My grandson loved this as his 1st birthday gift he plays with it everyday. Loves books and music dances all the time! This is a wonderful book for toddlers a must buy!

These books are a very fun way to help encourage a love of books.

Based on experiences with our kids, some babies and toddlers seem most tuned in to auditory learning and others prefer books like Bright Baby Touch & Feel Slipcase: On the Farm, Baby Animals, At the Zoo and Perfect Pets (Bright Baby Touch and Feel). Others like all sorts of books, from noisy to quiet.

The Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn has an deal combination of sound, learning activities, and pictures. It also has the advantage of being easy to keep clean, with most parts simply being easily wiped off.

It is also sturdy, survives being dropped (we already had that happen) and the pages can't be chewed through.

More detail about what's inside:

Each page starts with a recorded voice reading the words on the page. There is also a wheel on the side of the page which can be turned to hear music. The music changes for each page. There are also questions. One example: "Can you find the duck?" Colors are bright and the drawings are cheery...a turtle, a monkey, a house, and more. All pictures are large enough to be easily identified. Every creature, even a butterfly, is shown with a smiling face.

There are a limited number of questions and music for each page and this means the book may quickly seem repetitive for parents. But babies and toddlers often find comfort in familiarity as the classic Goodnight Moon indicates.

IF you are driven crazy by the noise on a day when your nerves are short, simply turn off the power button and read this book aloud or let your baby or toddler turn the pages and look at the pictures. It is also easy to jot down the basic sentences from the book or improvise to keep little ones entertained during read aloud time. Toddlers may indicate they want the power button on, though, while others are quick to let parents know they prefer a quiet session.

I've found the limited number of activities and sounds in the books are enough to sustain interest but don't overwhelm young ones. Books which have too many options can be confusing. The Laugh and Learn has exactly the right number, at least based on my experience.

I particularly like the fact that there is an off/on switch which has two volume levels. And of course once the power is turned off, parents, grandparents, etc.. can simply read the book aloud without the accompanying music and sounds. This is a super option, perhaps just before bedtime. Leaving the sound off allows the book to be taken along for a plane or car ride without annoying other passengers. When it comes to travel, this is easily transported and a super item to take along for grandparents who may be babysitting.

A better option for the youngest ones may be Look, Look! [Board book] . There is something about the black and white images and the high contrast that fascinates babies.

Once babies turn into toddlers, they often are proud to have their own book to read or just listen to while older siblings do homework or parents browse through a magazine. This adds to the usefulness of the Laugh and Learn. We always praised our kids for whatever reading efforts they made and asked them to "read" their books to us. Although toddlers tend to have short attention spans, these books held their attention for an amazingly long time.

Babies won't have the motor coordination to turn the pages but it won't take long for them to become old enough to handle those pages. Thank goodness, they are thick and easy for little hands to grasp. There aren't many pages but each one has several options.

Considering the fact that the Laugh and Learn can be enjoyed from 8 months to 3 years, I think it is a good value for the money. I did give it only 4 stars for educational value but I'm on the fence about that. T are relatively few animals and objects to identify in each book. On the other hand, the music itself and learning to turn the pages and practice pre-reading is certainly educational.

If there were an option for 4 and 1/2 stars, I'd pick that one.

It is sturdy, colorful and entertaining, as I have come to expect from Fisher Price. This book would make a great gift for any young child being introduced to books. K's Kids Hungry Pelican in Bath

This is a really cute bath toy which my 1 1/2 year old daughter loves. However, I'm not as crazy about it as she is. It is much smaller than it looks. The little sea creatures are about an inch long, and my daughter thinks it's so funny to "eat" them, just like the pelican does. They fit entirely in her mouth which is scary. The pelican fills with water in every crack and crevace, and takes forever to drain out. All the water in it makes it really heavy. Too heavy for her to handle. Also, the "rear" of the bird has a hole that lets the sea creatures fall out as soon as she (finally) gets them in the mouth. Very discouraging. I have taken the pelican out of the tub and put it away since she doesn't even play with it. I have to watch her like a hawk with the little critters. There is a K's Kids Pelican that is not a bath toy that is the same thing only LARGER and plush. I have this and I think it is a much better toy, and is almost the exact same thing. Get the plush one.

My 8mo old son absolutely loves this toy! He got it for Christmas when he was 6mo and always wants to play with it over his other bath toys. The only problem is it's way too heavy for him to hold still. He likes chewing/kissing the pelican mouth and the little toy fish/crab/shrimp/octupus are perfect for his teeny hands. When we squeeze the handle, the birds mouth closes instead of opens, and when we let go of the button the mouth just half hangs open. so in order for the pelican to fit any of the little guys in his mouth, we basically have to trap them against the edge of the tub with his mouth and shove them in. They also fall out the bottom the very second they are eaten. My kids don't play with this at all, once they discovered the pelicans mouth doesnt open enough to easily eat the toys. I love the colors and think it looks very cute, but it's useless.

Rubie's Costume Deluxe Baby Bunting

This costume didn't fit my 3 month old baby very well at all. The fabric is thin and unflattering. The head piece was huge for a 3 month old, even though it states that it will fit 1-9 month olds. The picture is much cuter than the product.

So cute....the packaging says that it's a guppy but really a clownfish (or Nemo). A little difficult to get on but it is so adorable.

His legs kept coming out because there was only a small velcro closure at the rear end of the costume (for easy diaper changes). I bought this for my 6 month old for Halloween. Since the size was 0-9 months, I thought we were in the clear. Wrong. The body of it was too short. My son's legs wouldn't even fit in it, and he is in the 50th percentile (not an unusually tall baby). The hat was WAY too big and kept turning around so he couldn't see, and the eyes of the fish were in a weird position. Instead of a clownfish, he looked more like a tadpole. And the arms were way too long. I had to constantly push the sleeves back so he could get to his hands. I don't think my child has an odd shape, so I have to assume this costume was the problem! He looked very awkward in this costume. I wouldn't recommend it.

My 15-month old enjoys playing with this. She mainly wants to hear the alphabet song and doesn't press the individual letter/color buttons very often. It's small enough for my child to carry easily, and the wheels roll well even on carpet. I wish it had more letters than A-D, but as my child gets older we will find other ways to encorporate learning the alphabet. Also, if you press the same button multiple times, it says something different. I.e. if you press the yellow button once, it will say the letter, but the second time you press it it will say 'yellow.'

My kid doesn't really like to push it around she just liked the buttons and would bop around to the alphabet song. I don't find it annoying at all. When she could walk I tied a ribbon around it to make it a pull along toy and now she likes that it has wheels. This isn't a toy she plays with EVERY day but she likes it well enough that I'm glad we bought it for her. I know there is a similar toy that is a turtle and I thought it was cuter but the reviews said the song was obnoxious and would last forever. I picked this one from the reviews and I'm glad I did. I think it's cuter that the picture shows and I like the song on it.

My daughter played with this toy for 10 minutes when she first got it at 6 months old. Never gave it the time of day after that. I would however attribute that to her huge collection of light up toy that sing. This one is just the most boring out of the bunch. I believe that if she had half the amount of toys she may have wanted to play with it. Now 8.5 months old she looks at it, grabs it, puts it in her mouth, then drops it and turns the other way. I thought it was $10 gift when I received it. I can't believe they want more than double that retail. Not worth it and did not get my daughters attention.

My daughter received both this and the turtle exactly like this as gifts at approx 14 months of age. She likes to push cars so we thought she would love these. Initially she liked these but now they are boring to her. The buttons don't really do much and the same song plays over and over again. She has toys that do a lot more/play a wider variety of melodies, (which are actually less expensive) that have kept her attention. Both the turtle and the snail have been dropped and thrown and are still in great condition so I feel they are pretty durable.

I have been looking for good quality metal insets, but they are very cost prohibitive. I love this option for a fraction of the price of the metal ones. I actually watched the lectures given by Montessorian Margaret Homfray who said she preferred plastic insets to metal, which made me feel confident with this purchase. I received the pink and blue set (didn't have to make a special request) which I wanted and are the traditional inset colors. The only reason I didn't give these 5 stars is because they don't come with a tray which would be ideal for display, and because the knobs to pull the shape out could be better and easier to grasp. Otherwise, well worth the money!

My children attend a Montessori school and this is one of their favorite lessons. Helped my daughter with handwriting and she gave my younger son lessons on how to use correctly. Learning can be fun.

Bright Starts Tug Tunes - Bug

My 7 month old absolutely loved the purple elephant tug toy. It was her favorite toy. Until today when she had one of the little dangling feet in her mouth and somehow inhaled it. The string to the foot is long enough that the ball of the foot was way in the back of her throat. SCARY. Thank God my husband was there. I almost threw the whole thing away but I know how much she loves it so I just cut off all the legs.

The music in the Bright Starts Tug Toys (both the pig and bee) is great! Not annoying at all; actually pleasant to hear from the back seat of the car when my little girl pulls on the handle while in her car seat. However, I've gone through 4 of these toys in the past 7 months! The batteries die soooooo quickly! I wrote the company and asked them to either make the batteries last longer or make it so the batteries can be changed. I even had my husband dissect one to see if it was easy to change the batteries, and it's not. I'm debating on whether to buy a 5th Tug Toy for my daughter....she just likes it so much. It's such a shame when a nice toy can't last more than a couple of months due to batteries!

The hind legs pop off very easily. My 9 month old daughter just reached up and popped one off, then happily popped the foot into her mouth. She was in her carseat, playing quietly, and if she had choked, I might never have known. We got home and I had to fish it out of her mouth.

When I complained to the company (Kids II/Bright Starts), they sent me TWO replacements I did not want or ask for. I tugged the hind legs on both of them, and yet another one popped off with a little effort; certainly less effort than an ever-stronger infant could exert. The other one seemed pretty solid, and the legs stayed intact even with stronger pulling. Seems random.

I snipped the legs off of all of them. BE CAREFUL.

All the music starts to die right around 3 months of use, but that's at least somewhat expected. I'd happily buy another if that was the only problem.

This was one of our daughter's favorite toys! However, we went through 3 of them in 6 months because of the poor battery life and non-replaceable battery. Disappointed the battery pack isn't replaceable.

My only issue with this toy is that once the batteries die you have to buy a new one.

There is no way to replace the batteries and they aren't exactly cheap.

Wonderworld Froggy Drum

Got this for my 10 month old, who loves it. She's not exactly playing music, but she loves that she can hit the drum with the stick and make different noises. Her face lights up with manic glee when she plays drums. We have not had this long enough to know if it will hold her interest for months to come, but I'm hopeful. Generally, this kind of simple toy keeps baby interested better than the light-up toys that play sounds. (And I feel a lot less compelled to kick the simple toys across the room for the crime of singing the damned "¡Hola!" jingle for the umpteenth time.)

This doesn't sound much like a frog to me, but the four different tones are all very pleasant and musical. Baby has played with the solid drum from Plan Toys at play group. It is a good toy, but I find the sound of this drum more appealing.

All six sides of the drum are wood and surprisingly thick I'd say almost 1/2" but it's light enough for our 16 pounder to flip over to inspect the bottom (something she seems keen on doing). It seems to be real quality construction. You can barely see the joins. The froggy design is painted on three sides of the drum. It's unisex and very fun and cute. There are four rubber feet on the bottom that probably won't scratch your tables. The drum has so far survived being smashed repeatedly with wood blocks. Meanwhile the rubber-tipped mallet has been used now to hit most of the furniture and the cat. The cat was unhappy, but the end tables weren't damaged at all.

UPDATE: Baby LOVES the frog faces on the sides of the drum. She points and laughs and "talks" to them. It's very cute.

My one year old got this as a birthday gift and we all loved it, it's very cute. However, after only one week I found him playing with the broken mallet, which had split lengthwise. Don't know where to return it to, but really disappointed that this should happen to a toy recommended for young ones.

Winfun Grow With Me Musical Walker

after reviewing like 100 walkers, I finally decided on this one. It was a great choice. My daughter loves it. It has a bunch of detachable things and is sturdy enough that it does not tip over when she uses it to pull herself up onto it. The wheels lock so if she wants to face it and play it wont slide away from her. It's a reasonable price also! I highly recommend it.

My little girl loves this toy! We had wood floor and it would fly out from under her, so we had to leave it against the couch. She would still crawl over to it and play with it. We recently got carpet and it rolls perfectly on it! It no longer flys away with her! This was a great purchase!

I bought this for my 9 month old son who is just starting to walk. I was very happy with this product. The wheels can go a little fast (even on carpet), but if you're there to help slow it down it's not a problem. I think if they made this a little heavier it would help it go a little slower. But I'm sure once he gets more confident walking he'll be able to keep up better. I checked out a lot of other walkers, and I have to say I'm so happy I went with this one. There are so many toys and knobs on this one that my lil guy never gets bored. And when I put the brakes on he can play with it forever without running out of something new to play with. Overall this one is just a great value. The cell phone and piano are detachable making it three toys in one. We detach the piano part when my son isn't using the walker and he plays with it all the time. I figure if we were to buy a separate piano toy it would cost at LEAST $15, with the walker being as cheap as it is it's a great buy. My only complaint on this would be that the cell phone is actually just a squeaky toy and isn't electronic. I would rather it make little cell phone sounds or something. But I'm just being picky. Love this toy and would definitely buy it again. :)

Great toy for those babies who havent mastered walking yet but are working at it. My daughter will sit in front of it and play and sometimes kneel or stand to play with the toys higher up and on the sides. It is, however, not at sturdy as i hoped it would be. When she stands and leans on it it rocks so i have it propped against a wall. As far a actually using it for a walker it could also stand to be more sturdy. I wouldn't feel comfortable letting her practice walking with it with being right with her holding the thing down. Oh and the wheels still move on carpet with them locked so be careful. We only use it locked because otherwise it moved to fast. Overall its good but not as good as it could be

I got this for my 7 month old son and he loves it. He is still a little unsteady when walking and standing, so we sit or kneel behind him holding the walker in front. He loves playing with the toys on it, when we put him on his play mat, he goes directly to it! I love that two of the toys are removable and the walker has brakes on the two front wheels (wish it was all four wheels). I would recommend this to everyone with a child learning to walk.

Earlyears Baby Farm Friends Bowling

This is a nice little set of plush animal bowling pins and a soft ball with which to knock them down. We purchased it when our youngest child was an infant (he's now 16 months) and his brother was a toddler set on throwing everything he could get his hands on. The soft aspect of the toys drew us to them, as did the different sounds, which would appeal to the baby. As it turns out, neither of them have ever really used it for the intended purpose the older child (now 2.5 years) prefers body bowling over using the ball! He sets up some of the pins and then jumps off of the couch into the middle of them. I have only two complaints about the toys. First of all, they attract animal hair and other floor muck very easily and are difficult to clean. We have two dogs, and the pins often seem to have more dog hair on them than the dogs! Secondly, they can be hard for the kids to stand up on the carpet. After a few tries on his own, the 2 year old gets frustrated and walks away or, if he's in a bad mood, starts tossing them all over the living room. Ultimately, this is probably a set better suited to a pet-free household or a no/low pile carpet floor.

I hate to be the bad apple, but these pins were more frustrating for my 20-month-old than fun. It is very difficult to get the pins to stand up...even for an adult. And, if you have a pet, pet hair really sticks to the fabric they're made of.

I bought this for my second grandson's 1st birthday. The whole family loves it. (even the adults) The ball makes noise and the pins are soft enough that even if a pin battle breaks out it doesn't hurt.

My 19 month-old son got this as a gift from his great-grandmother. In the three weeks since it arrived at the house, he has been walking around with one or more of the pins under his arm. He takes them to bed with him and I can hear him over the monitor making kissing noises with them. Suffice it to say, he LOVES it. My 5 month-old is starting to love it as well (especially the cow). I would recommend it for any baby or toddler, especially an affectionate one.

My baby clearly isn't bowling yet, but is having a great time knocking these down with her hands and shaking them to hear the different sounds. If we set them up on the sofa across the room she will cruise/crawl to them in order to know them over and pick them up and shake them. The ball is a good size for her hands, and also makes noise. I suppose when she's older we'll eventually get to the bowling aspect.

Cute little dog. Don't need to potty train it. It is a nice and well constructed dog. He would be a nice gift fo a kid who loves dogs. He has a nice black and white checkered ribbon tied in a bow around it's neck. He is made of a soft black fabric. He is also the right size for little hands.

Sevi Pull Along Toy

SO...this toy is beautifully made. It's close to heirloom quality. However, my 16-month old son doesn't play with it all that much. To be fair, he doesn't play with many pull toys yet, so maybe he'll grow into this? I find it such a challenge to predict what my son will like or dislike. If your child likes pull toys, this is lovely, and adorable. It would make a great gift.

The toy arrived with scratch marks all over....The box did not look like an original Sevi, Knock off? I guess you get what you paid for.....very disappointing :(

This is a darling product. My son thought it was great too--until the cowboy's head came off. When this happened, the string that makes the cowboy gallop on the horse disappeared and the toy was useless. It was a sad, sad Christmas present.

LEGO DUPLO 6760 Let's Go Vroom

My 3 year old received this Lego Duplo "Let's Go! Vroom!" set for her birthday (Lego Duplo 6760). She had already been playing with Lego Duplo pieces for some time, so it was not difficult for her to figure out how to build the vehicles. Initially she loved that there was a story book with this set, unlike her other Duplo sets.

The 10-page board book features a simple story involving an airplane and a car. It doesn't have detailed instructions for building since there are only a few pieces, but it does show pictures of how the airplane and car should be assembled. The pieces in the book are to-scale (actual size), so it may be easier for little kids to understand how the pieces fit together.

This is one of three available sets in the Bricks & Books collection as of this review (November, 2012). The other two sets are "Busy Farm" (LEGO DUPLO 6759 Busy Farm) with 15 pieces and "Grow Caterpillar Grow!" (LEGO DUPLO 6758 Grow Caterpillar Grow) with 17 pieces. "Let's Go! Vroom!" has only 12 pieces, but it has a car which is a pretty cool piece.

The quality is great, as you would expect from Lego. A retail price of $12.99 is a bit high for 12 pieces, but part of that price is for the book. If you prefer bricks, then there are other sets (without the book) that are a better value. If you are interested in the book, this is a very cute set.

Now that my preschooler has played with it a few times, I think the novelty has worn off. As expected, the pieces to this set have now been comingled with her other Duplo pieces and the book sits on her bookshelf. Still, it's a cute set that should entertain your child for some time. It was a very nice gift to receive, and I would consider buying it as a gift for another 2-3 year old.

This was very fun for my 3 year old the first couple times we did it, but after that, he was tired of the story, and enjoyed just playing with the blocks by themselves.
