My husband and I purchased this toy for our 7 month old at Toys R Us. He had started to crawl and we wanted him to have a toy he could chase. Here are the pros and cons of this toy in my opinion...

Pros:

Fun sound effects

Car moves on its own when the rattle is shaken

Has 2 setting so the car can go strait or in a circle

Volume control so the toy has a quieter setting

Cons:

Toy cost is on the expensive side

Does not work too well on carpet

There is only traction on one of the wheels so it stops easily if anything gets in the way

If the car is too far away the rattle doesn't work

I have to chase down the car often and redirect it to make it move for my son again

I gave the toy 4 stars because I totally recommend it in spite of the cons. It is a fun interactive toy that encourages crawling. I also recommend getting the toy early when your baby first start to sit up on their own to maximize its use because the toy is not cheap.

I bought this as a birthday gift for a one year old but when it came I wished I had gotten it for my two year old for Christmas. It's perfect for the whole age range. You can make the car go by shaking the rattle or rolling the ball on top. It's extremely durable (which is a plus these days!)and interesting for babies who are just sitting up to toddlers running around. I'm purchasing a second one for my sons birthday!

This is a great toy! My son got this when he was 5 months old. He wasn't able to shake the rattle hard enough to make the car move. I had to help him with it. Now that he is 9 months old, he is able to shake it hard enough to make it work. You have to be in close proximity to the toy though. He likes to spin the wheels and the underneath gears when the toy is off. Occasionally he shrieks so loud that it makes the car go without shaking the rattle.

Earthentree Organic Waggy Pull Toy

I was very excited about getting this toy in the mail for my daughter. When I recieved the box I thought it felt a little light. When I opened it I couldn't believe how small the toy was! For a pull toy I was expecting something about the size of a large Kleenex box. This toy is just about twice the size of a little Matchbox car. The beads it is made out of are small and that makes me too nervous to let my daughter play with it without me because she still puts everything in her mouth. It's very cute but it has become more of an ornament than anything at this point. However, she does enjoy playing with it when we do take it down to play with. It hobbles along quite nicely. I wouldn't send it back but I certainly wouldn't buy it again.

Boikido Wooden Musical Set

The wooden zylophone barely makes different sounds when you play the different notes and the wooden sticks are not attached so my daughter uses them as chew toys instead of playing with them and they are very small and dangerous even for children 3 yrs old. The picture shows that a maracca comes with this set but instead I received some kind of wooden clapper which doesn't even make any noise unless you shake the hell out of it and it is a very dull sound. The flute makes one loud shrill noise and, again, the notes do not vary much. The tambourine is the only decent piece in this set. I should have returned the whole thing but my daughter threw the clapper in the garbage which, ironically, is really where it belongs.

These things do not make music. You are better off buying each instrument separately from somewhere else. Save your money. this is junk.

We love the instruments & the colors are so fun! Have to wait on a couple of them though because my 1 yr. old puts them in his mouth & they're still a little too small for him to do that. Overall we love the product though!

I bought this for my baby's one-year birthday, as she LOVES music/musical stuff. Mainly what sold me was the thought of having a wood xylophone, thinking the sound would be softer/more natural (and less annoying) than the usual metal ones found in every other nursery. However, these didn't have the "natural" sound I was hoping for and neither was much, if any, softer in pitch than the cheap metal ones. Furthermore, they didn't even sound the notes right. I had worried that only having four keys wasn't enough, but I couldn't have known that some made the exact sound. (I might as well have a couple scrap pieces from 2x4's to use.) So while this set looks appealing for the reason of varity, it really doesn't offer it. Case in point, read on:

The flute essencially doesn't work, and there's no way to get more than one note to come out of it. The tambourine is okay, but really is no drum. The little shaker is probably the best item out of the bunch, but I've seen much better ones and is not worth buying.

While my kids did take a big interest in it all, I think it was a rip off. I would have returned if I'd saved all the original packaging. I ended up trying to sell it in a garage sale for ten bucks but had no takers even remotely close, despite the fact that it was only two weeks old and just very gently used. So, I still have it for now, but I'm planning to replace it with something else.

(I'd love a recommendation if anybody cares to comment. Thanks in advance.)

The links come off easily. Excellent quality fabric. Flimsy. Bores my 4 month old. For the price, it's a decent toy. Not a great purchase if you're looking for something to stimulate a baby. I'm rather disappointed in Playskool.

Gund Baby 12" Sweet Dreams Dolly - Pink

I purchased this doll for my 19 month old granddaughter. She had already received one as a gift and instantly became attached to it. As a precaution, I ordered an "emergency Baby", in case Baby #1 got lost or needed a wash. This little doll is so soft and cuddly, and she is very durable. My granddaughter loves to pretend to feed Baby, so the doll is frequently in need of a trip through the washing machine. During those times, my daughter substitutes Baby #2. I highly recommend Sweet Dreams Dolly for any child who loves to snuggle and feel secure with an adorable just-the-right-size dolly. Five stars for sure I'd give more if I could!

I bought this toy for my 7 month old for Christmas and he seems to enjoy it. It has 5 blocks that your baby can stack on top of each other to make a tower, but the blocks are hollow so you baby can also stack them inside of each other (great for storage!). The top/smallest orange block has a cute little face on it and when you press it down it squeaks! My little boy loves to smack that block over and over and make it squeak. The 3 middle blocks have a few different colors/shapes and textures on them but nothing special. Then the bottom block has lots of different shapes/colors and textures. It has a nice little handle on the side, a circle that when you turn it makes noise, a verticle bar that has objects on it that you can move up and down, a mirror and a little door/window that you can slide across a picture and play peek-a-boo. It is very durable. My son has thrown the blocks and banged them together over and over and I'm sure it will last. For the price I would say this is a pretty neat little toy and my son really seems to have fun with it.

My two year old grandaughter has been playing with this on and off for the past year. When she was younger they were nice for her to explore. Now she is fast at using them to build a little tower or nest them inside of each other. You can also use them to teach colors.

Chicco Great Shakes Monkey Toy

This toy is easy to secure to a high chair, car seat or stroller and it has so many things to occupy my six-month-old daughter. She likes the rattling beads in the circle, the crinkly banana, his scarf and the plastic pieces on the feet. She still doesn't quite "get" the shaking part, but she grabs for it again and again. This is a good value for a toy and it is holding up well so far.

I dont know what it is about this monkey, but babies love it instantly. Leg vibrates after you pull the leg. No batteries. My baby would rather chew on the rings than the teether foot. Baby is 5 months old.

Got this as a gift for baby in December 2011 and its kinda just been sitting around mixed up with other toys. He had something similar in a chicken for the carseat so I decided to switch it up. My little guy loves this toy! He just lights up and plays with it the entire ride. Even sometimes falls asleep w/his hand tight aroundt the ring. Great toy for developing baby. He's 7 months by the way.

Munchkin Deluxe Auto Bottle Warmer, Black

This bottle warmer takes forever and I've never gotten it to warm anything in a reasonable amount of time. From my experience (I'm a mother of 2 and I exclusively fed my babies breastmilk and travelled a lot while doing so), there is NO car/portable bottle warmer that can effectively warm milk in a reasonable amt of time (30 to 40 mins is not reasonable when baby is hungry) !!

After trying numerous travel warmers in vain, I finally figured out a simple way that really works.

I use a wide mouthed vacuum thermos flask and fill it up with very hot water. When baby is ready for bottle, I place the bottle right inside the thermos flask and cover the lid for about 4 to 5 minutes. The result is perfectly warmed up milk !!

Some tips:

I have the Ozark trail Vacuum bottle (bought it at Walmart for under $20)

U can find any wide mouthed vacuum flask that works for u

I can fit a Dr.Browns 4oz bottle (without the nipple and cap) or a medella 5oz bottle (used with medella pump) inside it. With the Dr.Brown's bottle, I remove the nipple and cap and place it in with just the stopper I do securely close it with stopper and the rim so there is no risk of either milk spilling or worse yet water getting inside bottle. Its also possible to use the medella bottle cap securely on Dr.Brown's bottle. After warming, I fit in the nipple.

While placing bottle in flask for warming, I use just the top lid of the flask and do not use the mouth portion : it allows me extra height to fit bottle in. I do use the flask mouth and all its pieces to securely carry the hot water but while warming, I remove the mouth and use just the bottom and lid.

I boil water on stove top so it stays very hot (rather than just filling hot water from the tap). I usually take refrigerated breastmilk (if frozen, I thaw it a little to make it liquid).. I carry the milk with a cooler and ice pack so it stays cool and fresh until I am ready to thaw it in the flask.

Fill flask with very little water, so that when bottle is placed inside, excess water doesn't fall out

This method is so much more reliable, simple and portable (u don't even need to be near a car) and it really really works.

I can't believe that other reviewers gave this item one star! I use Avent bottles with it and it works great. My only complaint is that sometimes it works too well and makes the bottle too hot. I used another bottle warmer with my older kids, but it took forever and just didn't get the job done. This one is fast. Another great feature is that after the bottle is warm, you can stow the cord in the back and take the bottle in the thermal case with you (as we often do to a restaurant). And it fits in my cupholder while heating!

I've never written a product review before, but this product was such a disappointment, I wanted to spare other moms... As a previous poster noted, the heating wrap gets warm, but never warm enough to heat the contents of a bottle. After 45 minutes, our formula had inched its way up from cold to barely room temperature, and after that much time, I started to worry about food safety. Going through the Starbucks drive-through and asking for an extra cup of piping hot water to warm a bottle in is more practical than using this product.

We received this as a baby gift from our registry selection. The concept is great, but the execution is lacking. If you have a cold bottle, you can expect to wait 30-40 minutes before the bottle is barely warm enough for the baby. We drove to Huntsville last weekend and knew that our daughter needed to eat in an hour. Rather than waiting until she was ready to eat to start warming the bottle, we started warming it an hour ahead of time. It was warm enough by then. You definitely don't have to worry about the bottle getting too hot. You would have to drive 4 hours for that, although I've not confirmed it. =)

We have a DC power inverter and I tried plugging in our regular bottle warmer but all it did was blow the fuse. Now I'm searching for a better alternative than the Munchkin Deluxe Bottle Warmer that I'm reviewing here.

Black, White & Red Plush Panda Baby Rattle

First off, my baby loves this toy. He really digs pandas (I think it's the contrast colors; he's 5 mos). So this is a go-to toy for him. However, for some reason, there was a crack on the plastic. Not too bad, but bad enough that we had to tape it to ensure that it wouldn't break further and potentially hurt the baby or pose a choking hazard. Not sure why it came in damaged (poor shipping?). Hubby wanted to return it but I didn't want to wait for a replacement, so we just fixed it with tape.

May 6, 2010 My 9 month old daughter LOVES this toy. She is so amazed to be mobile. Right now, she can only manage to push it in a straight line. It seems hard to maneuver for beginning walkers. Luckily, we have an open floor plan so she can go right from the living room through the kitchen into the dining room before she has to stop and turn around. I can see her using this for awhile though... putting dollies on it and pushing them around. She wants to play with it every day and gets upset when she can't.

Durability: So far we have had no problems. I read reviews that complained that the handle bar comes unglued. The version I received has a screw holding the handle bar in place. We've had it for a month and no defects have come about.

I was happy with this until the top bar came loose just a few days after we bought it! My 20 month old fell forward and landed with his neck on one of the vertical parts. It was terrible, and all because their glue didn't hold. If you buy this, please screw the top bar in place so this doesn't happen to you. This is not the only Melissa and Doug toy we have had glue issues with. Not recommended.

My son loved this toy when he saw that he could walk with it. It was so cute and he was so cute pushing it. A simple trip and he hit his forehead on the sharp edged spinning fish and left a gash right between his eyes that the Dr said would leave a scar! There was blood everywhere! I see from the reviews that this has happened to others and I can't believe that they haven't fixed it by rounding off the edges since it's a known issue.

Wow, what a bummer. We have lots of Melissa and Doug toys, and I've always been very happy with their quality and durability. This one however, is shameful! My first clue should have been as I was taking it out of the box, the top layer of cheap wood splintered off. Had I bought it in a store, I'd have taken it right back. This was a birthday present for our daughter though, and bought online, so I thought "Well, it's just one strip of wood." Our child loved this toy right away...that being said, within the first week the entire area of blue wood began splintering off. All over the floor. Not only could my daughter have choked on a piece, but she could have scraped or cut herself, etc.

Cheap craftsmanship aside, my daughter has lost her balance and toppled over the top bar twice, and hit her head on the wooden alligators. Now, the toy didn't cause her to lose her balance, but considering this is a toy made for toddlers, and toddlers tend to topple, wouldn't they have thought of the possible injuries?

Overall, an INCREDIBLE DISAPPOINTMENT and I'm sorry to say that it's made me a little wary of Melissa and Doug toys in general.

I bought this for my beagle who had had a toy kitten that meowed. Our beagle loved the kitten and played with it for years until the sound no longer worked. This lamb is smaller than the toy kitten we had but when we brought it out and make it "baaa" she took right to it! Even though she is blind, she will find the lamb, carry it around, gets it to make noise, takes good care of it. Very soft; great toy!

P'Kolino Puzzle Stacker

This toy stimulated my 3 yr old b/c of the puzzle factor and my 11 mth old enjoyed taking the rings off and trying to put them back on.

The pieces are unfinished, we'll have to sand them down before giving it to the kids. The colors are very dull compared to the picture.

As a previous reviewer mentioned, the puzzle stacker we received does have numerous rough edges, unlike the Haba and Melissa and Doug etc toys we own. I haven't filed the edges down, and they don't bother my 2.5yrold at all (ours is not jagged enough to cause splinters or scrape her skin, more-so just rough). Our version's colours are vibrant as pictured though.

My 2.5yr old daughter enjoys manipulating this puzzle stacker at this point she is able to pair the correct sized colored/natural pieces together, but is not really interested in then stacking the pairs in correct size order. She also enjoys rolling the pairs across the floor and watching them wobble apart.

Because of how much she enjoys playing with it, I would buy it again. For the price it should be finished better though.

We bought the Steiff Good Night Dog for my son for his first birthday. His older brother has a Steiff Boeky Lamb that my husband and I say is the first inanimate object we'd run into a burning house to retrieve it is so dear we don't think he'd sleep without it! The Good Night Dog is the perfect size and pliability for a baby and into the toddler years. It is a great shape that allows it to be cuddled in the crook of his elbow at night ... or sometimes slept upon. The material is soft to the touch. Stitching is sturdy/durable. The Good Night Dog has held up to a year of 'love' from our son and is still in great shape.
