My 4-month-old daughter loves this. I admit it was smaller than expected but that turns out to be perfect for a newborn and small infant. She can easily hold on to it and snuggle up next to it and I don't have to worry about her being smothered by it (I do not put her to bed with this or any soft item though). In fact, she loves to have it dragged over her face and that's how my husband elicited her first smiles.

If she becomes attached to it, I'll order several to prevent a total breakdown if it gets lost or needs washing.

This toy is small, but it is perfect for a small child. My son started sleeping with it around 7 months and loves it. He holds on to the arms and legs and it helps calm him down when he goes to sleep. Great toy. Also, since it has no stuffing in it's body, it's super easy to wash.

Our pediatrician suggested that we get our daughter a lovey when our daughter was about 4-6 months old. We thought the pink elephant was adorable and put it with her in her crib. She is now 3 years old and, wow, what a wonderful thing this elephant has been for her over her life and still is. It has brought her so much joy and comfort! She sleeps with it right next to her face, inside her fist, with her thumb in her mouth. She has spent countless hours laughing with it, chewing its talk, talking with it, snuggling with it, and sleeping with it every single night and for all naps. Definitely buy more than one as a back up!! (Our daughter found one of the back-ups, though, and now sleeps with 2 of them, so be careful what you choose as your hiding place!)

The reviewers who said they were disappointed in the size and thought it was a waste of their money were missing the point. Cons : This toy was a disappointment My son loves school bus and I thought this one will be perfect but this toy is only for kids who like to press the buttons and watch it move slowly (VERY SLOWLY) for exactly 5 seconds and stop. It cannot be manually driven it is not for that purpose. My son sure plays with it but gets tired of the bus going so slow and tries to push it manually. Way too expensive and not worth it!

My son at 20 months loves this toy. It moves forward and backward. It also lights, tilts, and beeps. It does not go well on carpet.

It's been over a year and my son still plays with the bus. It has been dropped and kicked and still keeps going. Battery life is good. Only wish it had rubber wheels on back because they will spin on carpet without moving sometimes.

I began with (strong) disappointment when I opened this because only 3 out of the 6 buttons on the top of the bus worked (you press each one for sounds and bus-activity) and the box, itself, had a plastic upper liner that was dusty (not a big deal to smear the dust away, in retrospect, but I felt it should have arrived in the "NEW" condition which was advertised.) *Magically,* by the following morning, absolutely every button was working without fail (tried it several times before wrapping it) and we gave it with confidence that the intended toddler would not stare at it, wondering what was wrong with it. What began with my intention to not use this seller (and possibly Amazon) again, ended with my resolve to simply test the item, and be patient while it 'wakes up' -it seemed clear that this item may have sat on the back of some shelf somewhere and was 'groggy' when it arrived. (Suggestion to seller: perhaps poke these buttons a few times and swipe the dust off prior to shipping so it arrives in the same condition that was advertised.) All of that said, the packaging was PERFECT and the arrival-time even better, given how late we ordered it. I suspect that these sellers work very hard to makes everyone's dreams come true *ESPECIALLY when scrambling at holiday time*, so I want to be sure to recognize the efforts of the seller, in light of all things. At the end of the day we had the gift in our possession in time for wrapping, and it truly was in perfect condition when it was opened on Christmas morning. Thank you, seller.

I got this for my 4 month old for christmas, knowing she was kinda young for it, I knew she would eventually grow into it. This piano has stood up to quite a bit of abuse already and still works just fine. I like the different settings which keep my daughter from getting bored with it. She got this for a birthday present when she turned one, and liked to walk on it, although she's finally quit doing that! After 4 months she still enjoys playing with it. I liked it well enough that I bought one for my niece who is slightly older but has special needs. I wasn't that thrilled with the songs on the free CD, but the CD was not the reason I bought this.

This cute teddy bear costume is sooo adorable! My 11 month old baby girl looks sooo cute in this costume! The shipping's fast with super saver shipping just in time for the Halloween. The materials are good, but watch out for it may get very warm inside when your baby is wearing it. Over all, I'm so impressed with this costume and I highly recommend it.... I really wanted my son to be some kind of bear for Halloween because we called him "the cub" when I was pregnant. I looked at lots of infant-size bear costumes, but this one was hands down the cutest of all of them. I'm really glad a I chose this one, even though there are some cheaper versions out there. Remember that you always get what you pay for.

This costume is very soft, so it would be comfortable for even the smallest infant. The sizes do run a bit small. My little one was 7 months old and about 15 pounds. The 12-18 month size fit him comfortably. It was even a bit nicer in person than it appeared in the pictures. We had some professional pictures made with our baby wearing this, and he didn't seem to mind the costume at all. The weather was perfect for a costume this heavy, but I can see how a little one might get overheated in it if the weather is too warm.

The only tiny improvement I could suggest is to the neck closure in the back. It closes with "normal" velcro, and not the more infant-friendly safety-type hook and loop closure. If it's fastened carefully, it shouldn't make a difference. But if it was not closed properly, there could be a chance of the rough part scratching your baby's skin. We didn't have that problem because I fastened it carefully and watched him.

Overall we were extremely happy with the appearance, quality, and fit of this costume!

Boring, and not what they say. Roar... yeah right its a ball clanking around inside a bigger ball. Rain its just a bunch of small balls in the bigger ball. they are all just rattles with the exception of the bell and sproing one but you have to twist different layers to do that and I don't see a 6 month old doing that! Fisher-Price: Elmo's Musical Sing and Teach Gym

After trying the Little Tikes 5 in 1 gym and being very disappointed, I decided to try this new gym by Fisher Price. My almost 4 month old daughter really likes it! The "soothing" mode is great because it will play music and sounds for about 10 minutes. My daughter smiles at Elmo and the lights. I'm not sure why these types of toys don't come with volume control, but this one doesn't seem to be too loud for a small baby.

I gave it 4 stars because the hanging toys could be much improved. They don't rattle when baby bats at them, and it's not easy for baby to activate the music and sounds by playing with them. They really need to pulled/pushed a certain way to get them to work. (I also wish it had a foot pad for my daughter to kick to get the music going, but I knew when I bought it that it didn't have this feature so that's not a reason for the 4 star rating.) Overall construction quality seems good (we've only had it for 2 days, though!).

I also like the fact that it has lots of buttons to push for when baby gets older and can sit in front of the gym and play. All in all, I'm happy with this gym and would recommend it to others!

My five-month-old has been enjoying this toy for two months now. It's lots of fun. She can reach the toys easily and it makes her smile, laugh and kick. The only drawback is that it is LOUD, so loud that the music almost sounds distorted. It would be perfect if it just had a volume control.

It's a shame to see such negative reviews for this item because my son loves it. I got it for him when he was 4 mos old and the lay down mode worked perfectly for him. Now at 5 1/2 months old he is sitting up and he loves it even more. He stays entertained with this toy than any other one that I have. I'm sure you all realize when you use the sit up mode, you need to take the hanging parts off that you would use if using the lying down mode. We made that mistake, keeping them on and then the seating up mode did not work, but once you take the hanging pieced off, they work fine. We really enjoy this toy.

My 8 month old son absolutely adores this toy, but he turned over to crawl away with the arch down and it caught his foot between it and the little bit of a base that it has. His foot had to be pushed to the side and then removed. His similar Aquarium of Wonders toy has s large enough space to prevent this. He also pulls up to stand and as this toy has no platform it has started to topple over under his 18 pounds (his Aquarium. . .has a platform and we have had no problems and we have caught him and the toy and prevented an actual fall). We have taken the toy from him and we are going to try to take it back to Toys R Us.

My 12mo old discovered this lovely picture book at a friend's house and could not put it down. Was so happy to find one for her on Amazon. Ships all the way from Germany in a reasonable amount of time. Beautiful craftsmanship, sweet animal illustrations and that irresistible wooden knob tying the pages together babies just love to chew on it! This simple and sturdy book will be in our family forever! Couldn't be happier with it.

I had a very hard time reading my baby board books, because he would try to eat them. At about 5 months I got this book, and it was a hit. Now at 13 months he still loves to suck on the red bead. However, now he seems to recognize the animals and points at them while I make animal noises. It's a very good size for little hands and it can be thrown in the diaper bag. No fancy sounds or lights, so it's the perfect toy for plane rides.

Bought this when I saw it on Amazon.com because my grandson loves things that spin. He gets frustrated with manual spinning tops because they eventually stop, so I thought this would be a cool item for him to watch. Since he is only 2 years old, it scared him at first because it started spinning quickly and got faster, then started changing design, etc. I had to stop it and put it away. As an adult, I think it's pretty cool so will bring it back out for him in a couple of months and see if he likes it at that time...perhaps let him start it up. It is a unique item, but not sure whether it's worth the cost or not. You definitely can't run it on carpeting, and I have some tiled flooring, but it would hang up on the grout so I would have to keep moving it. I'm not sure about running it on delicate furniture, especially wood, as it spins continuously in one space so it may make a mark on wood. I'm not sure what educational value it presents unless you want to display how a pattern can change when spinning. I guess it's just okay.

since this is strictly battery driven, it gets a bit boring after a while. There are tops that you have to do something other than flip a switch on and I think they are more fun. Obviously NEVER Stops is not true. Batteries do eventually run out, but the top definitely runs longer than I want to watch it. It is fun in the dark and has very interesting light patterns. It is a bit reminiscent of the craft that arrived in The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951). Klaatu barada nikto!!

Fisher Price Snap-Lock Beads - Pastel Color

I got these for my sons first birthday to help with his occupational therapy due to nerve damage from a clavicle break at birth. He can pull them apart easily, but cant push them together. It could be cause they need to be broken in more, or it could be cause he doesn't have complete use of one of his arms, I'm leaning towards the latter. I think it would be a simple toy for any average child, but it's great for assistance with occupational therapy, and my son loves chewing on them!

This toy was not what I had expected. It arrived used. We ended up not giving it to our friend's for their baby because the toy was used.

HABA Discovery Balls

I ordered these for my 1 year old daughter who loves balls of all shapes and sizes. She was so thrilled with the balls that came with the rolling turtles from Haba that I thought these balls, while similar, would be even more exciting!

The red ball is simply a wooden ball with 3 silver dots not anything like the ball that is pictured. The blue one has a clear resin middle that is sort of transparent. The green one makes a faint rattling noise that is rather dull. Perhaps the most exciting one is the yellow which has a yellow-tinted looking glass. However, looking through it, it's difficult to discern anything you're looking at, and so it's not a very functional looking glass especially for a baby.

If I had it to do over, I would not order these again. My daughter likes them as well as she does the plain balls from the rolling turtles, but unlike the turtles, I don't feel there are things to be discovered as she matures, nor do they seem to have any lasting play value.

A shame. With a little more thought these could have been pretty cool. If they all made a pleasant little sound, perhaps? As they are, they just miss the mark.

I was actually able to purchase a set of four wooden HABA balls from Silly Goose (an Amazon store front)recently. The set includes: a red ball with 3 small mirrors, an orange ball with a looking glass, a blue and white one with a clear resin band around the center, and this green and yellow ball with a bell/chime inside . My son loves them! They are smaller than I expected--somewhere between a tennis ball and a ping pong ball--but he really, really enjoys them, particularly this one.

We also were slightly disappointed with the painted silver decoration on these balls. Due to a safety issue the silver paint is a replacement for the mirrors that used to adorn the ball. We wished we could find a set with the mirrors because the silver paint has started to rub off when my 10 month old daughters puts them up to her mouth. I wonder if the silver paint is non-toxic and I am not certain it is, being a corrective substitution for the mirrors. Regardless my daughter enjoys rolling these across the wood floor and shaking the one ball with the rattle. I have to cringe when she drops them though because I am concerned about dents to the floor. Though bright and colorful I do think Haba could have made each of the balls with sounds for added interest.

Maybe I didn't look closely enough at the description of these wooden balls, but they are very very tiny. I went back and re-read a review; one person says they are between a tennis ball and a ping pong ball. More the size of a ping pong ball. I have a 9 month old and will wait to give these to him because I just don't think he'll like them and I'm a little afraid to give them to him because they are so small (and the age rec is 12mo+). Maybe he will really like them, but for $18 I think I could find something else better that were more bang for the buck.

My son loves the Haba balls. We gave them for christmas and he loves them. The child has to like balls to really use this toy. Each ball does something different and is a different color which a one year old enjoys. I wish I had gotten these for him when he was even younger. They are the size of a kiwi except round of course. Perfect for little guys or girls hands. Beware they like to throw them and they are solid wood so they can break just about anything that they hit. Great present and good buy. Not sure if they would be good for any child over 2 1/2.

Taggies See Me Rattle - Yellow

My soon-to-be 4 month old finds this toy very entertaining. He seems to like that there are so many different places to grasp. The smiley side of the rattle is really cute and I like how all the tags have different textures and patterns. The mirror, however, is pretty bad. While I appreciate that it's not something that would ever break or be dangerous, the reflective quality is so poor I almost hesitate to call it a mirror. It portrays a very warped image. I don't even think my son recognizes it as a reflection instead he just enjoys seeing something shiny.

Fisher-Price Baby's First Silver Rattles

My three-month old son received these as a gift. I thought they were really cute and funny. Before I opened the box, I was worried about the silver-colored coating chipping off when he sucked on them, but it turns out that there is a clear plastic casing over the "silver" part, so that is not a concern.

The problem is that the clear plastic casing is not water-tight. On the box, it says, "Before first use and after each use, wash with hot soapy water and rinse." Since my son sucks on everything, I went ahead and washed them. The soapy water went between the clear plastic and the shiny plastic and you could still see little bubbles of soap in there even after I rinsed them. I let them dry for a while after washing them (but, since the water is trapped in there, I'm not sure whether it's possible for them to dry all the way) and let my son play with them, but I was still worried about the possibility of there being soapy water in there. They seem alright for now, but I also think it's possible that they'll get mildewy if they don't dry out. I've only had them for a day now and I'm washing them and drying them again -I'll have to wait and see how long it takes them to dry out and how long the rattles last.

Basically, these are a cute gift, but I would consider them more of a novelty than a really workable toy. My son enjoyed playing with them and sucking on them, but that will only make them need to be cleaned again. Fisher Price needs to work on making the casing water-tight -then they would be a great toy!

Shining Stars Owl

My daughter was very upset when we got the last Harry Potter book and she couldn't buy an owl. The store was sold out and she was upset about it for a long time. One day we saw this owl and she fell in love. She saved up her money and bought it and is in total love. Hedwig goes everywhere with her. The animal is soft and the "fur" is very soft. She loves the website and getting her own star. We've since bought the pig and for Christmas she's asked for the unicorn.

As for educational, I'd say these take the cake. My daughter has been reading all the books she can on Snow owls so she can care for her owl "properly". She's looking up in the sky at night to her star, and loves the mythical story about the constellation it's in. The teaching aspect isn't tied to her sitting in front of a computer she can go out and learn and live life with her toy right beside her.

My niece loved this. She is sharing with friends and interacting with others. I'm glad I got this.

We gave this owl to our 6 mo. old baby, and he really likes the stuffed toy. Of course, he doesn't care about the stars yet, but we will name a star for him and tell him all about it when he gets bigger. It is a soft, adorable toy for now, and he really does like it!

I loved this owl!! Its face is soooo cute, just like in the photo! And it is super soft and has little wings you can play with. The feet are legitimate--they have "claws." And one of the feet actually has a cute little star on it too, living up to the "Shining Stars" name. I was super satisfied with my purchase!
