I was expecting a bit more from this toy but it was mistake on my part that I was mixing Elmo Live with the Elmo loves you. The toy is durable but the fibers or whatever is on the toy can come out easily and is not as durable as the rest of toy is.Great toy for babies under 18 months and they would learn to hug, say thank you etc.My 1yr old Daughter..LOVES ELMO..so I purchased this one because it seemed like a really cute idea and it will encourage my toddler to be affectionate..Problem is..Elmo Arrives my toddler sees Elmo..Elmo then doesn't work...Find my way around the screws and get elmo open to find a RUSTED compartment...YES RUST! somehow elmo got wet..or was sitting in some damp area..lucky for me new batterys did do the trick but I dont know how long he will hold up..I dont have the energy to send him back its the risk of buying online but just beware amazon doesn't always store their products safe places..

Sassy My Little Sunshine Mirror
AMAZON SHOULD NOT SELL THIS ITEM. EVEN SASSY does not list this toy on their website anymore. Amazon should be more responsible about safe toys.My son loves this little mirror. He enjoys when the cheeks light up and when he sees himself. He also loves to chew on the butterfly and ladybug. I checked on the sassy web site and I did find this product listed there. This is the perfect toy for distracting a fussy baby. The glowing cheeks do it all.

BeginAgain Farm Buddy Blocks
However, once you expect it to be small, you will see that it is perfect! My 2.5 yo still sits rear facing in her carseat and this is the perfect thing to hold in her lap while we drive. It is several puzzles in one for more fun. Or, as your child gets older and develops a sense of humor, she can give the cow a pig foot or some other combination.
My child rarely plays with this in the house. In fact, we usually leave it in the car, where she will play with it for our entire 20 minute drive to town and then pick it back up for the drive home. We've had it for a year and all the pieces still look great.I bought this as a gift for a 2 year old. It took the boy about 6 months to "get" it. Finally they sent me a photo of them at a restaurant playing with the blocks. The report was that he loves it! It is VERY small so it makes a great take along toy!

The blocks are smaller and the images not as vibrant as I expected. My two-year is not at all interested in these yet. I'll report back if/when she starts to play with these. This is a great toy! Eco friendly and gives kids healthy imaginative play. Also encourages fine motor skills for the younger ones. It is 6 puzzles in one and compacted nicely too. Great quality. I plan to purchase others like this.Thursday, May 22, 2014

These are great! My girls love them! The first set, one with animals, I purchased for my daughter when she turned one. She is now three, and still plays with them. She has a 9-month-old sister who likes playing with them also, so I decided to get more.
I haven't had any incidents with them choking on the wheels or hats, but had that concern when I decided to buy these. For that reason, I do keep a closer eye on them when they play with these.
Other reviewers have mentioned a rubber smell…. However, the one's I've purchased all smell like vanilla. I've always had a very strong sense of smell, so I'm usually pretty meticulous about the things I buy.
I would definitely recommend these, and will probably purchase more myself.

Edushape Mini Edu Train, Set of 30 is rated for 12+ months. My son is 19 months old. He popped off one of the wheels and put it in his mouth. It got lodged in the back of his mouth in his throat. My husband dug it out with his finger. My son then vomited. Both were shaken up pretty badly. I am returning this item. It should be rated for older children or should be made so the wheels cannot come off, or with larger wheels. The little caps for the people aren't much bigger. These blocks are great for my 13-month-old. She is teething and putting everything in her mouth. I don't have to worry about her hurting herself or anyone else. I also love that they can be stacked in different ways. Most blocks for babies can only be stacked up high.Sunday, May 11, 2014
Little Tikes Rocking Puppy
We bought my boy the Fisher Price Brilliant Basics horse for Christmas last year he was 13 months and he wanted NOTHING to do with it. And it was so tiny, I feared by the time he was into it, he'd be too bog for it. So we took it back. Then recently, maybe two months ago, a friend gave me her old Little Tikes horse... and my boy LOVES it now. (he is 21 1/2 months old)
I think that where these things say ages 1 and up, most kids aren't ready for them by age one. Well at any rate my guy certainly wasn't, and my friend says hers wasn't, either. Admittedly that's a small sample, but... I think it's something that bears considering. One year of age may be too young.
18 months and up might be more accurrate.
My guy will rock and rock on this thing... he's put it to the test, and there have been times I swear it would flip, but it never has.
When my friend comes over with he 4 1/2 year old, though he is big for it, he will still happily get on and ride this thing. So size-wise, I think this will provide you with a lot more use than the FP version.
Simple, all one piece, no batteries, no obnoxious noises, nothing to come off or lose. Very sturdy, very safe.
Overall, we like it a lot. :-)

I purchased this Big Blue Rocking Dog for my Grandson who is only 8 month old. What a smile on his face when the toy was opened!! He rides his dog everyday and enjoys it. This item can be used until he's 3 years old and is a wonderful present for any child who can crawl and begin to stand. I guarantee it will be a gift enjoyed for a long time!!My 13 month old ended up with two rocking horses and this puppy at Christmas due to lack of family communication. If she would have only recieved this one, I think it would be used more. One of her ponies sings while she rides it so of course that's her favorite. The only bad thing about this one is she learned almost right away that she can stand on the seat and rock it. It's really low to the ground. I can't leave it in her room unless I'm in there because I don't want her to climb on it and knock a tooth out! But, she does like it. When I bring it out, she keeps saying "puppy, puppy!" and climbs on by herself.I actually got this toy free at Toys R US when I purchased the Little Tikes basketball set. From the photo I thought this was a plastic nothing but my 18 month old little girl loves it! Easy to get on, off, sometimes rides it backwards but no biggie--we flip her around until she learns herself. Nice toy, nice price and would've paid for it if I had known she'd enjoy it this much! Hope this helps...Saturday, May 3, 2014

Skip Hop Treetop Friends Activity Gym
there are nice surprises in the mat-crinkly sounding leaves, a soft kind of velour-ish leaf, a flower that squeaks if you press on it, a mirror in the trunk of the tree (very nice for tummy time!)
the hanging toys seem pretty high quality, and are very cute! the owl makes a chiming noise and the apple is velvety to touch and has a mirror in it. my son also seems to like the pillow that comes with it, especially for tummy time.
the only thing i wish was different was the thickness-i would like a little more cushion in it.I picked this activity gym over the hundreds available on the market mainly because Amazon states under its material type as cotton. I really try to avoid purchasing baby products that are polyester. When I received it, it's 100% polyester, which is why I took two stars off. But I kept it because out of all the activity gyms out there, I think this is the one that is the least of an eyesore in my living room. My daughter absolutely loves laying on this and staring at the animals. She actually did her "tummy time" the longest she's ever done with this. It gives me 20 to 30 minutes a day to get things done and she even fell asleep on it once. Overall, I think when it comes to picking activity gyms, it's more the parent's preference than the baby's. Babies aren't too picky about how things are designed and can be amused by the simplest things. Parents like to "overstimulate" their babies with the toys that light up and play music and it's really not necessary to keep a baby happy.

I love this activity mat. It is so cute and modern. The baby loves it and it looks good in my house; it's not to crazy colored for my taste. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because you can't fold it up. I had the Fisher Price Jungle one and you could fold up the bars so it wasn't open, and easy to store. This one, if I have to put it away for any reason, I would have to take it apart. It is easy to do so, but kind of a pain in the butt.Read Best Reviews of Skip Hop Treetop Friends Activity Gym Here
I was dead set against a baby gym because I think most of them are ugly and I did not want one in my living room. People kept telling me this was a mistake, because babies love these things, and they are great for developing hand/eye coordination. I finally found this one and decided that it is the only one on the market that I think is cute! I put it on my baby registry and received it.When my son was about 3-4 weeks old he started having longer periods of time where he would be alert. I started out putting him on his play mat for about 10-20 minutes at a time, and now at 3.5 months he can seriously play for over an hour! He loves to grab at the dangling animals and I love that you can hook other toys onto the loops for variety. The little pillow is good for tummy time, but at 3.5 months it's not needed anymore. We have this set up in our living room 24/7 and I don't hate looking at it. In fact, I love that we have it because it keeps him so entertained.
It's a pricey mat, but well worth the money. I was lucky to receive it as a gift. Love the owl motif. Sometimes other people are right!Like everyone else, I bought this activity gym because it's the cutest one on the market. However, the mat is too thin to use directly on hardwood floors. My baby liked grabbing at the toys for short periods of time, but it didn't keep her entertained for more than 5-10 minutes. Once my baby outgrew the activity gym, I detached the toys to use in her playpen or as stroller toys. Today, she was sitting in her bumbo on the hardwood floor playing with the bird toy with the wooden ring. She was tapping it on the ground, not even with much force, and the wooden ring broke. Luckily, I saw this happen and could remove the broken pieces before she tried to put them in her mouth. I imagine this could potentially be dangerous and wanted to warn other parents. If you purchase this activity gym, I would strongly recommend removing and discarding the wooden ring or at the very least not detaching that toy from the overhead bar. I have read reviews about this happening with their stroller toys that have similar-looking wooden rings, so I would be careful with any of their products with these rings. I have posted a photo of the broken toy for your reference.

Little Tikes Fold Away Climber
1) easy to put together just follow directions (20-30 max time needed)
2) no big deal: there are no rails between ladder and slide. i positioned that side against one wall in my house and it serves as my additional wall.
3) slide is great! to me the picture of the slide looks like there is a stopper or lip at the end of the slide to stop a baby from flying off the end. There is no abrupt stop or lip. Smooth, safe and FUN ride all the way down.
4) My son (16mths) is so worn out he PASSED out tonight from playing so much today. All I can say is THANK YOU Little Tikes :-)
5) I live in a townhome so no yard and no storage inside. This toy is big enough to provide hours of entertainment. Versitile you can store it away in an instant. I bought this for inside play but this could easily go outside as well.
You cannot go wrong buying this toy from BabyAge. It's Versitile. Play soccer or basketball or slide. Stores Easily. Great Deal. Excellent Toy.
Only drawback I can find is the only ball it comes with is a basketball. It's as big as a Size 1 soccer ball. perfect size for baby.We got this for our 20 month old son for Christmas hoping it would provide some energy draining fun during the winter months, and we are so glad we did! He plays on it every day for a fairly good amount of time. He plays basketball, then climbs up and goes down the slide, the sends trucks and balls down the slide too. We were worried about the size of it and him outgrowing it too soon, since he's the size of the average 3 yr old, but it's perfect for him. I don't know about how easy it is to fold up since we've never had to do it, but it doesn't look that complicated. Since there is no railing on the back of the platform, we put a floor pillow on our wood floors behind it just in case he fell off, which he has, and he was fine. Overall, we are extremely happy we purchased this, and have recommended it to quite a few friends of ours.

What a terrific idea. Just enough activity for little attention spans. The fold-up feature is great. It's not too heavy for mom to move around.Want Little Tikes Fold Away Climber Discount?
My 18-month old loves this climber. We live in a small apartment. With this climber, my child can climb, slide and shoot hoops without using a lot of space or going outside in bad weather. There is a net under the basketball hoop that can be used for playing soccer. The height of the hoop is adjustable for a growing toddler. The negatives: The ladder to the slide is not user-friendly for my toddler. If I did not assist her w/ the ladder, she would fall or not be able to use the slide. There is nothing around the platform between the ladder and the slide to prevent a toddler from falling off. Hence, a child must be closely supervised at all times. Finally, the slide has a speed bump at the bottom, which can result in a rough end to the ride. However, the bump prevents my child from flying across the room when she gets to the bottom. Note that this toy can easily move on a wood floor.
Overall, the slide is fun, fun, fun. Toddlers like to climb, and this toy satisfies that need.

Taggies Oodles Owl Plush Rattle
has nice textures to it. My daughter (4 months old) loves to chew on it's ears and run her fingers over the ridges in the fabric.
It's not her favorite but maybe it'll grow on her as she gets older. I personally love it and am now considering an owl theme to

This toy is really cute! It hangs down about 12 inches from the hook to the bottom of the tail. My daughter is only 6 weeks old but she already loves it. She'll stare at it and even wave her arms around like she wants to touch it, so I'm sure she will appreciate it even more as she grows. The feet and wings are crinkly, the ball has little beads in it, and the tail has a little mirror attached. Love it, wouldn't change a thing about it.Read Best Reviews of Lamaze Early Development Toy, Dee Dee the Dragon Here
I got three of these and they arrived today. My friend and I took them out of the plastic, and fell in love with all of them straight off. These are all three gifts for my granddaughter and for a child who is like a great nephew to me. I am certain the children will love these. The baby boy is only going to be about 4 months old come Xmas and our granddaughter will be about 9 months. I just cannot imagine that these would not hold their attention so I'm doing the review now. The crinkle sound and the different textures plus the mirrors are just wonderful ideas. I do recommend this product and all of the others that they have in this line. As I find out more, like how the babies interact, I will update but, it holds the attention of one 47-year-old woman and a 62 year old as well, lol. Thanks!Want Lamaze Early Development Toy, Dee Dee the Dragon Discount?
My baby did not start grabbing toys early. We have been waiting while trying to teach him to reach out to a bunch of colorful toys. None of them had him interest enough to really reach out for. This pink little dragon was given at baby shower and it was the one that my baby like the most. He would stop crying when we shake it in front of him in the car. And guess what, it was the first toy he ever had enough interest to reach out and explore (4 months old). I was really glad. After that for days before he started grabbing on other toys solidly. I will buy another Lamaze soft toy today!Wednesday, January 22, 2014

Boon Odd Duck
She was an immediate hit: My daughter passed off all the old yellow ducks in favor of this brightly-colored, excitingly decorated alternative, and she's been carrying Jane around the house for days now. She's also been for a few swims in the bath without the leakage problem others have spoken of, so I guess we got lucky on that count. Jane measures about 4" long, has a weighted bottom so she will float nicely in water, and is even able upright herself if she is knocked over. Which is pretty cool; you'll never find her doing that dead-duck-on-her-side thing. She has a rigid non-pliable head and beak, and her body is somewhat squishy, though less so than a traditional PVC duck.
I noticed, on first opening the packaging Jane came in, an odd smell. Sort of like an uncapped Sharpie, and I immediately flipped her over to look for the recycling code. Nothing. No details on what plastic she's made of on the packaging either. Luckily the smell faded, and I who am extremely sensitive to smells can no longer detect it. Consider that I'm paranoid, so that's actually a point in this toy's favor.
I did, however, want to know what kind of plastic they made this toy out of since it is phthalate-free and PVC-free, so I asked.
Boon ducks are made of Styrene Ethylene Butadiene Styrene (SEBS), a subtype of synthetic rubber that was created by the Shell Oil Company in the 1960's and is marketed under the trade name Kraton-G (there's actually a Wikipedia article on this). It's used in everything from tires to medical devices and gloves, and of course increasingly in toys as a PVC alternative. Its main benefit, of course, being that it is pliable but does not require the use of the dangerous plasticizers that are used in the manufacture of soft PVC. It is known to have a strong odor, as I can attest, but Greenpeace in a 1996 article stated it was a viable and safer alternative to PVC. It does seem to be a safer alternative so far as we know at this time though I'm surprised how little real data exists on it, whereas you can find a wealth of information on many more commonly-used plastics. The Material Data Safety sheet documents this plastic as a low hazard in all areas.
While I don't think it's wise to trust a company (particularly one with China manufacturing Odd Ducks *are* made in China, like most things) just because they say that a product is minus known toxins (not all alternative plastics are created equal), in this case the alternative seems to be an improvement over the current standard.
The duck herself is sweet, and I'm glad to have a potentially less toxic option available, as bath duckies seem like one of those 'must-have' toys for little kids. I can certainly see collecting the others in the future, and would based on all current information available recommend these ducks to anyone wanting a safer bath toy for their children.
**UPDATE**:
We now own all the ducks (my youngest has taken a particular liking to them), and so I thought it would be worthwhile to comment on a few things.
1. The best floaters are Jane (pink) and Slim (blue). These ducks will always right themselves if tipped, and thus never float on their backs. Bob(orange) tends to float with his bill in the air, at a slight backward angle, and Squish (yellow) floats with his bill toward the water, at a slight forward angle. Both Bob and Squish can be upended, but Bob will most often right himself. With Squish it takes a bit more activity to upend him, but once he tips over, he's a back-floater.
2. The first Bob we ordered had completely separated from the weighted disk on his base during shipping. I'm confused, however, as to how some people's ducks filled with water underneath, as Bob's underside is still sealed. Nonetheless, Bob only floats on his back when he is minus-the-disk, so we wrote Boon and sent them a photo of our defective Bob (after all, my three-year old had actually done chores to earn money for Bob, and he's not cheap for a little duck). Boon's response was prompt, friendly, apologetic -and three days later a new duck arrived on our doorstep. So anyone who hesitates on the premise they might get a faulty duck? Fear not. Document it, and send it to Boon. This is one company who will stand by their products -and that is worth the extra money. Unlike a company(ex. Schylling) who I emailed about a defective product two months ago and *never* received a response from.Bob has been a great tub toy for my soon-to-be 10 month-old. He "paddles" very smoothly and swiftly in the water, is fun to watch while twirling with the funky orange lines, and my son loves holding him down in the water and watching him pop up to the surface. Bob also gets chewed on quite a bit since my son's teething, so I like the fact that he's free of BPA, phthalates, PVC. We haven't had any issues with smell, or water getting in Bob. Definitely a good buy, and we'll be adding another Odd Duck to the menagerie of bath toys at birthday time!Though cute, this duck had a strong, persistant smell to it and immediately filled with water that we could not get out yucky ducky!

I bought this duck, because I wanted something non toxic for my child. We have the yellow one. The looks are good, however the bottom is not a solid surface; the center part is not glued suficiently on the sides, alowing water in. Before using it I put some silicone in the crack to seal it, so will see, how it will work for us. The duck doesn't float straight. The head is half sank in water very poor design.I was looking forward to the Boon Odd Duck, but now realize it's packaging has to improve. While it uses a clamshell design, the bottom of the duck was exposed to the elements. Mine arrived dirtied, damaged & the bottom orange circular plastic was about to fall off. My kid's prying fingers would have just finished the job and pulled that part off the main body of the duck with ease. Why they designed it in this way for a rubber toy is beyond me. Plus the orange circular plastic was just held together with what appears to be glue.Furthermore the duck appeared discolored & 'used'. I am very disappointed with this product.

Chicco Walker
I think we ejoy watching him in it more than him. I love the brake pads feature which prevent the walker from going over any changes in flooring, like stairs or a door jam. I actually took them off, as our house is only one story, and I am always near to him while he is in it.
THe little piano tray is excellent, and has such a variety of sounds and songs that he can make. THey are not too annoying or shrill sounding, either, like so many childrens toys.
It was not too hard to put together, although i did need to follow the manual pretty closely, as I could not figure out the pieces on my own. I think it probably took about 20 minutes to get all set up.
I like that the music tray is removeable, so it can become a tray for little toys or even snacks later on.
I wold highly recommend this toy, as my son seems to like it very muchI bought this walker for my son when he was 6 months old. At the time he weighed 23 pounds. I was so excited to get him standing as he is one independent little man. When the walker showed up we assembled it but I immediately noticed the seat appeared a bit small. I set him in there with high hopes that he would fit. Sadly he did not. His chubby little legs barley fit through the holes. I left him in there for just a few minutes to see if maybe the material would stretch but my son just wanted out. When I took him out he had dark red marks on his thighs. I tried to make the leg holes bigger by cutting the sides of the material and adding elastic but that didn't help as the rest of the seat is all small. Since Iv'e altered the seat I cant return it. So parents who have bigger chubby babies. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!Although he liked it at first, my 7-month old son cries when I put him in this. I can see why...the position of the seat is such that his stomach is holding all his weight. It's hard to explain, but the seat goes really far forward. Another reviewer commented on this as well. Also, the rear wheels are fixed, meaning he can't get himself out of corners at all. So I put him on a straightaway portion of our floor. He cruises to the other side, bumps into something, I have to go turn him around. It is a very parent-involved activity, which is not he reason I bought it. The music is loud and not very pleasant. I would return it if I had the patience to disassemble and ship back. Also, I'm not sure if other walkers are any better.
UPDATE: I like this a little better now, but not enough to change my rating. My son no longer protests when I put him in it (at 9.5 mos), and is getting slightly more skilled at getting himself out of corners. And it occurred to me that maybe it has to be designed so the child leans forward at least a little to be able to get traction enough to walk (but I still think the seat angle is excessive).I bought this item for my grand baby. It has worked great. Makes all kinds of sounds and has a couple of different beeps. The seat adjusts to several heights. This walker has automatic brake that stops it from moving forward when the front wheel goes over a lip like the driveway.I ordered this when our son was 5 months old and he immediately loved it. He is now 7 months old and still as interested as ever. He can back up and maneuver all over the place where there is hard floors. He really enjoys the independence. The toy tray comes out for cleaning, and the sounds aren't overly obnoxious. For us, it was worth every penny.

Wooden Pull Handlt Toy Spinning Top Game Antique Vintage Wood Reproduction
They were able to work it after only a few tries.
Pros Durable,
All parts large enough to not be choking hazard,
Reasonably easy to operate,
No batteries required,
Not noisy.
It works on Any floor or sidewalk.
Nice toy for Adults to share turns with child.
Cons slightly difficult reinserting the end of the pull string into hole in the shaft of the spinning part.
Not a "one-piece" toy. Need to keep all 3 pieces together. Unless you just spin the top by twisting it between finger and thumb.

Sassy Earth Brights Wooden Happy Caterpillar Toy
I have contacted Sassy about this and I'm hoping that they will resolve the situation. My four month-old loves this caterpillar! The combination of different fabrics and wood makes it a tactile delight. It must also be pretty tasty! I love that is mostly made of natural materials. The head squeaks and the "tail" make crinkly plastic bag noises when touched. All parts are securely attatched. To clean I wash it in the sink with a little dishsoap and warm water. I rinse it well and hang it over a chair to dry overnight. We own several other toys in this collection and I really like them all and my son is starting to know that he can explore more!

love, love, love it! and so does my 2 year old daughter :-) It is completely organic and so it meets all my standards on what I would allow (when I can with in reason) my children to come in contact with. It's organic AND adorable! This does not happen very often. I shopped for a while before I found something that was sweet and charming that was organic. There are so many things out there that are organic but (in my opinion) was designed by someone with no taste or imagination. So this was a real treat and hope more companys will get with it and make organic that is also desirable in the way the product looks and relates to children and mommys as well.My daughter likes to play rock a by baby with this doll and it's super cute. I am going off of her rating and if she plays with something more than once she likes it :)This is a nice quality doll, even though it is made in China. It was much smaller than I imagined (my fault), but just wanted to point it out to potential purchasers!!
