This little set includes super sturdy instruments for five kids to form a marching band. My children (ages 3.5 and 1.5) and their friends love marching in a line, dancing and singing. Other sets at big name stores seemed very poorly manufactured and likely to be destroyed very easily, not to mention the safety hazard with the younger set. Hang the drum around you neck and find the beat, shake the shaker, clap the clapper, jingle the bells, rock the tambourine, play the ladybug xylophone and have a blast.

My 1 year old son just received this for his birthday & it's one of his favorite toys. He loves it & it's the first thing he goes to every morning. He takes the lid off & pulls all the instruments out to find what he wants to play with. Each instrument is child friendly & looks like a different bug. All the toys are easy for small children to grip. It includes a drum & drumsticks, tambourine, bells, maracas, and a xylophone type toy with a little stick that I think is a little dangerous for small children. My son uses the drumsticks on various surfaces & since they're plastic, they don't scratch the surface. I also wish that it included a pair of cymbals. Other than this, I think it's a great set & can be used for many years to come. It's a great value for the money. My 15 month old LOVES the Ant bells, bee-shaker & Drum features. He also uses it as a seat when the lid is on and enjoys fitting inside the drum when empty! It's been a little over 4 months now and he still runs to it! The drum sticks have little rubber bumbs on them for better infant grip. We implement the "drumming" on many different surfaces so he can hear the different sounds on different surfaces. The toys are easy to disinfect. We usually save this toy for a rainy day to "beat" the gloomy blahs!

I bought this toy set for my kids years ago and it's been so much fun! HOWEVER, the design issues surrounding the Bee Bop Band have plagued this toy and the companies who make it (Battat & Parents Magazine). First, the company was ordered to replace the drum sticks due to unsafe design (tendency to shatter at the tip). I was ok with that, because they were being responsible in getting the defective toys out of the hands of children.

However, I recently discovered that the ladybug xylophone that was in my set is No Longer Included in the current set. There's no mention of why or contact to parents to inform them to remove it from play due to its tendency to break into many small and sharp pieces. I had not realized that it was not in the current model until I called Battat to report a problem with the xylophone.

I knew there might be a problem since the number on the label no longer worked and I had to look them up on the internet. It foreshadowed the difficulty I would have in being able to talk to a human. After leaving several messages and some creative dialing (random number pushing in hope of connecting to anyone human in their mailbox system), I spoke with a man who assured me he would give a note personally to Carrie (the one I'd left many messages for. I received a call 48 hours later from Carrie informing me that the xylophone had not been included in the set for the last 3 years AND that Parents went out of business in 2010, so they don't have anyone to report this incident to. She said she'd inform the president of the company and his secretary. After that, it was out of her hands.

So, the xylophone was excluded from the set 3 years ago without telling anyone who already owns the set why, or warned to watch for certain vulnerabilities. That is wrong! And since one partnering company is 'out of business', the other acts incapacitated and washes their hands of it? No wonder there are so many lawyers. I'm just thankful that my baby didn't ingest or choke on it, that I was there to see it happen and protect my child. Buyer BEWARE! Not a good track record for this set! I hope and pray that the company acts responsibly about this hazard before a child is harmed. But since the xylophone was excluded a few years ago, I wouldn't be surprised if a child was already hurt and they kept it quiet after the drum stick fiasco that cost them dearly ($150,000 in fines and voluntary recall of 300,000 sets.

Looking into contacting the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission myself, like the other 25 people did to get Battat to recall the drumsticks the first time. Melissa & Doug Stop Sign (Vehicles) Jumbo Puzzle

I have purchased Melissa and Doug items for 5 years now. The puzzles that I purchased for my daughter 3 or 4 years ago were actually solid wood. I just went to the closet and looked at them and the backs of both the puzzles and the puzzle pieces are wood. I purchased this one and several others for my 1 year old son. Several layers of these puzzles are now mdf fiberboard including the back layer of both the puzzle and the individual puzzle pieces. Only the core appears to be wood. If a baby puts this in his or her mouth, as most 1 year olds do, the fiber will swell or deteriorate. You can no longer wipe the surface with a damp washcloth as you could with a wood puzzle or the puzzle piece will be damaged. I am very disappointed with Melissa and Doug. I wonder how many of their other products are no longer solid wood.

It's true that the Melissa and Doug toys have gone down in quality over the years. The wood puzzles are now pressed wood, the colors are no longer painted completely on the pieces (only the top of the puzzle piece is painted), and the colors chip off much easier. However, the puzzles are still great for the kids, and the toy is more durable than any of those silly cardboard puzzles on the market. Recommended.

Moby Clutching Toy

So my 11 month old daughter loves this toy and she has been playing with it for months. Today however I had a frightening experience. She was playing in her play yard and I started hearing a different sort of whining, whimpering than I ever had from her. When I went to see what was going on, she had the fish tail completely in her mouth and behind her teeth. She has four teeth on both the top and bottom, and she could not get it out of her mouth. Luckily she wasn't panicking and I was able to get it out, but she was definitely scared by the experience. I will still let her play with it, but only when I am right next to her. Although the tail is not of choking hazard size, it can get stuck in their mouth if they try hard enough. Just be careful if your baby likes to stuff things in their mouth as far as they can, which mine apparently does. I also took a couple of smaller stacking cups that have a rim around the top which I could imagine a similar thing happening with and put them in the "under supervision only" bag.

Lots of the Haba toys are smaller, and more teeth-able than this one. However, like all the Haba toys, well made, bright, fun. Would have gotten 5 stars if my daughter was older, but for very young ones, try the flatter toys instead

The reviewer who stated this is too large for infant hands is absolutely correct. Moby is colorful and makes a wonderful teething toy, but until my grandson was able to sit up on his own he was uninterested in Moby. Not because it was dull, but because the size was just too large for his little hands to clutch and he is a large baby with large hands!

However, once he was able to sit up on his own, the baby really enjoyed putting Moby's head or tail in his mouth and gumming on the particular end he had chosen. The non-toxic finish on the tail piece has dulled and lightened from his chewing; the adjacent blue ring has also lost the sheen it had when Moby was new. The head is dulling, but the eyes are still fine. The other drawback to this toy is that when a little one decides to shake it vigorously, there is the distinct possibility of clunking either himself or the adult playmate with Moby. Yes, it does "hurt" when you get bopped by Moby!

Moby is a fun toy; but, it would not be my first choice as a gift or personal purchase. Haba toys are well made and have multiple uses. Nevertheless, there may be choices for your little one, other than Moby, which will provide better sensory or play experiences.

This toy is so cute, I almost bought it for myself rather than my son. But it is a great toy for him as well. It is a little more challenging than some of his other toys. It teaches him how to grasp things with two hands and manipulate things into his mouth. He likes it most when he is getting a little tired and is sitting in my lap, needing something quiet to do. I also like that it's made of wood, not plastic, and is something we'll keep even after he outgrows it.

My son didn't get interested in this until he was about 4-5 months old. This toy is probably a little too much for younger babies.

I do agree with some of the other reviewers about it being a little too big for small babies..my son is 4mo and i don't believe he is quite ready for it. I got this for my 2 year old as a replacement for one she dropped on a walk and we couldn't find.

Why did I need to buy another one? It wasn't any specific strong attachment that she had to the toy but there's something about the way it can sit up and move around that makes it her go-to stuffed animal for playing/pretending. I don't really see much of a need in reviewing a beanie baby because everyone by now knows what they are but for playtime I think it's a great toy.

Fisher-Price Discover 'n Grow 2-in-1 Musical Mobile

This item is bulky. Its bigger than it needs to be. The wind up factor is a hassle. The music only last about 20 seconds. I kept having to go back and forth to keep winding up the mobile. Id rather it take batteries. As for it being "on the go" i give it an F. You need to pull up the animals to make them shorter or they will be right in the babies face. The animals do not stay pulled back, they kept falling and draged across my babies face. Poor little guy. I returned this item asap!

This is an absolute waste of money. It does say that it plays for 21/2 minutes but then to wind it up is very noisy and so distracts a baby who is being soothed. My son didn't like it anyway. Tiny Love is a better buy. Glad this was a gift and I didn't spend my money!

PROS

-Wind up music is more relaxing than recorded one (in my opinion)

-Assembly is easy (at least for me it is and I'm not an engineer)

-Bright colors, beautiful animals with plastic and plush textures caught immediatly my baby's attention. they seem friendly

-It takes along with the stroller which is a great thing, it is true the animals are near the baby's face but they don't hit my baby at all, in any case i wouldn't take it inside a car because with such movement they might. I use them inside the house when I'm at the computer I put my baby in the stroller and she keeps quiet with them

-Cheap but great materials. i don't agree with other customer who said the giraffe is "too bulky" . I think it is great and it stays in place. If it was lighter it wouldn't hold well the mobile and it would keep falling like other similar product i saw people wrote about in amazon

-Perfect fit on a Graco Pack 'N Play with Newborn Napper Station DLX, Jacqueline!! :) and the crib as well

CONS

-Music lasts about 2 minutes as much, so if the baby is bored enough she/he will cry when it stops and you will have to keep near him/her to put it up again and again

-It only plays one melody

All in all I would recommend this mobile as a standard , take-along one but suggest you should have another one with longer music, batteries for the crib.

Playskool Poppin' Park Pink Elephant Busy Ball Popper Toy

Our 11 month old daughter got this for Christmas. Three months later and she's still crazy for this thing. As she grows she plays with it differently. Right now she loves it when the balls hover over the nose because the can pick it up and stuff her hand down the trunk. Elephant cruelty to be sure. I appreciate the fact that the music is bearable and not the normal cheesy baby crud that makes me want to put my head through a wall.

I ordered this toy for my granddaughter for Christmas, she was almost 7 months old at the time, and she was mildly interested in it, she couldn't work the toy by herself, but liked watching it for a short time. She is now 9 months old and plays with it some, but gets bored with it after a minute or so. My older granddaughters had fun playing with it and showing her how it worked, they are ages 3 and 8, though. We'll see, as time goes on, if she plays with it more as I suspect she will. Seems to be a well made toy and is a little bit noisy, but not too bad.

I ordered this costume for my 4 year old, and it is great, but way too small for the labeled size. I ordered "Toddler" which is supposed to be 2-4 years. My 4 year old is small for his age, and fits a 3T perfectly, so I thought that would put him right in the middle of the sizing, but this costume was much too short in the torso (shoulders to crotch). Beware! Probably better for a 18 months 2 years old. The costume seems well made considering the price, and the print is fun and bright. Good enough for a Halloween costume, but might not last long with rough play at home, the fabric is a little thin. It has a jumpsuit with velcro strips up the back, and the feet are shoe covers with a small strap to go under the shoe. The head is separate, and is elasticated at the back to hold it snug, with a velcro fastener to go under the chin. The snout part is padded with soft filling, so it stays plump, but is not too heavy, so it doesn't fall down over his face. Then the hands are mittens. I think this is a great costume and good value for the price, just order a size up from the marked sizing.

Runs really small. We took it on a road trip and had to get another costume because it was too small. Our son is only 40.5 inches tall. The torso wayyyyy toooo small

We were very pleased with the quality of this costume. The material is very soft (like pajamas) and the pattern/style is just great. It may not be ultra durable, but it's just fine for a costume. I read the other reviews and purchased the 4T size for our 23 month old, 35" tall son. I'm glad we did because it fits just right if maybe a little long at the ankles, but putting on shoes solved that. Our son just loves being a "T. Rex" roaring and stomping around the living room. He is really excited to "have a tail" which he wags with enthusiasm and showed to everyone. We can't wait to take him out in it on Halloween! It will probably be a cool evening, so we are again glad we got the large size as it looks loose enough to accommodate a jacket underneath on his small frame. We looked into making a costume, but we couldn't even purchase just the material for the $15 this cost with Free shipping! My hostess used these at one of my baby showers. It was a very cute idea for an entrance/exit game or raffle prize, and everyone loves to play the lotto. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the silver covering you have to scrape off the card was really thick and sticky. You needed a coin versus just your fingernail and the left over silver residue got all over our hands and the table they were sitting on. Not a big deal if you plan ahead of time to do these on a disposable table cloth, etc. I just wouldn't hand them out for being to scrape off over their laps or clothes.

I hosted a baby shower for my sister and this was a big hit! Just remember to include the winning ticket if you use less than 12 tickets, or exclude duplicate winning tickets if you use more than 12.

Smart Trike Zoo 3 in 1 Kids Tricycle

I agree with the previous opinion that instructions are poorly done and it took me probably 30 min. to put it together, but there is a 3.5 min video on amazon check it out and you'll see it is not that hard.

When we go out my kid almost always chooses this bike over stroller or car (Step 2 Whisper Ride Buggy Blue) and it is my favorite as well. It is very easy for a parent to steer, removable safety harness makes it very comfortable and safe ride for a kid. Removable canopy is very handy especially in SoCal.

We purchased this bike well in advance for my kids first birthday and bike spent a few months in the box before I even attempted to put it together. I was very disappointed when I found that part of the canopy was damaged during shipping. I contacted Dana at Smart trikes and was pleasantly surprised because the only thing that she asked me was to email her picture of the broken part and shipping address replacement part was UPSed with no other questions asked. Smart trike comes with a great customer service when you need it.

My son is by no means large. He got this for Christmas 2010. He is now 19 months old, 30 lbs, and 34 inches tall. He's the size of a 2-3 year old and no longer fits in this trike. He actually stopped fitting in this trike about two months ago when he was 28-29 lbs and 32-33 inches. He could barely fit in the seat and the straps won't "click" once he's in the seat.

This is really too bad because it is really cute and he likes it; he just looks far too uncomfortable riding in it.

The issue is that his legs are too long. Imagine trying to ride a trike that is too small for your legs. His knees are far too bent making it very awkward.

This wouldn't be a problem if the main shaft of the trike actually allowed for the seat to slide back. If it does slide back, we couldn't figure out how to do it.

Speaking of assembly, the parent steering mechanism that attaches to the back never really worked for us. The fittings were way too tight for most of the assembly and we couldn't get the holes to line up so that we could put the pin in, no matter how hard we pushed and tried to tap it into place. Any one else have this problem?

Despite having this trike, we're looking into purchasing the Kettler and/or the Radio Flyer trikes as these are truly adjustable.

I brought this for my second son's 1st birthday. We have had it for a year now, as he is turning 2.

I am constantly having mom's inquire about the trike wherever we go, and I thought maybe I should post some of my comments where I brought it.

First off I should admit that my husband put the trike together so I can't comment on the difficulty. Took him 15min without difficulty, but he is an engineer and good at technical details. There was nothing broken or missing. The front pedals did spin when they were suppose to be disengaged, but that only lasted 3 days until it got worn in.

I saw a lot of bad/mixed reviews when I bought so I thought I'd comment on some of the things I'd seen posted.

1) I saw a lot of comments that it didn't steer straight. Ours worked prefect for 2 weeks then suddenly started veering all over the place and I thought oh no. I looked down and realized my 1 year old was trying to steer. There is no way to lock out your toddler from taking control, but I easily over power my little guy so it is never a problem. If you are having problems steering make sure the culprit is not your little angel :)

2) The sun shade is great, but not meant for strong winds. Also if it rubs against your child's blonde hair over the course of a long walk you may look down to discover your child has pink hair ( which luckily washed out). Easy to remove the shade.

3) the bucket on the back won't take a heavy load. I use to put my purse in the bucket but it has a tendency to dump the bucket and purse (i do have a heavy purse). Since it didn't carry my purse I figured I didn't need it right now and removed it. I'll put it back when we turn it into a dedicated trike.

4) The seat and seatbelt and surrounding safety bars still fit my 2 year old fine and there is still some growing room. Granted my child runs on the smaller side (26-27lbs). Most trikes don't have seat belts, so once he out grows them I'll stop using the belt. ( And one good thing about the safety bars only fitting small children is my 5 year can't steal his brothers trike, which thankfully saves me one sibling fight).

5) The toy phone got played with the first day and I don't think he ever touched it again. The cup holder at the front fits his sippy perfectly.

6) the saddle bag on the handle doesn't fit much. I like to carry a bottle of sunscreen in it for the days I forget the apply before leaving the house. Maybe an extra diaper, pack of wipes, bucket hat and some sunglasses.

7) My only real con about trike is pulling the trike backwards is a bit unstable. I use to pull my strollers through store doors backwards holding the door with my body. The first time I tried it with trike I nearly tipped it. Luckily the trike fits through doors going forward nicely so I haven't had any issues since.

8) both my kids refused to sit in a stroller from 11 months on. This is a great alternative. My son loves to ride in it. He tries to climb in without help.

9) one warning. Don't wear your Sunday best shoes or open toed sandals. My son likes to drag his feet on the ground despite having both the foot rest and foot pedals for options. It doesn't seem to be hurting his stride ride sneakers, but I could see some little kid somewhere scuffing up their nice shoes.

10) I love the grow-with-it factor. How much money have I spent on toys, clothes and baby gear that only lasted for 6months before the child grew out of it? It's wonderful to spend money on something that is going to be useable for years! A year of use, I've already gotten my money's worth, the next 2 years will just icing on the cake.

My 1 year old son loves riding in it, it has a great frog color. It didnt take much time to assemble. The sun shade is a bit low, so it's not very practical. Overall, i'm happy with it and so is my son.

Caterpillar Twist and Rattle

This will be a fun toy for my 8 month old niece but it is a bit smaller than what I envisioned from the picture...maybe 6" total. I'm sure it lists that in the specs & I overlooked it. Other than that, it's exactly what I was looking for.

My mother got this for my son when he was 3 months old...he has enjoyed it since then, but loves playing with it more each day. As he grows, he learns how to do more with it and has been great for motivating him to crawl if I set it just out of reach. He is now 7 months and started crawling. Can see him getting plenty use out of it still.

Bought this for my 2 year old as we had a 22hr plane journey to endure, and long story short, it kept him entertained on and off the plane. The buckles are good to attach to stroller or backpack easily too. Job done!

This toy has been the answer to our prayers for my nephew. He is 18 months old and has PDD, as well as a sensory perception disorder. One of his fixations is buckling everything he can get his hands on. He LOVES this toy and and now my sister wants to get the turtle one too. We're hoping it will serve as one of the toys he can use when he's outside and feeling overwhelmed by his environment, or needs to stay quiet, like in Church.

My 18 month old daughter isn't one who sits down and plays with very many toys. But this one is a different story! She got it in her Easter basket....so she's had it about a month and a half now. She loves it. She'll pick it up, climb into the recliner, and proceed to sit there until she fastens all the buckles. Then she brings it to me, I undo them, and she goes back to the recliner to do it again. Great toy for teaching motor skills!
