Wood Slide Whistle

This whistle is good for little kids who just want to make noise. I bought it for my 3 1/2 year old after watching the SpongeBob Slidewhistle episode and it didn't match up to his expectations. He wanted to be able to make the subtle transitions from high to low, and back again. This whistle just kind of makes noise that kind of reminds the listener of a slidwhistle. Pros: It seems almost unbreakable and it's big. It's perfect for little kids. Cons: You can't really get the true slidwhistle sound out it.

When my kids asked for a "slide whistle", I had no idea what it was. Luckily, Santa knew what one was and pointed me to the internet... As it turns out, the sudden desire for a slide whistle stems from a SpongeBob episode... So with that in mind, I was none too thrilled to have to track it down for Christmas! I did, though, and tucked it into the kid's stockings. Imagine my surprise when the kids have spent about 5.5 hours so far running around the house playing with their little slide whistle! First of all, it is not the loud, shrill sound of a typical whistle (think sports games -NOT like that). It has a nice, harmonious sound. While the kids can make a loud blow into it and thus increase the volume, that seems to take a lot of effort and does not happen too often. I am pleasantly surprised how, in this high-tech era, the kids have gotten so much enjoyment out of a non-electronic device! Thank you SpongeBob for the slide whistle idea!

This is an excellent beginner musical instrument. I recently purchased it for my one year old baby. I wasn't sure if she'd know what to do with it, but to my surprise she started whistling with it after a few tries. She also pulls the slide back and forth (which makes its own sound, even without air being blown through). I'm sure at some point she'll figure out to combine the two. For now, she's really enjoying hearing the sounds come out. No complaints at all.

This slide whistle is all wood, solid construction and safe. (Except for you ears. (ha ha) My grandson loves this instrument and marches around the house playing it. I would recommend this to anyone with children.

I use this activity gym/mat quite a bit and it is great. My baby girl loves trying to grab for the objects and staring at herself in the mirror. It has handled great with being twisted up and down and being put up and down a lot. It still locks great after daily use.

If you are looking for a cheaper activity gym that folds up, this will work. It's nothing fancy. The one reason we bought it was because it folds up. However, during the folding process we bent one of the bars which makes the whole activity gym lopsided now. Cant bend it back so it is what it is. Overall it is just ok.

Wonderworld Duck Family Wooden Pull-Along Toy

So so cute. Mama duck being followed by baby ducks. Who doesn't want to watch their toddler dragging this thing around behind them?

Unfortunately, although this toy is adorable to see, its engineering isn't quite right. It is almost impossible to pull it around without the rear ducklings flipping over, and it is oddly difficult to right them. It's even hard for us adults in this household to play with this toy without capsizing (we use it on carpet, but it's firm non-bumpy carpet so it should work fine. All our other pull-toys are fine). I am hopeful that when the boy gets a little older, he'll be able to get some use out of this up on the hardwood, where it'll be less likely to fail. But for now when he's mostly playing on the carpet, it's pretty much a fail.

Also, ours was sloppily produced, with stray strands of dried glue all over the place. Boo.

I am very happy with this toy and my 15 months daughter likes it very much.

I purchased this for my son for Halloween. He loved it, but there were a few "structural" issues. I had to remove the headband from the hood and tie it around my son's head. It was partially sewn on in an awkward area which wouldn't fit anyone's head. It also started coming apart on some seams after wearing it for a night. When it arrived, I also noticed it was missing a velcro piece on the back. It served it's purpose, and looked really cool, but it's not a quality garment.

My son looks absolutely adorable in this costume. It is lightweight and perfectly priced for an outfit my toddler is only going to wear one time. The headpiece allows for something to cover his head without covering his face, obstructing his vision, or wear face make-up which is not good for someone with sensitive skin. This is a great toy album. I rec'd it as a gift for my first baby, who's almost 2 now and still pulls this album out. It has enough open windows for each family member (including grandparents & great-grandparents) to be pictured with baby. It is a really lovely toy. Yes, the plastic window are a little tougher than what you'd see in an adult's album, but then a child may be a little tougher on his/her album than an adult would be. I'm expecting again and am considering buying an additional album for this second child; however, I wish that there were other cover options so that both albulms wouldn't be completely identical.

Early Years Squeaky Legs Teddy Toy

This is my 7-month-old daughter's favorite toy. It doesn't look very exciting, but it keeps her busy for long stretches at a time with its silky ears, crinkle paws, rattle tummy, and, especially, squeaky legs. It's great! I want to get another one just in case we lose ours.

I really like this squeaker toy. The particular squeak it makes isn't the hideous high pitched squeak that so many of them make. The squeak is a lower tone and not abrasive at all. I bought 2 of these, one for my daughter and then later, another one for a girlfriends baby shower.

Maybe I should give this toy only 4 stars because my six month old son still cannot pull the horse with enough force to get it to play, but he loves it so much I had to give it 5 stars anyway. He really stops to listen to the animal sounds and the music it plays and enjoys kicking at it or playing with it himself when no adult is available to make it play. It is one of the toys that I reach for when nothing else is capturing his attention.

I painted a simple mural with sky and gently rolling hills and then applied these decals. I'd add a picture but can't figure out how to do so. They're so awesome because...

I bought these transportation stickers for my baby boy's room and it really makes the room! The detail and color is fantastic! The price for what you get (amount of stickers and quality) is great. I did not have a big budget for decorating her (and her brother's) room so after tons of research, I chose these RoomMates stickers and I was not disappointed! I was able to remove and reposition them several times.

A few things to keep in mind:

These stickers are printed on a clear background so whatever color your walls are, it will show through slightly. My son has blue walls but this did not affect the clarity of the mural at all.

The stickers are super thin, so be careful when peeling them off of the paper! Make sure the sticky side does not stick to itself and that you do not tear them as you remove them.

Make sure you start with a clean wall to ensure these don't peel off over time. Also clean hands will keep dirty fingerprints from sticking. Lastly, try to keep these on interior walls of your house. Meaning, not on window walls or walls where the outside is on the other side. The temperature change in the wall might cause these to unpeel.

Yes, these arrive folded up in a small package, but even though there were fold marks on the castle and some of the other stickersthis does NOT affect the sticker at all! You do not have to try to flatten it out before you apply to the wall, like someone said. The stickers are so very thin that the folding makes no impact. There are no fold marks because it is just rolled and slightly flattened to fit in the package. This is a non-issue though.

These decals are very cute and could be very fun. However, they are very thin and not very durable. My 2 1/2 y/o son put a decal on the refrigerator right after we opened the package. When he pulled it off, it tore in two. The same happened with the second decal we tried on a window. We were hoping for an item a younger child could stick on the windows and move around when he wanted. Seeing they are vinyl, I expected them to last. These decals do not seem to be up to the task.

Tiny Love Classic Mobile

I first purchased a Symphony in Motion mobile in 2003. We loved that one! It was so cute, the colors were fun and it kept my daughter's attention for a good, long time. So when #3 came along, I didn't even think twice about getting this new model. What a disappointment. The painted parts are fuzzy, the plastic is cheap and the fabric is of a lower quality than what you'd find on that county fair animal you won. The colors and design of this newer model are not as appealing to me either. Sort of gaudy and dated. But worst of all was the fact that the motor is so noisy. You can barely hear the music over the grind of the motor. I actually exchanged the first mobile I bought thinking I must have a bad one. When the second one had the same problem, I'm assumed it was just the poor quality of this mobile. At least the exchange process through Amazon was smooth and customer friendly. I mean really, Tiny Love, what a disappointment. Too bad the quality had to suffer while the price never changed.

I've had this toy (with slightly different animals) through three children. I bought it in 2003. The toy itself is wonderful with pleasing music and great visuals. Better than that, though, is the company. After storing the toy for almost a year, I took it out for baby #2. The crankshaft didn't work. I called the company and they sent me a whole new top unit for free. I couldn't believe it. It worked without problem through baby #2 and #3.

My mum gave this to me when my daughter was about 1 month..and I am SOOO grateful. We originally had one of those mobiles that you had to wind up....which gave me all of 3 minutes to get something done before I had to wind it again. The beauty of this mobile is the time. You dont have to wind the mobile up every 3 minutes..I think when you press the button it last at least 15 minutes almost 20. From the time my baby was able to focus 2-3 monthshe loved to watch the mobile & since I did not have to wind it every 2 minutes I was able to leave her alone for a few minutes to pump, shower, laundry..well you name it 15 minutes is a lot of time with a new baby. The variety of songs (and not rock-a-bye-baby) is also great. We still havent gotten sick of it and my baby is almost 8 months (we have one side of the crib higher than the other so we have moved it to the higher level so she still cant touch it). Buy it, Try it, You'll love it!! We do have Babies R Us DaVinci Crib and we had a little issue getting the mobile on at first since there is a lip to the crib but we were finally able to jimmy it on there safely and it was worth not giving up!

Thinkfun Roll and Play Board Game

My 19 month old daughter is obsessed with this toy/game combo. She loves to hold and throw the large soft dice but is even more excited by the accompanying cards. She asks to play several times a day. The cards describe and illustrate a variety of activities to speak or act out. Some are perfect for her age and others are a bit more challenging, like identifying colors, but give her something to strive for over time. That will keep it interesting as she gets older. We have fun interacting by making funny faces, or sounding out animal noises together. My daughter has identified some new parts of her anatomy like her belly button and explored emotions like "making an angry face" while playing the game. I'm amazed at how well this game is designed for such a young toddler. I would highly recommend this as a perfect way to interact, laugh, and have fun with your child while teaching all sorts of new things.

My four year old LOVES games but most are too hard for my two year old to enjoy with him. This game is perfect for her (and my four year old likes to play it too though I think his favorite part is throwing the giant soft dice.) It teaches colors, body parts, emotions, counting as well as how to take turns. I love it so much, I've bought several as gifts for 2 year old's birthday parties and their parents loved it as well! I also play it with my two year old Sunday School class and it keeps their attention remarkably well. A great game!! I highly recommend for anyone with a toddler!

I absolutely love that companies -like Think Funcreate games for toddlers and hope that the early education game trend continues. The Communication Manager from Think Fun, Charlotte Fixler, told me Roll & Play was the very first game for ages 18 months and up (wow!), and I have the perfect game tester in my house! Every day my daughter is on a constant quest to absorb new information and concepts. Her favorite thing right now is noticing when things are the `same' or `different'. `Two blues' she will say as she holds up two blue items. `Two red hats' and `same, momma, same' are common short sentences she will repeat daily. She also loves to learn about animals, the sounds that they make and the different body parts of animals and people. Her brain seems like a bottomless pit just waiting for knowledge to be poured in and I am trying my best to keep up. I am happy to report this task has gotten a little easier these days with the help of the game Roll & Play.

Roll & Play is a fantastic educational activity game for toddlers and parents. The game includes one large six-sided multi-color plush cube with a storage pocket, 48 activity cards (there are 6 different activities, so 8 activity cards for each color) and a parent's guide with simple instructions. The six card activities are broken down into the categories of Emotions, Body Parts, Animal Sounds, Counting, Colors and Actions. You simply have your toddler roll the cube and identify the color side up when the cube lands. You then pick out that color from the activity cards and do that activity on the card. Simple! Some examples of the activity cards are `find something that is the color blue', `rub your belly' or `moo like a cow'! These are all fun and simple activities that will still challenge your little one and expand their creativity, active play and motor skills while encouraging the parent/child bond. I highly recommend this game for you and your toddler!

My son enjoys the game, but at the age of 2 finds throwing the dice cube the most fun! He has bent a few of the cards already, so I have to regulate them. He finds the emotion cards harder-like make a sad face, happy, etc. and the action cards very easy-like clap your hands, etc. Overall, I would say that it is a good game, we just wish we had it a little sooner, so it would be more challenging. We are looking forward to playing it with his little brother soon.

North American Bear Baby Cozy, Lamb

My eight month old daughter has a toy like this that is a human girl with a purple body, and she loves it so much, so I figured I would buy her something else like it. I saw this one and thought it would be great to get and put in her Easter basket. When I got it in the mail, I was a tad bit disappointed by its size; it's a bit smaller than I expected. I think it's a cute lamb, but I suppose it's boring-looking to a baby, because my daughter is not interested in it whatsoever and doesn't play with it, even if it's the only toy I give her, and this is a baby who will find crumbs on the floor and try to play with them. It's also not very plush. I guess I failed with this one, but I still am giving it three stars because decent enough, and I think it's cute; I just wouldn't pay what I paid for it if I could do it over again.

My daughter will not go to sleep without this lovey. It's adorable, soft, and cuddly, plus, it's been safe for her to sleep with since she was very young (maybe 6 months). It does lose some of its softness over time, but it's very durable (we've washed it more times than I can remember) and withstands a lot of love. We have 2, in case one gets lost!

Jellycat Gorgeous Girly Mouse

I had to give this little girl 4 stars because of the quality and detail ... She's really precious. Very well made, super soft and cuddly, but not including the floppy legs and ears, she's about four inches. For the price, sadly she is going back.

Okay, I was weak. She was just too cute to send back. Into the Easter basket she went, and was a huge hit with my 19 month old. She cuddles her and puts her in her stroller. I think she likes how small the mouse is, so if Piper's happy, Mommy's happy.

The Jellycat Gorgeous Girly Mouse was a gift I had bought for my newborn niece a few weeks back. When I saw it online, there was a completely different picture posted; the toy ended up being much smaller, flatness & the materials & colors of the clothing and overall appearance was not the quality that were described. From the description & picture, I was expecting a very detailed & well made doll but that wasn't what was received. It is cute toy but not at all what I would have bought for my niece. I thought I was buying a special collector type doll to decorate the nursery, not a common toy with no character nor well made. My sister-in-law did like it however for just a play toy, though she had not seen the picture nor the description that was posted when I bought it & I didn't convey to her what I was expecting it to be. I am personally disappointed, though if you are looking for a simple play toy for your child I'm sure you will like it. At the moment the picture is more accurate. Though, the head is very flat and the body is a strange shape, which you can not see in the picture.

I did however also buy the Maison Chic Giraffe Coral 12" Musical Toy in which was exactly the quality I was looking for & is a very nice musical toy. The Maison Chic toys are very well made and I am very happy about that purchase for those who are looking for something less expensive but extra special for your child.

BRIO Dachshund Pull Toy

Over 25 years ago my children received Brio toys as gifts--and they were so durable and fun, I buy them now as gifts for children. They are well made and stand up to many, many hours of play. I saved my children's and they look brand new...the newer ones probably will too! (The 4 stars on the "fun" rating is an error--should have been 5 but I can't go back and edit it....)

Our little grandson is finally crawling forward (instead of his usual backward propulsion) to catch the little doggies tail! We bought this for our 7 month old daughter for Christmas, thinking that she would grow into it's educational value in the next year or so. I put the box with the top off in front of her and she loves to reach in a pull them out and look at them. They end up landing on the floor quite often, but they are very well made and haven't had any damage yet. This is a really cute, well-made and interesting shape-sorting toy. I would highly recommend it.

The wings in this costume do not match the picture. There is not wire lining in them to hold them up. They whole costume is very cheap. Don't bother buying this one. You will be very disappointed. Either spend more money to buy a different one, or buy the cheap one you find at the grocery store. Even the cheap wings at the grocery store are better than the small, limpy bit of fabric these wings are made of.

My daughter (2 years old) picked this out for her Halloween costume. It came and it's very nice but the wings that it shows in the picture are NOT what comes with it. The ones that come with it have no wire and don't stand out. I ordered early enough that I can either alter or buy a set but I really hope I can just alter the ones that came with the outfit so they match.

To me, this costume is more like a fairy princess then an actual tinkerbell, but my 3.75 yr old daughter loved it. She looked so cute in it and it arrived in about 2 days. Great buy.....
