartment that he loves to hide blocks and such in. Each side has a little window that he can open or close to reveal different characters. The Elmo on the front of it moves and talks. We have only had this toy for a few weeks, and I swear that the baby is going to wear out the batteries from playing with it constantly! As I have mentioned, he needs supervision with it. This is in part because of his small stature. The plastic wheels are slippery on our laminate flooring though, and the airplane has the potential to tip over if you have an especially rough child. As with any toy, supervision is recommended. My baby has enjoyed this toy, so its money well spent.

I bought this toy a couple of months ago for my 14 months old girl. She loves this plane. She opens the compartment and puts her toys there, pushes the plane on the floor. She doesn't ride it much though. It's very colorfull and entertaining. I gave it 4 stars because there is one problem with it: the sound of motor is so loud, you cannot hear Elmo at all! I wish the manufacturer adjusted it somehow. Overall, I am pleased with it.

I bought this item for Christmas for my nephew because I had not seen anything like it in stores. It was better than I thought! The front end of the toy really does whirl around and Elmo dances at the same time! The price was great also. Needless to say, this was by far my nephew's favorite Christmas toy. He wouldnt get off of it!!!!!!!!

This toy is as cute as they come. It has tons of "bells and whistles" lights and music. It took at little bit before our 20 month old would ride it, but watching it was really fun too. It wasn't long (the next day) before she was riding it and 6 weeks later, she's still loving it!

I got this for my son's 2nd birthday. He loves all things Elmo, and airplanes, so it was the perfect toy that combined both his loves. The toy itself is okay, but within the first day after opening his gift, the propeller stopped working. in fact, any moving parts stopped working altogether. Now he just rides around in it, and pushes buttons for sounds. The wings fold up, though, so it is more compact for storing. Also, he likes the underseat storage.

The reason I am giving it less than 3 stars is the fact that, as other reviewers have pointed out, it tips fairly easy. However, he is a bit older/bigger than the ideal for this toy, so he is able to prevent most of the falls. Though, he has fallen once or twice.

A bit overpriced for a ride-on that doesn't work properly, but he still likes it because it is Elmo, and it is an airplane. I am just disappointed in the poor construction and the even poorer design.
